Petsmart Ventura,Ca has lost their best lead groomer / mgr. ever ... MEGAN ! I was present the day things hit the fan and as Megan was trying to resolve the problem with a other customer.Her another 4 employees gave her nothing but bad attitudes and talked back and rolled their eyes in front of me .. a hour later I was contacted by a manager to inform me that she had a emergency and had to leave ... I had a bad feeling and expected my current experience with what I saw . I then picked up my dog and left .. I made another appt with Megan when I left . For the 3 weeks after .. 2 days before my appt . I was called and informed that she no longer works there ..no one ever followed up with me about it matter .. not only did they lose me and my entire extended family .. but they lost a wonderful groomer who really cared about the animals.. this was not only a job for her .unlike the 4 other ungrateful employees that are still working there!! read more

Awful. Took my year old terrier in to a woman named Gwen and when I got her back at 9pm she was chopped up clipper burned and not bathed!! She claimed my pup was being aggressive and that was the reason why she was half shaved in different directions and burned!! Unacceptable my dog was there for 3 hours and no one could call! Upon picking her up she was terrified and hadn't even been bathed!! I would never recommend anyone get their pet groomed here I truly question these groomers education. read more

Came in here to browse the fish section and every tank had at least 2 dead fish in them. One of the tanks had 7, SEVEN, dead fish and the other fish were munching on their bodies. I know this is normal fish behavior however, there were 3 employees in the fish section who were just standing around talking and joking around with each other instead of removing the dead fish. They never once acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. Awful customer service I will NOT be back! read more

I was all prepared to give this location and entire company 1 star until Ashlee called me on Friday and changed my opinion. To make a long story short, my husband and I bought a pet tortoise from this PetSmart that ended up being extremely sick and had a hole on the bottom of his shell from being dropped (all before we purchased him). We didn't notice he was sick until after the 14 day period and ended up taking him to the vet where she told us he was sick and injured long before we bought him. We contacted PetSmart immediately and they said to bring in the vet bills and they would contact corporate to reimburse us. Well the tortoise died after owning him for one month and after numerous calls to the then manager and to the corporate line, no one ever gave me an answer. I was always told I would be called in 3-5 days and never received one call. This went on for over a month past the time the tortoise died. I had just about had it with the company when Ashlee called me and apologized. The manager had quit and she was just being filled in on everything that had happened. She had a check at the store for me for the cost of the vet bill and she was going to refund me the price we paid to purchase the tortoise. She had incredible customer service skills and made me feel important and not neglected like the rest of the company did. Because of her I am not giving them a one star. I will never buy a pet from them again, but I will buy supplies since she was so helpful. read more

We took our dog for training, the girl yelled a lot, used the loud spray, told us to ignore our dog when we got home, showed more attention and individual training to her 2 favorites. Took our puppy for training. Patty is an amazing trainer! My dog was treated with patience, and care. Which can be tricky with a hyper Border Collie! She is obviously very knowledgeable. We have benefited so much from the basic class, we are enrolled for the next level. Patty teaches you how to be the master ( as it should be). We checked out classes at other pet stores before enrolling, and after seeing Patty, it was easy to choose her as our trainer. read more

it is dirty. they have a large supply of products but things are often strewn about the aisles. I generally go the the pet barn but this is closer to home so sometimes I walk over, however if you have the time I would reccomend trying one of the independant pet stores Ventura has to offer. read more

Took my mixed Cavalier King Charles / chihuahua to Ventura Petsmart for a bath, trim, and nail grind. Expecting good results as I had taken him at least twice for the same deal. NO, Steven, the "Groomer" had read instructions completly wrong and SHAVED my guy's WHOLE BODY instead of just his legs !!!!! Even the legs look all jacked up and uneven. How does that happen !!! Like mentioned, store is clean and organized. Staff is always friendly and helpful, at least in my experience. The grooming salon staff is also friendly and extremely helpful. I recently took my 1 year old pup, Marley, in for a bath, and the staff explained to me the different packages I could get and the cost/benefits of each. I decided to get a Top Dog package as I was already going to get a premium shampoo and other stuff and this way Marley got some extra special care for just a few bucks more. When I got Marley back, he looked okay, not great, but just okay. When I went to pay for the bath, it turns out the grooming staffer had given me the wrong paper and the cashier explained that the groomer (can't remember her name :/) who bathed Marley was "in-training". I'm assuming that's why Marley only looked okay to me, and not the great that I was hoping/expecting. However, the trainee groomer was extremely friendly both to myself and to my boy Marley. Note: He only looked okay because the groomer didn't do much of "sanitary trim" and I don't think she even "scissored" his feet. He also didn't get a bandanna which they said he would get, but let's be honest, I would have taken that off when I got home anyways (Marley hates bandannas lol). Overall, I would go back to get Marley bathed and trimmed there again, as he was very popular among the groomers and he seemed to really like them. The other groomers on staff looked experienced, and from what I could tell from the other dogs present, were doing a fantastic job. I expect that the "trainee" groomer will be better next time if she ends up doing Marley, otherwise I might have to update this review... read more

They didn't post a notice where you picked it off the shelf so waited in a long line just for them to tell me I couldn't buy it. Dog food. Prescription. How stupid. I took my cat in to be groomed mainly because she had some matted fur that I wanted to see if they could take care of. I called first to make sure they could do it, and they were very up front about the fact that they could do it and wouldn't charge extra, they just couldn't do a full haircut (which was fine). The drop-off was easy, and Ryleigh told me that it would be a couple of hours and that they she call me when my cat was ready. When she called, she informed me that my cat was very afraid of the blow dryer (and as such, she had to re-wash my cat since she had peed herself) so she was all done but still a little wet on her legs and belly. I came to pick her up and the pick-up experience was easy as well. I really appreciate Ryleigh taking such good care of my cat and being so nice. My cat looked great and I can tell that she's relieved to not have her fur be matted anymore. We will definitely be back, and will probably ask for Ryleigh next time as well! read more

Patty "the trainer" is no trainer at all. Came here because my dog was showing signs of aggression. She said she was able to help us out. We signed up and first class was cxl without us knowing until we showed up. (Patty didnt have the decency to call us to let us know) So we had to change our class to a diff date and time becuz some other people couldnt do that class, which other class was another mth away. Anywho, when the day came around we (Patty and us) agreed to muzzle our dog because of his agression. When our dog saw her he started barking at her she told me to walk him around the store. I did that for 15min then she came to talk to my husband and my dog barked at her again. She wanted to speak to him privately which she told him she was not going to help us train our dog, that his case of aggression was so severe he needed a behaviorist. Gave us our money back and told us she was going to text me the information. When my husband told me I got upset/sad because I didnt think it was that bad. When I went to talk to her, because she shorted us on our refund. She told me my dog had no hope. Wth!!! What kind of trainer says that when she didnt even TRY to help him out. She didnt even train him or start training him and she came up with that stupidity. I got sooo mad. I decided to go to Pet Co and we talked to the trainers there and one of them said she was happy to help, she saw our dog, which he did start to bark at her the same way he did to Patty and the Pet co trainer was able to calm him down by talking to him and giving him a treat without the muzzle being on...after that he was letting her pet him and he was his happy self and wasnt even barking at her. Really Patty, my dog has hope....Its more like you don't have the skills to train a dog or the patience. They say dogs can sense BS...(lol)and thats what you were giving off thats why he barked at you. He was warning us of the danger we would encounter if we would of had you train him. Patty you are no trainer if you cant handle a challenge. IMO go some where else. She wont deal with you if your dog is too much to handle. Good place. Not much different than Petco. A little newer shopping mall and my wife and I like it better cause Barnes and Noble is in the same shopping center. Very pet friendly even though our dog, a lab mix, is on the bigger side. The staff are helpful and usually give our dog a biscuit at checkout which is cool cause this doesn't always happen at Petco. Our dog loves going to Pet Smart and we're thinking about taking some obedience training classes there soon. read more

PetSmart - The one trying to climb is the one I got - Pet Stores Near Me - Ventura, California

I have tried PetSmart grooming twice now and I can say I will not be going back to this one. The first time our Buddy got a good haircut but his anal glands were expressed, when we requested for them not to be. This second time around we were hoping PetSmart would get it right, unfortunately they didn't. I dropped my boy off at 9:58am for his 10am appointment. I requested to stay to make sure the groomer would not express his glands but the groomer stated it would take at least 2 hours to do the appointment, I found that crazy since he was so small but I knew they could get busy and had other clients as well. With my one special request, I also requested to have his hair in between the ears on the top of his head not to be cut. This groomer seemed to understand my two simple requests. By 1pm I had not received a call from PetSmart and decided to just go and see what was taking so long. I walked in and asked if my Buddy was ready, the groomer who was at the front happened to be my groomer and said, "yes, he was and that she called me an hour ago" Funny I said since I had my phone the entire time waiting for their call. I also reviewed my phone log in front of her just to make sure and couldn't see their number in missed calls at all and there was not even a phone message. The groomer, "Ryleigh" mentioned that she had some difficulty with Buddy since he did a little wiggling when she was trimming around his ears. She mentioned she had to trim just a little in the area that I requested no trim. At this point I wanted to see my Buddy but I had to go pay first before I could pick him up. I finally brought back my receipt and my Buddy was running to me to get out of there. When I saw him they didn't just give him a little trim on the top of his head they cut it down completely. I was disappointed with our groomers attempt to down play the trim. I left the office and got my doggy out of there. The next thing my boyfriend and I noticed was that when we got Buddy home we found that the groomer had nicked our pet in the throat behind his left ear with the clippers. When my boyfriend called the grooming salon to address them about this wound they didn't believe they would of done that. Amy their manager offered to set up an appointment with their store vet. She said they would check him out and if it was their fault they would pay the vet fee but if it was not their fault we would be responsible for the visit fee. That was a nice gesture of customer service. He brought Buddy back to PetSmart and he noticed he didn't want to even go in to their salon, and when he showed the manager, Amy, she made the remark that the wound didn't look like a clipper cut. The groomer also happened to be there and she stated that she didn't see that mark when she was grooming him and that she didn't do it. Also when reviewing our Pawgress Report they did express the anal glands AGAIN. My boyfriend and I are both in the customer service field and when we make a mistake or error we at least let our customers know about it. These PetSmart employees didn't want to own up to anything whether it be an error or a mistake. So for others out there wanting to get their pet groomed just make sure that you find out what recourse you have just in case your pet gets injured while being groomed. Also know that your groomer may not be able to follow your simple requests. As long as you know this and still want to go forward with the grooming then at least you were aware what may happen. read more

We've been bringing our skittish dog here for years and have had nothing but a great experience with the many groomers we've booked with. I'm not good at remembering names so I never book with same person. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because a bad experience with a female manager. Unless I found a great quality groomer who was less expensive then we'll keep bringing our dog here! read more

Hugely OverPriced and Not Least Bit Apologetic! 60% higher price than exact item at regular price at a store less than 3 miles away. Right before Christmas purchased a dog door here. Prices at display were impossible to figure which went with which, so I was shocked at register that total for the door dog (only purchase) was $161.24! Came home, online shopped for exact same product and found it at Lowe's (2 miles from Petsmart) for $101 total price. Lowe's price was not a sale item and that total included tax so I ordered to pickup at their counter. Next day, easy-peasy walked into Lowe's and picked up at their Customer Service counter which is right inside the door. After I went to Petsmart to return their OVERPRICED by $60 dog door. When telling the Manager there that I'd found at Lowe's for $60 less he said he can't control their sales - I said it wasn't on sale, it was Lowe's regular price. The Petsmart Manager wasn't even the least bit apologetic and even had the nerve to say they could give me store credit on the return! Last time I will ever purchase from this store. read more

My dog has been her several times. Each time i've gone here, my dog comes home infested with fleas. I tried changing my appointment time to 1st thing in the morning so there would be less hair on the floor but still my dog came back w/ fleas. Treatments are expensive & they take no responsibility. I was told by the grooming staff that my dog probably got fleas from me putting her down in the parking lot, which I didn't. I actually carried her in. Twice my dog came back w/ bloody razor cuts on the chest area. Cuts are uneven and I often have to ask them to redo some areas. Staff is nice & I've tried switching to have a different person groom her but still the same uneven cut. Last time, I paid for teeth brushing, was told she had it done & realized later that she still had the same small piece of colored string stuck between her front teeth from her chew toy that was there when I dropped her off. If her teeth had been brushed like they said, there's no way they could've missed that. This is a great pet store, they keep the store area clean & organized & the people there are helpful & nice but the grooming itself is not worth the trouble and severe expense you will pay trying to get rid of the fleas each time. When mentioning this to the grooming manager, I got $5 off. Not worth the trouble or expense & my dog could do w/o the cuts on her chest. read more

I have never been so disappointed. I booked an appointment for my 2 dogs online. Made a profile and everything. Appt at 1pm and one at 2:30pm. It said "You will get an order confirmation email" never got it or thought much of it. Figured well it'll still be in their system right? By the way, I live in Ojai and drove all the way down to Ventura because I thought Petsmart would be a great choice. Clearly not. I walk in with my dog Oreo. Talking with the lady tell her my name number and appt time(s). Shes all "Oh, you're not in here. Sorry you don't have an appointment. We can make you a profile right now though"....Mind-blown you dont have ANY of my info that I did on YOUR site online? Why would I make ligit appointment times up and make a profile for both my dogs...you know? Really. Regardless...I asked her if I can still get them bathed today (mind you these are for just baths only) shes all "No were completely booked" go figure always my luck. She's all "We can make you an appt next weekend for Saturday at 1" I was so pissed I just made an appt not thinking. I really wanted to get my dogs bathed and all because of online bs...oh yeah she says "Yeah online can be kinda sketchy like that" THEN FIX IT PETSMART. This place is located right next to Barnes n Noble, so it's in a great location. It has all kinds of fish and aquariums and fish supplies, but st the same time, seems to focus less on other pets and pet food. The building is clean and the workers are nice and helpful so it's a good place to get the basic pet supplies and if you are into fish then this pet store has a wide selection and all kinds of supplies for fish and aquariums as well. read more

My twins boys just turned 10 years old and both wanted small animals so we went to Petsmart. Don't expect to find anything close to knowledgeable help there. First off, it was very difficult to find someone to help us at Petsmart, Ventura. This was our first experience buying a reptile and had a few questions before buying a frog. I finally begged for help and a young employee with distracting face piercings seemed clueless, offered no information without me pulling it out of her. I asked which aquarium she suggested and she said, "um, well, maybe this looks ok..." and pointed to an aquarium that ultimately had a hole at the top and the frog could easily escape (required me to not be able to use the enlosed filter system; I had to buy a whole new filter system and a screen, etc...what a nightmare).... The rest of the visit was pretty much a downward spiral from there. The employees knew way less about the animals than I did (which isn't much), seemed very bored and bothered. So sad that my 10 year old boys' first experience buying their first pets was so dismal. The only reason we went to Petsmart was because they had received gift cards for their birthday to Petsmart. We will go to Petco next time and hope for a better experience. read more

Every time I have brought my dog here for grooming, she comes back w fleas. Hair cuts are always uneven & I've tried several different groomers. On one occasion my dog had two large razor cuts on her chest from the clippers. On that same occasion I paid for teeth brushing but when I picked her up she still had a small piece of her colored tug-o-war rope from home stuck in her front teeth which made it obvious they didn't do her teeth. The next time she was due for grooming they called me for a reminder appt. I explained what happened & requested a different groomer & an appt 1st thing in the morning so there would be less hair from other dogs & less chance of her catching fleas. What I got was a bad attitude, refusal to take responsibility & was told that I "probably put my dog down in the parking lot & that's where she likely caught fleas". I explained that every time I've come, the area is covered in various dog hair that isn't cleaned prior to each grooming of the next dog & that my dog didn't have fleas prior to any of her visits & flea treatment isn't cheap. Upon arrival I repeated all this & was offered $5 off. Hardly comparable to the cost of flea treatment & no apology for the cuts. In the future I'll pay extra at a real groomer just to avoid all this hassle. read more

This review is concerning the return of a Bissell Carpet Cleaning machine. Have rented this at least 5 times prior, never from this location. Let me start out by saying, I do NOT rent this machine for the purpose of cleaning up dog messes and stains. I have carpeting in my home and bad allergies. This is the best rental machine I have found to help reduce what gets locked into the carpet. While using this machine it seems that it wasn't cleaned due to the fact of large clumps of black animal hair getting left all over my white carpeting I have to pick up. I go to return the machine and have to stand there for 15 minutes because they don't have the receipts they need filed and have to some how find this in the system. Which requires waiting for an employee who actually knows how to process these rental machines. I then am told by him that I'm being charged a cleaning fee because of the hair! I don't even own a black animal nor do I have black hair so there is no way this originated from me. Which means the employee checking this or didn't make sure it was clean upon giving it to me. Renting these machines, as great as they work, are ALWAYS such a pain because the employee either doesn't know how to do the paperwork or doesn't have the paperwork. read more
