The owner and staff are wonderful. They know and love dogs and my dog loves going there. I highly recommend them.

Patrick is fantastic! Our little pup recently stayed a week and half with Patrick while we were…read moretraveling. We had an introductory interview with Patrick to ask questions and he explained how he cares for his puppies and the facilities he has to ensure they all have a great time. Patrick also offered our pup a complimentary overnight stay at the farm so that she can get acquainted and feel out the space! During our time away, Patrick sent many photos to show us how our pup was doing (always running and smiling). While we missed her terribly, the daily updates were really wonderful and I was rest assured to know that she was having fun while we were away. I also appreciate that Patrick can come pick up and drop off your puppy for a small fee, which makes traveling stress free! 10 stars to Pat!

From the owner: BYOD-DC Pet Sitting offers a "Home Away From Home" for your dog. My home and my professional life…read morehas been centered around pet sitting for almost 12 years now -- full-time. This is NOT a side-gig like temporary pet sitters -- this is my calling and a lifestyle for me to spend my life devoted to caring for dogs. We offer a truly unique boutique approach to pet sitting by offering the very best care and attention by pre-screening each and every dog with very strict Admissions Requirements. We do NOT accept just any dog -- we make certain that each dog has the right temperament, disposition and personality. Zero tolerance for alpha dogs or any aggression or excessive barking, digging or destructive behaviors. Your dog gets to be with the sweetest dogs in the WDC region. I have a 3000 square foot home, fully fenced-in 2-acre yard and access to over 200 acres of fields and hiking trails across the street. No cages are crates here -- your dog gets to be with me and have full use of my home and sleep wherever they choose. We supplement their meals with organic cooked ground turkey, shredded baby carrots, green beans, brown rice, pureed pumpkin, fat-free plain yogurt, salmon oil and flax seed oil. Your dog's health is my priority and their diet is a vital step toward ensuring that. BYOD-DC Pet Sitting is the very best possible situation for your dog's 'Home Away From Home.'

While there, they are well fed, monitored, loved on, and they get exercise and mental stimulation while playing with the other dogs. They are both senior dogs now, and act like puppies when they attend. There are many activities and options to choose from, which is nice. And cameras are available for many of the play yards. I highly recommend this facility - from Java and Coco Bella's mom.

Unfortunately, our experience raised serious concerns. When we picked our dog up around 12:30 in the afternoon, he immediately ran outside and urinated for several minutes straight, followed by urgently needing to relieve himself again for a bowel movement. As longtime dog owners, we know our dog's routine very well. He is walked every morning and evening, and if he has truly been taken on a "mile walk," he absolutely would have relieved himself during that time. Concerned, I went back inside and asked staff when he had last been taken out. I was told he had gone on a mile walk at 10:30 a.m. However, based on our dog's condition and behavior upon pickup, that explanation simply did not align with reality. What troubled me most was not just the possibility that our dog may not have been properly walked or given adequate bathroom breaks, but the feeling that we were not being told the truth. Any boarding facility caring for animals should prioritize honesty, transparency, and the wellbeing of pets in their care. I understand that boarding environments can be busy, and no facility is perfect. But leaving a dog visibly desperate to relieve itself after being picked up is unacceptable and heartbreaking for any pet owner to witness. I would strongly encourage other pet owners to ask detailed questions about potty break schedules, walks, supervision, and communication before boarding their pets here.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with dog boarding!…read moreI signed up for the VIP service to board my dog for a few days. My dog was returned to me with a huge bloody wound on the top of her head. Nobody contacted me to tell me what happened or when. My Vet was not contacted and looks like No medical attention was given!! I had to take her to the Vet and due to an infection of the wound she required a medical procedure, antibiotics, and paid medication. I will NEVER use or recommend The Pup Camp - stay away!

Prior to today, I gathered all of the details for today's visit. The young lady stated the temperament testing was free, (I learned this was not true once I got there and signed my pup up for the day). (FIRST NEGATIVE) Prior to leaving, I had my own water bowl and water for my pup. The young lady said, oh no, we provide water for your dog. ALL OF THE DOGS DRINK OUT OF THE SAME BOWL. (I knew I should have gotten my dog and left then but I didn't). (SECOND NEGATIVE) At the conclusion of the testing, they are suppose to provide a physical report card of how well your pup did. Fast forward to the pickup. When they brought my pup out, he did not look like how I dropped him off (I'm not complaining about this because he was playing with other dogs.) BUT, he smelled like the other dogs ganged up on him and dumped urine all over him. Ohhh goodness, he was a stinky mess. I did not inquire about this, which I should have. (THIRD NEGATIVE). When I asked for the report card, the young lady goes, "oh I'm sorry, he doesn't have one because there were a lot of dogs today." REALLY?!? But you took my money with no problem. (FOURTH NEGATIVE) The moral to this story, there are too many negatives for the initial consultation so I will pass.
