I have put up with this groomer's ridiculous attitude and prices far too long! I guess it was because they are conveniently located to my house and I like things close to my house. Overall they have done a descent job grooming my dogs but the customer service is HORRIBLE! Last week I took my border collie in for her summer cut which is basically shearing off all her hair save the head and tail. Not complicated and with the right pair of shears, I could easily do it myself. They charged me almost $100. When I asked why so much the owner, Monica told me it was because "she's a handful" and that it would be "best" to find another groomer. My dog is seven years old and I've NEVER had a complaint about her. Not a vet, groomer, boarding facility...ANYONE! I take her with me to Lowe's, she sits on dog friendly patios and so on. She is however, a dog so maybe that's the problem. Perhaps Monica should go into another business. This place is also very inconvenient with the hours. They are not open at all on weekends. During the week there are certain windows of time you can pick up your pet between opening, closing and odd lunch breaks in the middle of the afternoon. Especially difficult if you work. If they finish your dog early they will literally hound you to death with text messages and phone calls to come get your dog so they can leave early. Like I said, it was worth putting up with Monica's stinking attitude for a while but I will never take a dog of mine back there again. I'm updating this review to attach a photo. I noticed the day after I wrote my review that my dog had an injury where the groomer apparently shaved some fur and skin off her elbow. It took two weeks to heal up and grow her hair back. read more

Have been looking for a good groomer since moving to Texas in October. I am very impressed with Dog Gone Pretty! My Corgi got furminated and is no longer shedding everywhere she goes. Yay!!!!!! My Chihuahua/Chinese crested powder puff is groomed to perfection! I haven't seen him look so handsome since we got here! Staff were attentive, professional, talented and paid attention to my desires! I brought my dogs in at 7:30am and were ready at 2pm. My dogs were happy and not stressed at all (more than I can say about other groomers in the area and my dogs' attitudes when picked up). I have already booked another appointment for next month! This is by far the best grooming place we have ever been. We have a poodle who use to get terrible ear infections after every grooming appointment. He has never gotten one from Dog Gone Pretty. You can tell the owner really loves animals and she is doing what she loves, this isn't just a job for her. The prices are great and our dogs always look so pretty when we pick them up. I highly recommend the spa treatment if you have a baby with sensitive skin, it helps our poodle a ton. read more

My daughter brought her dog here once and we will never go back. I will say up front that they did a good job on the grooming. There was no issue with that. But their customer service skills are sorely lacking. We brought our dog in at about 9 am, we assumed that at least by 2 pm that they would call to tell us to pick up Buddy. When we received no call by 2 pm my daughter called and asked if Buddy was ready. The lady informs my daughter that she was at lunch, that she had been at lunch since 1 pm. That the earliest we could pick up buddy was at 2:45. Because no one was there and she would be back from her almost two hour lunch at that time. Only problem was I had to be at work at 2:45. Even after telling the lady that I had to be to work she did not care because we were cutting into her two hour lunch time. And a pox to all who cuts into her two hour lunchtime. What I didn't understand was if Buddy was already done and had been finished since 1 pm, why didn't they call then for us to pick him up? Why did Buddy have to sit in a cage for two hours? And who takes a Two hour lunch? I don't know how long this place has been in business but they need to go back to Business 101. You absolutely do not inconvenience the customer. In the end I called work to inform them I would be late. And at exactly 2:45 we picked up our Buddy. So for $50 we got Buddy groomed and as a bonus I was late for work. I hope her TWO hour lunch was worth a customer. And the bad press she will now receive. read more

62 dollars for a pomeranian summer cut, with less than mediocre customer service. Not going back. Apparently our dog was "not like their others" because he was "very very wiggly". And they "weren't used to dogs leaving looking like yours", He's a 1 year old pom, what do you expect? Well since he's not like your others, we won't come back. read more

Wow... the other review is definitely a "1st World Problem" so to speak... This is a small operation that does a great job. Did you ever stop to consider that it was not actually "Lunch" she was at but perhaps dealing with county clerk, or running a errand that could only be done by her on that day at that time. I hate that you were late to work but when I have plans I call asap early... Not wait for the call. I've used this place for at least 3 yrs and NEVER have they stated that my pet would be ready before 3:30-4:30... Why? Because they are BUSY! Why? Because they do a great job a a good price... My prayers are with "Buddy"...Not for the extra 45 min he was taken care of at DGP... But for what he must have to deal with on a daily basis... Hang in there Buddy! read more

I just love this place! Moved to rockwall two years ago and luckily I found this place first! I've heard horrible stories like we all have about grooming scenarios but this place is number one! We have taken our dog Coco here a few times now and everytime she looks amazing, never has any problems, doesn't come home with fleas, and we couldn't be more happy with there customer service! I purposely waited to write a review of Dog Gone Pretty dog groomers in Rockwall until the second grooming, and I'm glad I did. The first time I brought my goldendoodle, Daisy, to this location for grooming, the staff was very nice and accommodating. Due to the fact that I had been traveling, and had Daisy with me, I had not had her groomed in 8 weeks. They did a beautiful job on her (and my two yorkies); but they told me that she was badly matted and that they worked on her for four hours. They charged me $65 extra for this, which was reasonable and I understood completely. I paid $297 for the grooming of a goldendoodle and 2 small yorkies, and because they did a good job, I paid it gladly. However, they told me that they will not spend that kind of time on Daisy in the future; making me feel as if I needed to groom her prior to the grooming appointment. I made the next appointment 5 weeks later, groomed her myself in between, and spent an hour brushing her out with a special tool that demats dogs with thick hair prior to the appointment, so I know she was in pretty good shape. Daisy's coat is thick like a poodle, but still, I could get a brush through her and after all, their business is to groom dogs. My husband brought her in the second time and told me that they were not very friendly. He told the groomer (not the same person as the first time) that he wanted her "trimmed up". Her response was, "I don't know what that means." He said, "Well, just like she is now, but a little shorter, you know, trimmed. I don't want her too short and I don't want her shaved." How does a dog groomer not know what "trimmed" means? If she wanted him to be more specific, she should have communicated that differently. Less than an hour later, (which tells me they hardly tried) the receptionist called me and told me that they shampooed and conditioned her, but that they could not get the brush through her since she was so badly matted; and she reminded me that they had told me they would not de-mat her again. I said, "Well, she could not possibly be that bad because I spent an hour brushing her out prior to bring her in." She said, "Well, she is and we cannot do it." So, my husband went back and picked up our wet dog. Can you even imagine a dog grooming business refusing to groom a dog?!? I was very disappointed. There's nothing on the web-site that says, "We only groom dogs who are easily groomed. If your dog has a thick coat, please take it somewhere else". We will not be returning to Dog Gone Pretty, and we will specifically not recommend this groomer to anyone we know. read more

New to the area and excited to bring my pup in after seeing some really good reviews online... however... poor customer service when asked about their grooming services. Frustrated after bringing my pup in several times and being charged extra for what they were calling "matted". As an owner of a maltese breed, I know this can be an issue. I should first mention I take special precautions and use both shampoo and conditioner to help prevent any issues, as well as brush him regularly. Prior to taking him in for his appointment I brush through his fur with a de-matting comb , specific comb to prevent this very issue.... and after going to pick up my pup I asked to see the specific area in which they felt my pup was matted. Their response? "I don't know she done a lot of dogs today" as I hear the groomer in the back say "oh I don't know, somewhere" My check was in hand on arrival to pick up my pup, and I gladly handed it over and remained patient and nice as they proceeded to show me a comb they use and told me I was not brushing him correctly at home. Ironically enough, I have been to many groomers over the years and never have had this issue, but know with my pups breed I must pay close attention in preventing it. What I find hard to believe is that they are charging me extra for something they do not have the courtesy to come explain, much less how they could have called before continuing with his grooming service to let me know of they extra charges before they proceeded. In that moment I felt as if my pup was just another long haired dog, lets try to get away with charging extra money. Although the charges were not significant, what was irritating was the lack of courtesy in the situation. Unfortunately that will be last time to visit Dog Gone Pretty. read more
