I have a 13yo Shih Tzu who, until recently, LOVED our long daily walks. He's fit and looks like the Apollo Creed of his breed. Sadly, Kairo suffers from heart disease, has to take 4 different meds, and wheezes when he breathes. He's now special needs. His regular groomer is not available due to a family emergency, then upgraded to no longer gro0ming. Kairo's hair was growing excessively, and he started to quickly mat which become increasingly uncomfortable. After calling dozens of groomers who had no dates available until Nov, I finally booked a next day appointment with Pet Smart. I explained Kai's fragility in concise detail, agreed to stay, and sign a waiver, but once I arrived, they treated us like we had the plague! The Manager resolved, but no way I was letting them touch my Kai. I sat in the car frustrated! Dear Lord, who has the kindness to groom special needs dogs? Google hears my question and provides a few choices. First up was THE DOGGIE WASHERETTE, which - I called based on the EXPERTISE listed on website and left a message. Then took a closer look, read the medical updates, and assumed she was not available. I asked God to continue blessing her journey and called a few others. About an hour later, SHE CALLED ME BACK! Ms. Ethyl explained her "specialization" with dogs in Kairo's condition, we made an appointment just 3 days later, and ...WOW! She treated Kai like he was a newborn baby! He looked and felt fabulous after she gently relieved him of all of his knots, filed his "stilettos" nails down so he can walk on his paw pads, even treated the yeast between his toes, and I was so incredibly THANKFUL! The Doggie Washerette is a magical place run by an unbelievably, amazing, human being - Ms. Ethyl. Kai was quietly knocked out 5 minutes into our ride home - feeling sensational. The is no other for us! God Bless you and your phenomenal care for our senior pets with special needs.

So I can be kind of ridiculous sometimes and I will admit that I literally thought mobile grooming…read moremeant they come into your apartment and groom your cats in your home. For the record, that is not the case. James has a "cat truck" that he grooms in, so make sure your apartment/home has somewhere for him to park it. Luckily my apartment let him park in the loading dock area. I was incredibly satisfied with the dematting James did on my two long-haired cats. I will say that while he was very cheerful and funny, he was pretty rough with the cats a few times. At one point he actually hissed back at my cat and was pulling him by the leg and stuff, and I almost spoke up, but it's not like he was HURTING the cats... just upsetting them greatly lol. He knew I didn't want to shave the cats completely, so he artfully shaved them just enough to remove the matting. I was quite impressed, and happy that he respected how I wanted them to retain as much fur as possible. He achieved what I wanted without pulling on the clumps and hurting their skin. All the other cat grooming places I contacted refused to even try dematting, but James made it seem like a piece of cake. What I really appreciated most of all was all of the nonsense James had to deal with before and after our appointment. To begin with, upon finding out that mobile grooming involves a truck and assuming my apartment wouldn't let him park anywhere, I actually texted him to cancel. For some reason the text didn't send, so he arrived at the previously agreed upon time, and I was not there - I was stuck in traffic - so he had to wait for me for about 40 minutes. Then when we were done, I somehow locked myself and the cats into a concrete tunnel in the bowels of my building because I was trying to go back up to my apartment to get my wallet and went in the wrong door. This led to a lot of panicking on my part, but James ultimately saved the day and found the tunnel I was locked in, picked up both of my cats and carried them by hand out the only exit, which led to outside. I didn't want to take them outside because when I had tried that ten minutes ago one of them had gotten loose, but James kept a tight grip on them. Don't ask me why my cats were in a shopping cart and not in cat carriers because that's neither here nor there, but it was a total mess, and James took it in stride. I've seen a few people on here complain the James is not responsive via the website; I can't speak to that because I got his cell number from another cat grooming place that doesn't do dematting. I will say that he is extremely responsive via text, so if you want his number, just message me. Reasonable prices, really pleasant guy, and he did a great job on my cats who were admittedly very full of clumps. Again, he is not afraid to manhandle the cats, and it was a tiny bit hard to watch at times, but ultimately they were fine and he knows what he's doing. He has my recommendation for sure.
