I realized I needed a crate for my pooch after reading & observing him finding small corners up & downstairs to relax versus staying on the main level that's completely open. I also chatted with friends who limit their dogs roaming time. I was also exhausted from the days of comparing Amazon crate reviews. So to satisfy my Frenchie's den instincts I headed to Petco. They were well stocked. I needed help to properly size him. Found a bright eyed associate who was glad to help. After we determined the size & selected the coordinating doggie mat, I asked her if she would get one of the guys to bring the large crate outside. She said I'm the guy! She rang me up with a smile, talked about her large breed dogs, & was ready to put the crate in my trunk when I pulled around. Her customer service was excellent!!!! ( 1/2 star!) Down with Petco! We came. We saw. We left. Apparently, buying a bearded dragon ("beardie") was frowned upon in this establishment. I had no idea that purchasing a beardie was equivalent to adopting a child. I had my eye on one beardie in particular, but noticed that there was another one that seemed emotionally attached to it, so I decided to get both. (At one point, three of the four beardies linked up like Voltron as if they were a package deal...lol, it was so cute.) Anywho! The associate gave us the runaround and told us that we couldn't get the beardies without already having the equipment (e.g., tank, accessories) already set up at home. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!? Then she tried to sell us the largest tank on the floor. WHY IS IT OK TO BUY THIS TANK TODAY, BUT NOT THE DAMN BEARDIES!? Later she reneged by saying a whole bunch of other crap. (I stopped listening. *yawn*) I even offered to "reserve" the beardies by paying for them, so that I could purchase the equipment and have everything set up for them, but that wasn't allowed. YOU JUST SAID YOU'D PREFER FOR OWNERS TO HAVE EVERYTHING ALREADY SET UP! It was as if she didn't want us to buy anything...which is fine by me, because I'm always ready to not spend a dime if I don't have to. What a stressful time at a pet store. It's a pet store. Long time customer will never be back. I went into the store today to return dog food that was just delivered via petco.com. The store refused to accept the food even with the receipt. I had to work with customer service for over 35 min and the customer service rep insulated I was going to steal the food I had tried to return. The dog food made my dog sick so I needed a replacement today but left the store fustrated and annoyed at the lack of assistance the store and customer service provided. Work on your customer service and support. read more

Very unhappy with grooming. First time at Petco. I do not recommend. Made appointment for my 10-year old black lab mix. Brought him in at 10:45 for his 11:00 appointment, and check-in was very good. They asked many questions about him, and documented that he has trouble with his hips and is an older dog. I left feeling good. They said he would be ready around 2:30 and would text me. Around 3:20, I had not received any notification, so I decided to drive there (~15 min) since I assumed he would be close to being finished. I walked in and found out that they had not even started. My older dog had spent five hours in a kennel and the groomers never felt the need to call me. So, I told him I would take him and cancel the service. When I got home, he went straight for the water dish and drank like a dog who had not gotten water for five hours. Seriously. Just stood there and drank through the bowl. You make your own conclusions. I simply do not understand any pet business not realizing that they have a responsibility to both the pets and the owners, and that this incident showed me a lacking on both parts. 've been going to this Petco for years. While it is not the best pet option for all pet needs, the staff has been pleasant and helpful on most visits. I've used the grooming salon in the past but stopped because of the time it took the previous groomer to get done with my little one. I once waited 7 hours for her and decided not to return. Well it had been years and there are new groomers so I decided to try them out.. Mistake on my part, Jala serviced my little ones and cut her leg when trying to trim her leg with the guard off the clippers. She didn't tell me when she called to say they were ready and the groomers didn't want to get her until I had already paid. So, they bring her out and tell me it's a little raw spot on her leg and blaming my dogs fear for the incident. My dog is 6 and has never had an incident grooming. Every groomer tells me how easy and sweet she is, but this new inexperienced groomer is blaming her for the cut on her leg. The groomer and the Vetco tech which happened to be there that day said it's not an open wound, but they put antibacterial ointment on it. If it's not open why does it require ointment? The Manager of Petco Ron apologized for the incident but overall the staff and Vetco techs dismissed the injury with shoulder shrugs and a well things happen attitude. Unfortunately when you allow Petco to groom your fur baby you have to sign a disclaimer that basically allows the to injure your pet. I will never ever ever ever take my baby back to the groomer or vet here. These people are indifferent to errors made by them and injuries to pets. Jala was unapologetic and on to the next. It was clear she didn't care when she blamed my girl for her mistake. I wish her the experience she gave me with a loved one, an error, injury and indifference. read more

I was very hesitant about getting my dog groomed at a petco bc I've heard stories. I took my husky in to get a bath and brushed out. It's shedding season so you could pet her and clumps of hair was falling off. We had our appointment with townshend, but I wanna say her first name was Elizabeth. She was very friendly and made the check in process easy. I will say I did the pre check in questionnaire on the petco app before my scheduled appointment. My husky was done with in an hour and she looked amazing! I definitely plan on taking her here from now on. A great affordable place for grooming! read more

Never have any issues here. I go here to get my fish supplies. The main employee that works the fish section although unenthusiastic (which doesn't bother me but he's like never happy :( ) he's very knowledgeable when I ask questions and gives me the answers I need. The place is organized and I'm able to get in and get out so no complaints! read more

If only I can give 0 stars.. I made an appointment 2-3 weeks ago only to be called and asked to be rescheduled 2 hours before my appointment due to a staff problem. There is no apology from the manager that I talked to. There is nothing that they can do for me, other than rescheduling. They cannot even call other petco locations to make an appointment for me.. so I had to do it myself. Luckily, another location have same day appointment. This is truly upsetting.. never again. read more

Stopped in a few time due to its location to pick up cat food. It always appears as if there is never anyone working. Besides having to wait in line to check out, due to their lack of employees, the store is fine. However, my last visit resulted in me waiting at the checkout for about 5 minutes waiting for someone to ring me up. I could see (and they saw me) and I could hear two employees in a personal discussion in an office besides the register. After 5 minutes I walked out. Apparently, these employees decide when and if they will provide customer service to the customer. There is a petsmart across the street, I'll go there from now on. read more

I stop in here a few times just to grab some quick food for my dog. The one thing I like about this location is that it's not FRANTIC like some of the other locations I've been to. It's pretty quiet although short staffed sometimes, they're friendly overall. Rude and judgmental employees is what you'll find here. Came here with my boyfriend to look at the parrots, in hopes of adopting one. My boyfriend is from Peru and had a big parrot from the amazon for years when he lived there, he's been talking ever since I met him about that parrot and when we came to Petco to look at the parrots the short plump female employee and an employee Kim were very rude. When we asked to see the birds they rudely asked why, and rudely asked "Have you ever even had a bird". Then the whole time they were showing us the bird they were saying "Nope he doesn't like you sorry". Each bird that he was interested in she proceeded to say the same story that "he's already adopted but I'll put you on the waiting list". To the point where we just left. It is really hard to find anyone working at this place, so usually there are pretty long lines with only one (if any) cashier in site. But our dog likes the food sold there, so we keep going back. We went just before Christmas to get her a present and it was packed, but we actually found someone to help us. Not only did she help us, but she advised us on the right vs. wrong present to get our pit-bull mix, who gets very chew-happy with her toys, considering what would and would not pass through her system if she chewed them. We stood talking for about 10 minutes about dogs in general and the bad rap that pit bulls get. Wish I could remember her name, but that lady was a star! Most of the people in Petco love talking to you about your and their pets... when you can actually find someone working in the store! read more

We had a wonderful check-in experience, but that's the most positive thing I can say. Our dog was there for a bath, dry, nail clipping, and tooth cleaning, and we were told 2 hours for the appointment. We were one of the first people there that morning, and it still took over 4 hours. When we picked him up, he wasn't fully dry and his nails still needed to be trimmed. When we got home, we realized he had something wrong with his tail. We spent too much money and way too much time for such poor quality, and we will definitely not go back here. read more

I take my Rott there every month to get groomed and I buy all of my dog food and treats there. The staff is wonderful and someone is always on the register when I am there. It may be only one person but their is always someone there. Also I have never had to stand in lines, the service there is great and fast. The staff is very friendly and will share a great conversation about your pet when ever you want. I stopped going to petsmart because they are not as friendly as my team at Petco! Beyond poor service.. my first and very last trip to this store consisted of me searching high and low for a certain brand as the "employees" stared at me as I roamed isle to isle. They all seemed to bare the long "I hate my job" face and they never uttered one word. One even dodged behind a merchandise display with his phone in hand as I attempted to approach him. Update: A few days after the grooming his rash went away and he looked very pretty and smelled great but I still wish he had been de-furred more and dried properly. Terrible service. I went in looking for a crate for my dog that just had major surgery and is unable to walk. There was no one in sight. I circled the store three times until I finally saw a groomer who walked into the back as soon as I made eye contact. I let my infant sit in the cart while I attempted to move and climb the ladder myself in order to look at the crates. I gave up in frustration and left for the Petsmart across 228. I will not be returning to Petco. read more

Do not trust your precious pets to the groomers at this Petco. Honestly, if you want your dog or cat to get groomed by a professional you should really look else where; for example, your local vet. Case in point: my most recent visit to this location- which is a prime example of the staff's rudeness and downright lack of professionalism. I scheduled an appointment almost a week and a half in advance to have my dog's hair cut and nails trimmed. In fact, my husband and I had to change our entire schedule to ensure that we could get him to the appointment timely and safely. Upon my arrival, I was told that the person who I initially spoke with ( who was apparently new) had mistakenly scheduled us for an appointment too late in the afternoon;hence, not allotting enough time for the groomer to give our dog a full hair cut. Normally, I certainly would have been understanging and fully accomodating to what is frankly a simple mistake. HOWEVER, it soon became clear that no one on the staff has taken the time to call and reschedule our dogs appointment. In fact, when pushed further on the issue, the answer I was given was, " She was supposed to call". I wasn't even given an apology ! There I was: with an excited dog and flurry of missed medical appointments, only to be told that the groomer may be able to finish his haircut before she leaves for the day but that, "it would look horrible". Why would I trust my dog's well being to a staff that exhibits such an utter lack of professionalism and customer service. After all, this is a grooming salon in a retail store. read more
