I now know why. I have a Goldendoodle scheduled for a bath and brush. The two young girls seemed intimidated by my dog's excitement. They started giving every excuses. I came here last night due to a dog food shortage. I normally get my dog food auto-shipped biweekly at an enormous discount of $15 per bag. Food (really any merchandise) here is very, very, very expensive in my opinion, but my bag doesn't ship for another few days. I'd highly recommend you look to Chewy.com to auto-ship any pet items that you buy regularly. Service is fine, and they have the expected stock of pet supplies for all kinds of animals. We only come for grooming services, and we have been coming for years. I find that some of the things that aggravate me the most about PetSmart locations are that they tend to be overly busy and the staff can be somewhat inattentive. But I've had great luck at this particular location. And they are so warm and gentle with my pup who, for some reason, hates getting her mani and peti. I mean, come on! She's not even paying for the spa service. What's not to like about being pampered for 10 minutes? ...wait...no that I think about it, that's pretty pricey for pup. I can get a manicure and a pedicure for $35 and get pampered for an hour and a half to two hours. She get pampered for 10 minutes and it costs me $20?! *heavy breathing* It's okay, it's okay. The prices here are more reasonable than what I've seen another pet shops. Plus, I tried to do it myself and my pup and I almost had it out! Best leave it up to a professional. Other kudos: They offer chalking, stenciling and feathering for pets. Perfect for Halloween. You will always find sales going. They offer obedience classes here. I have pet adoptions, though I have only seen them adopting out cats. They sell fish here. They also sell birds. And while your pet is being pampered, you can walk across the parking lot to do some shopping at Trader Joe's. read more

He was able to keep class under control even though there was a mix of large and small dogs that ranged in age from puppy to senior. My dog was a very timid small chihuahua x 1 year old that basically hid behind me at the start of the program. By graduation, though still a bit shy, she was much more a part of the group besides learning to sit, leave it and more. Definitely recommend David for the dog training. read more

I have taken my golden retriever, Lily, to PetSmart to be groomed for several years. She gets a bath, brush, and nail grind. I use various groomers and don't have a particular favorite. Well, now I do, and it's Victoria. Lily was in her care this week and it was the best service she has ever received there. I swear she shampooed and brushed every inch of her, got out tons of her undercoat, and ground her nails perfectly. Lily has never looked so good. And Victoria did it in record time, making it Lily's shortest visit ever, so less stressful for her. PetSmart, you have a fantastic employee in Victoria. I arrived at11:40 for 1130 am appointment.Waited in grooming shop for a few minutes. I Finally spoke to person at the register. Front desk person told me that Cassandra-was still working in the back. Looked up since I had never seen Cassandra before and did see some people I asked if I could check the dog in as I have an appointment .Lady said no I W only be checked in by Cassandra I told her I would wait. She told me to leave the grooming studio and walk around the store . I came back in a few minutes later. I waited over 10 minutes met someone who told me she was Cassandra. Told her I wanted a full service grooming and that it should be the way the last groomer' had done the job. I gave her my phone number ,asked her when the job would be done. She said it would take about 3 1/2 or four hours I gave Cassandra the correct number to.call When went to pick up my dog.there was one lady at the register.. I paid the bill.. When I got home i realized that my dog looked scalped.The only hair was on her tail and ears. My wife said she could hardly recognize her. I Joked about it and said she looked like she just got out of a displaced persons camp. My wife called the next day to discuss the problem. I brought the receipts back got a full refund with no questions asked. I was still bothered. The dog has little resemblance to the dog I've had. I have been on and off a Petsmart customer since 2011 .The service has always been satisfactory at times it was even excellent. During this entire episode everybody was pleasantI Iam happy that the $110 was credited to my account without any problems. The problem did not happen because someone was incompetent or didn't understand the directions. I believe I am owed an explanation. read more

Ooh, rawhide... Why are you yelling at me? Look at all the paper towels. They don't mind if you pee on the floor! From a human's perspective, Petsmart is one stop shopping for all your pet needs: food, toys,crates, beds, training, grooming, etc. They even offer doggie daycare. How cool is that? Prices are, for the most part, pretty reasonable and employees are helpful in finding what you need. Our dog went through a weekly puppy training class at this location and, every time we come out of this store our spoiled dogs leave with some new toy... or something else to fill their already overflowing basket at home. read more

I was looking for a dog cone to keep my dog from getting to his infection . Unfortunately, they were out of the size I wanted. The supervisor was very helpful in suggesting another size. The location was clean and each employee was busy assisting someone. I did come at a busy time, but I was glad that I was still able to get some assistance. I just had a horrible experience at the groomers. I arrived on time. There were 2 groomers who were working. They had their back to me and were obviously ignoring me. I understand that they were busy but they never turned around to say anything to me about getting to me when they were done. I understand that they we're working but they made it obvious I was being ignored. When another woman came in and a man one of them sauntered over. I had a reservation. I needed a bath and trim. I asked for what my dog had the last time he was trimmed I was told there was no information in the system. She then proceeded to discuss the choices, which she did in a very condescending manner and not helpful. I agreed to a trim but I didn't really feel comfortable with the choice. I left my dog but returned later to cancel the trim. I really should have taken my dog with me. The groomer that I spoke to was rude and unprofessional. (Cat my groomer was not present. I was told she was in the back .) I will never return and will warn others about my experience. I usually tip but will not be doing it this time. Horrible treatment. read more

I took my pup here because I found fleas on him and wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible and since the one I usually go to didn't have appointments until later I chose this place. I checked in at 2:01pm, left at 2:05pm and by 2:25 pm they called me saying he was done. When I was checking in I was told that if I paid about 50$ they would give him a treatment, grooming AND check him by hand to make sure they were no fleas when I would pick him up AND that it would take a couple hours. We go to pick him up and at plain sight he looked fine. The groomer told me he tried to bite aggressively when they were cutting his nails which was odd to us because he's never bitten anyone and he's a pup still. We told our concerns to the manager and we told her we weren't comfortable paying 50$ for a max. 22lb pup for 20 minutes of service, it didn't make sense that in 20-25 minutes they bathed him, clip his nails, checked him by hand as they told us to make sure he had no fleas. And the manager told us to check if he was clean and what was the problem if he's clean and we're like umm yeah but how you get completely rid of fleas in 20 mins in addition to the rest of the grooming. I'm assuming they were tough on my pup. We refused to pay and we left and they told us we would not be able to come back at their location. We didn't care and when we got to the car we looked at our pup and he still had so many fleas and I went back to the store to tell the manager and she never mentioned anything about the fleas still being there for a couple days until they die until we brought it up. It wouldn't have been a problem if they told us beforehand. Also we saw one of his nails trimmed a little to short and looked like he bled. No wonder he tried to bite! They were being so rough on him! He also still had wet spots. We are livid. Don't come here if you're looking for grooming for your dog read more

My husband and I were shopping with our dog today at the Petsmart on East Grant Rd, Tucson, AZ, and had training treats to reinforce good behavior with us. We were suddenly approached by Joe the manager and told to leave. He asked us no questions. He said in a gruff tone, "You can't train your dog here. You'll have to leave the store." I told him that we visit the store every week to buy food and toys and that we always train him as we walk through the store. He said, "No, you'll have to leave. You can't train your dog here. It's store policy. We have dog obedience classes here and what you're doing is like grooming your dog in the back of the store, when we have a grooming service here." I said, "We aren't trainers. This is our pet, and we're only socializing him." He was relentless. He went on and on and seemed so agitated, as if there had been a slew of professional dog trainers coming in with clients and their dogs. Yet, he never asked us who we were (or if we were graduates of Petsmart dog obedience classes), nor did he approach us with any kind of courtesy. We had no idea what he was accusing us of, or why he'd been so intensely agitated. Finally, we put back the food we were about to purchase and said we'd never shop at Petsmart again. It didn't seem to bother him at all, but he did say that we could stay if we weren't professionals. I thought, Now why would I want to buy anything from a store that had a manager who would verbally accost a customer without asking any questions?! It also occurred to me that dog trainers don't sell food. So, why would the store not welcome anyone who wishes to purchase store items and reinforce good dog behavior?! The whole experience was a stunning example of failed customer service. This manager has lost the company thousands of dollars from a heretofore great customer. Beware! read more

I like this location particularly. I live way closer to the one on Oracle, but this one is the one I prefer to go to. The staff is incredibly friendly, and super helpful! They even noticed when I cut my hair to half an inch. They were really helpful when we were looking for a whole, holistic food for our animals, which has done absolute wonders for their health, but that is another yelp review. I also took my very naughty, strong willed Boxer puppy there for puppy training. It did wonders for him. The teacher also made sure to spend the extra time with Titus (the dog) and I to make sure he was getting it and staying well-behaved. I still ended up needing to find him a new home, but he knew all of the commands when he left! The teacher was so sweet, and really knew how to handle my dog, who, if he were a child, would be the kid that makes fart noises to distract the other kids. Oh, goodness, he was a strong willed dog. The prices are great. I have been able to get anything I need, or want, or those squeeky toys I can live without, but my dog can't, at a very reasonable price. We can't leave without getting at least one toy for each of the animals (my dog frequently destroys her toys and the cats' toys. Only the toys in my rat's cage are safe from her eight pound fury). read more

I'm surprised however as no chain pet store carries the type of foods I get for my dog (Eagle Pack and Evo). Oh well... they have a nice selection of toys at least. Took our new dog in for a bath and brush. It was our first try using a "drop-off-the dog" groomer. The website said the Pet Smart bath and brush includes a wash, brushing, nail trim, ear cleaning, etc.. I made an appointment for first thing in the morning and dropped him off for what they told me it would take 2-3 hours. It ended up taking 4 hours. When I picked up our dog, he was still damp because, as they told me, he was scared of the blow dryer. When we got home I checked his nails and they clearly hadn't been touched. I ran my fingers through his fur and watched the hair rain like snow; clearly hadn't been brushed. I spent the next half hour doing it myself to confirm, indeed, no brushing had been done. I'm not sure what I paid for, why it took them 4 hours, or why a dog afraid of the blow dryer is a new phenomenon for them. Won't be back for the grooming services. read more

I live across the street from Petco but I still drive to this Petsmart because they have way more of a selection and the prices are a lot cheaper. My dog's food is five dollars cheaper at Petsmart! We adopted our puppy here and the sales associates are very knowledgeable and love all types of pets. We decided to bring our pup back 6 months later for puppy training and the classes are great. The trainer will spend time before or after class with you and give you 1:1 attention when you need it. He has 3 dogs of his own and trains the other trainers so he is extremely knowledgeable, loves all of the animals, and is very positive in his training no matter how badly behaved a pup is. We've seen a difference in our dog after 2 weeks already. Haven't tried their grooming services yet but will be trying them soon. read more

I was advised the best cat litter was the most expensive clumping litter by a sales representative at Petsmart last week. It didn't work out because my cat dips his legs in his water bowl before entering his litterbox house. The tightly clumping litter stuck to his hairy feet like cement and tracked it everywhere from the bathtub to my bed. I lost the receipt but they still let me exchange it for my usual Tidy Cat's brand of non clumping litter. They were really nice about the return. Thanks for providing nice sales reps. I came in to get my dog groomed. As I waited for one of the groomers to check me in I observed them working. Two women seemed responsive and gentle with the dogs. There was a man grooming a little white poodle and watching it got me so upset that I left. He was clipping around the face and neck area of the dog and had his hand around its throat and was agressively saying "stop that" as the little poodle struggled. It even arched back with its paws to wrap them around his arms. I watched for 2-3 minutes asked who would be grooming my dog and ultimately decided that a store that allows their groomers to be so gruff with dogs is not a place I'm leaving my dogs for hours. The women seemed gentle and professional with the dogs but this guy made my hair stand on end I've taken my dog there in the past and had good results although I prefer the local place on Grant and alvernon area. But I simply could not leave my dog there. read more

Came by to buy our beta fish, Sushi, a new home and some friends. The employees here are great and know their pets! They gave us all the 411 on raising fishes and the equipment we need to make him an adequate home with friends that he wont fight with. So far so good. Petsmart Grooming Dept. - LAZY and UNSKILLED This review is *only for the Grooming Area*. I have found the rest of the store's Customer Service, including the Management, to be quite good. I brought my young Wheatie-Poo in 10/17/18 for his second grooming time with this department. I brought him in originally when I had just adopted him from the pound and he was kind of matted and had ticks and it was in the Summer, so I agreed to let them shave him down pretty much naked. Since then I have bathed him myself and brushed him down but he still gets some mats. To make a long story short. I asked them to take care of the matting, even if it meant an uneven cut, but please don't shave him down to the bare skin like last time, it's cold out. Two of the women groomers got VERY NASTY right away and said they refused to do it. I then left and asked a couple of people that worked there if they thought my dog look so matted that he needed to be shaved to the skin and the consensus was absolutely not. I then involved the Store Manager who was nice. I left and will never use them again, I advise strongly not to use them if your dog is a bigger breed with long curly hair. read more
