My 10yr old niece, bought a parolett here. She and my 10yr old daughter are very close, so she wanted to have similar pet with her cousin so that they can have "sister family birds" together. Her blue parolett was $550, so my daughter used all her piggy bank money and borrowed from her older sister to get her first pet, Yellow parolett, $450. With cages, bird foods, toys, now, if you do not have that in hand, this merchant does not let you buy their bird. So in the end, it was about $800. We had the bird one business day, and the bird did not look okay. I called the store to ask what to do, they told me to bring the bird over, they would examine the bird, and take care of her as they have a mobile vet who comes by. As soon as my daughter got out of school, we drove to this store. Driving for one hour to get there could not be longer, we were just hurrying to get there to get the help this bird needed. We take our pets to Niles animal hospital, but we could not get immediate appointment. We took the bird to the store, an employee took her in the back room, we waited for a while, she came out and told us that our bird was gone. My 10yr old was crying, I was in tears, we were just in shock. The employee told my daughter, " That is life sweetheart, sometimes things happen. Don't cry." On the store, in that spot, we were just in disbelief because our bird was sick but not dead and she was stretching her wings and making sounds when she was with us. We requested the body of the bird back so that my daughter could bury her first pet. They refused. They told us that they had to keep her until their manager, Alexis, could take a look at her on that weekend as she was out of town. This was on Tuesday. The whole week past, I called to see what was happening, our sales person, Maria, answered and hung up quickly after saying "The vet has handful of birds, so it is taking time but we will get back to you." Another week past, so I called again on Sunday to see what was happening to my daughter's bird, and they told me that Alexis would call us that evening. She did, she called us and said that "You did not feed the bird, as the bird had no food in her digestive track, so you starved the bird at least 48hours." My daughter was listening, and told, "I have a video of my Sundrop, the yellow parolett, eating for a minute and a half." "I did everything by your guidelines, I did whatever Maria instructed us to do." Alexis said "I don't know , all I know is that you starved the bird, and it died." Why would we purchase all the freshyly chopped wet food, dry food, we went beyond buying pollens, wild flowers, beneficial mineral blocks, kebob for fresh fruits and vegetable from the Parrot star, to what? to starve the bird????? And I sent Alexis the video of the bird from the store eating at our house. I requested for the autopsy report four times via email. When we were on the phone, Alexis told us that she was going to send the autopsy report if we wanted. I said "Yes we want the autopsy report." She said" I will send it by tmrw afternoon." We never had the autopsy report from them. I asked four times for it. When they just stopped communicating to us, I emailed and asked for the body of the bird back. I said, "My daughter is still very sad about her first pet gone. To give her closure, I will go in the store, you pick a date, time, I will go in, won't talk to anybody, ask anybody what happened, I just want the body of our bird back so that I can give my 10yr old a chance to say good bye." They never replied. My niece's parolett, too had the gastric yeast infection after she got her from this merchant. Her mom called the merchant and told them that they gotta let the other customers who bought birds same time know because that is something that birds around the cage all get. As Alexis claims, empty GI track proves that our bird had been suffering from gastric yeast infection before we brought her to our home, even though we had clear evidence in our video that the bird was eating in healthy manner. In my opinion, the medicine for the avian gastric yeast infection itself is over $54 and to examine and check again after 30days can cost hundreds dollars which is quite a bit. I think the merchant, parrot star, wanted to be cost efficient, so told nobody that the flock and other flocks have disease. They quickly got rid of the body, if our bird was gone, I would not know, because they refused to show me the bird, refused to give me the autopsy report that links to the number for our bird's band, and refused to give us entire or partial money back. Just ,,none. They kept our money, they kept our bird, they just did whatever they wanted out of this situation. There are not many exotic birds stores. Monopoly. It is really sad how they handled this situation. She should've just said that " I am sorry. I wrongfully accused your daughter as starving her loving pet."

I was there an hour and a half. Barely acknowledged to even ask questions. I have had birds for 40 years, have a beautiful cage, the six perches required by the store, a play gym, and brand new toys waiting for the new baby. One little bird flew to me so she was on my finger a minute and THEN the staff cared enough to come take her. I asked about her price and they said "she was surrendered and is in the adoption program so only the manager can tell you". A price is top secret? Well, after leaving a message and sending an email, no response. (I live an hour and a half away so not driving back just for a price if no one can respond.) I watched families there adopting (the staff did tell me the adoption process is about 2 hours.) and sadly it is like a high pressure time share experience. The store has "requirements" to take the bird home that I find excessive. I would have to have photos of my cage with measurements, at least 6 perches, I do not know how many toys but my baby has many. I rotate them so she doesn't get bored. Three more sets on the way today as a matter of fact. And she spends hours out with me almost every night. I found a lovely breeder who is very caring and has well raised babies in SEWI so I won't be going back.

My new bird from Parrot Stars!

This place I went to was amazing. Birds are not clipped & fly free within the facility, but not in the shopping area. If you come here to buy a bird, TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR CAGE SET UP BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME! You are required to have a certain sized cage for your bird or purchase. Also, have TIME in the day before you get here too! They required us to do an hour training before taking the bird home. We got there at 12:30, and left at 3:30. This is where you can ask any sort of questions without feeling judged. They'll talk about training, do's and don'ts, toxic chemicals within the home to avoid, etc. Very vigilant on the birth certificates, and testings. The staff love their birds. Required us to take a certain bag of food home to help continue to ween our bird. Gorgeous place with so many toys. There's no bad smell in there, but it is VERY loud from the macaws. I love it here, they were very thorough, unlike petsmart or petco, who just give you an animal & send you on your way home, with no background data on the bird, or any questions answered. Ashley helped us out the most, and she was amazing. The manager as well was very vigilant & very nice. I'll be recommending this place to all my bird lovers!!

    Future bird owner?

I have been thinking about getting a smaller parrot but worried about my wife's allergies so we took a ride. Great place to go with your kids. They have lots and lots of birds. Some are in their cages but many are out looking for affection. The staff is great. Friendly and very educated when it comes to birds. They do not push you away. They take the time to educate and answer your questions. I will definitely go again.

Got my first parrot recently, the people who helped me out were super nice and I ended up learning a thing or two about birds that I didn't expect. Do expect to be there a couple hours if your looking to get a pet, they like to make sure you know what you're doing first. A good business practice to have I'd say

Green cheek conure and bird toy

I cannot recommend this business enough! We got our green cheek conure last week and when we called ahead with questions they were super helpful. They accommodated us driving in from out of state to work with them and genuinely care for the bird's health and well-being as their number one priority. Part of the agreement that you sign getting the bird includes guarantees that you can return the bird if it means the bird getting the best quality care AND a lifeline of question asking. We now have called multiple times to ask general training questions. In our take-home consultation, even with both my partner and I being previous bird owners and looking up a ton on information beforehand, we learned a lot while we were there. I will also note that the variety of birds and the amount of high-quality bird gear that they have in stock is super impressive!

Absolutely stunning Eclectuses!! I've never seen these in person before. Gorgeous

I am SO excited about this place!!! I have been driving over an hour to go down to Batavia to a store down there, but now this place is so much closer for me!! They have fancy birds. Not your bird-fair type birds, these are REAL parrots. Expect to pay full (If not more) retail price. Some of the fancier birds are more than $20,000.... But they have a very nice, ever-changing, selection of beautiful and well cared-for parrots. In addition, they have a great supply of perches and toys!! They also have some frozen items- like sprouts. One girl mentioned they might carry frozen chop in future, which i would totally buy!! Making chop is a labor of love, for sure. LOL. The employees i've run into have been super nice and helpful. Definitely worth stopping in!! Excited for future visits, for sure.

I highly recommend this store, especially if you are a new bird owner like I am! This store has the most helpful, caring team you'll ever meet. Not only do they care immensely for the birds, but for yourself as a potential buyer and your well-being. If you try to buy a toy they may find unfitting for your bird, for example, they will advise against it rather than seek out your money. They educate you on your bird and safety for a couple hours before letting you take them home. Today, I adopted the most sweet baby (1 year old) cockatiel. They teach all their birds to "step-up" and all birds I interacted with are very comfortable around humans and hands. I am very impressed with the way they care so intimately for such large quantities of birds. I plan to return to this location if I do look for another bird in the future. Lastly, the store is very organized and well-kept. Drove a few hours there and a few hours back for our visit and I can say with certainty I am especially satisfied!

The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. They have years of experience with our feathered friends. They'll give you advice and time to make your decisions. The store itself is set up for enjoying all types of birds . We've been visiting our baby African Grey and will take him home when he's weaned. If you fancy birds stop in. Our African Grey, Marky has now been home with us for 1 week. All our visits to bond seemed to pay off in the transition. He fully interacts with us, never missed a beat eating dry, fresh and mash. He very quickly enjoyed exploring his new cage and toys. The store staff was instrumental in helping us prepare for his move home, both in encouraging our visits and helping us make decisions. Yesterday he flew to me with intention and landed safely on my arm. What a joyous feeling when your bird figures out a new skill!

I stopped in last week and they are great. Maria was beyond helpful and was very knowledgeable about parrots and helped us choose the right food and the perfect toys for my green cheek conure they have the best stuff for your feathered friends and top quality food for them as well! Highly recommend coming here and they have a cool selection of birds you can see in person. Don't go to pet stores for information about birds, parrots, or any kind of animal because they don't know anything they'll bite anyone. COME HERE! They're very nice and will help teach you the knowledge you need to know for these amazing pets.

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BOARDING YOUR BIRD! Firstly, the store used to be amazing. The past manager was extremely nice and loving to us and all the birds. However, the new manager is the opposite. I have always gotten bad vibes from her and her smile is extremely fake. However, the store itself had a pretty good reputation so we got our cockatiel (Mochi) from there. We already had a budgie (Disco) at home. When we were picking up the bird, they basically forced us to buy more than $50 of food and treats. Since most of the food seems high quality, we bought most of it. (This is important information for later.) Fast forward more than 2 years later, we had to go on a vacation and had to fly and couldn't bring Mochi and Disco. So, we decided to board them at Parrot Stars, since we didn't know anyone else that could care for them for the week. Firstly, when we dropped them off, they wouldn't let us go in and see what cage Mochi and Disco were going to be in, let alone set up a comfortable and familiar space for them. They said it was for safety reasons, and it was their rule, even though when we discussed the conditions earlier they said we could set up the cage (lies). During our vacation, we called several times asking how Mochi and Disco were doing, and they always said they were doing very well. When we went to pick them up, we first noticed Disco had dried blood on her head. The staff then carelessly told us that Mochi had a "few" blood feathers and that was the cause. However, it was way worse than that; Mochi apparently had a night fright and lost ALL of his left flight feathers, and it's obvious from the dried blood and the wound that it happened on the first few days. Also, under BOTH wings he has plucked a lot of the small feathers, due to stress and mistreatment. Thus, they were all LYING to us when we called and they said Mochi was doing very well, in addition to LYING straight into our face and not directly telling us what happened to Mochi's flight feathers. (I was the first to say that Mochi was missing all his left flight feathers and they agreed after.) Also, Mochi lost almost 20% of his body weight and is extremely underweight. We provided Top's pellets and some other food that he usually eats for them to give, and allowed them to give their seeds because we buy/ bought our seeds from them. However, when we picked our birds up, the seeds/pellets in their bowl were NOT the (expensive and good quality) food they forced everyone to buy; it was very LOW quality food, and Mochi didn't even want to eat them even though he loves his seeds. Moreover, he has become very skittish and sleeps with one eye open, always observing his environment. After talking to other bird owners, it can be agreed upon that not only was he neglected, but also mistreated. He seems very traumatized by whatever happened during his time in boarding. Also, Mochi is basically stuck to the window looking outside, like he hasn't seen the sun in ages. Disco is fine physically because she is an independent bird, but she is way more aggressive and wild (from them manhandling her instead of using the stick we provided to get her to step up). We will NEVER be putting them in boarding at Parrot Stars again, and I suggest everyone not as well. Listen to the bad google reviews! We will also never go there ever again because all they care about is the business and have lied to us many many times.
