PetSmart - Pet Groomers Near Me - Maple Grove, Minnesota

We recently took our dogs to the pet hotel for the first time for an out of town trip which we were hesitant to do in the first place but we couldn't find any family/friends available when we needed them. We chose to go with Petsmart as they were running a book 3 nights, get 1 free special at that ended on the first date of our reservation. When I called to confirm the reservation I asked if that deal would be honored since it ended on the first day of our reservation and the call center said that they weren't sure, but even if it wasn't first time customers get a free nights stay so it would've been the same price with either of the discounts. The call center also specifically made a note in the comments on the reservation about the specials. On checkout day we go to pay and the total is more than we were expecting and the store employee has no idea about either of the specials telling me that I need to check my emails for a coupon, but I had never been sent a coupon. The employee said there is nothing they can do despite my noting with the call center about both discounts. After paying and leaving, I call customer service and they are more than willing to connect me to the store to discuss the matter and work on getting me a refund for the missed discounts. Customer service connects me with the store pet hotel and the employee tells me that the store manager only honors discounts if you have a physical coupon or bar code and are able to show in person what you have. They kept repeating how unfortunate it is that I know about the discounts but that they can't do anything about the total. They are even specific to mention that they only honor the specials with a physical coupon/barcode because it can add up in cost to them if they honor it without it. That comment didn't help the situation as our bill was around $100 more than we were expecting to pay which we were hesitant to pay the cost with the discounts anyways. The store employee said she wasn't able to help me but that the store manager would call me the next day. I never received a phone call and have had no solution. A very disappointing interaction for a first time customer already hesitant to board their pets. read more

I typically have very good experiences here. Today, though, I bought a muzzle for my dog and received judgement from the cashier. She looked at my dog and asked, "she needs a muzzle?" and then proceeded to explain to me that chewing and biting is a normal part of being a puppy (as if I don't know that). As a cashier who is not qualified to be giving this kind of advice, I didn't appreciate the comments and judgement. I was already having anxiety about being judged for having to buy one. Unless you are a veterinarian or a trainer, you should not be giving unsolicited advice and judgment to customers. read more

A 1 star is more than they deserve. We had told the groomer to not go short with our dog's haircut and showed her pictures of his previous haircut for reference. She proceeded to shave him to the skin, EVEN HIS TAIL!! His nose is shaved down to the point you can see how irritated his skin is and is super red. Under his ears, she decided to cut huge spots out down to the skin, where he is irritated and red again and in one spot cut the skin.... He is a golden doodle and she told us that he was not matted at all but a little area behind his butt when we dropped him off and when we picked him up, he was completely shaved to the skin. read more

STAY AWAY from the PetSmart PetsHotel, if you LOVE your cat. Not sure if all of them are the same, but this is for the 1 in Maple Grove, MN. Our cat was scheduled for a 5 day stay. The next day after drop off we get a call saying he has not gone to the restroom, has not eating much, they might have to take him to the vet, and he "lunged" at the handler. Hello, if someone's cat is in a new environment, they're not going to eat and take a dump right away. Secondly, our cat has never lunged at anyone (not his personality), which means they did NOT tell us the whole story. It's not rocket science, CATS are NOT freaking DOGS. They need ample time to get adjusted and need more space than a 3 LEVEL SQUARE BOX. His bowl was right in front of him with barely any space, not to mention the litter box they brought from the bottom and put right beside him. C'mon, who sleeps and poo's right next to a toilet (not even humans do this). He was terrified (like their was an abuser nearby) when we came to get him. He smelled like URINE WAS SPLASHED ALL OVER HIM, and appeared to have scratches on his face (perhaps from someone trying to force food in his mouth or something else). B4 the PSPH takes folks $, they needs to let people know upfront that they don't give special attention or care to your cat. Completely Neglected and Horrible Service! I bought parakeets from here a few years ago, they were very sick when we got them and had bobbing tails. One of them eventually got a tumor, she survived and got it removed but still. DO. NOT. BUY. BIRDS. FROM. ANY PET STORES. Buy them from sanctuary's, the birds are usually already tamed, they'll tell you if they're sick or went through trauma, and they're cheaper. My rescue dog - Greg hasn't had a real haircut for a year. My husband thinks he's a professional groomer which clearly he is not. Took the pup in for a cut,shower, and the works. I don't think they have her a bath or cleaned her ears. Receipt doesn't show was all done and I was charged a 8.00 service fee. When I booked it online it came to close to 80.00....my receipt came to 56.00. I bought a cute swimsuit in store and brought it back to them and asked if they could do it. They excitedly said yes! To have her dressed and ready for the day, they slapped it on the counter at pickup and I had to get her dressed there as they were telling me their recommended routine... I am so impressed with doggie daycare. My 14 year-old puppy is a grumpy old lady and she doesn't do well with other dogs or new people. I had a dog walker who moved, and was very worried about finding care while I work. My girl was incredibly welcomed. She wears a red collar so the staff know she is to be kept separate from the doggie play groups. The staff give her one on one time and when she didn't want to play one day, they read to her. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for PetSmart, they have given me peace of mind that I know my baby is well taken care of. read more

I trusted Petsmart Petshotel, Maple Grove, Minnesota, USA, to take care of my dogs. While overseas I received a voicemail that I need to call the hotel. I dropped what I was doing and called. They told me my dogs had not used the bathroom in 3 days. And that they needed to take them to the vet. They were also not eating well. Of course I said yes to have them seen. I was perplexed that both would all of a suddent not be able to use the restroom. The Vet called me back later that evening and told me that my dogs checked out fine and they just needed to be taken outside to use the restroom. They told me that some dogs have a hard time using the restroom in the designated indoor facility when they have been well trained. The vet told me this was NOT unusual to happen. So great -- my dogs were not going to die. They just needed to be let outside on grass. And I was made to worry for nothing! BUT ...... Why the heck did the hotel MAKE my dogs wait for 3 days????? If this is a known issue why not let them outdoors after 8 hours? I can't even hold it 8 hours much less 3 days! And they wonder why my dogs weren't eating that well? Maybe because they needed to use the bathroom????? Am I the only one that sees this as NOT rocket science? Any human, let alone a pet owner, could tell ya the dogs needed to be taken outdoors if they are not peeing indoors --- especially when you have prior experience of this! The hotel is aware this happens. So they shouldn't wait for a medical emergency to arise. Again -- 3 days!!!! It is horrible for animals health to force them to hold it that long. And in my opinions, and I think any SANE person's mind, that is nothing short of animal abuse and neglect. I wrote petsmart via their website and expressed my grave concerns for this idiotic policy that will not allow the hotel staff to take the dogs outdoors. If it is a liability issue then they need to better train staff on how to handle dogs. I also wrote to them concerning their grave neglect of my dog's health while in their care. I have yet to hear back. I will NEVER use Petsmart Petshotel again and I advise everyone to BEWARE. read more

Is it too much to ask for some variety? Just adopted a new pup and went to get the standard new dog owner supplies. Much to my chagrin, they were out of booties, out of raised bowls, had very few chew toys for dogs with any amount of jaw strength...dude...you're a chain pet store! You should have stock and projections for how to approximate need. The dog food bowls weren't even in the 'dog' section of the store. C'mon! Upside: The store is clean and smells significantly less like dog inside than Petco. Kudos. Can't say I'll be back for anything more than dog food. read more

**Review based on the store** I regularly shop here with my Cavalier Oslund and I have been very impressed with this location. The staff are friendly and helpful and the store is well (enough) stocked and organized. I like the sales that they have on toys and treats and the selection for boots and jackets are much better than at the Petco (which I also like) nearby. The other people shopping here tend to also be in a good mood and are very friendly (Maybe the great staff set a good tone for being friendly?). Pros: Staff are phenomenal!! I have been a grooming snob in the past and didn't consider big box chains. Ever since my groomer sold her business I've had a terrible time finding a groomer for my sweet Shih Tzu Francine. Search is over!! Francine has allergies that cause a "cherry eye" basically her tear duct gets swollen and pokes out a bit when her allergies are at their worst. When this condition flares up she cannot be put in a blower kennel to dry her. Petsmart will use hand dryers to blast her dry quick instead of putting her in a blower kennel for 40 minutes having her eye dry out. Kaitlyn did a great job and I appreciate the time she took before the service to talk about my preferences. And the service was very reasonably priced. I've already booked her next appointment and I am so relieved to have found a great groomer to take care of my little one! read more

*Hotel and Grooming Review* Why isn't there a zero stars option? Hotel checkin took thirty minutes and they were far from polite. And since when is it okay to grab someone's dog while you fill out paperwork? I had to ask them to let me pet him before I left him there. Called to check on him, too busy to check but "he's probably fine". Excuse me? Charged for a nail trim that he did not get and instead of a refund, was issued credit to my account for use there (no way!). So we went to the groomer after checking out (twice they had to come and ask me which dog was mine) and they took my dog for his nail trim. Ten minutes? Great. Ten minutes later I walk in to my dog yelping in pain! EXCUSE ME? My poor dog was board stiff, practically paralyzed! Oh look, they're magically finished. They didn't clip all of his nails and did not grind like we requested. Did I mention he came home with fleas? FLEAS. Talk about stress - I don't want a fully infested house, let alone my other two pets! They claim no responsibility but did admit that another dog had fleas at the same time my dog was there. DO. NOT. Overall, I think very highly of this location for the Pet Hotel. We use for daycare and overnight care for 2 dogs. I'd like to give a shout out to the former manager of this area, Adam, he apparently has gone elsewhere, but he was stellar: super friendly, welcoming and phenomenal at customer service. The people interacting (with a few exceptions) with your pets here are very very caring and engaged. I know our animals are safe and well cared for. I didn't give the final star just because there is one major Debbie Downer at check in. She's snippy, does not make eye contact and is very unwelcoming. She never recognizes us. We have been going for years on a regular basis. I'm not a believer in outing bad service by name, but she's a major bummer. That said, the four stars reflects the many other wonderful staffers. I would not hesitate to recommend this location. Try it out and I'm sure you will be pleased. read more

**This review is for the overnight PetsHotel** I moved to Minneapolis with nothing/no one but my dog Juicy who had NEVER been boarded. When I had to go out of town unexpectedly for work, I had to make quick decisions about where to leave my dog. Juicy is very spoiled/sheltered and she's never been crate trained. She's very shy and a super tiny dog (7 lbs full grown). The idea of leaving her in a cage with strangers surrounded by 100 lb dogs for four days literally sickened me. To make matters worse, the morning before I was leaving Juicy got diarrhea and wasn't feeling well. I decided to take her to PetsHotel because they have on site vets and I felt most comfortable leaving her there. (That and the fact no other surrounding facilities would take my last minute call). When I arrived the staff was extremely kind and patient. I called to check on Juicy everyday I was gone and they continued to give me updates and watched her pretty carefully. They made me feel at ease while I was away. Four days later, I went to pick Juicy up. My dog who has never been boarded...or caged...or crate trained...acted like she didn't want to leave! She was of course happy to see me and jumped in my arms but when the girls at PetsMart were saying goodbye she jumped down and ran over to give them goodbye kisses. Knowing my dog that meant they did a really great job. This PetsHotel is completely out of my way (I live in St. Louis Park) but the staff and cleanliness of the facilities is worth my drive and $. Juicy has since been back twice and will be going a few more times this summer. Juicy knows the difference between the vet (where upon recognition her legs become weak and I have to carry her in) and PetsHotel (where she springs into action and excitedly perks up to walk in). read more

PetSmart - not very smart. I have given this store business since 2008 and have no idea how much $ I have spent. I bought $45 worth of fish and in one week , the two fish died, and the two snails- one was just a shell and the other never moved at all so it was DOA. I went back with a CC receipt copy, photos and videos of the fish dying and dead. I was told it was not good enough as I had not brought in the carcasses. Then the so-called manager says to give her my CC number and she will do what she can to verify my sale. I waited fifteen minutes and she never showed back up so I left. I went down the road to PetCo and had absolutely fantastic service. I will NEVER go back to PetStupid.. read more

Took my dog here to get Furminated because of his excessive shedding, Everything looked good and ran smoothly afterwards. Then the next day my dog started breaking out in a rash. I thought this might be an issue from the Furmination, so I took him back. They seemed to feel bad about what was going on, and wasn't sure it was due to the furmination. So, they called in one of their doctors from Bansfield who looked at it and claimed it was heat rash. Then after an exam and medical prescription the total amount came out to about $200 out of pocket. Being a first time dog owner I wasn't convinced of their diagnosis and took him to the Animal Wellness Center to get looked at. They immediately looked at it and believed it was caused by the Furmination, They mentioned that they had seen this with similar breeds. I was disappointed that Petsmart grooming and the Banefield clinic did not own up to their mistake. That they even went to the extra length of charging me additional for everything. I hope no one else will experience this kind of treatment. read more

Used the PetsHotel a few times right after the store opened and it was "meh" at best. I didn't go back for a long time. I tried it again about 8 months ago and I LOVE it, my dog LOVES it and we've been going all the time for almost a year. The staff there treats my dog like family, and my dog starts getting excited in the car and that tail wags excitedly the second we turn the corner and start walking down the aisle to the hotel-it's adorable. I can't say enough about the staff, I've had minor issues (a rude store employee that gave me misinformation about a coupon) and I've told the hotel staff, who promptly handled it for me. Seriously, these guys are pros, my dog has a "crush" on one employee and I love knowing that my dog can spend the day with his second favorite person when I'm on a day trip and working long hours. Best staff ever, clean, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, pet "approved" - I can't recommend the hotel more highly. I must say I always thought this store was the best place to buy my pet supplies and accessories from. I rather go here than any other pet store. The Trainer was wonderful and the groomer that I always had my 2 dogs go to does a really good job keeping them well groom. Today however, I had a bad experience at the store. I have just recently bought a new puppy a week ago and was going to have her get her first puppy bath there. As soon as I mentioned that she has kennel cough, service was rejected right away. She can't even get a nail trim done. One of my dogs had to meet up with his trainer and before his appointment, we were already ask to leave the store. At this time, my puppy with the kennel cough was not even in the store. She was outside in the car resting. We were being ask to leave the store even without her, by a man who works there. I don't know his title but maybe an assistant manager? He was keeping his eyes on me and my daughter along with our two dogs the entire time as we were some sort of target or something. Like, come on! There are tons of people in the store with their dogs. They may dogs with kennel coughs or other more serious health conditions and they're not being questioned or keep an eye on. I feel discriminated ( because I'm the only Asian in the store) and disgusted after we make our way out the door. He yells out that he loves animals and hope we understand. A Fake who claims to love animals. You've just lost a customer who loves to shop there and who have refer so many people to shop there for their pet supplies need. I'm only going to give this store a one star because there was an excellent dog trainer who work there. read more

Her trimmer looked cheap and kept locking. She clipped my dogs quick so badly I had to rush her to my vet. brought my 3 month old german shepard in to get a wash and ears cleaned. told lady do not cut his nails, what does she do, cuts his nails and gets too far back on one causing himeed and leaves the fourth paw alone thank god. anyways the lady told me it would take up to 90 minutes for shampoo and ear cleaning so I said I would wait in the store. I turned my timer on my phone ON when I walked out of the lobby door. took me 8 minutes to walk around the store quick and when I retuned to sit on the bench by the window the lady was walking out from the back with our dog. I looked at him and he looked just as dry from when I left to when I came back an sat down. there is not a chance in hell this lady washed and dried our dog in 8 minutes. she even said he was such a nice puppy while giving a bath, now I know that's a lie because it took me and my girlfriend to hold him down to wash him and that was a chore. now how this lady did it all by her herself in 8 minutes blows my mind. I asked if she even bathed him and she kept fumbling over her words about how to answer when I asked how she did it so fast. now with the ear cleaning his left ear didn't even get fully cleaned. also while seeing her curl his paws back while he was crying he got startled and fell off the desk hanging by the neck with the leash, not cool. petsmart lost our business after today. very un professional, doesn't listen when I say don't touch his nails, and did a world record shampoo and dry in 8 minutes with our dog. this all happened in maple grove, Minnesota petsmart location. read more

We had been taking our dog to PetSmart's daycare, grooming and vet for almost 2 years and were loyal to PetSmart. However, I will never go back here due to the poor way they handled our dog at daycare one time. I will not recommend Pet Smart's daycare to anyone and encourage you to look into the other great, local daycare's instead that provide more personalized care and are more trained and experienced in dog behaviors and temperaments. read more

Pet smart, I think, is the best pet store ever. They sell like any pet supply you need whether it's fish, birds, lizards, small animals, cats and dogs, they sell all those pets too!!! Dogs come in every other Saturday, they also groom dogs. This is a great place to go if you're in need of something. read more

I am so impressed by this location. The doggie daycare far exceeds my expectations. I've brought my puppy in twice, she comes home exhausted each time. They let them play a few hours in the morning, take an hour lunch break in individual kennels and then a few hours in the afternoon. The times I've used daycare, I had to pick her up around 8:30pm. Each time somebody has been with my dog petting her and giving her attention. Makes me feel better if I'm gone for a long day, that I can bring her there. The employees know her by name when we come in to pick out a new toy or for training. That's another thing, training! WOW! Cassidy is a trainer and she is amazing! She's like the PetSmart Dog Whisperer. Cassidy goes the extra mile to make sure not only is your dog trained, but you know what to do before you leave each class. The Banfield clinic is also great. The first vet we had, we weren't very fond of, but Dr. Barker is great and my puppy loves her. read more

The location in Maple Grove should be avoided I have been taking my pet there for the past 7 years and over the past two years the care and services HAVE gone down hill. When I board my pet i have bathe her after picking her up because they don't clean the pens offen and my pet has massive yellow pee stains. The groooming salon is equally a challenge. today was the worst i took my pet for a grooming appt and they only wanted to bath her oppose to a full groom. They did not even apoligize for the mistake and basically did not care I was unhappy about the confusion. In past grooming they have not brushed her out well, have shaved her after being instructed to trim her, failed to clean her ears. You must always do a full inspection of your pet before leaving. So I am offically DONE. I stopped boarding her months ago and now I will no longer go back for any servicing including grooming. For those of you who live in the Maple Grove/Osseo area we now have options ADOGO a new pet care center. I boarded my pet there last time and they are WONDERFUL, caring, very clean and lower cost.
