I love PetSmart for a few reasons. The biggest one is the affordable treats - it's hard to find chicken hearts, feet and necks at such low prices. I also always bring my baby girl in to get her nails done here, and haven't had a bad experience. Tera in the grooming department has done my dog's nails a few times, and she always does a great job and gets us in and out quickly. My dog is pretty shy and timid with new people, but allows Tera to pick her up and do her nails without a struggle. The price is also great for a nail trim - most places charge almost twice what they do. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait when we walk in, and one groomer in the past and ashy very gentle with my baby. But that's why I always make sure Tera is working before coming in. read more

just atrocious, hostile customer service. this location must have a LOT of theft for the workers to just automatically assume everyone's a thief. i had a pick up order and the line was long, so i grabbed my order that was on a shelf out in the open to then go wait in the line for them to scan the barcode for me (i did that to make it go by quicker and to make their job easier). but the guy working stopped me aggressively with an attitude only to insinuate that i was just gonna go takeoff with it and steal something that wasn't mine. mind you, i already paid for it online and it had my name on it. i do this at literally every other petsmart location to speed up the process and it has never been a problem. some workers have even thanked me for doing that. hated the guys energy, ruined my whole experience there really. petsmart, maybe train your workers to be more kind and less insinuative to paying customers here. despicable. read more

5 months after my last review, we took our Giant Schnauzer for a bath and trim, and I was in complete shock when we picked her up. The groomer completely shaved off her face, stating that she was matted all over which was a LIE! Her beard was fine, may have had some matts but not to a point where she needed a full shaven face! Will never be returning to the grooming salon. I get my dog back today after paying an extra fee/being told she was being "difficult" and "not paying attention" to get her home and find that after I requested her head and ears to be trimmed and they were not. Not only this but her ears were not even brushed at all and were oily, as well as her face was crusty. Her legs were also left with random patches of long hair which I had to trim myself. I understand grooming is not an easy job, but she is a 1 year old puppy and is a dog, after all. I just don't understand why it is so difficult to get someone to groom my dog properly. Even though I asked more than once that he speak more slowly and distinctly, nothing changed; and I continued straining to understand what he was saying. In addition, he was rude and abrupt when replying to my questions. This contrasts with the excellent customer service that I receive at PetSmart's brick-and-mortar stores, and my rating and comments here apply only to the poor online customer service I received. All the staff enjoys seeing my parrot when I bring him into the store, except for one employee who his colleagues say he has a fear of birds. We saw him walk by on accident a few times and avoiding the bird, which is pretty comical. The store was busy and had a few dogs there due to the free photo op with "Santa". My bird got his picture taken but I never received the email with the photo. I am glad I took a picture with my phone while it was happening or I wouldn't have anything. I might have inputted my email wrong in the iPad but there was no way to double check it. My bird loves looking at the toys and fish at PetSmart. It's always fun to take him for an outing. read more

Went back in hoping a fish delivery had taken place only to find empty dirty tanks again filled with dead rotting fish-this time other than being greeted upon entering to store no one came to offer any assistance & though I was in view of cashier, no one was called or assistance offered. I have had good service at the groomers until they refused to groom my dog because she had a couple of mats which they had to hunt for to even find. They told me to take her to a vet or spa to have her groomed. The matting was small due to her collar. I was told their policy has changed and if there is any chance of skin irritation they will not do the grooming. I felt like they just didn't want to do any more grooming for the day. I guess they can afford to lose customers. My dog is well taken care of and this was extremely ridiculous. I will go out of my way to never shop or groom at Petsmart again. read more

I'm from out of town and did not recieve that great of an experience. They do not take appointments after 5pm, after that it is express cuts only despite their website accepting appointments past 5pm. I told them they should fix that and management told me to take that up with corporate. I didnt because I'm not from Rowlette. They upcharge you 11 dollars even if you are a minute late. I was 10 minutes late due to unexpected traffic and at first I accepted the late fee because I felt bad that I was putting the people behind. Management waived that fee for us because we don't usually recieve late fees from the PetSmart in our city we are from. However, I decided NOT to go through with it in the end because the lady in front of me was complaining her Yorkshire Terrier came out choppy and not what she wanted at all and she was super upset. I felt bad for her. A medium sized size Shih Tzu came out with an awful choppy cut too while I was getting things resolved with them. I have a small Shih Tzu and did not want the same experience. Absolutely awful grooming services for dogs with long hair types. I'm talking Pomeranian, Shih Tzu, and Yorkshir Terrier type of fur. read more

One star and only because it was near my house and cost only $12. I was a walk-in and already expected a line however I was treated so rudely by the employees and cashier for trying to get my dog's nails trimmed. While checking out, my dog had an accident to which the cashier told me there were napkins and a spray on aisle 2 so I could clean it up myself. Only then did the man who was the manager thank me for cleaning it up and say it happened all the time. I will not be going back to them and mainly for the bad customer service. read more

This review goes to the grooming section. If I could give zero stars I would. I have been there before and had an amazing young women cut my dog but this go around I was not pleased. I had an appointment, showed up about 5 minutes early with my labradoodle. While waiting, a small dog tried to bite him and I'm assuming it's because he is a large breed but he got blamed for it and later it was implied he was aggressive. They said they were unable to cut him because he had some knots on his coat. They ended up shaving the SMALLEST portion to see if they were able to continue with the appointment. They called 5 minutes later saying no and that I need to take him to the vet. They butchered his hair and did not even have the decency to remove the hair hanging off of him which I later had to cut off. If this wasn't enough to complain about, the customer service from the young African American girl, did not get her name, was not okay. I understand they were short staff and maybe did not have the best day but from the beginning she was rude and acted like she did not want to deal with my dog. She did not say anything, not even sorry or have a great day. She handed me my dog with hair hanging everywhere and walked away. It would have been best to send me away without touching my dogs hair if they knew they were not equipped instead of making him look unkept. read more

I tried to buy some Goldfish for my backyard pond on two occasions at this store and could not get anyone to assist. I won't try a third time. Usually have decent service here but that must be for items I carry to counter only. If I need someone to dip a few fancy fish - not happening! Even after requesting assistance. The store was empty! The fish I went to buy were nowhere to be seen , I asked before leaving if they even carried them, surprisingly they were kept in the back, yet there were empty tanks with decorations in them. So the answer to why is unknown. He brings the fish out and they look to be the dyed type of barb, we went ahead and purchased. Well 4 days later I have 2 of the 9 left. I know for a fact git is NOT my water Ive had the same fish in the tank with no issues and still do. We bought from 3 stores in one week and its not just coincidental that only these are dead. I dont know what they are keeping fish for in the back cause plenty of empty places, but they obviously arent healthy fish. I have taken my white german shepherd here for grooming on multiple occasions with Samara Lowe, and I have only had very positive experiences! My dog does NOT like her feet touched, and she had never been groomed before, but Samara and her team were able to calm down my sweet pup to the point where they were not only able to groom her and trim her nails--but based on the photos--it looked like my sweet pup actually had a nice spa day! I understand there are some negative reviews in here, and I can only speak to my own experience with Samara. I am extremely protective of my dogs, and I am always careful as to who I entrust with their care. That said, I would not hesitate to take my dogs to Samara at this Petsmart for grooming. If you are skeptical or are unsure of whether to take your dog to be groomed, my advice is to stay there and oversee the process to calm your nerves. My mother is far more paranoid about others handling and caring for her own german shepherd, but I convinced her to use Samara. My mom watched the whole grooming process and saw how gentle and magical Samara is with all dogs, and she was extremely pleased with Samara's grooming abilities. I am waiting for the cold weather to end so that I can take my sweet pup in for another furminator treatment. Once she starts shedding her undercoat, you can't even touch her without hair flying everywhere. After the furminator treatment, my dog stopped shedding. read more

Today was the first cooler day here in Rowlett and I decided to take Pollo to PetSmart for the first time in a while. Upon entering the door, a staff member asked me if he was sick and if I was bringing him back for a refund, without me saying a word to her. I didn't buy my Caique from PetSmart, nor would I want a refund for my feathered child. Wow...what a way to greet someone. I clearly had on my shirt representing my bird and a tote with him on it. She even called him a conure...which he isn't. I have brought Pollo to this store pretty often and most of the staff before knew of him. My teen daughter's ferocious (hehe) 4 lb. chihuahua Lily ran out of food so my 5 yr old son and I headed to PetSmart to pick some up for her. The store was clean and organized, staff was friendly and helpful. My son immediately darted off to see the fish in the aquarium (as I knew he would) and we spent about 10 minutes looking and talking about the various types of fish. Nice, free amusement for the little ones. Lily's food was on sale at $11.49, regularly priced at $13.49 and her biscuits were $2.47, I believe they were 50% off. (the brand is Nutro Ultra Holistic Superfood). My son informed me that we should buy a Kong toy for Lily so she could "be busy" when we weren't around and I have to admit, I have a really smart son. We grabbed one x-small, red Kong toy and headed to the register. Good experience, will be back again the next time we need something for Lily. read more

Beware new puppy owners... The people here will tell u that BLUE BUFFALO is the only food that is best for your pup and or dog.. It is NOT! But what it is, is extremely expensive food!!! Yes it's good but to be honest for some dogs it's way too rich!!! My Doberman's threw the food up a multiple of times. The reps here have lukewarm personalities, this is why I really prefer to go to another store...but that's sometime a pain...because this place is 1 min from where I live. I haven't had a chance to try out the groomers but from what I can tell when I look through the window the groomers seem way much nicer and enjoy doing what they are doing and the pups and older dogs seem to like the groomers as well.. I normally visited this PetSmart, but after my experience yesterday with a Samara, a pet groomer, I will take my business else where. She was rude and sarcastic over the phone. She seemed to be frustrated with a computer problem, which I got the brunt of the frustration. I will not return to the store, which is sad. I hope that she gets some customer service training. It wasn't my fault that the computer weren't working or you had to train someone else. Also David, the manager, should get all sides to the story before just taking his employees word without investigating the entire situation. They get one star for the location only, however with the lack of customer service from all PetSmart employees involved that one star is very being generous. My son was sold a sick turtle (Respiratory infection) and not told anything about it. The turtles health rapidly deteriorated and when he took it back to be treated, only then was he notified that the turtles did have a history of needing to go to the vet for similar indicents. The turtle died in their care, and when picked back up because my son was going to take it to a different vet, he was told the turtle was alive when in fact it was not. Grooming center was absolutely horrible. Scheduled an appointment for 3:30 PM they said we would have to reschedule because they put it down for 3 PM. Then they couldn't grind my French bulldog's nails because he was too "wiggly". We have been going to different PetSmart locations for 3 years now and have never had trouble. Today was my first time to use PetSmart for grooming. I have 2 senior dogs. Their groomer was a young lady named Samara. She was so good with them! She was very caring and professional. They look great and smell good! She did their nails really well, too. All in all, a great experience and very affordable as well. I will definitely be back and ask for Samara! read more

Animal Abuse Let me start out by saying my boyfriend and I didn't go into the store but what we saw out front was horrific. This has been weighing heavy on my heart and on my mind. I don't live in the area but if I did I'd drive by just to see if they're still out there to take photo's and report it. There were cages packed with small dogs (6-8 in a small metal crate) sitting in urine, barely had any water and under weight. I asked about one puppy because he was packed in a crate with 6 other small dogs and nothing but bones, and when I say bones I mean he looked like a skeleton. The woman trying to adopted all these dogs out says to me, "Oh, he's fine. He just got dewormed". WHAT!?!? I thought a lot of Petsmart as a company but now that's gone. read more

We have two Boxers that have had their nails ground at this location's salon for the past two years. One is very skittish requiring two Groomers to accomplish this. The staff are nice and friendly and make my dogs feel at ease, even giving them treats I supply to make the process less frightening. Although we typically go on a weekday so there are fewer dogs, we have never had a problem and would recommend this service to others. read more

The groomers here are pretty darn good! We only see Alicia anymore and that is only because I have built a rapor w/her and she knows how to cut our Schnauzers. And one is a total monster but she does a wonderful job. We also bring in our Rottis for baths and grooming and though I understand our male can be a bit of trouble initally, she is able to get the job done. read more

Placed order online for in store pick up today at 2:20. I received an email at 2:51 that the order was received and to wait for an email that the order is ready. Online states your order will be ready in an hour or less. At 4:30 I called the store and was put on hold and hung up on. At 4:37 I emailed support inquiring in the status of my order. At 6 I received an email to come get my order. The store closes at 6. We were looking forward to the new bed and toy for our new addition to our home. I then called customer support for an explanation. The woman would only say she didn't know why the website promised an hour or less and there is nothing she can do. I had to ask for an apology and received a poor excuse for one. I asked to speak to someone that could help me and was offer coupons for my next visit. I explained I wouldn't be back. Horrible customer service. They promise same day pick up and are unable to fulfill that simple act. Looking at my experiences there lately, they are so understaffed they are unable to handle the limited business they have let alone this apparently time consuming extra task. Customer service provided no service only attitude. Will not be giving them any more of my money, headed to Chewy.com. Update: went to pick up my order the associate told me they were busy and didn't have time to pull my order. I noticed the manager come out while I was talking to the associate that was assisting me. She was standing behind me glaring at me. She never said a word, just stared. When I was leaving and headed out she turned away from me. Nice example of customer service! I have never been so unhappy with a business as I was yesterday. I scheduled my dog's grooming appointments online and I took him in and left him. He is a Schnauzer, still a puppy and is very vocal. When I went to pick him up, I was informed that they would no longer accept him on weekends. I heard an employee tell other patrons there to beware they were bringing out an aggressive dog. My dog is in no way aggressive. In fact, once we left there, I contacted the store to report the employee on how unprofessional that was. Once I got my sweet boy home, I could tell something must have happened while he was there being groomed. He cowered several times like he had been hit when I went to pet him. I will never take any of my dogs back to the PetSmart in Rowlett. It is very obvious to me that their groomers do not understand the Schnauzer breed. read more

They knowingly sell sick and diseased fish. Went in today and once again saw fish covered with Ich (fish disease). I told them and got a shoulder shrug and a "yeah we know". They have one filtration system for all tanks. This means the disease was spreading to all tanks and they knew it. After loudly (so others buying fish would be warned) telling them they were compromising their customers entire aquariums I got nothing more than another shrug and a deer in the headlights look. We turned, walked out and went to PetCo at Firewheel. I have never seen them actively and knowingly sell suck diseased fish there. They do not have one mass filtration system. Each stack has its own. I have seen them take entire stacks out of commission because they were observing and treating sick fish. Fish they refuse to sell. I wish PetSmart would be as honest and responsible. read more
