Throughout the 3 weeks, I got multiple updates on my dog and the field trips she took. Upon pick up after the 3 weeks were over, my dog was GREAT! My dog showed great skill while Sarah ran through some commands and heel work she worked on and when it was my turn to take control, my dog was able to remain focused (as best she could) and still execute commands and work her heel. Sarah thoroughly explained what she did and how I will be conducting training at home. She gave me all the tools I needed and allowed me to get comfortable with the equipment. Signing up was easy and we took advantage of their buy one day get two free deal when we did! Only small downside when signing up is the $15 evaluation fee since other places don't charge for one but it wasn't that big of a deal given the deal we got. The staff members are very helpful and friendly when dropping off and picking up our pup. They know her by name! (Probably because she's one of the dogs that run around and get into trouble all the time ). Downloading their app and setting up your dog's daycare appointment on it is very intuitive (or you can just call in especially if you have special requests). The webcam access that they provide on their app and website is very nice since we can check up on our pup throughout the day until we pick her up! There are three different rooms they provide for your dog depending on their size and/or temperament. Currently, Luna goes to the toy box with all the younger pups and small dogs but she's been in the lounge with her bigger sister before and has done fine! She plays with a lot of the other dogs and there are staff members in each room supervising the dogs as well as sanitizing after any accidents. She does get in trouble every so often for playing too rough and would have to be but in a crate for timeout which is good since she is still learning how to be more gentle. I also enjoy the different events they have for the dogs during holidays, special occasions and just because! Luna had her first pool experience there! We have also did the in house puppy social and dog training class with Dara from The Enlightened Dog which was a learning and an enjoyable experience. Also the price was very reasonable! Had a reservation for 2 week board and train with Ian Galliano while we went out of town. Within 2 minutes of meeting him meeting my dog, a 12 lbs mini aussie, Ian tried to reject her from the program because she freaked out on the choke collar. I was able to advocate for my dog and she calmed down within minutes. Ian then questioned me on her behavior in new or crowded locations, as if he was attempting to again reject her, even though that was precisely the reason we were bringing her to him. She apparently passed his test and he said he'd give it a shot for a couple days. He seemed hesitant, but my dog was heeling perfectly with him as a I pulled away. 20 minutes later he called me and told me he was rejecting her and I needed to come pick her up immediately. Apparently he put her in a kennel to transport her to another location a couple hours away (which I didn't know about in advance of dropping her off, but whatever) and then immediately tried to pull her out of the kennel when my dog backed to the rear of the kennel and got defensive. He did this all within 30 minutes of meeting her and didn't give her any time to get accustomed to him or the kennel before trying to pull her out. I returned to the location, called my very scared dog out of the kennel, and we went home. Ian told his boss that my dog wouldn't even come out of the kennel for me (untrue) and so he couldn't be expected to work with her. They offered to apply my payment ($3,000) to day training (no boarding) but to be honest, we were attracted to OLK9 because of the board and train option and there are many options in the area for training. They processed the full refund the next day. If you can get your dog into OLK9- great, but be aware they may try to reject your dog for bizarre reasons, so if you are planning the program around you being out of town, have a backup for your dog's care. Like I said, considering their reputation in the area we were shocked at the bizarre treatment. If they didn't leave us scrambling to find last minute boarding for our dog we would have laughed at the situation and Ian's behavior, but in reality they just created a stressful situation. ##

We now have a dog that is much nicer on the leash and is able to play nice with other dogs. Three years later, we fostered another dog named Ellie. Ellie had no manners and we wanted to adopt her, but we needed to make sure that she got along with Cthulhu. We used Jen again to identify the issues and sources of apprehension between both dogs. Both dogs get along well now. We also have Ellie enrolled in Jens obedience class and Ellie is responding very well. The training techniques that Jen uses make it very easy to understand how to train your dog.

Prior to signing up with All About Dogs, they took a ton of time answering my questions and allowing me to observe a class and talk with their trainers to make sure the class would be an appropriate fit for him. Most reactive dog classes would disqualify him because he is reactive to strangers, and that human reactivity is something we have found many trainers will not work with. I was, and remain, impressed by their thorough and honest assessments of each dog as an individual, their ability to see the potential in their students, and their celebration of every milestone reached along the way. Pam and Colleen also have worked with us individually to do a behavior assessment with my dog and determine his needs within and outside the classroom setting. We received an 8 page document from that assessment, full of straightforward and thoughtful insights, tips, and continued management strategies. The trainers are kind, compassionate, and never push my dog farther than he can go for the sake of seeing progress or immediate results, which has been critical to genuinely helping him get better. We consulted with several other trainers and did a few private sessions with others before finding All About Dogs, and my only wish is that I had found them sooner. My hope is that we will be able to continue making progress and eventually "graduate" from Rowdy Rovers to their Levels Training, and I do feel confident that with time and continued work, we will be able to. Dog Training is an unregulated field, and anyone can call themselves a trainer. The difference with All About Dogs is they have years and years of science based education and certifications to support their passion for helping dogs and their people. Both Pam and Colleen hold CPDT-KA certifications and all their methods are positive and force free. I am so grateful to have found them and look forward to continuing learning with them. Another interesting note is that both Pam and Colleen are regular presenters at the annual APDT (Association for Pet Dog Trainers) conference, a testament to their knowledge and experience in the field of dog training!
