I picked up my dog with a severe urinary tract infection, only after 2 nights of boarding. The staff could not answer my questions about what happened during that time. They insinuated that she held her urine, which is not believable. My vet was appalled at the severity of the infection and asked where she was boarded. She is on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Her urine is so bloody, I feel sorry for her. I will never board my dog with PetSmart again and I will make sure my friends and family hear about what happened. read more

This review is for the Pet Hotel. The staff is friendly and buttoned-up. They not only took time to explain their treatment/care of each 'hotel guest' but also answered (a lot of) Q&A from my parents and me. When they learned my dog was a shelter dog (adopted after being rescued from an abusive situation), they made notes / took steps to help him acclimate to the hotel. Would highly recommend this place for boarding. read more

Very happy with this PetSmart. They closed their Arlington Heights location and opened this store at Randhurst. The major difference is that this location has day camp for dogs. We take our dogs there frequently (we have unpredictable work hours) and they're allowed to play with other day campers for seven hours a day. Needless to say, they're wiped out by the time we pick them up. They lay around the house and rest the day after their stay, too! The staff at the hotel/camp are very friendly. They remember our dogs and are always happy to see us walking in. One of the trainers, Heather, also accompanied PetSmart to the new location. She's extremely knowledgeable and her training practices really work. She was recommended to us by a couple friends who also had her for a trainer. Watching our puppy pick up on commands and tricks so quickly made us believers! I can't give five stars because we had an issue with Banfield misdiagnosing one of our dogs while we were in the middle of a vacation 600+ miles away from home (fortunately, the diagnosis was completely overblown and there was no issue at all). Other than that, this store is exceptional. We have a Petco right up the street from us and have no problem passing them by. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR PET DAYCARE It's against there policy let you see the areas the dogs play in. When I asked 4 times they said they would note my file saying I wanted to see where my dogs are all day! When asked why it's against there policy they said because I could fall!!! Sounds very shady I also said I wouldn't bring her back if I couldn't see it they didn't care still wouldn't let me back there. Beware when you call they tell you no problem you can go back there! If your dog gets there before 9 or is there after 5 they are in a cage alone! When i picked my dog up she smelled like pee and French Vanilla. I'm 99 percent sure they sprayed something on her to cover up the smell of pee. Found out she smelled like pee because they only let them pee in there cages and in the room they are in!!! read more

Lousy customer service in the grooming area. I won't be back with my pup. Would give zero stars if I could.

I really like this location. The staff had always been very friendly and helpful. I mostly come here for fish and fish supplies and I have bought my hamster at this location as well. They only sell females which I wasn't thrilled with, I've had better luck with male hamsters but that's just what they get delivered. I've even had to call a few times to see if they had certain fish in stock and they were friendly over the phone. Very happy with my experience. read more

Do not get your dog groomed here, we used to take our dog here but one time they clipped his nail too short and we kept bringing him there since they said sorry and accidents happen but another time he came back really traumatized and scared when we tried to take him again he had lots of anxiety and tried to do everything not to go, I don't know what they did to him but it obviously it traumatized him. Other than that it's a good place to get supplies for your pets. Just spend the extra money and get your dog groomed and a nice place. read more

I took my little Silky terrier there twice for grooming. 2 different groomers did an excellent job on her. Very satisfied. Bill

I love, love, love the staff at this PetsHotel. My dog loves coming here, the staff is really friendly and recognize my dog Ruby before I even get all the way to the counter and her tail is definitely wagging! I always get a report card and almost always with a freshly washed blanket. At Christmas they sent me a picture of my dog while I was away, and they offer holiday treats and sometimes festive bandanas. I have taken my dog to another PetsHotel that is actually closer to my new house and it's a completely different experience. I go out of my way to keep coming here because of the staff. Thanks for taking great care of my pup! read more

Don't ever take your dog to this boarding . These "caretakers" called me while I was out of town . To tell me my dog has feces stuck in his fur . Interesting that this never has happened while in my care . Because his fur getting so matted , they had to get him shaved around his bottom area . When I brought him home he was crying because he was so itchy and irritated . They gave me a cone put on him . I however applied ointment and aloe . He cried for few days . Petsmart took no responsibility. If anything it seemed like they were not watching him and his fur just stay matted with fences, and he wasn't cleaned right away. First and last time I will bring him. read more

My puppy Loki just started puppy training classes with Robyn a trainer at the Mount Prospect Pet Smart location. We just completed our first class and I can not explain how impressed my husband and I are with the amount of passion Robyn has. She not only explains reasons for your pups behavior but she also gives you demonstrations using the pups in the class. She encourages us as owners to build a bond with our pup and to show the pup to come to us for guidance. We all know each pup has their own personality and it is so interesting to see how she can just do simple things that make a huge impact on the pup and us as owners! It is truly nice to know we are in good hands and I truly look forward to Robyn's classes, her amazing personality, and I look forward to building a great relationship with our pup! Thank you Robyn!! read more

$95 for a 23 lb mini bernedoodle to get a bath?!? Not only was I incredibly overcharged, but i purposefully didn't book a haircut because i didn't want my dog cut. I pick her up 3 hours later & see then that they cut her face. read more

Do not buy fish from this store went there today all the tanks have snails in them store employee was not interested in fixing the problem

Love the grooming people here. They seem very patient with lil copper here, a chihuahua...but a friendly chihuahua! Staff is always very nice and helpful, everyone we've run into here are real animal lovers which I hope is always a given for a pet store but not necessary true. We didn't really like the training we had here as it definitely seemed liked a t-ball coach that just wants their team to try and have fun out there. Now it's not bad but guess I just expected more. Overall a nice clean organized store. read more

I can tell you they have a huge selection of toys Stopped here only cuz companion specifically needed a Petsmart. Would not make this a routine stop as the prices on cat food (F Feast .65 can!!) are way too high. They do carry Sheba moist cat food, which I cannot find at my local Pets Supplies Plus. read more

In November I took my nervous staffordshire terrier here for a nail trim with Deliliah and it was super easy. She took my dog by the leash, hopped him up on the table, hooked his collar to their hook, and trimmed his nails. DONE. No fuss. Last night at 7pm I took him to get his nails trimmed there despite them letting me know they had let Delilah go (for undisclosed reasons), and we would have to follow their protocol with the other random nail trimmer who insisted on getting on the floor and becoming best friends with my dog before she could cut his nails. No treats. Nothing. Lady, not all dogs want to be your best friend within five seconds while you're crouched down in their face. Maybe at least walk him with his leash to the table. Nope. It was her way or the highway. If your dog is at all nervous about getting his nails trimmed, you need a professional who understands that having a trainer vibe is what makes the dog feel like you have the situation under control. Not all dogs want baby noises and direct eye contact. FAIL. I do not recommend this groomer. read more

The 1 star goes only for the grooming department. I usually bring my 2 maltipoos to the petsmart in schaumburg to get them groomed. With unforeseen circumstances though we had to bring them to the one in mount prospect, which is way closer to the house. Anyway, the groomers were very friendly but just like one of the previous reviewers the dogs ended up having uneven bangs with emo faces. It would've been ok if it were just the bangs but even the fur on their body was uneven. It looked like a 3 year old child got hold of the scissors and the dog (i'll let you imagine the rest). We actually didn't notice when we picked them up because we were in such a rush. The following morning when we got a closer look we decided to call and asked if we could bring them back. They agreed to fix whatever was wrong and was very apologetic which I really appreciated. So we brought them back and the groomer said it would take about an hour. They called when the dogs were ready. Sad to say, it seemed as if nothing changed from when we brought them in. Everything was still sticking out every which way! I didn't want to waste anymore of my time and energy arguing so I just took the dogs and bought scissors to trim them myself. It took a very long time but they looked SSSSOOOOO much better when I finished. All in all I wasted $127, time and energy! I will never bring them back here again!!!! I'd rather go the extra miles to schaumburg and get what I pay for. read more

I have been going to the Mount Prospect Petsmart for the past 10 years. I get all my pet supply and services here. Yesterday the grooming salon called to reschedule my dogs grooming that I have scheduled 2.5 weeks ago because they booked an express groom from a customer who booked at a later date. I told the groomer who is the salon manager that I have been a long time customer and this made me unhappy since I made the appointment first. She said she had to think about the safety of other dogs in the salon because my dog howls during her groom. (My dog does not bite.) I told her this is why I bring my dog on a weekday morning as she has suggested in the past. She said she would call me back and never did. So instead of taking my dog to the groomer I am writing this review. In a market where we can buy all our dog supplies online this is a good way to alienate a long time customer. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Thank you. Our 7 month old cocker spaniel puppy is a handful. She is all energy. Consequently, grooming her can be a difficult. We met Diana on our way to puppy class, she saw how Gracie (our puppy) was not looking like a Cocker. She said that she would be able to handle our little bundle of excitement. Her hair was long enough that she resembled a Wookie. Never in our wildest dreams did we expect her to be able to groom her as expertly as she did. Gracie looks like a different dog. She is a beautiful black and brindle little girl. As strange as it may seem, Gracie is a little calmer. I cannot recommend Diana enough. She is a true professional. read more

Terrible, unprofessional, would give -5 stars if possible. Appt starts with groomer barreling in through doors with another dog, about knocked me over, dogs entangled, maybe an "excuse me?" Nope. Two coworkers comment on her behavior, still no apology, nothing said. Groomer disputes the service I reserved online. She re-quotes me based on a service that is not even listed online. I get home and review my appt placed and I am correct. When I pick up my dog I explain they overcharged me. BUT because I signed the quote sheet they say I must pay. Store manager gets involved. They look online, see that they are WRONG. Both store manager and groomer admit that the the online services do not match what is given or quoted-- groomer admitting she was told internally to quote the later. Store manager needs to call superior, I said I don't have time (I had already been there for 45 minutes disputing the charges, until 730 pm) I ask that they sort it out and contact me tomorrow. Mgr says they will not give me my puppy (as she sits on the table crying to come to me) bc I "didn't pay at another Petsmart." I told her that I had appt at another store, but the groomer canceled because she needed appt for haircut to brush and I didn't reserve that. The appt is marked "canceled" online. Mgr comes back and says if I don't pay I will be banned by all Petsmarts. I tell her this is slander (and libel since the one store put it in writing to another store in a report). I hope my puppy isn't too scared to go back to the groomer, she was very traumatized. I will never return to Petsmart for ANY service. I will also be reaching out to PS general counsel. read more

We have used this location for grooming our dogs for a long time and have always been pleased with the job they do. We love taking our dogs for training with Robyn at PetSmart Mount Prospect. Between our 2 dogs we have taken 5 classes and its amazing how well my dogs have done. They went from wild puppies to well trained dogs we can take to festivals, restaurant patios, and more. Not only is Robyn great with the dogs but she really connects with owners on a personal level. She gets dogs and has practical solutions to whatever behavior problem you bring to her. We have worked with Matt as well and he is great too. read more

As a former employee, I have nothing but respect for Kendra and the staff at this location. They take very good care of the boarders/daycare dogs and do an excellent job tiring out the day-camp puppies. Rest assured your four legged friend is in good hands at the Mount Prospect Petsmart PetsHotel. I've worked at other locations and you wouldn't believe how much neglect happens at some of the other facilities. Don't take any chances with your pet bring them somewhere you know they will be taken care of and treated ALMOST as well as you treat your animals ;) read more

I took my German Shorthair Pointer to get groomed on 1/12/19. After I picked him up, his mood seemed off the rest of the day. He was very quiet and was not as affectionate as he normally is. It made me wonder what they had done to him. The teenage girl handing him off to be snidely mentioned he needed obedience classes. He obeys us fine so I found the comment a little rude. When we got home I notice a small knick on his hind haunches as there was a little bit of fur missing... 5 days later his hair was falling out in larges amount, the skin underneath was flaking and sores were developing. We tired brushing him to help alleviate all the fur falling out but this just revealed more sores on his skin which caused bleeding. I have no idea what the groomer at PetSmart did to him or what product they used on him but they clearly caused a major skin irritation. We are having to spend hundreds of dollars on medicated shampoos and supplements to try healing his skin. I will never take any pet back to PetSmart to be groomed. read more

Wow! This place is amazing! We are the proud owners of a very spoiled Chocolate Lab. When my wife went back to work after moving to the area, we weren't sure what to do with our dog during the day, as she is elderly and unaccustomed to being alone for long periods of time. Since neither of us work close enough to home to let her out, we had to quickly explore our options; day care or a dog walker. We made an appointment for one week at PetSmart while we obtained dog walker quotes- the quotes were no longer necessary after the first day, as we were hooked! The staff at the PetSmart is second-to-none! They are always so excited to see our old girl, and watch over her as if she were their own while she is there. They cater to her every need, and make sure that she gets all the exercise, food, and belly-rubs that she could ever need. They also make sure to tell us if they see anything unusual, so we can check with the vet if necessary-- all in all, I think many children would be lucky to have the care and concern shown to them in day care as our dog receives there. Calling Petsmart was the best choice we could have made... If you're thinking about a dog walker, you should really consider this. It's not much more expensive, and our dog is exhausted at the end of the day from all the play with her friends. The best sign that she loves it is that she pulls on the leash every morning as she runs into the store so she can greet the staff. read more

I am happy with all things happening with Petsmart except for the Bansfield Hospital. Why call themselves a hospital when they cannot take immediate care needs? I am so upset since we have been a client for a long time and I still have to wait for the following week for my pet to see a vet. They don't handle emergency cases. Being called a hospital is a scam. The are the closest to my place and knows my pet dog so well and yet send me to another place? How frustrating. Change the name to Bansfield Clinic! read more

I love taking my Chihuahua named Peanut here. Though he has a phobia of the groomer, they really do an excellent job at cutting his nails, brushing his teeth, and freshening his breath. The first time I took him here, they finished his beautification by putting an adorable bandana around his neck and giving him a parting goodie bag. I like the way they pampered him and made him feel like the special boy he is. The employees here are really sweet and they give Peanut a lot of attention. He gets kind of grumpy and doesn't like trying on their clothes or picking out his squeaky toys, but the people who work here shower him with affection and make him and myself feel right at home. I do end up spending more money than I should because the people at this location really care for the welfare of the pets that shop here. Peanut even got to meet a toddler who also goes by the name Peanut! And, he has a really great collection of new toys that are all stored at his convenience in a very cute and fashionable basket. Even though my little Peanut doesn't like shopping for new toys, I like taking him here and giving him the full pet store experience. Now he has a new place to venture to and will always have a place to get new belongings, healthy organic food, and excellent grooming services. read more

The store is nice for shopping, but don't use the grooming salon. The new manager is nasty and very uncaring. My three dogs were uneven and looked terrible! The worst part was how my babies were treated. My dogs are rescues and are very anxious. I accidentally found out they were coning my baby! They did this because she nipped at the clippers. I was never told. They told me how wonderful they were. They didn't try to scissor her or calm her. I was never told anything! This is not okay! When I confronted them and said I should be told about any problem before you keep coning my dog I was told they won't be able to groom them any more. Really? Like I would be back! Words cannot express how wonderful the staff at the Petsmart are, especially at doggy day camp. I take my little schipperke, Leo, there frequently---and full-time when I am working. He LOVES it! He gets so excited when he realizes I'm pulling into the parking lot of the store! All the employees treat him like he's their own pet. I feel very comfortable leaving him at Petsmart and have the utmost respect for their operation. On a couple of occasions, I've had to leave Leo for extended periods and he's been very well cared for. What I really appreciate is that even though Leo is a smaller dog, they let him get down and dirty with the big guys because of his high energy level. I want to give a special shout out to Mitch and Dan, who are always friendly and helpful! Thanks to EVERYONE! The groomers too---I just love Petsmart! read more

I had been grooming at this salon for years since the days they were on Rand Rd. with the grooming manager. But NEVER EVER again thanks to Renee, the new salon manager. She is rude, told me that my dog and I were no longer welcome and that we should go elsewhere. This was done in front of other customers as well as salon workers. This started when my usual groomer left the salon so I had to book with someone else. I told the new groomer (Amber) that my dog was scratching himself often. She suggested a "CHI" shampoo. I said OK not knowing this was $25 extra. When I came to pick up my dog, my bill was double what it normally was. The groomer who was walking out of the salon as I came in said she had told me that and then proceeded to leave. She never told me the charge. I took my bill and my dog and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a manager, explained my situation. I think I should have been told the price upfront. The manager agreed with me and said he would remove the $25. I paid my bill and left the store. Last week I called for an appointment and was told they had no openings on Tues. Weds. or Thurs. Thursday morning I called again and apparently a new person answered and said they had several openings. I chose 12:30 p.m. When I got to the salon, I was greeted by "Renee", the new salon manager, who indicated my dog and I were no longer welcome. I asked why and was told I was constantly complaining about everything and she inferred that I had walked out on my bill. If I stayed to have her groom my dog, I was to pay up front. I declined and asked to speak to the store manager hoping I might get the same one who removed the charge. An assistant was there who looked thru my previous records and said he found I had complained that my dog had stiff legs (???). My dog is over 10. I didn't know this was a complaint. I have never been so humiliated in my life. If I had an employee who spoke to customers like Renee did with me, I would have fired her on the spot. Whatever happened to the customer is mostly right. read more

Not happy with service, extremely unfriendly. This is the second location where I've experienced less than average service. I asked for nail grinding and rather than tell me I needed a full service due to nail length, they just charged me for a "pawdicure" excluding what was even supposed to be included in that service. Busy, I get it. But they never let me know why I was being charged and just very visibly annoyed with customers in general. Will not go back. read more

It feels like my hubby and I live at this store. Charlie, our 60 pound, sweet-as-can-be dog, loves it here. He's been to doggie camp, the pet hotel, and 2 doggie schools. He LOVES doggie camp and always comes home tired because he's had so much fun. Although he was happy to come home after spending the night in the pet hotel, you could tell he was well taken care of. As for doggie school, now that we are finished with the 2nd class, we can really see the difference in his behavior. (We made it a point and will continue to do so, to practice with Charlie what we were taught in the class. Danielle was our instructor and she was great. Personally I think women can take away tips on how to train their husbands too. Just kidding. ;-) The staff at this PetSmart are so great. They remember us, which is nice, especially because they seem to really like our dog, which for us is like our first born son, so when they comment on how much he's grown, or his behavior has improved, it's a nice touch. The prices are standard but they have a lot of sales and you can get coupons emailed to you. We also adopted a kitten from the Star pet shelter at this PetSmart location. The kitten was one of the best choices we made. He was in good shape and well taken care of and a few months later we have an awesome, well adjusted 6 month old cat. Finally, we take both pets to the Banfield at this Pet Smart location. We are very happy with them too. read more
