they gave us an 8 o'clock appointment. We went there and without any announcement they are closed. We went the following day. Dropped the dogs at 8 AM and it's already 6 pm . They have not done with the three dogs. I'm not coming back anymore. Very poor service. Place so dirty. The single staff cannot cope up with over booking . 3 of us dog parents are waiting . I brought my two teacup Pomeranians here and left with the worst experience I've ever had at a groomers. I dropped them off at 9:30am and didn't receive a call/text of when they would be done. They told me they close at 6pm and it was 5:50pm and still no update. I rushed over there for fear that they'd close and my babies would have to stay the night. On the way over there, my sister called the place about 15 times before we got an answer. I got there and saw that my red Pomeranian, Prada, was just starting to get worked on at almost 6pm. They were blow drying their hair with a shop vac. The place looked disgusting (I hadn't went inside when I dropped them off) and I was appalled. One of the employees told me they had one groomer and 22 appointments that day. They are completely over booking themselves. My other Pomeranian, the one they were able to groom fully, as you can see in the photo, was cut around her ears too close to her ear. I've never had a groomer go that close to such a delicate spot. I am disappointed with the service and the lack of professionalism as I saw great reviews about this place. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who loves their fur babies. read more

This was our first time here and they did a great job! She smells wonderful and looks adorable. I had trimmed her eyes a few weeks back and didn't do the best job and they were able to blend that issue out nicely. I checked her out for any nicks and cuts and she didn't have a thing. I took my very fluffy German shepherd mix here yesterday for a much needed bath. I planned on bathing her myself because she gets nervous and I just thought she'd do better with me doing it instead of dropping her off. A very nice young man - I forgot to ask his name, but I think another employee called him Michael - helped me through the entire bath. He lifted her up onto the bath table for me (she's 60 pounds), helped me with the shampoo/conditioner/rinser, then after the bath he moved her to the drying table and helped me dry her, which took a good while with all that long fur! It looked like a snowstorm in there! I wish I had taken a picture. I thought my girl had some mats behind her legs, but the groomer came over and did her magic. She told me they weren't mats, just her thick undercoat coming in and she brushed it all out for me and gave me advice on how to keep her undercoat brushed out. The two of them helped me so much. I told him to please charge me their regular bath/groom charge, but he wouldn't do it. He said they're there to help! So I made up for it on the tip. I will definitely bring her back to Mr. Mutt. It was worth every penny just to not have the wet towels and all that mess in my house, but their help was the icing on the cake. Their shampoo and conditioner smelled good and helped detangle my very fluffy girl. For the reviews mentioning the place being dirty, it's a dog grooming place, for goodness sake, not a beauty salon. They're blow-drying dogs and brushing them out. Of course there's going to be fur everywhere! I'm sure it's all cleaned up when they have time in between clients and at the end of the day. Been going there for years and I wash my own dogs. Saturday I was there and they had teenagers washing dogs for the groomer. No adult supervision, no training those kids. One boy ha a black lab in the wash, the kid stepped away and the lab jumped the tub and hung himself. The teen just stood there while I and another teen ran to pick up the dog and release it from strangling. The safety leads used in the tubs are too long and no training these kids. I doubt the owner of that lab was told to watch for damage to the neck. This place is ok if you stay and wash your own pet, witnessing a dog strangling....I would not leave my dog there for any reason. read more

I had to save a small black and white dog from strangulation today while I was bathing my dog at Mr. Mutt in Rowlett. It had jumped from the tub and was dangling on the side of the tub. This place is awesome! I had just moved to texas and was looking for a place to get my dog groomed or simply washed! I called and the owner let me know I could self groom if I wanted to get in and out which was fine with me! I arrived and everyone was very friendly, one of the employees even shaved some of the matted fur in some areas before I washed my dog, and the owner even jumped in and washed my dog for me! I can't believe this place has 4.7 stars. My Lab was sent home soaking wet. By the time we got home, his coat was standing straight up. I can't do anything with it. As if that wasn't enough, they cut my little 4 pounds Yorkie's leg, cut his hair waaay shorter than we discussed AND it's all uneven. It looks like a third grader cut it. Loved this place! My best friend and I went to take my German Shepherd to do the self wash since I moved into an apartment and can't wash him there. Everything was so convenient, they provided apron's, the soap, conditioner, dryer, towels, they even sprayed cologne on him for free when I was paying. (which was only $20) one of the workers/owner helped me dry my dog without charging which was really helpful! It's a nice place for self-washing your dog. We own a fur factory, who kept clogging our bathtub drain, so I looked for a place to wash our dog weekly. The place isn't fancy. It's bare bones but it's clean, doesn't smell, and has a very attentive, helpful staff. They provide shampoo, conditioner, clean towels, and blow dryers. The price is fair, and we were in and out w a clean dog in about 20 mins. Can't ask for better than that. read more

I've seen numerous times where he charges someone for a self bath then jumps in to help the dog's owner give the bath without up-charging - not very man dog wash places would be willing to get their hands dirty without personal gain, but Steve certainly does! The three times I've been, the facilities have been very clean. The staff is very helpful with my 100 lb. dog. They trim his paws, and any other fur that looks a bit much and that also clip his nails. Overall, this place is 5+++. I like to bring my dog here because I can bathe her myself. It's not the best kept up place but I overlook that because the people are nice. I cannot give them more stars though because they do not work the hours they have posted. Today marks the second time I've driven from Sachse only to have them locked up tight when I got here. They need to either change their hours posted online or work those hours. The times on the door for Tuesday-Friday have been scratched off so who knows what the hours really are. read more

Where do I begin? My baby had an 11 appt this morning. When I dropped her off, I gave them my # and asked them to PLEASE call me when she was finished bc my baby does not do well left in a kennel waiting to be picked up. I watched the young man write my # in the spiral and he wrote it down correctly. At 2:20 pm I had not heard from them, so I decided to call. The young man answered the phone and I asked if my baby was ready to be picked up. Instead of him saying, "hold on ma'am, let me check", he said nothing and just layer the phone down. I heard him ask someone if she were done and the girl said not yet. Ok fine, no big deal. Again, I said please call me when my baby is done. At 4:20 pm, 2 hrs later, I had not heard from them, knowing they close at 5:00 on Saturdays, I called again. Same young man answers and once again, he just lays the phone down. Someone needs to be teaching these young people some phone etiquette! He comes back and says, "Oh yea she's been done for 3 or 4 hours, we called several times!" Ummm wait, how can she have been done for 3 or 4 hours when I called 2 hours ago and y'all hadn't even started her? So, upset, I hung up and headed up there. I got there and informed them that I needed to speak to whomever was in charge. So a woman came out and I told her I had NOT been notified when she was done. Again, I was told they did call me. So I requested that she look through her phone to show me where I had been called. She couldn't find it. So she left to go get my baby. The young man brought her to me, which REALLY pissed me off bc I was NOT done talking to her, who was a manager!! So THAT was rude that she didn't even bring her to me!! The young man pulled out their phone and he said, "oh she called another number twice, she got your # wrong". Well, maybe you should CHECK the book more carefully where you wrote my # down in the first place! I checked my baby's ears, they had NOT been cleaned out, AT ALL! Her nose was SKINNED TO THE BONE, she has a nasty cut under her left arm that I can't get stopped from bleeding, her cut is UNeven ALL OVER. Oh I paid, and REGRET it 100% bc I guess I just don't understand the customer's rights. Anyways, I got home and my son said she didn't even smell clean. My allergies are all stopped up, so I couldn't tell. So I don't believe she had been bathed! I had to clean out her ears and they weren't even attempted to get cleaned by the groomers. I called up there to talk to the manager and I told her that I would really need that charge to be reversed bc this was just unacceptable. I told her that they SKINNED my baby's nose and she disputed that. So I told her I could send her a pic of her nose and her ears. So she gave me the # and I did. I also said she didn't even smell clean. So she texted me that she bathed my baby twice. She never once responded to me if she got the pics I sent her. But I did say, "Sweetie, if you bathed my baby twice, her ears would be clean and she would smell clean, but instead she smells like she's been running around outside". So at this point, I know I won't be refunded. That's fine, lesson learned, but I will NEVER EVER bring my baby here again. read more

I previously wrote about how Mr Steve at Mr Mutt refused to service my 20lb peke because he couldnt handle him. I took him to Pretty Pup on Dalrock and HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM. Pretty Pup was a cleaner environment, much nicer employees, cheaper and did a much better job. I used Mr Mutt for as long I can remember with all of my dogs. WONT BE BACK! This is a wonderful place staffed by the most friendly, helpful people you could hope to find! I was concerned when I moved to Rowlett that I could find a place as good as the shop I used in North Dallas. Much to my delight, Mr. Mutt is even better!! I absolutely love this place. The owner and his daughter are awesome. I have never had issues in the 5 years I have been going here. They are always accommodating and friendly. After the Dec 26th tornado, they even groomed all 3 of my pups and let me pay later at less than half price! They always have knowledgeable advice based on any findings. One of my rescues had major fleas and they advised me the best way to treat them long term. My vet and Mr. Mutt are the 2 places that I will always use for my pups! Thank you Mr. Mutt! read more

I live in Rowlett and switched over to Mr. Mutt several years ago. I have never had any problems and Steve and the staff have always done a really good job. I won't go to another pet grooming business because I would never get such good service. There have been no problems and I find the friendliness to be refreshing. The cost of service for washing, grooming and nail clipping is more than affordable compared to other grooming services. I feel like I can trust all the staff with my doggie. If I have a question or a concern it is addressed promptly and to my satisfaction. I am happy; the dog is happy and looks well groomed when he has completed his sartorial adventure at Mister Mutt.
