I would give them zero stars but that again id not an option. I made a reservation got grooming my puppy and called to confirm the reservation. I got there and was told that I missed my day and time and had very bad language used to let me know that I missed the day and time. When asked what phone number they referred to, the phone numbet was incorrect asking with the name. I made this reservation over 2 weeks ahead and received this rude awakening. I cannot and will not recommend this service thi any pet owner what so ever.i would suggest instead wee little paws near Kildeer. THE WORST PLACE EVER! If I could give negative stars I would. My PUPPY was emotionally scared after going there for both daycare and grooming. I brought my PUPPY there so he would be able to play with other dogs and get socialized (the whole point of doggy daycare). I later learned my PUPPY was being locked up where the groomers worked so he was now terrified of people and being stepped on when you walk near him. He cried when I dropped him off and the woman at the counter said that is normal but he would be fine once he starts playing. I now know he was crying because he was afraid to go there. My heart is broken and I feel so guilty that I didn't protect him but I did not know this was happening. Also, the dogs have no outdoor area to potty so they all go in the facility which is both unhealthy for the dogs and reverses any progress of potty training. As it relates to grooming; they shaved my PUPPY'S face and body! When I compalined to the owners, they lied and said he was matted and needed to be shaved. My dog was being groomed every 4 weeks at his previous groomer so this is completely untrue. When I learned what was going on with daycare on top of the grooming issue, I voiced my displeasure to the owners and was told that they didn't want my *$(%@)* PUPPY there anyway. Are you kidding me right now?! In my opinion, they are not animal lovers; they are only in it for the money. If you love your dog, I would not recommend bringing them there. BEWARE! read more

If I could give no starts I would... 1) when I was greeted with my dog, she asked what I would like done and I stated just a cut and wash. I knew she was slightly matted, but this was the earliest at any groomer I could get her in anywhere and I didn't want her to get worse. She took my puppy and I had to ask her when would I know they were done? Would they call? Text? I got the response "oh I guess we'll call you, yeah." First red flag 2) I dropped her off at 11am and scheduled a dentist appt for my son at 12, thinking after we're done at the dentist, a couple hours should be enough time for them to be done. I called and asked at 1pm if she was ready....they had just started. I was immediately panicked, she's an anxious adopted dog, what was happening to her that whole time she was waiting? Why didn't they just say they weren't ready at 11, bring her back at 1? They said she would be ready at 2. 3) I picked her up and she was completely shaven, to the skin. They didn't say one word to me about her or apologize for the wait. The lady asked for my card and handed me the dog. 4) 3 days later my dog has had bloody diarrhea and no appetite, vet says she has contracted Colitis probably from a community water bowl, exposure to an unclean environment or another dog. Of course that would happen! Who knows what was happening the whole extra hour she was there. Simply disappointed by the entire experience and heartbroken for my pooch. My senior dog has been going to Biscuits and Bows for few years now. His haircuts have always been less than desirable, but I never minded as long as he was safe and happy because hair grows. Today, my dog came home with dried blood on his paw and two warts opened up. The groomer, Denice said that happened from irritating his wart while holding it. The owner, Karen was very argumentative and defensive. My senior dog was abused before I had him. I told them ahead of time he had cysts, warts, and is mostly blind. My dog has been going there for years and they never mentioned that he was difficult to groom. While I understand that with age dogs may change, the groomer told me he was like this the last time too. I feel like that should have been mentioned to me. I feel like as professionals they should have apologized profusely, made me aware, offer to have a vet look at it, give me a refund, say I can come and sit with him next time, etc. Instead, I was argued with, repeatedly told it was not an injury, but an irritation. My dog was bleeding. Blood is an injury to me. Frankly, I don't care if he was not cut, he was still hurt. I felt very disrespected and uncomfortable speaking to the owner and the groomer. Through some argument, the owner did give me a full refund, but responded by saying, "a refund is all you wanted." What I wanted was compassion, safety, care, empathy, respect, and kindness. Our Aussie went in for a grooming appointment this week and I was so impressed! They knew exactly who he was even though it was his first time and were so knowledgeable on Aussie cuts and asked about our preferences. His cut was amazing and he had such a good time! Such sweet people - we will definitely be going back again! I love that he can stay and play while getting groomed. They did ask us for all of his documents which I thought was wonderful and showed they are committed to keeping their dogs safe and taken care of. I checked the yelp reviews on the same day we had grooming appointment for our dog. It was too late to change the groomer and we decided to go with it despite the poor reviews. Not sure why they have such bad reviews but they we did a great job taking care of our dog. Such professional and straightforward staff. They told me that our dachshund and beagle mix wouldn't look so pretty if they trim her fur (I appreciate the honesty) but we knew how she would look like and she needed some haircut for the hot summer days. Our dog is nervous around other dogs which I mentioned the staff about it and they kept her separate from the other dogs. I took a look at the other dogs at the day care they seemed happy. I wish I could take my dog to the daycare for some play time but that's not something she would like sadly. read more

Let le start by saying that I actually do not bring my dog there but due the short interaction with one of their employee, I will certainly never will. On Friday 9/12 at around 5:30pm, I went to pick up an order from the next door restaurant (first time). As there was limited parking space in the lot, I parked right outside the restaurant like two other cars. Well, it appears that this is the line for pet pick up. My honest mistake...but I found that out the hard way. As I was returning to my car (not even 5min after) there was a honk as someone was trying to get out of the pick up line and some else was double parked blocking them in. Not thinking much of it, I continued getting in my car, at that point a lady working at the pet store gave me a very unsavory look. I smiled back not knowing what the issues was. She then decided to grimace a fake smile back and mumble something that was most likely not very nice. Honestly at that point I should have let it go, but I approached her hoping to find out what the issue was. Well, she let me have it...That is how I find out that I was not supposed to park there....not exactly sure what words she said but this was not a happy or kind person and I would not let her close to my dog under any circumstances. The way you treat those you do not need to treat nicely speaks volumes on the character of a person. Your dog does not have a voice and can't tell you how this lady treated him or her. Someone needs to get this lady some Christmas Cheer! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I took my dog in to get groomed, and asked for a trim. When I picked her up, I was horrified to find that they completely shaved her! The entire cut is totally uneven, with patches of hair on her legs and torso, and there is a clear line on her neck where they stopped using a razor and switched to scissors for her head. Her ears are both different lengths and her tail is shaved as well, minus the tip, which makes it look like a Q-tip. I will NEVER bring my poor baby back here again! read more

We had a 10:30 appointment, by 2 pm I still had heard anything. The phone rang for 20 minutes before someone finally picked up when I called to check on Daisy. When someone answered they told me she had been picked up already. Naturally, I freaked out and was told to stop yelling they would look into it. After 5 minutes on hold, they told me it was a different Daisy that had been picked up. They should have known this before they gave me false information. Now that they located her they told me she would be ready by 3 pm. Really, why make an appointment if you're going to leave her sitting there all day...waiting. I use to go here for years...I started going here when they were located in the little shop on Highway 14 and Smith. Things were great then. I have since quit going there and taken my business elsewhere. It started getting so busy, that you were lucky to get a "hello" when you came in, and the prices continued to rise every time I turned around. My pets haircuts were getting rushed, and there were always areas that were not groomed properly. After having to ask to have my pet trimmed up "again..properly", I finally just gave up and decided to go elsewhere. Sooooo glad I made the change. Now I don't stress, wondering if I will need to ask to have the job done right anymore. They have become to big to care anymore. read more

I've been sending my basset hound, Eeyore, to Biscuits and Bows since he was a puppy for the doggie daycare. I love that they "interviewed" him with one of the owners' senior dogs, to guage his temperment. He absolutely loves it there. He goes on Tuesdays & Thursdays.... and definitely knows what day of the week it is & is bummed & mopes around the house if you don't take him there on those days. Sometimes, during the summer, you can sign your dog up for a "field trip" to the (fenced-in 68 acre!) dog park in Wauconda. We've done that 2-3 times, and we wish we could just call off work so we can watch him play, roll around in mud and have a good ol time. The grooming can get on the pricey side ($40+), so we don't go there for that often, unless we do the field trips. For continuous trips for daycare, it's definitely not cheap. But they do offer daycare packages if you intend to do this several times. Great place, convenient location for us, and Eeyore loves going there - which is a better review than I could ever write on Yelp! read more

I'm super confused at all the five star reviews for this place cause in my 10 minutes there I was horrified. I'm a new, first time dog owner of a rescue that we've only had for less than 2 months. I took him in for a few quick services that I was told I didn't need to make an appointment for and I will never be taking my dog back there. It was a chaotic mess when I walked in, dogs climbing all over the front desk, another dog trying to jump the fence from the daycare side, just crazy. My dog has some sensitivities that I warned them about as he was taken back. I didn't appreciate that he was taken into a back room where I couldn't see him and when he was yipping and crying, one of the employees commented about it and I proceeded to hear "that's that lab mix" in a REALLY crappy tone. My guy was scared and having a hard time it didn't seem like anyone cared. When he was done, they told me to make sure there was a specific employee there the next time I bring him in that "could handle him" but there will be no need. I will never be going back there. We've been going to biscuits and bows for grooming since my dog was a puppy & never had any big issues (there was a time when they only cut half my pups nails and only one side of her eyelashes) until this past time she came back with areas where she was shaved completely and bleeding. This was after I asked them not to shave her either. I called to ask them about it & they tried to blame it on my dog wearing a harness when we don't own a harness. HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE .... I brought my dog here today to get bathed and groomed as a special treat for him for his 8th birthday and my experience was absolutely horrifying. When I walked in there were 8-10 dogs jumping all around the front reception counter and it was a bit chaotic. The lady that took my information asked me if my dog Malakaih would be getting his usual bathing and grooming. I explained to her that he had never been here before. I came equipped with his vaccine records, but they never bothered to even ask for them, which is a bit alarming at a place that has so many dogs running around everywhere. I asked how long it was expected to take and she said it just depended on how well he did. Well, imagine my surprise when they called me an hour after I dropped him off to tell me he was done. I went right away to pick him up and paid the $50 that I owed + 20 % cash tip for the groomer. When I got home I could not help but thinking that one hour was awfully quick to bathe, dry, and groom a German Shepherd because it usually takes several hours. So I smelled his fur and he still smelled like the great outdoors. He did not smell like he had a bath. And he is very nervous of being dried, so the chance that they used a dryer on him was very slim. And when I bathe him he takes several hours to air dry. And then it dawned on me, I paid this place $50 to bathe and groom my dog and he never even got a bath! So I brought him back into the place so they could smell him and I spoke with the owner on the phone and she told me that he did get a bath. I asked her what type of conditioner they use and I was told that they do not use a conditioner, just a spray! I wish that they would have told me this when I brought in my dog. She told me that that they do not have a fancy menu with "blueberry type scents" or anything like that. She offered to let me bring my dog back for another bath, but the fact is, he never got one in the first place! I am so upset that I wasted $50 to have my dog bathed and groomed and the owner was totally dishonest about this. My dog looks nice, but he came back and he still smelled. So not only did my dog not get a bath that I paid for, they were dishonest with me, I wasted my money, and my dog stinks for his 8th birthday. I would never recommend taking your dog to be groomed at Biscuits and Bows. I am more upset about being lied to by the owner than I even am about the $50 that I lost for a service that was never rendered. Such bad business practice. And to top it off, the owner had a total nonchalant attitude about the experience that my dog was (and wasn't) given. I saw that some of the most recent reviews for Biscuits and Bows were not that positive, but being an independent thinker, I decided I would chance it, and form my own opinion. Now I wish I had not done that. If you are looking to have your beloved pet groomed, I would highly recommend going elsewhere to have it done. I can't thank them enough for saving my sanity. Very early in the morning, my 80 pound Samoyed got a full-force direct hit, chest full of skunk spray. The yellow oily spot was the size of a small dinner plate. I can't even describe how badly he stunk. I was panicked and nauseated. Biscuits and Bows to the rescue! I scheduled an in / out groom for April 22nd at 10 am. I called the same day at 8:22 am. I was told it maybe a bit longer. I said no worries. Pick up around noon , then? I was told possibility and they would let me know after drop off. . So, I go to drop off our fur baby and am greeted by an argumentative employee. Stating our appointment was for yesterday and they don't even have the right phone number for me. Really professional-- not!!!!! Obviously, I called and it is documented on my call log. There are so many other groomers in the area. No one and I mean no one needs to be met by a employee w this attitude. They aren't doing me any favors when I can go elsewhere w out the attitude. What happened to being polite to the paying customers that pay your salary to stay in business?????? I would not recommend this company to anyone! I RATE them ZERO STARS. I've been taking my dog to this establishment for two years now, but she will not be returning after her latest visit. When we picked her up, we found her haircut to have been way too short and the complete opposite of what I had described to the cutter when we dropped her off. Our dog had thick fur before the haircut, and it was quite obvious by the stink our dog had when we took her home after the haircut that they had not bothered to bathe her before cutting her hair (probably because it would take too long with the amount of fur she had). There were multiple nicks from the razor they used and her rear was bright red from their carelessness. read more

I brought my two bichon poodle mix dogs here when I moved into the area 3 years ago upon a recommendation from a Facebook friend. At first, I was pleased with the fact they get to roam and play with other dogs, especially since my rescue dogs weren't very social. A few haircuts later, I noticed prices going up and haircuts coming back uneven. The staff isn't very friendly and they rush the dogs in without asking about how I want them cut. The last two times, they switched their collars, so I'm guessing they called them by the wrong names the entire time. Time to look for somewhere else for us. read more

First, I have been taking my mini long-haired dachshund and our westie here since they were both puppies. They are 16-years-old and 15-years-old, respectively. Best groomers ever - bar none. Fudgie & Campbell swear by them. Second, as far as their dog daycare is concerned, I have brought my Gordon Setter, Angus, since he was an 8-week-old pup. He loves going and he respects & adores everyone that works there. They helped reinforce his good behavior all the while he was growing up and assisted in teaching him good canine manners. My dog is thoroughly socialized and is never a problem around other dogs because of this. When I pick him up he generally sleeps hard because he is exhausted from playing all day. The people at Biscuits & Bows are just plain good people with big hearts that will do right by your canine family members! read more

We brought our first dog here once for grooming and never brought him anywhere else after. He was not the most friendly with people he didn't know and other dogs but they took such good care of him. They always told us he was an angel even though we knew he was hard to deal with! When that dog passed away and we got a new puppy we brought him here for grooming as well. They were genuinely sad for the passing of our dog and happy for us to welcome a new puppy as well. We have continued to love the service and even drive in from Chicago for him to get his grooming still whenever we can as we have moved. When we were looking for a dog groomer for our new puppy, everyone we talked to raved about Biscuits & Bows. We were very excited to take our puppy there. Unfortunately, that was the last time I was pleased with their service. I was disapointed when we dropped her off because it was chaotic and rushed and I didn't think they heard what I was saying about how I wanted her groomed. Then, when we returned at pick up time, our puppy wasn't ready....though she'd been there for 3.5 hours. That seemed like a long time for our puppy to be waiting around. Second, I didn't recognize her when they brought her out because they had shaved her so short...which I'd specifically asked them for not to. They had not cleaned up her ears at all, which I'd also asked for. Finally (and I know this is nit-picky), their "report cards" are ridiculous. I don't need to hear that my 4 month old puppy doesn't like the blower; I'd rather hear what they're going to do to make her experience better. It wasn't the worst experience ever, but I promised my kids we'd never go back and that we'd find a groomer who listened better and a place that wasn't so chaotic and impersonal. read more

First of all, I went to Biscuits and Bows based on a trusted neighbor's recommendation. I told them that when I called for the appointment. Keep that in mind. When I arrived they didn't want any sort of records indicating my dog had his shots and was up to date on all of them. I should have left at that moment. But, I decided to have him stay and get groomed and then play for the day since I had to go to work. He was there from 9am-5pm and it only cost me $50. That was a great deal (and the one positive about the visit.) His haircut was fine, but I explicitly asked that his eyelashes NOT get cut. I never had them cut and that is a unique aspect of my dog. I did not notice his ONE eyelash was cut (not two, but one - it was bad enough they cut the one, but you would think they would try to even them out or something....) until I was halfway home. It was a 30 minute drive for me. The next day I called them and was told Donna, his groomer, would take him back to cut the other eyelash. I reminded them that I DID NOT want the eyelashes cut. The man on the phone then told me Donna was busy with another customer. I left my cell number and NEVER received a call back. I emailed Biscuits and Bows on two separate occasions. But, NO ONE HAS EVER RESPONDED TO ME. Needless to say I will not take my dog back there, but it is simply bad business to not even respond to a person who has spent their hard earned dollars for a service they are supposed to provide within my parameters. I am sad because the price was right and I think my dog had fun during the day care hours he spent there. :( Plus, my neighbor feels bad for recommending I take my dog there since they did not follow my instructions. read more

My review is based on grooming only as I do not board my dogs. I have four dogs, one of which is a 17 year old west highland terrier. He is blind and deaf and can no longer stand for a long. Of time, therefore my original groomer will no longer groom him! My vet, Deer Grove, recommended I call biscuits and bows because they have a groomer, specifically Jan, that specializes in older dogs. I have to say, my old guy frisky looks absolutely beautiful! I am so thankful to have found Jan. Her patients and love of animals definitely shines through and is much appreciated. I hope frisky gave her a lot of kisses while he was there today! read more
