This review is for the Tracy PetSmart store, not the grooming or vet departments. It is always clean and tidy, and the staff have been absolutely wonderful. They are always willing to go the extra mile when I have "complicated" needs (I volunteer with a local animal rescue, sometimes my shopping list is both lengthy and full of less-common items that are tucked in hard to find places), and I have yet to have received bad customer service experience with anyone on the sales floor. They know where everything is and don't seem to mind trotting all over the store (twice) to help me collect what I need - this is the one retail store that I find worth going to in person rather than shopping online, and it's entirely because of the staff that works there. read more

I would love to give a good rating because the girls there are super sweet but I am unfortunately disappointed about the result of what I paid for. We have a Pitbull/Lab mix female who sheds ALOT. She was in dire need of a bath, teeth cleaning and deshedding. We have had this done before at another Petsmart ( out of state) and she didn't shed for over 4 weeks after the same treatment. As we were picking her up she was already shedding. I pet her at the store and she was shedding. I asked the lady if she didn't get the deshedding treatment because she is shedding so much and the lady said it takes a day or two to come into effect. Ummm what??? I assumed when I am paying for bath and brushing with the furminator and paying for deshedding that that is exactly what I would get. The two stars are for the kind ladies that work there and that she does look clean. Also...in the other Petsmart our dog smelled really clean and got a bandana....here no. I made my puppy a grooming appointment cause his nails are outrageous and they're black so I'm scared to do them myself. I call PetSmart to make the appointment told her I have all the shots and she asked me how old and I said 4 months and so we booked it! I go today to take him in, and the lady behind the counter tells me she can't take him due to his shot records. Petsmart grooming : To whoever's gray Yorkie was being groomed today (11/3/2020) - I am so sorry for how they hurt your dog. I was there to pick up my own dog but it broke my heart to see your pet today when they were grinding his claws as he was in so much pain, although they denied that he was in pain. He clearly was, and it wasn't that he was scared of the grinder. He was fine and completely calm at first, and then only after they did a couple of claws did he react that way. They probably were at his quick and didn't realize it. It looked like pure torture honestly as the lady also kept going at the same claw... And when I said that she's hurting the dog, the cashier immediately brushed it off saying that it doesn't hurt. When I said that it can if you go too deep, the lady looked at me and just walked away... The one doing his claws shot me an attitude and a sharp "I'm sorry, what?"... I highly recommend your puppy to take lessons with Alysia from Tracy PetSmart. My dog Maui was 4 months old taking intermediate obedience training by Alysia. She is very professional and special way or magic to communicate with Maui. He will listens to her and behave. It is 6 weeks lessons. For my biggest challenge was trying to make my Tuesday to commit to the lessons. There are so many dogs boot camp places out there and you can pay so much money. Maybe these places will work on your dog and you don't have to do anything. However after you get your dog back from these boot camp if you don't work with your dog consistently then your dog will get back to where he/she started. I give Alysia 5 stars for her professional dog positive reinforcement techniques. Maui learned a lot from her and I will keep being consistent and I will sign up for the advance training by her. read more

Horrible for pet grooming. Takes forever to book an available appointment, most of their grooming staff is rude and not helpful at all. One of the female groomers called me saying my dog "wouldn't go in the holding/drying kennel", but instead of explaining what I should do in a professional manner, she had a conversation about the situation with her co workers and I awkwardly heard the whole thing! She went back and forth whether I should pick my dog up right away, but finally figured out that they needed to hand dry my dog because he was scared (Poor baby). He's never had an issue in the past, but I offered to pick him up when she called multiple times. She said no it would be fine to Pick him up after they hand dried him. When I arrived to pick him up one of the female groomers (different one from the prior phone conversation) had an attitude with me and told me rudely that next time we brought him he would have to be an "express" groom (whatever that means) she made it sound like I should have picked him up when the other girl called me even though she had told me no it was fine. I didn't appreciate her trying to discredit me and making me sound like a liar by saying, "I heard exactly what she said when she called you." She was annoyed because she had to watch my dog since they couldn't put him in a holding kennel. Needless to say we won't be back for an "express groom" hun. I thought my dog may have tapeworm, so I called them right away and asked if they could check the worm or do a fecal exam so they had me come in. Matt was the young man that helped us, he was very helpful and knowledgeable. I only go here for Banfield now. Never ask an employee about fish food. We had these fish (fighter fish the ones with the long tails and pretty colors) and we were going on vacation for 2 weeks and they needed the food that disintegrates into the bowl for 2 weeks. My dad and I looked around the whole fish food section and couldn't find what we bought two years ago. We asked a person who worked there, who had no clue what she was doing that she had to ask someone else. They basically grabbed something for GOLD fish and said that it was the same thing for fighter fish. her explanation: They have the same sized mouths, that's the only difference with all these foods. IF they have small mouths they eat small foods. UM no. there are certain fish foods for certain fish, anyone knows that right? it says it on the label. Well we came back from Hawaii to find the fish dead, I felt so bad for them we had them for over 2 years too. NEVER again. read more

This was the place we started out our puppy's first ever shopping spree, then he got his basic obedience training done here and finally pretty much all of his supplies comes from here. The aisles are properly stocked and the manager is also pretty cool to yield to customer requests. They do have a vet hospital connected internally and most of the staff are well informed and friendly. But recently their trainer Cory has left the store (heard he got posting with the army) but since then the training aspect has gone down drastically, I see the new trainer has not up-to the mark skill and is a rookie in this area. They have got some very senior staff who are not tech savvy and hence are unable to handle the register properly if a little complicated things like gift card redemption comes into play. I've only really frequented PetsMart in the past to buy feeder fish for my red ear sliders but ever since boyfriend and I adopted our beagle/dachshund mix Gooberson we have been to PetsMart on several occasions. PetsMart is really clean and the staff is friendly. However, there was one instance where I was followed by some one trying to get me to buy a certain kind of dog food. It was annoying. I was glad when someone crossed her path long enough for her to latch onto that person instead. Prices are a bit steep. We paid 8 dollars (with a 50% off sale AND a $5 off coupon) for a sweater for our dog. It was nice and fleece but I bought a better jacket (with a little pocket for poop bags) from Walmart for the same price. Also I got the same exact food bowl from Ross for 3 dollars while at PetsMart it was around 10. There is a lot of variety and very interesting to look around with or without the pup. I don't think I'd buy anything unless there was a sale or I had a coupon. read more

I will never go here again for grooming. My boxer Floyd has been going here for about 2 years now and they "changed" their policy on on certain breeds. Ok, no problem. I can wait for them to "express" wash him. I show up for my appointment and nobody is "available" to take him (that's why you make an appointment right?) the woman told me to get my phone to check the text message for appointment reminder and talk to the manager. What's the point? I have an appointment at 9:00, your bather is not in, you want me to talk to someone, for what? To prolong the situation more? Recently we bought a new aquarium and new fishes. One employee, Roy helped us out with a GREAT AND WELCOMING attitude from what supplies we needed to get to the discounts we could apply for which made everything a lot easier when we got home. Two other ladies also helped us in choosing fish and food which was VERY HELPFUL. When it was time to check-out, one lady had ringed up our air pump and she did not pay attention to what size it was so she priced it for the larger one. If we HAD NOT told her it was wrong, we would have payed a lot more for the wrong size. Next, we had asked her if they price matched so she asked her manager. The manager RUDELY announced loudly that "we do not price match for them. I do not want my employees to price match for them. They would have to do it themselves if they want to price match and they would need to show it to us themselves." Not only did he not directly acknowledge us KINDLY and APPROPRIATELY but he was NOT HELPFUL at all and we did not feel welcome after our visit today. Overall, everything would have gone well if we have received BETTER customer service from the manager himself. read more

Unbelievable I am a loss for words I work in customer service and I would never in my mind think that a large corporation as far as Petsmart which train their staff to lie the manager in the grooming department Lindsay was contacted by our family to bring our dog Neeko back because he was shedding because he was sharing they told us that they would go ahead and put conditioner for a shedding shampoo at half price as I walked in and dropped off the dog Neeko by self she went ahead and explained everything that she did to my family I joked and laughed and said he didn't even have to explain it to me but she ended up tell me exactly what she was going to do when I came to pick up my they went ahead and explain everything in a little note she started telling me how they just went ahead and gave her a hypoallergenic shampoo and then I ask what about the shed in conditioner that is why he was brought here and that is why she told me you're going to do she looked me in the face and said I did not say that I said excuse me I quite remember you telling me exactly why my dog was brought here the first place and I told you didn't have to tell me she began to get upset and get my dog and I told him that I wanted to not bring my dog back in here anymore and she said all your dog is out of the system so quickly lost a customer so easily as if this is her business and this is her company and it's OK for her not to give any kind of customer service in a sure the customer maybe it was a mistake maybe was a misunderstanding let me do this let me see what I can do she was very quick to take my dogs information off their system and for us never to come back that is unacceptable I hope someone from Petsmart's corporation reads this and is a palled because as a business owner myself I spend a lot of money to gain a customer and not to lose one I'd rather pay 10 more dollars a month and go down the street to a different grooming facility and if that doesn't work I'll continue looking for another facility but I am sick to my stomach with Petsmart I felt like it was a hierarchy and the people working in that department have been there for a while and they get to run the show the way they want to run the show that is unacceptable it's not called Lindsay Mart it's called Petsmart for a reason liars read more

I've been taking my dog Aussie (1/2 Australian Shep 1/2 Corgi mix) here for a bath and nail clip for about 18 months now. He HATES baths and since he was a puppy, I have decided to let someone else bathe him. This Petsmart grooming location is pretty decent actually. I usually drop him off and 3 hours later I get a call that he is ready to be picked up. When I get him, his coat is shiny and he smells sooooooo good. His nails are nicely grinded (the clipping hurts him so grinding is the way to go) and sometimes they put a little bandana on him. He smells amazing for a couple weeks actually. I will say that one time I picked Aussie up and he didn't smell as clean and I noticed that even though I requested a grind, his nails were clipped way too short. It is the only time a male has done the bath and clip... normally when one of the ladies do it, I'm 100% satisfied. So even though I really like this place, I knocked one star off because of the lack of direction by one of their groomers. But overall, you can't really go wrong taking your furbaby to the Tracy Petsmart groomers. The $35 I pay every 6-8 weeks is well worth it almost every time. Of course my dog doesn't think so but hey. ;) read more

Rachelle is our baby Lucy's stylist. We have been to several grooming places and she is hands down, by far the best stylist we have ever come across. Not only does she show perfection in what she does, she actually goes to the depth of knowing each area of my dog and what could be potentially hurting her. She cares at that level. Recently she pointed out that Lucy might have a cavity which she noticed while brushing her teeth. She pays attention to what Lucy likes and what she feels uncomfortable with while getting groomed and takes her time so she finds ways to get around her uneasiness. Rachelle was gone on leave and we preferred to wait till she was back because no one else knows my baby better than her. Thank you, Rachelle, for being the kindest, the most gentle, caring and knowledgeable stylist for my Lucy! We absolutely appreciate the tender touch and loving while taking care of her. Not to forget the perfect job that you do on Lucy to make her oh ever so beautiful. We highly recommend Rachelle to anyone out there who love their pet and want them to be pampered and cared for while grooming as much as we do! read more

I was a bit annoyed when I went back to the vet counter and asked if I could just buy the prescription food and they said yes take it up to the register so I carried my 16 lbbag of cat food up and was told "no not without a prescription" well, my vet had prescribed it but he's in Castro Valley and I didn't have a written prescription since I was getting it from him! They carry the rx brand cat food that one of my guys requires, although it was a minor hassle to get the rx card necessary to buy the stuff hey would not accept the script from my vet, I had to take the rx to the vet on site and get a card from them...whatever..its done and not a problem any more). The staff is friendly and they carry all the good stuff I need for my furry friends and their sales are often quite nice. DO NOT COME HERE!! or ANY Petsmart. They have no protection over your information. (Friend had her car and valuables stolen by an employee at petsmart who had access to her information/address). Do not get grooming services here. They have "secret" "private" policies that they cannot share with customers, according to manager sean. Brought my dog in after wait over a month for an appointment for his bath, brush and nail trim. Since I had to wait a month to get an appointment one of his nails got caught and broke off, mind you this is NOT AN OPEN WOUND, but a scab. I asked them to please cut the other paws and leave that one alone. I was dismissed and told thats just our policy, we cannot see him until its healed. (He has been seen by a vet btw and told hes fine). I asked to speak to a manager (Sean) who told me that it is policy and I said great do you have this online or somewhere I can read about it so that I can know for future these policies. He informed me that no I cant because it is secret, private policies that they cannot hand out to customers?! WHAT?!? He then proceeded to offer me a discount on future groomings. WHY would you offer a discount unless you were in the wrong. I have contacted corporate who has let me know that they are incorrect, there are no secret, private policies and that they will be following up with all involved. I took him in to this grooming salon in petsmart in Tracy because of my recent move. I advised the lady about gremlin's issues with haircuts, and she said not to worry about it.
