First time I took my dog I was happy. Second time he was cut in few places and I was not informed, anything can happened but I wish they would have told me. I decided to try it again. I had an appointment at 09:00 and was told he be ready 12/1. I called at 2pm and was informed my dog would not be ready till 5pm, they informed me he was not obedient and neglected, FYI he is a working dog so very obedient. I decided to go get him at 2:30, he was strapped by the wall, wet (so he was just washed), nothing else was done from 09:00. I asked how much I owe, payed (which I should not). Just imagine what kind of stress the dog goes thru sitting there from 9-5?? My dog will not be returning!!! read more

Most of the reviews on here for Dog in Suds in Palatine are very old. I have been taking my Bearded Collie there for 7 years and will never take him again. They used to be really good but they aren't any more. I've given them a couple of chances to get back on track but the last time I took my dog there was an incident. When I picked Wrigley up and got him home he was acting strange, almost like he was afraid. When I would reach for him he would recoil. He was also licking one of his paws. I know my dog and I knew something was wrong. I can't prove what happened so I'm not going to go into detail but Wrigley should have been on an antibiotic and on pain meds but because they didn't tell me I didn't know. We're a few weeks out and he seems to be getting back to his old self but sometimes if I walk too close to him he cries out and starts shaking. I'm so mad at them! Were they kind to him after they hurt him? And on top of it, he got a terrible haircut. read more

This place is fantastic. I've taken my pup to a couple places to get his grooms. Dog in Suds is always efficient and clean. He comes home with perfectly filed nails, clean fur between the toes, and nice even shave. His big head looks even bigger to his perfectly trimmed body. They do such a good job that it takes him longer to get to the furry mess he usually is. I posted a picture, before and after of Hammy. Thats him before his cut and after. Quite different yet just as handsome looking pup. Love these guys, worth the drive to get there. They give good advice about certain things such as ear hair and their butt glands. I've tried this groomer several times and after 3 visits thought one more and then make decision I have a sm pup. apparently because my pup at 5 months is now an adult they more than doubled grooming fee without notice and did not bathe dog. additionally hair cut left much to be desired. will be finding a different Groomer. read more

I've never had a dog that needed grooming before, so I got a recommendation from a guy at the breed rescue where i got my dog. They were super friendly on the phone, walking me through the costs and what that included. They did a great job with my Airedale who came in with a fluffy winter coat and left with a "show dog" cut. The groomer even came out and talked to me afterwards and explained other things she could do next time around if I preferred. I thought the price was also reasonable. The only negative here is that my dog didn't smell like anything afterwards - usually they come home from a bath smelling good for a few days. She didn't smell bad necessarily, but I was missing that "clean dog" smell. In any case, I'm sure we'll be back here sometime in the near future! read more

They are so good with him and he loves going to get groomed. I just brought my first foster dog to them this past week, she is older and was in rough shape, she was also very scared. They were so kind and made her look beautiful, she honestly looked like a different dog when I went to pick her up! She looked 5 years younger! When I picked him up, he looked great! The groomer, who I believe was Cara, was very nice and professional! I do agree with the other reviewer that they must use a low fragrance shampoo. I love these people! I've been taking Bruce to Dog In Suds for many years. They clearly love dogs. The care they have shown to my (now) ancient Lab goes far beyond what I would expect. And as I see the dogs coming in before and after us, it's clear they feel the same for every dog that comes into their care. Prices are reasonable. The place is an open book-- you can see everything that's happening behind the counter. The staff is friendly. They remember us from visit to visit, even when it's been a while. We were looking for a new groomer after 10 years with the same one and brought our dog in here on a recommendation. I said, " strip him down, all over with a schnauzer face." I picked him up 3 hours later looking like an eye brow less, Unshaped faced, fluff ball!!! The only thing they did was scissor trim him here and there and wash a poof him up. My dog is 13 years old and can't really get around a lot and they treat her with such kindness and are so gentle that I have no worries leaving her there for a couple of hours to get groomed. im surprised there arent any reviews here, but its ok i got this... ive been coming here with my dog dolce for 7 years now... they were so nice when i rescued Dolce, they even told us that he had an ear infection from his previous owner. we take my lhasa once a month for cut, shampoo, ears , nails and even the butt squeeze thing that they do.. and my dog loves coming and prices are very reasonable! friendly staff! I brought my dog for the first time to Dog In Suds last week in Palatine. I was very disappointed from the time I walked in just at the lack of professionalism and friendliness. That should have been my first warning. Upon bringing my dog home I realized a few days later that they had expanded his collar and while walking my dog he slipped out of his collar and started to walk away. My dogs collar has never been adjusted as it fits perfect as my vet is the one that adjusted at the first time. I called dog in suds and spoke with the owner and asked if it's normal practice to readjust the dogs collars and let her know that my dog had gotten out of his collar while being walked she got very rude told me that they never adjust collars... And I know for a fact that the adjustment happened there. And then she hung up on me. I would definitely not recommend this place just for their lack of professionalism and if you do go there check your dogs collar. read more

Shame on you Kay from Dog In Suds in Palatine. You turned my pedigree white Scottie dog into a mutt. You took it upon yourself to completely shave his entire body down to his skin. Our dog breed requires a specific cut to maintain his Scottie appearance in keeping of generations of Scotties before him. If you were unable to give him a professional haircut, you should have given us a choice so we could take him to someone who could. Over the years my husband who is the one that drops Bailey off for his grooming always complains about Kay's snarky attitude. And shame on the owner of Dog In Suds. When I complained about the cut and how my dog is now unrecognizable, she responded with "did you want your dog to be a bloody mess"? And then she hung up on me. How unprofessional! At $48.00 plus tip I would expect better treatment. But I guess they figure he's thirteen years old and he won't be bringing in revenue too much longer. Shame on you Dog In Suds! read more

I called to make an appointment and they got us in the next day. I have a 5-year-old 65-pound collie who barks a lot and is the nervous type. They did a beautiful job on him.
