My husband and I walked in here with our four kids and our new puppy and said "HELP!" and the staff did help. Someone toured us around the store and helped us pick out some necessities for our dear little Charlie pup. Since then I've come back to Petsmart a few times and each time I go everyone is friendly, the store is clean and organized, and help is there if I ever need it. The only reason I didn't give it five starts is because we bought a collar for Charlie only to find that we forked out much more than we should have for it when I now see them all over the place for just a few bucks! So, they seem like they're a little over priced for some items. read more

I cancelled my appointment after I was treated so poorly by the groomer, Yady! When I entered the shop the groomers in the room were very nice. I asked, for Yady. When she walked up to the counter, I said hi! She looked me up and down and gave my appointment to a different groomer. She said, "This isn't mine, It's her's!" Then turned and walked out of the room! I made the appointment earlier in the week and asked for a groomer that was patient and has good experience because my dog is very timid. I was told Yady was the Sr. Groomer. The groomer Miss Yady handed my dog off to didn't have enough experience in my opinion. She was very nice and told me she only had 3 months of experience! Okay 3 months might be enough experience. Then, I asked her how she could groom my dog with 2 inch long nails?! She said, "I have anxiety and the long nails help keep me from tapping". My dog weighs 9 lbs, and has long, fine hair and is very afraid. I told them I asked for an experienced groomer and that's what I expect. The woman at the register said it was okay and that she would go get Yady. I said I had a bad feeling about it, and I didn't think it was SAFE to leave my pet in Yady's care. So never mind! I took my beagle in for a FURminator, this was her 2nd one, so I thought I knew what to expect. As we left PetSmart fur was blowing off her, as we left in the car with the window down, fur was blowing everywhere. Unfortunately the general manager and the dog groomer left me unsatisfied. I had an appointment at 3:00pm for my puppy to get a haircut. When I showed up early just to check him in, the groomer said, "okay so today we're doing paws, face, & sani?" I was confused because when I made the appointment I had stated I wanted a haircut. I told her how I scheduled an appointment for a haircut early that morning & how they specifically gave me that time slot for a haircut. I'm frustrated because she responded that she didn't have time for a haircut when I had made an appointment for a haircut. Not only did I drive from Turlock with the expectation I was going to have my puppy's haircut but when I talked to the general manager about the issue he simply respond, "uh yea... they don't have time." Wow was I amazed with the service here. I recently just received my English bulldog puppy and need to get a start on all the basics before she came home. The staff answered all of my questions and would even show me where to find them. I went back today to get different, more natural treats. When I got the the front desk Tonka (my puppy) was petted and pampered while I got my money ready. When the lady asked how were the treats I got just the other day? I said that she didn't like them so we are back to try something different. Her responds-" aw mahn, well did u being back the other ones?" I said no, I figured once they are open I would t be able to bring them back. She said well of course u can bring them back and anything else that doesn't work for her as well. This is very pleasing because she is a new puppy and we are trying new things like toys, hair brushes ect. This will be my location from now on! read more

We just recently got a puppy , 8 week old Goldendoodle naturally making several trips to the store acquiring everything we need for our fur baby. Over a couple weeks span we spent several hundred dollars, always using cash or debit card . I've had to either return or exchange a few things , due to it not either working for us or not fitting our fur baby . So this is where my one star score comes in. My first return I was asked if I had the debit card with me , I said yes do you need me to insert it? She said no . So then she had to ask for manager to do something at the register , the manager Debbie leaned into the cashier and whispered does she have the card? I felt that was so unprofessional and rude . I asked the cashier why did she ask that and she just laughed it off like no biggie . Ok so I left after purchasing several other items , again trying to get prepared for our fur baby . A couple days later my daughters had to go buy things for their fur babies so I asked them to return something for me and exchange another . Again I purchased with debit card and my girls had my receipts , they were told no because they didn't have the card with them . The next day I had to go buy another smaller crate for traveling purposes , I did the exchange that they refused my daughters to do. The same manager Debbie asked if I had the debit card with me , I said yes but why do you ask , she said ," well it's Petsmarts way of keeping our customers honest" I asked her to repeat that and she did , ok so I did hear her correctly . This isn't Petsmarts return policy , I called corporate and they confirmed that this isn't their policy . For Debbie to imply that only cash toting customers are honest customers is insulting to me . I've spent over $600 there in less than 2 weeks and will never spend another dime there . Worst customer service I've ever experienced and for that manager to be so rude and insulting to customers In front of other customers is even more upsetting . Also I called corporate and informed them that this Debbie is making Petsmart look bad by making her own rules and that I wanted a call from their DM, I haven't received a call as of yet . Bought an item for my dog at Manteca store and it made my dog sick. So I tried to exchange at closest store to my house in Modesto and just wanted to exchange for store credit and they would not. Said I had to go back to Manteca to exchange. Called and wrote into Petsmart 3 times and they said they would call back and investigate why I was not helped at Petsmart Sisk Rd. They never got back in touch with me.Poor service from this store and the headquarters. If they are not going to give good customer service-might as well buy products from another store online as it is cheaper.I am through with Petsmart.This is unfortunate as the McHenry and Manteca stores were decent. Sisk Road store is just badly managed and Petsmart headquarters does not respond. Maybe the change in CEO will help clean up at least the Sisk Road store. As far as pet stores go, I am giving this PetSmart 4 stars. Would have a 5 put the last groomer was not good and failed to do the job correctly or thoroughly. The cut was bad, the nails were not clipped etc. Now I have a groomer at my vet that is excellent. The store is immaculate. no odors at all and the staff is very well informed. At first I thought, What does this young kid know? but I was surprised. There must be some sort or training or testing because their people are very educated about pets. My pets are welcome here. This is my go to place for my cats, dog and box turtle. ( do wish the prices were a little lower though, but still cheaper than the other pet stores) read more

I go to the Sisk Petsmart regularly to buy supplies for my dog and multiple reptiles. Yesterday will be the last! Just about Everytime I need reptile feeder supplies it's a hassle. I have to either run after the manager/staff walking by who ignore my wave or ask an employee who standing around if they can page someone for help. Either way they usually take awhile Standing around before paging. I few times I've had to walk back to them and ask again. Keep in mind I come in off peak hours. I always donate when I pay for items and yesterday I also paid for a stuff animal for a child in need. For decades (without issue) I got supplies from the Petsmart off Hamilton ave or Petco on Saratoga de Paseo. I regret shopping at this location. Adding insult to injury. I was not told my total and the clerk failed to email my receipt. When I called to inquire about getting a duplicate receipt I was told it would take hours for the email. I needed to wait. At the time I called it was 2 hours after shopping there. It's now 26 hours and no receipt. By the way this complaint is Not against the staff whom are paged to come out. They are always friendly, retrieve the supplies needed, and answer any questions. read more

My review is about 6 months old but I stil wanted to bring it to attention for other people that bring their animals here. Please don't go here. I let my poor dog go here 4 times and the last two times were horrible. She had cuts on her ear and her nail was bleeding from being cut too short. They gave me a paper saying my dog moved and that's why her nail was cut too short. My dog never moves, ever. She always stands there for anyone. I was so devastated by what happened to her. She would shake and cry when I took her there. Now I take her to Posh Paws Pet Spa and I'll have to say, it is an amazing place! My baby isn't locked in a kennel all day and they always do an amazing job. I can feel the love they have for her when she arrives. She no longer shakes but I feel as if she looks forward to getting groomed now. Way better prices then Petsmart. It's a little but of a drive but worth it. Please don't let your dogs have the same experience that mine did at Petsmart. No dog should ever have to go that. read more

The groomers here are awesome!!! It's the only place I take my Yorkie. The staff is very friendly and always greet me when I enter. I tired another groomer and found out he hits the dogs he grooms. Once again PetsMart has discontinued the bagged dog bones that my dog enjoys. Every few months I am forced to find other good quality and more expensive bones because they continuously stop carrying the ones I previously bought. I do not know why their merchandise changes so often in that department but it's the same reason I stopped shopping at Petco years ago. I am so frustrated by this place! We gave their grooming department a SECOND chance. They only thing they actually did somewhat-right was bathe my dog. The trim is terrible! But at least they didn't cut her THIS TIME. However, after double checking they had the correct contact information, they did NOT bother to call to say she was ready!! They sent an EMAIL 3 HOURS before we decided to call them to check on her. They told us they don't know what happened (because they wrote the correct phone number on the paper to call us when our dog was done). So my dog sat in a kennel for 3 UNNEEDED HOURS because no one decided to call us and let us know she was done. We will NOT be back!!!! read more

I purchased a sweater for my dog at the Tracy location, passing through on the way home from the bay area. It unfortunately was too small so the next day I came by the closest location to my home, Modesto, to exchange it for a larger size. I was assisted by a young blonde gal at the front register. She was very adamant that I would not be able to return the sweater. She claimed that in order to return the product I had to be the person who's name was on the receipt and have the original card. (Understandably, it was my fiancés debit card). I explained I was not trying to get a refund of any kind, I just was hoping for a larger size. She claimed that she "never knows when someone is going to pick up a receipt in the parking lot or out of the trash and try to go in and get money for the items on the receipt". Was she claiming I looked like a person that would do that? Probably not, but it sure felt that way. It might have come out wrong compared to how she intended it to, but it did not feel professional whatsoever. She ended up letting me exchange the sweater, but I feel it was just the principle of what was said. I don't think that should have been said to a customer unless you were accusing them of stealing. read more

Petsmart is simply a "big box" style pet store with no concern for our community directly. I was in one today to inquire about a community information board to hang a sign and they told me they didn't have one and that it was against "company policy" to hang any signs. However when I went to two of their local competitors, Pets Choice (located on Tully Road) and Petco (located on Evergreen) they both had a community board and gladly allowed me to post my signs. They even wanted to talk to me and ask questions about my posting. This was my first time in Petsmart as this is a new store near my home and will be my last. I prefer to VOTE WITH MY DOLLAR and will not do business with any Petsmart while I will recommend and continue to do business with Pets Choice and Petco. Please, help support the businesses that actually do care about our communities and especially those that are locally owned and operated. Too many of us are supporting those big stores that send all of our money "somewhere else"! What do we do when one day we wake up and that nice local business we knew we could depend on for information, support, special orders, great customer service, and community compassion is gone? Yes, they may charge a buck more for the same product, but that isn't too much to pay for all the additional benefits they provide. So say "NO" to Petsmart and yes to local, community friendly Pets Choice and Petco! read more

I have been very pleased with this Petsmart location! My puppy is now on her 3rd training class at this location. She's taken Puppy, Intermediate and now Click-a-Trick (this one is so much fun!). All of her classes have been with trainer Dianna who is also great. She really cares about the needs/desires of her students. We expressed a desire to take the Click-a-Trick class and she made it happen. They also changed a class date when we and another customer said we'd take the class if the date was changed. We were impressed. Our puppy also just had her first grooming session (first anywhere besides trims at home) here with Brittany. We explained that she was extremely fearful of getting her nails trimmed after a local doggy day care trimmed them during a day session (without our permission) and we didn't want grooming to be the same. Dianna her trainer also went in with her to put her at ease. We watched out of sight of our puppy and she did amazing. We could tell Brittany was going very slow and gentle, stopping and giving her love whenever she got hesitant about the grooming session. We will definitely be returning for more grooming sessions and soon will also try a nail trim there. read more

Every time I come here the workers are so polite. The most ANNOYING people on the planet! Fish lives matter! I mean I get you're trying to do what's best for the animals but holy f*ck people. The woman wouldn't give me 2 FEEDER fish, fish that are going to be sold to DIE, because I had a regular fish bowl without a pump.....so I got a tank with a fricken pump. My dumb a** thought it was a 10 gallon I asked how many fish they said oh only 2 fish for a 10 gallon. I'm like really? 2 little tiny fish? I didn't get large fish I got those mini 30 cent fish. Ok fine put 2 fish in my "10 gallon" tank...its a 5 gallon. Fish doing just fine in the 5 gallon. So 3 complaints here. Why the hell are you going to sell fish bowls with no pumps if you aren't going to sell the f***ing fish to go with them and why are you telling me a 10 gallon tank can only take 2 fish when my 5 gallon supported them JUST fine?? And why the HELL does it matter than I wanted to put feeder fish in a bowl when you were going to sell them to die anyways!? Weird fish obsessed people. read more

I have mixed thoughts on PetSmart. I think they have a wonderful clean store, employees are very friendly, and they have a large sized selection of dog toys. I also love and appreciate their pet adoption days. However, I find it absolutely appalling that on several occasions, I have purchased dry dog food (2 different brands and 3 different flavors), only to find that after a couple of days of having the food at home, there are bugs in the dog food- and we keep the food in a dry, airtight, water and bug proof container. I thought it was only a problem with the Wellness brand because it's so fresh and expires quickly. But when we tried the Purina Pro, we encountered the same problem. After the second time of finding bugs in the Purina Pro, we called the store. I received rude customer service. They told me there was nothing they could or would do and I had to contact Purina. I contacted Purina and was told it was a store issue, that all products are thoroughly inspected before hitting the stores. I called back to PetSmart and again received rude service. Purina did mail me an apology and coupons for our trouble- thank you, Purina. However, I will not return to PetSmart for any dog products in the future. read more
