I have been coming to this Petsmart for a while now and have never had a problem. The cashiers are always polite and friendly and they always have the food I need for my cat. This specific visit I attempted to use a coupon that I thought was for Petsmart. The coupon was not scanning at the register. The cashier and I were trying to figure out what the issue was but weren't seeing any problems. The cashier was very polite and called the manager, Boba?, over to assist. That's when the visit went south. Boba took one look at the coupon and in the ugliest attitude and with the nastiest facial expression said "what the heck is that?!?". I attempted to explain was the coupon was and swiped through the email to show it was a birthday coupon. That's when she noticed the Petco logo and proceeded to throw attitude and nasty faces at me ending the conversation with "a coupon for petco?" And without another word walked away before I could even respond. I have never had an experience like that with any business and especially not from a manager?? I don't know the manager's name but he worked 3/26/2021 around noon. I had to travel 78 miles to get a specific dog food because they were out everywhere close to me. I ordered 9 online, I didn't get a confirmation email so I called them. Anyway, they had 21 cans and they said they would save them for me to pick up. I get there several hours later, got them and the manager came out to talk to me. He said since I live in Bryan, TX, he did some calling around and found another 16 cans if I wanted them. They were out everywhere else around them. Same situation as around me. Anyway! My point is: he didn't have to do that. He went above and beyond for me and I appreciate it SO much. I don't normally do reviews unless they are bad but this man deserves some special recognition for going above and beyond. I hope he gets it. I appreciate him. read more

I wish I could give negative points for this location. By all means I highly highly encourage anyone to never take your dog to the daycare or boarding hotel. My dog was injured there and they didn't do anything to take care of him. Then on a completely different visit they tell me my dog is aggressive and he is a legal service dog and plays at other daycares and several other animals and never ever has been aggressive. They took it out on my puppy and refused to show me video or give me names. I have officially filed with corporate to take care of this because again these are just two issues I've had over many. This review is more toward a particular tech at the grooming salon than the grooming services itself. I have taken both my standard poodle and labradoodle here several times and I have always enjoyed the people and their services. I booked a quick last minute service today with the tech Tamara K. I have dealt with her before and thought I wasn't a fan but I was desperate and it was a while ago so I figured maybe it was just a bad day the last time I tried with her. She came up to greet us and started to inspect my labradoodle. I started to tell her how I had brushed her before coming in and that she still feels rough but she's an easy brush out. Not even looking at me or acknowledging what I was trying to say Tamara goes "yeah we are going to have to shave her" I tried to explain to her that she has NEVER been shaved there and that other techs have never had that issue. (In fact a tech there has told me afterward, "you were right, she's an easy brush out). She began to just shake her head and tell me how she would have to be shaved which I stated that has never had to happen in the past and was certainly not about to happen now, especially down to the shortest. Instead of her acknowledging my concerns she just kept saying she will have to be shaved and wouldn't even try to discuss options. I of course ended up leaving to which she said to me as I was putting the collar back on my dog: "if you take a fine comb to her you'll see what I mean" ... excuse me? Please don't school me on MY DOG that I have had groomed for all 3 years of her life. This is the second tome I've dealt with Tamara K and this is the second time she's been like this. I don't know if she's lazy or doesn't have the proper skills, but like I previously stated, not one other tech at that PetSmart has ever simply told me during the greet "yeah I have to shave her" before even asking what I want done. I'm pretty much over this place now, which is a shame because I love Hayley when she is available and Chris. When they're not available I shouldn't have to worry about who I am sending my dogs to, but I guess I do now. ‍ read more

THIS PLACE DESERVES ZERO STARS!!!! This place does not care about your pets! They just care about the dollar. I felt so horrible that i left my dog in such a place. I dropped my dog off at the Pet Hotel and ended up having to pick him up at the Pet Hospital!!!!!!!!! For one i would like to point out that the staff would not let me see where my dog would be staying although i paid for all the room upgrades. i later found out why from another employee. It is because it is filthy back there... and every time your dog uses the bathroom in the kennel they clean it out with a water hose!!!! ...which is why my dog ended up at the hospital. they were watering his testicles, and then leaving him to sit the entire day and night on concrete floors, which turned his testicles blue. When i arrived back from my trip, i had a voicemail from the pet hospital ONLY!!!!!!! The pet hotel never even contacted me to let me know that there was an issue with my pet and that he was admitted to the hospital. The Pet Hotel also did NOT contact any of the emergency contacts i left behind. it is not a good feeling when you pick your perfectly healthy dog up and he has a cone around his head! i was also given a bottle of steroids with instructions for him to take for an entire month! When i confronted the front desk clerks they were rude about it. they told me they did not know their corporate telephone number and that there was no managers on duty. One huge guy went to go talk to someone on the phone (he said was a manager) and was laughing about the situation, it was a really sad situation considering my dog is my life... as well as A LIFE... and these people found it funny that he was hurt due to not properly being take care of. They felt because they paid for the vet bill that they did owe many any other explanation. When they were IN FACT the reason my dog was in the vet in the first place. and had it not been for the Vet, i would have never known something was wrong with my dog. It is beyond clear that the Pet Hospital was trying to cover the fact that he was sent the hospital up. The vet was even appalled with the Hotel's behavior. read more

Apathy. Yeah, I get it. Retail can be soulsucking. But what my 6 year old and I experienced this afternoon, has made it impossible for my family to shop at this chain ever again. We stopped in for a couple of items (full discosure...dog flea shampoo and a bag of crickets for my daughter's Rankins Dragon, Spike.) First off, there was no staff on the floor. Watched one couple in the fish department leave the store due to complete lack of customer service. Well they store the crickets in the fish department. The customer service desert. No notice posted as to what to do if you need crickets. Bunch of bags, elastic bands...no instructions. No customer service. We wait in line to consult the only customer "care" specialist...the lone cashier on duty. Slow would be a compliment. Got to the front of line. Asked the cashier where to get a bag of crickets. He motioned me back towards the fish department. After being dismissed, I stood, eyes looked with Petsmart's finest. "Um," he finally adds, "would you like me to get someone to help you with that?" "Yessss....please." We return to the fish department awaiting the cricket wrangler. Minutes pass. During our wait we notice a dying fish in one of the tanks. Our customer service angel finally descends. "What do ya need?" she asked. "20 medium crickets." "Carton?", she sighed. "Excuse me?" "Carton. Carton? Egg carton?!?" "Oh! Yes, please." As she wrapped the bag closed with a rubber band, My daughter, distressed, pointed out the dead/dying fish. "Can you help her?", she urged. Without a glance in her direction, she flatly replied, "No." We get our crickets and head back to the cashier. Most importantly or most apalling of all. During this entire time, a mother was shopping with her 2 boys, one of which was seemingly developmentally disabled. He would occassionaly wail at a loud volume. Now, this is our second trip through this cashier's line. First trip, the cashier was unaware of what the wailing was all about. Second time through, he knows and it's suddenly very funny to him. Tossing off showstoppers like "At least it's not one of our puppies." And, finally, my personal favorite which he appeared to share with someone that I could only imagine was the floor manager in the adjacent office... "God, it sounds like a dying goat, right?: Speechless. What to do? Make a stand and potentially upset the mother and her sons. Or grab my daughter, still waiting tankside, watching a dead/dying yellow koi. Mention the dying fish (bottom row, 4th tank from the left) to the "manager" in the office on the way out. I paid and ask to talk to the manager but Ginger the manager in grooming just blew me off.... One star only because I had to, to write a review. We boarded our dog at PetSmart for Labor Day weekend and guys let me tell you... wasn't a pleasant experience. My dog came back with a viral infection and rashes on his scrotum. NEVER EVER again will I board any of my dogs at PetSmart. I will pay extra for private boarding but at least I know he'll be fine and will be well taken care of. Folks, please think twice before you board your babies there. They starved my 7 month old puppy! If I could give negative stars I would! I was very specific that she is free fed and if her bowl is empty it needs to be refilled. My puppy was there for 6 1/2 days and lost 5 pounds!!! They told us she ate all her food m, so I couldn't figure out why she had so much food left over and was so thin. I called up there the next day and spoke to a manager, my puppy's file was pulled and it was written in the system that she was only to be fed in the morning 3 cups and that was it for the whole day!!! A puppy only eating once a day?! Are you out of your minds?!? The manager also said they pick up all food bowls at 9am. My baby eats 6-8 cups a day and was extremely healthy! This is an outrage. If you do the math, my baby ate barely half of what she is used to. Who stupid can these people be?! This is a serious concern. Don't trust this place! read more

Ten days after our dog ate Hills Science Diet Adult 1-6 which we had bought at PetSmart in Round Rock, TX in April 2019, he developed a serious inflammation of his gall bladder and had to be euthanized. The food was a lot darker than usual, and about 3 days after he started eating it a began to spit large amounts of mucus and stopped eating. We took him to his veterinary doctor, who suspected something really wrong after examining him and giving him a blood test. He referred us to a clinic for an ultrasound, which confirmed the large damage to his gallbladder (Mucocele), and had to be put to sleep. Because of the above, our advice is do not buy this food from PetSmart, as it will put your pet in danger to develop the deadly condition our loving pet did. PetSmart will deny that this food is dangerous. Keep your pet away from PetSmart. read more

I was going to the same groomer for two years straight. And then the problem started as the groomer missed appointments, rescheduling and I showed up to a scheduled appointment and they act like I was at a hotdog stand and not the groomers. The grooming staff were rude and didn't even try to reschedule and they just stared as I asked them to look me up. If you like consistency please don't go here. read more

So this was my first time going to this PetsMart and I will not ever bring my baby back. I took my fur baby Milo to this establishment and he was groomed by Christopher, I normally go to the other PetsMart off Howard and 35. His grooming normally runs me around $58 plus the tax. Christopher was told at the beginning not to cut my baby low.. I guess he heard the opposite because my baby is bald as hell. Milo looks like a rat with no skin, he was shaking and scared when my daughter picked him up, Milo is a Purebred Yorkie and it's winter season and I did not want him cut bald. He looks horrible and I am very disappointed and upset with the outcome of this whole grooming experience. He have like scratches or cuts on his stomach not sure how he got them, he did not have them when he was dropped off. While speaking with Christopher on the phone He called my dog a she , which I had to correct him, I asked him how much was the bill it.. he said $88 plus tax, I paid $95.27 which should of been $58 plus tax. I asked him for what.. he said that he was matted on his stomach, I told him that's a lie my dog was definitely not matted, especially on his stomach, Milo hair is very silky and soft and I brush him on a regular basis because he likes the attention so that's an extra price, he also said he had to use a flea shampoo .. extra money as well , I asked him for what.. he said for two fleas he found on Milo.. that's a lie.. my dog do not go outside, nor do he be around other dogs, he is a house dog and he has a area on our balcony with artificial grass where he does his business.. so he definitely wasn't matted and nor did he have fleas, I told him my dog do not have fleas and never have, he was over talking me on the phone very nonchalant about the issue, his attitude was very rude and disrespectful .. also he just had a vet visit next door four days before and they didn't find any fleas or anything.. which the lady told me she checked , so now all of a sudden he. Christopher found two fleas , so now I'm trying to figure out where the fleas come from.. maybe the cage they put him in waiting to get groomed, I feel like he totally took advantage and added extra so that he could finish the day out with some cash in his pocket. This was a horrible experience for my fur baby Milo and for me.. I will never ever bring him back to this establishment and I will go to the next level with this because this is unacceptable, I know my dog and I know for a fact he was not matted nor did he have fleas. All that extra Christopher added was because he needed his commission or pay to be a little more , but taking advantage of someone is not the way to do it. After reading the reviews, which I should have done first, I see I'm not the only one that this establishment has pulled a fast one on. If you are reading this please do not take your fur baby here to this establishment, they will harm your baby and charge you unnecessary money. Save your self the time and find another establishment to pamper your fur baby. This is truly unfair and unjust. My dog is a pound puppy with some territorial hangups. My attempt to get a home pet sitter ended up disastrously last year when he bit her upon arrival. I resigned myself to staying close to home. But, I have since learned that he is fine when he is not on his home turf. I have used The Petshotel twice to board him and he's been fine! They understand he's not very social and are sweet with him. He even gets a little "report card" about his day like at kid daycare. They'll even let you call and talk to your pet if you want. Recent stories about another pet store (Petco,you know I mean YOU!) losing someone's dog made me shudder. I don't worry about that at PH because they have a special "Potty Room" so the dogs stay inside the whole time, so no chance of getting loose. And no, he doesn't potty in the house when he gets home. There is also a separate door to the PH and an offset door to the store itself, so it would be harder for one to bolt out. I felt guilty at first sending him to board because he was pretty traumatized to find himself at TLAC when I got him. He seems fine and happy when he comes home from PH. They said he really digs the doggy ice cream sundaes. Prices aren't cheap, $27 a day for regular, deluxe a bit more, $1 extra for the ice cream. But, it is invaluable to be able to finally go on vacation w/o worrying. read more

My review is not about the general store here, but about the special services, like Doggy Day Camp. I had the bright idea of shampooing my carpets and dropping my Bull Terrier off for a few hours at Doggy Day Camp so he wouldn't be underfoot, and still got to have some fun. When I entered the store the staff was very friendly and willing to give me information about the day camp and boarding. I asked to leave my pup there and pick him up in a few hours, but once they knew he was a Bull Terrier they refused him. Apparently they refuse any dog with a "locking jaw". mind you, no dog's jaw actually locks!!! They are a powerful breed but not dangerous in temperament. Anyways, they were kind and apologized for the situation, but shame on you Petsmart! You advocate loving animals yet refuse to allow certain breeds to come play. What standard are you putting forward? Hate some because of breed and not temperament? Mind you, my pup was there, 7 months old and full of puppy happiness. So to sum it up, its a beautiful store but if you have ANY bully breed, don't bother. read more

I recently took my little 6-year-old Daschund here for a grooming/nail clipping, and was very surprised at not only the cost, but how quickly they were able to accommodate us. For a bath, nail clipping/grinding, and expressing of the anal glands (thank god they do that - she was starting to smell awful), we only paid $40. Not too bad for a next-day appointment. With that said, I do have some feedback/criticism. I initially scheduled my appointment over the phone for the next day. I was scheduled to bring our dog in at 8 PM the following evening. I showed up at 8, and realized that I forgot to bring her past medical paperwork - totally my mistake. I live about 3 minutes from this particular PetsMart, and when I offered to run home and grab the paperwork, something that would have taken me no more than 7 minutes, I was told to reschedule because the appointment itself would take an hour and a half, and they close at 9. Why would an hour-and-a-half-long appointment be scheduled at 8 PM anyways if you close at 9? That didn't make much sense to me. The only other reason that I give this PetSmart 3 stars is their lack of professionalism. It may seem petty, but both times I went in, there were 3 or 4 groomers sitting and staring at their phones. When I was signing our dog in for the appointment, one woman who was actively grooming a dog made a personal phone call and did that whole 'hold the phone between your head and shoulder' trick while she brushed/trimmed the dog. I don't know, but If I came in to pick up my dog and saw her being passively groomed like that, I probably wouldn't come back. I want my dog to get the attention that Im paying for. In the end, they did a good job. My dog came out, tail wagging, and smelling great. And not only that, they only had her for an hour. I would bring my dog back to PetSmart for grooming, but probably not this particular location. read more

I had my dog, Duncan, boarded here yesterday night. I was a little concerned because Duncan can get snappy when he's uncomfortable. However, I see that the staff here did an excellent job with Duncan and he came home with a great report! I also had his nails grinded while he was there because they were getting long, and I see that they're smooth and won't scratch my furniture. Overall I was very pleased with the service, and it was at an affordable price that I couldn't find at other boarders. Next time I board him, I might try having them do a training session with him! read more

My wife and I have have taken our dogs to PetSmart for years. We recently relocated to Round Rock and may have to find different groomers. When we arrived to pick up my dog after his grooming session today, the attendant handed us a bill and told us we must go pay before we can retrieve our dog. This wasn't the normal PetSmart policy we were used to but figured policy may vary per location. I chose to wait in the salon while my wife went to pay the bill. While I waited I saw another African American couple arrive with their payment receipt in their hand. The attendant then gave them their dog. Shortly afterwards, a Caucasian man entered and asked for his dog. The attendant set out to get his dog without mentionkng him paying nor giving him a bill. She then turned around and asked for my dog's name again. My wife arrived with the receipt and we got our dog back. Meanwhile the Caucasian man was given his dog and his bill and allowed to rummage the store and eventually pay. You should not have different rules for different races! I encourage everyone to stay away and spend your money somewhere where you won't be treated differently because of your skin color. read more

I wish Yelp did not require giving a star because this location does not deserve one. I recently moved to Texas from Illinois and needed somewhere to board my dog for the holidays. I took my dog in on a Monday and they began the check-in process. The lady assisting us was about to take our dog back to the area she would be staying in when she mumbled something about the kennel number under her breath. We asked what was wrong with that kennel and she admitted that it was for small dogs, and our dog weighs fifty pounds. I told her I would not be keeping my dog there since they could not give her the appropriate size space. She immediately blamed someone else for the mistake and said she would have it taken care of. I insisted that it did not seem right, so they moved her to the "right size" cage. I should have followed my gut and not left her there... I went to pick her up on Sunday and when they brought her out to me she was covered in both fresh and old urine. Some areas of her fur were dry and stiff, and some were freshly soaked with urine. I went to pet her head and immediately noticed that her eyes were bright red. I had a hard time believing it, as she's never had allergies, but sure enough they were both bright red. I asked one of the employees what was wrong and he did not know. He said he's colorblind and suggested we take her to a vet if we are worried. I requested to speak to someone that could actually help, so he brought me to another random employee. This woman suggested that maybe my dog "pulled too hard" on the leash. After I mentioned that this has NEVER happened to me with her, she said "maybe it's allergies". Again, she's never shown signs of allergies. I asked to speak to the manager, and apparently the first man I talked to was the manager of the pet hotel. I asked to talk to someone above him, so he brought out the store owner. I was relieved because I thought I might find some answers, but the store manager was the rudest one of all. He was incredibly defensive and insisted that he did not know what was wrong with her, and also said that his employees did not notice her eyes otherwise they would have said something to us. During this conversation I also asked why she was covered in urine, to which he explained that if I wanted a bath for my dog, I would have to pay extra. I asked why they would not hose her down when they see her soaked in urine, and he said that's not that they do unless we pay for it. We asked for compensation because the idea of paying $222 for our dog to be treated poorly seemed absurd, and he refused to compensate anything. He suggested we come back to the vet in the morning, and after explaining that I have work, we finally agreed on a trip to the emergency vet because I was not going to settle for not knowing what happened. He covered the cost of the visit, but still refused to compensate any of the $222 for our dog to sit in urine for 7 days. Needless to say, I will not be using the pet hotel again, or any of their services. Our dog's eyes cleared up by the next morning, so she was clearly staying in very unsanitary conditions. If you want your dog to be treated properly and not be neglected, please go elsewhere. read more

This is one of those mega -Petsmarts with all the bells and whistles. They have your regular store, but what makes this Petsmart different from all the others is that it has a PetsHotel in the same store. It's your one-stop shop for grooming, veterinary services, boarding, and retail shopping. Friendly staff work the floors. I thought it was pretty neat that the workers were walking the dogs both inside and outside of the store - I wondered if those dogs were being boarded here since there wasn't an obedience class going on, so it makes sense if they were PetsHotel guests. BUT, today, I had a great experience with Jessica, who asked if I needed any help when she saw me down a fish aisle, looking at water conditioners. We took our elderly dog here yesterday for her first grooming and I could not say enough good things about our experience! We got Margaret S. as our groomer and she was the best! Very patient and considerate. She did a nose to tail assessment of our dog before starting and listened to each concern we had. She did a fabulous job grooming her, even though our dog was very skittish of the whole situation and had to take breaks to sit down during the session. Our dog came out looking fantastic and happy. I love this PetSmart! The Banfield here is superb - it may be a different branch than the Petsmart itself, but the people here really deserve the highest recommendation. Our poodle gets into trouble OFTEN - he has had lacerations, bites from other dogs, and has had Kennel Cough. No matter what though, we can count on this Banfield location to get us an appointment quickly and help us see our favorite doctor, Dr. Gonzalez. The store itself is great, lots of good selection for dog owners. We've bought oodles of toys here as well as treats. We love the grooming department as well. We called for a same-day appointment and they accommodated us. In addition to that, Jazzmin did a great job on our fussy, hairy young dog. The only branch we really haven't tried is the PetsHotel, but you can't go wrong with Banfield, Grooming, or the Petsmart itself. read more

Wow, I am shocked by the poor reviews here. My pug is so loved by the team at Petsmart! Any time we take him in for boarding, day camp, or grooming the employees treat him so well. Just last night we were in getting him groomed and the hotel employees followed us up to the counter just to say hi to us! Like others I have had my pup's stuff come back smelling like pee, but I was told they usually clean bedding and toys before dogs are picked up, we had just gotten there too early. The last time we boarded our dog, his bed was completely cleaned, even more clean than we had brought it in. I love that they always give me a "Pawgress report" when I pick up my dog to see how his stay went. Even better, it always comes with coupons! Coupons are good for other hotel or grooming services as well as dog food, treats, etc. read more

This place is great. Lots of amenities and cool services like a pet hospital, grooming, doggy day care, training, and much more! However, this employee named James really ticked me off. I was buying a nail trimmer for my puppy. The kind that spins and files down the nail without hurting your dog. Well this guy tries to tell me how a power tool/grinder is the best product for my dog. Who hired this guy? Power tools and animals don't mix.( like I'm going to use a grinder on my puppy) REALLY pissed me off. I'm not asking for any of your snarky advice, James. Rethink this place if you are on a timeline... of any kind. I had an appt at 5:30 on a Wednesday. After sitting in a room until 6:30 without seeing the Vet I walked to the front desk to reschedule. My new appt was on Friday at 5:30. I got a call the day before saying they had overbooked the 5:30 and there would be a 2 hour wait. I explained that this had already happened to me which is why this was a re-schedule. The lady responded that was typical with walk-ins. Worst experience at this location I take my dog for a grooming and this guy call Jonathan b treat my dog bad he was scared and shaking and aggressive I always take him to the location on Parmer and i35 and I never have a problem on the last 2 years till now I saw him treating a dog bad but still trust my dog what a mistake I make and I also speak to talk to manager she was rude and unhelpful she didn't solve the problem all she said I was wrong she saw my dog shaking all she said he it's the best groomer here he wasn't for my dog, please be careful don't let someone inexperienced to take care you're dogs, read more

The employees here are generally nice and helpful except for one thing - the everchanging veteran's discount. I usually don't make it a big deal but we just got a new puppy and have been in a TON recently. Each time we are met with a different answer. "We only do it on Tuesday's", "We don't do that at all", "We only do that every other Thursday". Would love to know what the actual policy is so that we can time our visits around it... read more

I was going to bring my dog in for a nail trim this morning. When I walked into grooming, there was a dog on a table that was definitely in destress. It was crying and biting at the lead holder. The groomer did not show concern and was chatting with another groomer and pulling on the dog's leg to cut its fur. I walked out very upset with the treatment of someone's dog. read more

Just took my older pups for grooming. Josh did an amazing job!! Thank you for such wonderful care and grooming! The staff is so helpful and always has such a positive attitude. They definitely show their love for your pup and individualize their clip. read more

Warning to ALL!!! Don't not get your dog groomed here,my got injured and bled all over my car when I picked him up,and they still expected me to pay!!! I expect my dog to be treated so well and they clearly don't care about animals. read more

We left our Lab and Maltese at the Petshotel for a week while we were out of town. When we came to pick them up our lab seemed fine, but we'd paid for a bath for her since she's so hard to bathe at home. Our Maltese is much easier to bathe at home so we didn't order him a bath - and he was covered in urine! He was yellow from about his neck down to his tail on his underside. He's a white dog and his paws are still yellow, despite their free grooming to somehow make up for it. We don't know for sure what happened but we're worried that he was neglected and spent the week wallowing in his own filth. We won't be using them again. read more
