We waited for over 30 minutes to get some help with purchasing the parakeets. There was only three people working when they first opened up. This was a Thursday morning. One lady was at the register, another stocking shelves and the third missing. I went to the lady at the register and asked for help, she made an announcement. We waited and waited, then another lady came to relieve the lady at the register and started doing paperwork. I had to go up again and ask for help. She came a few minutes later to get the birds out of their cage. But I could tell she was not very pleased at me calling attention to their delay. The First Lady came by to apologize and said she needed to go to the restroom. I respect that and understand but I do not appreciate the attitude the other worker displayed. She even grabbed the bird roughly with her hands, I thought a net should have been used. It was just her whole persona was a bit off. My girls have waited years to get these birds, they saved their hard earned money to buy them. It makes me sad that we were treated with a bit of contempt because of the lack of priority that customers apparently have here. The paperwork could have waited young lady. Customers should have been helped first. read more

I went the and bought some Platies (small fish) 1 was gasping at surface right away and died the next day. Now a week later 2 more are gasping. My tank was just cycled with clorine and dried for weeks so I know 100% the gill fluke disease wasn't in my tank. And no its not ammonia or nitrites or nitrates tank was cycled and tested. Its there diseased fish. I asked the lady if they had any diseases and she said no. I figured I didn't have to quarantine them since it was a new tank... Now I have 1 dead fish and have to spend $20 on Frtize Prazi clean. Never again....going to Quality Aquatics Pet Shop from here on out. read more

As someone who used to work at PetSmart, (multiple locations) and in customer service for 16 years, overall it's a decent store. Staff has been friendly. However, today I was in with my 2 younger kids (4 and almost 6. had literally just woken from a nap when we pulled in the parking lot) We got what we needed, looked at the small animal habits and the fish and went to check out. As we checked out my kids were being kids ‍ fighting over carrying one of our items and the cashier says "new to parent?" ...... WHAT?! Excuse me?! In what world is that appropriate to say to anyone, anytime. But especially to a customer!? I was floored and I'm sure my facial expression said it all. I've gotten hamster here and he was very ill and ended up dying the next 3 days. they should take better care of their animals as it is their saying as 'petsmart' the employees are no better tho. they're very rude to a lot of their customers as a few of my friends has been here and also had been yelled at by one of them. their pricing though is good here but just the attitude and the care for the pets arent. at this point they shouldn't be in business cause of how everything is. read more

I just received the RUDEST phone call from the Elk River Pet Smart Grooming Department. They cancelled my dogs bath because she is old and has a collapse trachea and their lazy incompetent staff doesn't have compassion to take the extra time to give her a bath. The groomer told me last time I was there with Roxy they would still give her a bath over the next few visits and sometime down the road she would possibly have to go to another groomer to get bathed and groomed. But not 1 month later! What a joke!! I will make it my mission to tell people I know that use Elk River grooming services to not bother going there as they never did that great of a job anyways and now with then being so rude with my older dog I would never recommend them. read more

We were able to adopt our dog from the adoption agency Arrow's Heart Animal Rescue that comes regularly to Petsmart. The staff at Petsmart has been very helpful in so many ways in assisting our family with our new dog. They assisted us with the right food for a dog's diet and what type of toys we should get to assist with the dog's behavior. We now utilize them for obedience training and they have made it fun and so worthwhile. We just got our dog groomed for the first time at only $12. PetSmart staff are very compassionate and caring about all pets. read more

Very poor customer service. In making the appointment to get 2 dogs groomed I stated that I would not be able to drop off dogs until 9:15 due to schedule conflict. They agreed, said that was not a problem. When I arrived about 2 minutes behind schedule (happens to all of us when loading up kids, dogs, getting leashes on, etc) I was informed that I would have to reschedule both appointments. It takes a lot of effort to round up vaccine records, coordinate schedules, load up animals. Etc. There was not even one other customer in the grooming area. Very disappointed with this outcome. Would not go back to this store. read more

Today was one of the most scariest day of my life. I just left the vet at Walmart to get my puppy vaccinated and across the street is a Petsmart store. I decided to stop by with my puppy to grab some doggy ice cream with him. I walked all the way to the back of the freezer and grabbed the ice cream we then walked towards checkout as soon as we were close to the line a random dog was not with its owner and the dog ran up to my dog and attacked him. I was telling him to go get away and yelled for someone to grab their dog. I heard a lady yell it's no ones dog. I'm like what??? She said we have a adoption area here and he must have escaped. Lucky an older gentlemen was able to grab the leash of the attacker. I said to the shelter employee that someone should have been supervising him he literally just bite on my dog legs and he was crying and the shelter employee said well its nobody's fault. I'm like yes it is. It's the shelter employee or staff who should be supervising and if my dog is injured It is your fault. It be the same if it was toddler walking inside Petsmart store and he or she got a attack by a shelter dog. I was livid. I told the store manager and he just took my number down. He never wrote a incident report. I never received a apology from the shelter group or a phone call today from the store manager. My dog is now Traumatized and sore due to his vaccinations and from the dog biting. read more

I brought my dog in for grooming and one girl took down information about how short to cut home Ect .. then the girl came to groom him, she was not very friendly didn't seem like she wanted to be there. They told me 2-3 hours they would call. No call after 4 hrs so I called they said they would be done shortly. I picked up him brought him home and my husband noticed his tail never got done so I called right away. My daughter started looking and noticing long prices of hair that were not cut under arms on his belly on his feet. I have never had such a bad job ever in all the places I have went!!! I will never go back !!! terrible customer service as well!! I called said I didn't want the girl who groomed him to fix it, I get there and she comes out , I told her get someone else please. Don't make appointments available if you can't get to the animal at set time.. I can see running 10-20 minutes late but I brought my dog in for a simple cleaning & nail clipping. I walked back in to check on her after 1 hour, they said it'll be another 25min. It's been 3.5 hours and they haven't even seen my dog yet.. Absolutely inexcusable. read more

They do an okay job with grooming, not a lot of experience, though. Most of them are newer to grooming. Unfortunately, I will not be taking my dog back there. They pad the bill with too many extra charges! I was charged 10.00 extra because they said they needed a 2nd groomer to help the 1st groomer. My dog is 3.5 pounds. An experienced groomer would not need extra help with such a small dog. Why is it my problem that the 1st groomer was unable to do her job?! I have never had that experience with any other groomer in the last 11 years. I also got another 10.00 charge due to matting. There was no matting! It is a tiny dog that is combed daily! Both of these charges were a first for me at this grooming salon. They said they had a new manager in that dept and she was setting the fees. I feel like I was ripped off! $83.00 for a tiny dog to be washed/haircut/nails cut. No special services of any kind (special shampoo/grinding of nails, etc). That was before any tip. I'm very happy to have a PetSmart in Elk River. The new building gives it an edge because everything inside is sleek and modern. Staff always seem friendly and eager to help while shopping. And for a pet store I feel the prices are pretty average. Made an appointment for my dog to get groomed. They asked on the phone if my dog had had her rabies shot and I said yes. I asked if I needed to bring in her shot record since I've never been there and I was told no. Sure enough I drive the 15 miles to get there and they won't groom my dog because I didn't have proof she had a her rabies shot. The girl was kinda rude about the whole thing. read more
