Overall I have no issues with petsmart as a store. This review is strictly off of the banfield inside of the store. We having been taking our dogs here for a while for their preventative care and have had a good experience overall. But this visit had me waiting over an hour past my appointment time. My boy loves the doggie day care they provide. He pulls on the leash and runs to them when we enter the store and could care less that I'm leaving him. I really appreciate the "schedule" & activities they provide. It's very convenient to be able to do my shopping in the same place. If needed, pets can also be taken to the grooming salon during their stay. There is also a Banfield in this location, which is comforting. I know that in the case of an emergency, a veterinary clinic is across the store. They have closed these services in response to the pandemic. Can't wait for them to be open again. Let say the young ladies were great there at the hotel for pets. When you hire young people you either get people that could care less and are very rude, or people that are very kind. We unfortunately had a young girl that was beyond rude and made us feel like we never wanted to come back..we walked in with our puppy coupon book and she asked if we had already purchased it, which is understandable, but when I told her we purchased it 3 months ago she looked at me as if I were a thief. It's amazing how one bad experience can sour the memories of all previous encounters... We adopted our super-sweet 40 lb dog from Halo within this store a couple of years ago. She went through the poppy training program and has been getting her nails trimmed regularly here. We also regularly purchase fish and pet food from this store without incident. Last week my husband brought in the dog to get her nails filed down. After waiting around for the staff to get organized and after two other people who came in after him were helped first, he was finally addressed. When he went to sign the paper, the girl quickly reached towards our dog and it startled her causing her to nip at the worker. She didn't gently introduce herself at all and understandably, the dog got scared. Our dog is around our 9 month old and other Children all the time and has never nipped or bit at anyone so this was very out of character. After this incident, my husband was told to leave and that they wouldn't trim the nails. He offered to muzzle her and they said no. After all of this time, money and service, they are now refusing to trim the puppy's nails when it could have been avoided if the girl had just gently and calmly introduced herself before taking the dog. Wow the customer service really is awful at this location. just came out of the training area because I wanted my dog to try on a sweater before buying it and was told by the trainer that I needed to get out. I have had my dog groomed at another PetSmart location and the service there was great. However, the same could not be said about this place. I picked up my puppy (a Maltese) and it seemed that he had not been brushed out at all! My puppy rarely sheds, but when I picked him up and ran my hand down his fur, his fur was just clumping up and shedding like crazy! Very disappointed in the service provided. read more

First I paid for nail clipping in my package not only did they NOT cut my dogs nails I still had to pay and they charged me a $7 dollar special handling fee and a $10 dollar "weekend fee" which nobody informed me of when dropping off. On 7/4/18 I took my puppy in for a "get to know us exam" at the Glendale, AZ location. Bailey had a 3pm appointment to see Dr. Ouimette. Upon seeing the Dr. I had pre- filled out the new client information, and had given one of the techs all the copies of her vaccinations. She is updated on her all puppy vaccines including rabies. When another vet tech brought us into the room, he was of course trying to sell the Wellness Plans. It sounded like a good idea, at the time. Free office visits and spay option was what won me over. As the tech kept explaining the different options, he also said they offer the Leptospirosis vaccine and Lyme Disease vaccine. He said it is free with the Wellness Plan and it is recommended if your dog goes to the dog park and also said humans can catch this disease. He said regarding the Lyme Disease, it's good to have if you take your dog hiking or camping. That's all the information I was given. I was NOT informed about the side effects of any of these vaccines NOR was I explained these side effects from the doctor BEFORE the vaccines were administered. I should have been informed of the side effects by the doctor before she administered these vaccines because my dog had a bad allergic reaction to them! Also, after looking up the leptospirosis vaccine; there are a lot of information on the internet explaining that it is VERY COMMON to have side effects from this vaccine especially in small puppies! This makes me so mad that she did not include this information!! So after the vet tech took Bailey to see Dr. Ouimette, she examined Bailey in the back, gave the vaccines, and took a fecal exam. None of this was explained. She came out and explained afterwards that she administered the vaccines and that she swabbed Baileys butthole for a fecal exam. She said if an allergic reaction occurs it is "an easy fix". And that "it is not likely to occur especially if she has never had an allergic reaction to the other vaccines". WRONG!!! By the time we got home in 20 minutes, Baileys eyes had gotten so swollen! She was rubbing her face against the couch, and I had noticed her eye lids swollen. I called Banfield but they had closed already!! I was so angry! I had to rush her to an emergency pet hospital! They had to come out and triage her and I had to pay a $105 fee!!! All of this could have been prevented had I been given proper knowledge of these vaccines!! Bailey was suffering all day! She was so sore at the injection sites that she COULD NOT MOVE!! I had to carry her from room to room and if I set her down, she would not move from that spot. She could not lay down on her own; would cry at the slightest touch, and did not pee or poop all day after 3:00pm!!! I felt I was pushed into getting these vaccines just to get the wellness plan when it was not needed AT ALL!!! I called the next day 7/5/18 to check on the fecal results and Claudia asked how bailey was. I told her what happened and she said she would let Dr. Ouimette know. I never got a call from Dr. Ouimette personally to check up on Bailey or see how she was doing after being told she had to go to the ER! Who tells a person you are not going to get a reaction based on the fact that you have never had a reaction before? That's like saying you won't get an allergic reaction to pork because you never had an allergic reaction to any kind of meats before!!!! When calling Banfield and telling them what happened, and wanting to cancel the wellness plan they still wanted to charge me a fee of $200 for the charges of the vaccines that I was pushed to do and weren't explained of. Had I known; I would have declined everything!!! Why would I pay money when my dog suffered and when I had to pay the ER hospital?!?! read more

Not very happy with our last appointment. First I asked for just a cut and washed. Told them I didn't want the add on higher quality shampoo, teeth brushing but they did it anyways. The cut was poor. I did not notice until we got home because it was so busy. I have had to fix her paws, face and ears. Now I noticed they cut her with the clippers on her tail and never told me. I literally don't know how so many people can be so incompetent. I have been to this location multiple times and every single time they have to re-enter my dogs information and my information. Today the girl went there to get the dog's nails done, and low and behold again, my dogs information is not in the system. She brought in the dogs immunization records to verify she has her shots but apparently the documentation, from the veterinarian might I add, is not good enough. We've had enough with this location/corporation. Maybe when they have someone more competent here we may come back but doubt it. Guess we'll just go online to purchase supplies and find a new dog groomer instead ... plus the constant up-selling is annoying as crap. read more

I took my german shepherd here today for his first grooming ever.. I was very nervous because I had never done this before and my boy is a very nervous dog. (I've also heard tons of horror grooming experiences) I ended up booking an appointment online with Gerri for the furminator grooming. I was very pleased with how his fur turned out! He looked absolutely stunning! It was also very reasonably priced. I know he was a bit of a pain during the drying process so I am very grateful for Gerri working with him and taking breaks throughout the process. I reluctantly drove down bell road on a Saturday through traffic to buy a small bag of dog food that would last for 6 days (until we got paid again). When I got to petsmart I realized the small bag would be too small and the big bag would put me over my "pet budget" for the month. We are in the process of looking for a house so keeping a solid budget is really important. As I paced the isle contemplating my options I was approached by an employee who asked if they could help. I explained that I needed just enough food to hold my dog over until Friday but it looked like I was just going to have to spend the extra money (I wasn't going to let the dog starve, she was getting food one way or another )The employee very kindly asked my budget. She said "we are all on budgets so let me help you out.pick out whatever dog food you need and meet me at the register". I couldn't believe my ears. At the register she discounted the food so it was within my budget and just said it wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal to me. It was a huge deal! It wasn't about the discount but the compassion and the savvy but effective customer service that went above and beyond my expectations. I wasn't buying the cheapest food, and I don't think I looked like a person in need and ultimately I should have budgeted better.While most employees at other stores would have walked right by without a second thought this women didn't. read more

I have a Cavalier King Charles and I took her here recently for a grooming and trim and they did cut her hair very short which I asked them not to do but that wasn't the worst thing the worst part was her ears weren't properly brushed out and that was the whole reason why I brought her in to get grooming. They charge extra for the nail grinding which is fine but they don't include a clipping which their package says in the nails were not clipped as I had to do it when we got home. read more

I love shopping at Petsmart and the staff are always very friendly. Except for the staff that work in the grooming portion and the pet hotel portion. Very very rude and always seem like they hate their job. I was just at Petsmart this weekend buying treats for my pups and looked in the window where the pets hotel play area is and the employees seemed so uninterested. She sat there with her back against the wall and her arms folded not even paying attention to the dogs, there were at least three or four in the corner, huddling and shaking for their lives. I pulled out my phone to record her and then she started to move around and interact with the dogs. Disgusting to think that these dogs aren't even cared for to the best ability. If they really don't like their job that much that they can't even sit on the floor with the dogs then maybe they should get a job somewhere else. As for the grooming portion, they are very harsh and mean to the dogs. I've experienced it with my own dog but also just looking in the see-through glass windows they have all around the grooming area. Don't they know people can see? Put on a show for friendly service at least. Like I said I do love Petsmart and the brand that they carry so I will continue to shop there but I will never support the grooming or pets hotel portion. read more

I will not go to this location (or any other petsmart) grooming again. I called and made the appointment 2 weeks ago and I specifically asked a rabies question. All my pets are taken care of at Banfield Pet Hospital at this location. One dog always needs to be groomed as her hair just continues to grow and has no maximum length. Since she was a puppy, petsmart grooming has taken care of her grooming needs. The question I asked was that since her rabies vaccination expires May 6, can she still have her grooming done May 15? Her vet appointment was not available until May 29. The clerk that helped make the appointment assured me this would be fine since it was in the same month. I arrived for my appointment, and the manager tells me no, you cannot get her groomed as the EXACT date has passed. I did not even argue, I just left, never to return. They wasted my time and money. Since availability was limited to non-existent due to this COVID-19 debacle I made all of the appointments (I have 5 pets) with the earliest open dates. To avoid this situation, I specifically asked that question only to be told it was fine. So instead of being at work, I took a few hours off to make this appointment. So now I am out $75-$90 in missed earning opportunity, and used 3 hours of my earned vacation time, worth about the same amount. Since my time is not valuable to petsmart, then neither is my hard-earned money. My dog will not be back as I am sure there are other grooming options available to me. read more

After loosing a fur baby we boarded our Standard Poodle Puppy and our 6 yr old Tea cup poodle with PetSmart Pet hotel, we have always used them, but frankly, their employee's haven't a clue. Originally three dogs were coming to stay, one we fed specialty food, but since he passed away, the specialty food did not come for the other two dogs. Made the appointment with Zander the manager of the pets hotel, who I told to call my cell phone if there is anything pertaining to the two dogs staying as we were leaving the state within the hour. When I got home, there was a message from Zander on my land line phone at home stating there was no specialty food brought in for the dogs. (Mind you clear instructions were left on the online booking that did transfer to them). When calling for grooming appointment Jordan was handling the call, but Kaliee picked up the line and transferred the call to the grooming salon. After asking for the tech to cut my standard poodle puppy's ears short and to cut her down to 1/2" the store calls again to schedule the appointment - too many hands in the pot? The salon manager calls two to three hours later and tells me there's no way they can groom my Standard Poodle unless they do a pre-brush through and because her tail is matted to the skin all they can do is buzz off her tail hair. My mom and I agreed there is a different way to do her tail and refused to have it buzzed off. The grooming manager loosing the win on the phone insisted there was no other way. So we gave in only to have the Standard Poodles appointment cancelled. No phone call, no explanation and nothing. I will stick to my cheaper priced groomer, who brushes out our dogs after their baths and loves on them instead of hating the owners. I highly recommend Christie at Dales West Side Town and Country if you are looking for decent prices and better attitudes from real groomers. read more

I absolutely love this petsmart!! Brie and Paige were so helpful when we adopted our hamsters and we could not have had a better experience. The both of them were so kind and patient and answered all of our questions. We also kept Paige past closing for a cat adoption and she was so kind! I recently moved to Arizona and have used Petsmart for boarding my German Shepherd many times in California. In July I boarded my dog at the Bell Road Petsmart for about 13 hours. When I picked her up the woman manning the front desk told me that they were "sorry" but it appeared that my dog had not been walked all day. I was shocked. I asked why and she told me that she didn't know why but that she would make a note in the system to make sure it didn't happen again. ?????? I asked her if there was a protocol in place to walk the dogs for a bathroom break at least twice during a twelve hour day. She said yes and that she was sorry. Kim is always great with Hercules. From the time we walk in the door she is talking and playing with him to get him comfortable for his grooming session. He loves all the attention. Two days ago my dog visited the groomer at this location. Today my dog visited the Vet at this location. His ears are cut up and crusty due to the ear powder and ear plucking he had to endure. The store Manager could care less, the customer service line at their HQ could give a hoot. The Vet agreed that the cuts and inflammation in his ears was from the grooming salon. I am not looking for compensaion for his meds/vets visit. I am just hoping these ladies are educated in when to stop. Came into this location a couple days ago interested in adopting a kitten. A guy in the back asked if i wanted to see them so i went back there. First off, it smells like feces everywhere (i get it if there are a bunch of cats it will smell) BUT i noticed one of the kitties had thrown up on themselves and all the guy did was wipe it off of its fur with a dry towel. It was awful to even watch. We ended up coming back to purchase a little kitten AND THAT NIGHT THE KITTY WAS CONGESTED AND WE LATER FOUND OUT HE HAD AN UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION!!! DO NOT ADOPT KITTIES FROM THIS LOCATION!!! They're all sick and super skinny :( read more

I've been taking my long-haired CAT to PetsMart for his lion cut for 7+ years, and the groomers are amazing at the Bell Road/Arrowhead store - friendly, professional and efficient. The cat groomers take care of my kitty in record time and gives him an amazing cut and nail trim. He's a real trooper to go in regularly which really help our allergies. He was a feral cat, rescued from an apartment complex. Needless to say, he loves living at Disneyland! I really can't say enough good about PetsMart cat grooming. I've watched interactions of staff with the dogs and they look like they enjoy their jobs and take a real interest in the dog they service. Way to go, PetsMart! read more
