The dog washing area is very messy. It's a foul odor when walking in. I came in to shampoo & blow dry my German Sheppard ... I was told by the owner I can shampoo & only towel dry her. Remind you I said she's a German Sheppard. Anywho I was told I could not use the blow dryers because those dogs have to much hair & I have open food. I did not argue with him because this is his business but come on dude you are suppose to be a self serve dog grooming place .. re arrange things to accommodate everyone needs. Be convenient to your customers to build a loyal clientele base. I will not recommend! read more

Everything is a la cart or you can bring your own shampoo/scissors. The self grooming area isn't kept very clean but I'm always grateful for a do it yourself dog wash for my Aussie. I'll probably be back. read more

I am all about supporting local small businesses and I enjoyed my first experience at Muttropolitan. I have a 9-month old schnoodle (schnauzer and poodle mix) and he needed grooming ASAP because it was hot and his hair is everywhere and uncontrollable lol. I usually take Chase to Petco because we're just used to going there and they are booked for 2 weeks.......like seriously. So I decided to look at local places and called Muttropolitan and was able to take Chase in immediately! So we dropped him off and we came back and I was so pleased with his grooming service. I loved the way they cut his hair especially around his eyes and nose. I picked him up and he smelled so good. His nails were buffed and it only took them about an hour and a half (at Petco, it takes them literally all day).. I asked the guy what they used and he said they used pet cologne and I bought it right on the spot lol! I'm going back here and getting Chase groomed from now on and also looking at their food! I recommend this place. They give attention to your dog and truly give the effort to get to know you and your dog. And price was affordable as well. $50 for my dog's grooming. read more

A short time ago, I purchased raw dog food & my dogs got sick because of the bum freezers. Please don't continue to sell the raw food to your customers after acknowledging your freezers are bad & the frozen food isn't frozen! Then it's never any accountability or refunds! Always some b's about being a third party dealer. I see why everyone slowly stop coming to this place & order online. Save time & gas money, plus any problems,, 100% refund. Not at this place!!! Also, pull the Victor dog food from your shelf. It's a major recall & this guy is still selling it knowingly. You can't make this shyt up!! read more

The dude working at this store today has a huge chip on his shoulder. According to him his name is Fuck You. I asked him several times and his response was Fuck You. Here is how it lead to that... So I walk in and he was helping other customers. So I waited my turn and peaked around a bit. Once they left I told him a funny story about how the place used to be a convenience store and I came there as a kid. Then when I pulled up I saw it was a dog store and a dog through the window thinking they might have some. He gave me a very kurt no we don't have dogs here. So I asked if there was a shelter nearby because I had just lost my dog and again got another kurt response I'm not from the area so I couldn't tell you. Given his lack of empathy and attitude I said to myself he's not very helpful so I quickly browsed around one last time sadly thinking I had no doggie to buy anything there for. When I left he gave me a look like good riddance and said nothing. I sat in my car for a second and wondered if this guy owned the store because if he did he was in the wrong business because typically pet people are very friendly and love pets. Out of curiousity I walked back in and politely asked if he was the owner and he said no. I followed up and asked who is. That's when his tone got hostile and asked why. I didn't hold back at that point and said because you're an asshole. Then he said you don't even have a dog so why were you here. I followed up with because I just told you that my dog died and that he lacked empathy and customer service. So he proceeded to tell me I don't give a fuck about your dog. I repeatitly asked for his name and the owners name. He kept saying his name was Fuck You. Then finally told me the owners name was Tom. I asked how to reach him and he said call the store. I said I'm not leaving here until you get the owner on the phone and he could call the cops if he had to given he was so hostile and unhelpful. By this point I felt this wasn't going to end well and to just leave. And, deal with this online. Given what he said to me the guy should be terminated immediately! The fuck your dead dog alone for someone working in a pet store tells me he has zero compassion for animals. And, as a side note I had just gone to Krispy Kreme and the girl at the window was so pleasant with a huge smile on her face. I gave her a $1.00 tip for a $1.57 doughnut and told her she was amazing and thanked her for brightening my day. So needless to say I didn't go in with an attitude or chip on my shoulder. I worked in customer service the majority of my life and all I can say is this guy is in the wrong profession. Update. The staff memember was not terminated. And, the owner said I was at fault because I was emotional about my dog dying. Anyone who would let their employees tell their customer "fuck your dead dog" and not fire them needs to go out of business. I don't care what anyone said to my employee they have immediately been terminated. Judge for yourself if this is a place that will have compassion for your animal or a business you want to support. Oh and the owner whined to Facebook about my review and had it removed and blocked me from posting reviews. As you can see I'm not the only one that has experienced this store's rude and nasty staff. Lights on, door open, i walk in to " man can i help you ? " aggressively!!!!! I reply "yeah looking for goatmilk" reply " man we closed !!!!! " also aggressively ... i actually apologize saying " i saw people inside and door wasn't locked, guy goes " nah we closed! Again in a tone i wish i could express in words. Almost like i did something wrong. Shocked honestly i mean things like " sorry sir " or excuse me sir, you know PROFESSIONALISM .... I'll find somewhere else to buy my dogfood and won't recommend to anyone anymore. I believe the owner was right there too when it happened. Very disappointed. They do exactly what I ask... My dogs look amazing and never come out stressed... Probably one of the best groomers in the MD/VA area! They are quick too... Other groomers I have had have literally taken all day... They are done 2-3 hours after your appointment! Great prices and good people... Very nice! I strongly recommend! read more

I am NOT happy what Muttropolitan did to Kenzie hair. They were the great the last time I took Kenzie to get groomed for her birthday back in June. She looks a mess and I could have done much better. I was soooooo mad, I cried. It appears to me that she was not cut at all other then her head. We show the owner the picture. Since we didn't meet the groomer, I don't believe she ever was told. They cut the top of her hair off so now I can't put cute bows in her hair and she looks like a little boy. Now she has a mullet! And to make it worse the cut on the top of her hair is packed up and completely uneven some parts and her hair is shorter than the other. The owner was not even apologetic and was like oh well we can trim up some more tomorrow. I don't think I can trust them anymore and I rather just have a refund. read more

I like the services. The staff is very nice. Grooming is hit or miss. My for baby is very comfortable here and he always smells great and we. Get a long wear out of his service. The groomer never takes direction, each time I ask for his ears to be shaved totally hair free and we get floppy long hat ears every time. He always look so cute so I don't complain. Getting an appointment here is like pulling teeth. Either told, they need to check if they can book, or to call back a month later to book. So I guess you need to book at pick up or else it will be months before you can get your pet in again. This coupled with getting cuts that are subpar or that I didn't ask for maybe it's time to find a new groomer. read more

Love this place! The owner goes above and beyond for his customers. They are very knowledgeable and actually take the time and answer any questions you may have. They have a wide variety of dog foods and healthy all natural treats. I'm so happy they opened a place like this in Waldorf. read more

They don't like German Shepherds! Don't go here if you want the self wash services and your dogs shed... or the owner shouldn't provide a self wash service... I am military and have taken my 3 German Shepherds to Self dog washes across the country. Needless to say, I know how 99.99% of self dog washes run and have never had this horrible of an experience in my 9 years of owning these dogs. The moment I walked in the gentlemen asked if I brought my own products to wash my dog with.... uh no. Usually they will have an assortment of shampoos from oatmeal to regular... and yes I have seen diluted with water but it just spreads easier. Not at Muttropolitan! they will give you a free 4oz bottle of shampoo... for an 80 lbs German Shepherd and its nothing special. If you want anything not free you can go to their shampoo rack and buy the crud you have at your house... which I did. Then he said "Oh and because you have a German Shepherd... you cant use the blow dryers... because the hair will get everywhere..." WHAT!? Are you kidding me!? Now for some this might not be a big deal bc not all dogs like the blow dryer... but my oldest dog does... and that's who I brought in. it's literally his favorite part. So not only do I have to purchase full bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and ear cleaner... to wash my dog... I cant even use all the amenities lol. Oh and they only have 3 types of grooming brushes... none are for making your dog look like they just left a groomer. You get a horse bristle brush, a very short prong silicone brush, and a metal comb. That's it.... nothing that will take dog hair off your dog. at least not medium to long hair dogs. Lastly, I was demanded to clean up my area while brushing my dog. ok... So yes NORMAL facilities have trash cans for you to discard the hair.. which I have done in the past because I'm nice and don't like to leave a huge mess for the workers... however, none have told me I must clean up. That's like going to a restaurant and the waiter saying, can you pick up your dishes and clean the trash around the table before you leave?..... Most of the time people just do it bc were nice and know they're busy and we don't need to leave a huge mess... but do we HAVE to? no. it's not our job. It's yours. So to the owners... Don't discriminate dogs and their fur (if that's the case, say small dogs and poodles only). Have cleaning products, dilute them with water if money is tight... but don't make people buy full products they could've just got on amazon, have a better selection for grooming/brushing, and DONT TELL ME TO DO YOUR JOB! Build a wall and put Self dog wash station away from your store products... that's what most places do so hair does get all over their store. No wonder your dog wash station was empty. No one wants to deal with you. I shouldn't have even given you any business... I should've walked out. I started reading reviews and noticed a ton of GSD owners were being turned away... well isn't that funny. read more

Used their grooming service. When I called to make the appointment, there was really loud rap music playing in the background and the man who booked the appointment was rude. When I dropped my dog off, again, the rap music was blasting and the guy at the counter (not sure if it was the same one who was on the phone) was rude. A woman groomed my pet, and the cut was fine, but as I was standing at the counter to pay, my dog pooped on the cement floor, and the guy behind the counter acted like it was the most disgusting thing that he had ever seen (I'm sure my dog wasn't the first to ever do this). I offered to clean it myself, but he decided he would rather just make me feel really embarrassed about it. read more

Brought my dogs a few weeks ago. My yorkie's cut was very uneven. The hair on the other side of his face was longer than the other side. They nicked my Chihuahua's nails and one of them even bled. They said they expressed their glands but my dog is now scooting on the carpet just a week after. I guess I won't be coming back! read more

I just moved back to Maryland after living in Southern California for the last couple years. In Cali, you'll find a plethora of small pet stores that provide high quality pet food for less that the big chain stores such as Petco and Petsmart. Moving back Maryland, I was really looking for that one small, locally owned store similar to the ones I had found in Cali and at Muttropolitan, I found just that. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted and politely asked by the owner if I needed help finding anything. I was looking for a healthy, cheaper, and all natural wet dog food for my Beabull and the owner without hesitation, began giving me an awesome and thorough rundown of his products. Since he's a former dog breeder, he was very knowledgeable and provided me with the best options that would suit my dog best. Even though I came in looking for wet food, he even gave me samples of dry dog food since I like to mix my dog's food with wet and dry. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here and my dog loves the food I just introduced her to tonight. If you're looking to escape the overpriced and unhealthy foods at the big chain stores, please come to Muttropolitan and buy some healthy, holistic, and cheaper foods offered here. Would have been nice to actually find out about the great reviews myself. I called there today to get prices so I can bathe my two Siberian Huskies. No where on the website does it inform me that if a customer is planning on visiting with Sibes that they will need to clean up after themselves. The whole reason for wanting to go to a bathing station is so that I don't have the hair all over my house. Why would I pay $22 per dog to do all the work myself and clean up their stations? Not exactly sure how that makes sense. Glad I called and was informed before I had the chance to get my dogs in the car and head up there in 15 degree weather only to find out we are not exactly welcome. read more
