The manager is terrible. My husband ordered 49 boxes of cat litter from Petsmart in Denton TX to be delivered to Gainesville, TX. The boxes arrived basically destroyed, either in the Petsmart warehouse or by FedEx. The main issue that we are having is with the return process. This order was placed from California by my husband, who is the card holder. The manager of the Denton Petsmart Store stated that the original credit card must be present at the return. This is impossible since the credit card is in California. I believe a refund could be processed using the email order confirmation and the associated card details, without requiring a physical presentation of the card. I believe the Store Manager is going out of her way to make the return as difficult as possible because she doesn't want 49 damaged boxes return. Additionally, we ordered the cat litter for delivery because my daughter, who resides in Gainesville, TX has challenging health issues. Transporting the damages boxes back to the store is a significant challenge for her. At most, she can manage 10 boxes at a time in her vehicle, which would require multiple trips between Gainesville and Denton - an 80 mile round trip - an unreasonable burden. As the store has a contract with FedEx, the store has more influence in working with FedEx to come and pick up the boxes. If FedEx is the entity that damaged the boxes, then FedEx should make things right. The Store Manager was not about to discuss this with FedEx or provide any assistance or solution to this problem. walked in to get a fish today for my nephew's birthday. I was greeted very poorly. I had questions about fishes and was very disappointed on the attitude that I received from the employees. they questioned me multiple times about having a fish of my own when I told them multiple times that I did and made me feel really weird. When I was in the store I would not recommend the store whatsoever and the employees I am talking about are a blonde girl who specializes in fish that worked tonight and a man or a woman at the cash register with greased back long hair with curly tips. very disappointing because I was so excited to be doing this and they ruined my experience so sad. then I actually forgot to get fish food walked back in. Went to Petsmart at 441 S Loop 288, Denton, TX 76205. The store was out of the litter I always use, so I got some different cat litter for my 2 kitties. It was awful, tracked everywhere. Went back to return it - I'd bought 2 22.5 lb. boxes - and they refused to credit me for the opened box, said more than 1/2 was gone. With 2 cats, and a very large litter box which I probably purchased there, using half the box of litter is normal. I realized later that I should have made them weigh the opened box to see just how much was missing. I got the refund for the 1 box. Should not have left the opened box there: they are probably using it in the adoption area. Went across the street to PET SUPPLIES PLUS and got my regular litter. I've been shopping at Petsmart for years but it will be CHEWY from now on. My best recommendation is: DO NOT SHOP THERE. read more

1. Most importantly, I explained in detail that our dog is a rescue, petrified of loud noises. DO NOT try to blow dry her. I don't care if she is wet when I pick her up, just please do not blow dry her. The groomer said okay, then told me it would be 3 to 4 hours before our dog would be ready. I called 4 hours later and was told that the dog was not ready, it would be another 1-2 hours because she had to be kennel dried as she was terrified of the dryer. I TOLD THEM not to try to blow dry her and they completely ignored my repeated request! Also, "knowing" she couldn't be blow-dried, they told me max 4 hours, and it was closer to 6 (relevancy explained next). 2. Upon picking our dog up, a different groomer handed me the receipt and said "did you pay yet?" I said no, and she said "go to the register and pay first". No "hi!" No friendly smile, nothing. I then waited in line behind three people, the first chatting away with the cash register person (ignoring the line of 7 standing there waiting), then the person in front of me had a long conversation with the cashier about their press-on fingernails and getting them at TJ Max v. Walmart.... I am not kidding. When it was my turn, the cashier said $137. I said really, because they told me $115. She said "I think it's the tax, the tax is 10%". I said it can't be the tax, 10% isn't legal. She said "yes, it's 10% tax, do you want me to call a manager?" I was short on time and asked if the receipt was itemized and since it was, said no thanks, no need for a manager, I'd deal with it later. [Note: tax was not 10%; they had charged $12 for teeth brushing, then the regular tax legal for our city.] 3. Back to the groomer, I show the receipt. The groomer yells back, get Molly! I said no, it's Holly. She said "which one is Holly?" I said the St. Bernard mix. She turns back and yells, Holly! Another person brought Holly to me. I said please wait while I check her dewclaws, sometimes they're missed (there are only two - she's a mixed breed). Then I checked Holly's ears and they hadn't been cleaned. I said "wait, her ears aren't done." There were two groomers working and one standing nearby and they all just stared at me. I said also her "shorts" haven't been cut (one of them said those are her haunches). Then one said my groomer was on break, but I could wait for her. I asked how long - 30 minutes. I said I couldn't wait. More silence and staring. Then one of the groomers contacted my groomer and confirmed she was at lunch and would be back in 30 minutes but I could wait. I repeated I didn't have time. Another groomer said she'd clean the ears, which she did. No one trimmed the haunches. The one bringing back Holly after ear cleaning said I could wander around in the store and they'd page me when my groomer was back to trim the haunches. I don't understand why another groomer who didn't have a dog at the time couldn't step in and help. I said I couldn't wait (I really could not as I was already behind because they had moved my scheduled 7am appointment to 8:15, then took an hour and half longer than they said they would to return the dog). 4. I was upset, but left without further discussion. I had asked three things: DO NOT BLOW DRY her, do not mess with her tail or mane area, and please trim her haunches in particular. It was like they had done the exact opposite! Plus charged more than quoted - I'm unsure why - and frankly, given that they didn't do her ears I have no reason to believe they brushed her teeth at all. 5. When we got home, Holly flopped upside down for belly rubs, and I found that the groomer had nicked her! She was bleeding on her belly! They didn't tell me. They had shaved her (sort of, it was a little random), they also shaved her snout (WHY?!?!?) and randomly trimmed her paw pads (some shaved, some apparently cut, other areas still long). 6. Another note for the particular store/location: at 8:15 the store isn't yet open. I got to the door that did not open automatically yet, and there were a few groomers in the salon area and one started gesticulating from inside to me to pry the doors open! Seriously? She couldn't come pry open the doors and at least try to be welcoming and helpful? I pried them open, shoved them closed, and did the same when I left after leaving our dog with the grooming people. In short, it was bizarre, as though no one in the room had ever groomed a dog or dealt with a customer. I scheduled (and PetSmart confirmed) Holly's appointment was with Claudia at 7am, scheduled to take 3-4 hours. None of those details were kept by PetSmart: we got a different groomer at a different time per PetSmart request, that took 5 1/2 hours. They didn't follow any of our requests (don't blow dry, leave tail and mane area, trim haunches and paw pads). They tried to blow dry her, didn't clean her ears (did they brush her teeth?), they cut her belly and didn't tell me.... No need to continue to reiterate. read more

We've taken our little 13 pound puppy to get groomed here now twice and have had a great experience! The staff is so friendly & kind and they do a great job! Very reasonably priced compared to other grooming salons in the area. Will be continuing to come back here!! read more

Grooming is horrible!!! Let's start with the attitude from the snotty groomers. They clearly don't like their jobs, and it shows, as they take it out on the customers. There is one groomer by the name of Claudia with the last initial of "A."She had the worst attitude after our dog's toenail was injured. However, not before she refused to help my husband with the documents for proof of vaccinations. Claudia needs a good ole Gen X slap in the face with the reality whip! Always rude as possible, and then as soon as we leave, they call us to come back and get our pet because now his toenail is an issue...but it wasn't before they took him back. We had no idea. I have been there twice now and Claudia the groomer is the worst. I don't want her touching my pet ever, and it should tell other customers the same. Never will I use PetSmart Grooming in Denton, Texas off loop 288 again. I have been going there for YEARS!!! read more

Worst experience I have ever encountered. I made an appt. early for my dog who has dementia, because I was told they could get her out faster in the morning appt. I believe we set it up as an express which is 15 dollars more. When I got there at 8:00 with all the necessary paper work for shots. The girl would not accept the paperwork even though the paperwork was recent. (Feb of this year,) She said she had to call and verify because they did not put an expiration date on it. The month and year were clearly stated and shots are good for a year. She called the place and they gave her the exp. Then she said it would be 4 hrs. I told her I was told it would be sooner. I was upset because I had discussed this at length when I made the appt. I relinquished and said I would do it this time, but I would not come back, because I needed an express as we had discussed when I made the appt. At that point, she refused to groom my dog!! I said no problem and I would do it for today, but I would seek another groomer in the future. She again refused to Groom my dog. I asked her to speak to the manager and she said she Was the manager!! She was horrible!! Never apologized for the miscommunication, never acted remorseful for the situation I was put. Had no people skills and no remorse for the situation I was put in. I would never leave my dog in the hands of such a cold-hearted person!!! read more

I took my dog summer to the groomer here today. When i came to pick her up she was completely butchered!!! I spoke with a manager and told them to not cut her hair!!! i asked for a trim how does a trim result into my dog not being able to open her eye!!! HER LEFT EYE IS COMPLETELY CLOSED SHE CANNOT OPEN IT AT ALL. i am now at the emergency vet due to this, they are now saying there is an ulcer in her eye. they stated they would pay for it IF they are responsible. My ex took his standard poodle to the pet smart on loop 288 in Denton. He got a call from them that he needed to go now to pick him up. He had only been there about 30 minutes. He went over there and when he walked in they told him that they had nicked his lip and it started bleeding. They took him to the vet in petsmart and he put something on it to stop the bleeding. This is how they sent him home. They said since they had nicked him and he started bleeding they couldn't finish his hair cut Until the nick was healed. Even from these pictures this is not how you groom s poodle. This is unacceptable. we will never take a dog here again. This wasn't the first time we've had an issue with them but decided to give them another chance. Please don't take your pet there. read more

They didn't even try. My dog has anxiety and growls at people when they get close. He would do the same thing to our groomer in CA but they took the time to let him sniff them and were always able to groom him. These two girls tried once and said "we can't do it". I'm not asking them to put themselves at risk but they literally tried once and gave up. And they were not friendly. I walked in with my dog and a massive stroller with my 3m old daughter, struggling around their tiny office, running into desks and the door and no one even offered to open the door for me. Unfortunately they stopped carrying my dogs brand of food and the other brands that come near it in quality are ridiculously expensive. Before they ran out of my preferred brand, Solid Gold, they started selling it for $20+ extra than before ($49.99 to $75.)... how anyone is supposed to feed their pets food that isn't garbage these days without breaking the budget is unknown to me. I have had to switch to Amazon which I would really rather have not. It is unfortunate. The staff here are excellent, both professional and competent, and I trust them to guide me in the right direction information wise, so I added an extra star for them alone. But for me, I cannot recommend this store since there is nothing there for my dogs anymore. And for months I was told they'd have my brand in stock "next week," until it became "we just won't be stocking it anymore." A lot of time and gas spent coming up short. read more

This salon is NOT solution oriented. We just moved here and chose Petsmart because we have been taking our dogs there for years at our former home. I have a very fluffy dog with a lot of mats. Rather than come to some compromise/feathering the cuts as my former Petsmart groomer would do, the manger said this is the company policy to shave him down to the lowest level all over. The manger was polite but kept saying it was company policy which must have changed in the past couple of months. So extremely disappointed in Petsmart Grooming Denton. read more

Did not enjoy taking my puppy to Banfield at the Denton location. I will find a nurse/vet that is more personable for the price they charge. I had just adopted my dog and found out he hadn't had his rabies shot. I decided to look up places and read the reviews. I found bad reviews with other places in my area so I decided on PetSmart. I had previously took my dog to one while living in California. While on the website I found a coupon for a free office visit. This was perfect because I was concerned about his teeth. Let me start with this, the ladies at the front were amazing! If I go back it will be because of them. I made the appointment with a Doctor who had several available. I'll update with his name later. I told him my concerns and he prescribed a solution and informed me that he would need the deep cleaning. All of this was fine, but I guarantee 2min was spent talking about my dog and 10min was spent trying to get me to sign up for their Wellness Plan. I did think the plans were great, but I left feeling like he cared more about me signing up for the plan than my dog. He took his time trying to convince me to sign up. When I said I wasn't going to sign up that day, he told the assistant to get what I needed and his exact words "send them home". I left feeling uneasy about this place. read more

We went to this store because the grandkids wanted to check out the bearded dragons. Their mom had already nixed the idea but they wanted to just "look". So of course we accepted our grandparent duties and took them. The staff was super helpful and the kids really enjoyed the trip. This was our second appointment with Rachel B for my pet. We were 11 minutes late according to her, however we were on time to get in the store but they made us wait outside the salon because there was a customer inside with their dog. Rachel B denied to give him a haircut saying we're late. The worst part is, when we walked into the grooming salon the lady at the front desk gave a weird disgusted look to my pet. I wish I could give this place less than a single star. They were horrible to my dog HORRIBLE. We had dropped our girl off at 12:15 and by 12:30 I got a call saying she didn't want a bath. Not many dogs are fond of bath and ahead of time I had let them know she was a stray and was super anxious. She is a pit mix and I know if it was any other dog they would have not been worried that she didn't love the bath and was avoided getting touched. She is the sweetest thing, has never bit anyone, is obedient in the bath. This lady cut 3 of her nails horribly and said she tried which is very hard to believe. When I went to pick her back up 10 min after dropping her off she was extremely scared ears down looked like she had just been hit and has never been timid like that even when found on the street. The girls ignored me and announced to everyone my dog was getting sent home didn't say another single word but I continued to watch the girl whisper to her co worker about me. I am not one to complain, make a scene or even write a review about a place but I was in tears when I left because how embarrassing and shameful for making someone feel bad for their dog not enjoying a bath. The ladies are unprofessional and act like their in middle school. Do better and treat all dogs the same. read more

This store and location is my go-to place for pet supplies. Everyone that works here are very friendly and they have a good variety of pet products that they sell. The prices seems to be about the same as other pet stores. If you need special prescribed pet food, you either need to get an appointment with Banfield or bring a prescription to Banfield and they will give you a card so that you are allowed to buy it. One of my dogs have been really sick and needed prescribed dog food that my vet didn't have in stock. I came to PetSmart after Banfield had closed. I talked to a lady working there explaining how sick my dog was and she was nice to get the manager instead of taking the easy way out and just say rules are rules. The manager let us buy enough dog food so that we could come in a few days later. So many pet stores don't show much humanity, it was so nice to see it when we went here on this occasion. read more

If I could give less than a star I absolutely would. I am setting up a NEW fish tank and ran in there to see if they had any female bettas. I found two that looked healthy among all of the dead bettas that were rotting and disintegrating inside their little cups. It was clear they had been dead for a while. This was the grossest and dirtiest fish area I have ever seen, every tank was covered in what looked like a black sludgy mold growing up the walls and over the rocks. I asked the nice young person at the counter what the return policy on dead Fish was... with as many dead and rotting fish that I found I figured I need to know what the policy is in case mine die. She was very helpful but apparently very misinformed as I learned from the person that finally came over to help me get other fish. LAUREN THE MANAGER said that if my fish die within the first seven days or die at all after I leave the store my warranty would be voided because she did not like the size of my tank. Or what I planned to add to it. I can understand her having an opinion about what I am doing with my tank because of safety of the fish or maybe just as an animal lover. But let's go back to the cleanliness and amount of dead fish there were in this store that she manages. To clarify I also informed her that I have multiple tanks and that all new fish are in quarantine for the first week. The only reason I even considered purchasing fish from this location is because I intended on putting them in quarantine and the bettas were in individual cups. I wish I had taken pictures. If you are buying fish in Denton go to pet supermarket or Petco don't waste your time even walking into petsmart. Came in to do a return with a filter bought in an all inclusive kit, immediately approached the worker at the front who wasn't busy doing anything, just standing at checkout and she immediately looked as if she wasn't going to do it. Upon pushing further she said it's store policy from store to store how they choose to do returns. Sad that no one wants to do their really easy job these days. I would really like Petsmart if it wasn't so expensive. They have a huge selection of everything and unfortunately is the only store that sells the dog food that we give our dogs. They have so many to choose from if you are ever looking to change up your food. They have tons of pet supplies and multiple animals that they sell. Again, it's just so expensive and I usually go to Walmart. The staff is always really nice and offer treats to our dogs. It's really fun seeing other people with their dogs shopping. If you are looking for a huge selection and quality products than Petsmart is the place for you, but you are going to pay for it. read more

I just had a great customer service experience! I was checked out by Sam, and even though it was crowed and a long line she was very cheery and polite. She took the time to be excited about the couple in front of me getting a new puppy for xmas, she complimented my nail polish, and was actively greeting everyone that came in the doors. Sam's attitude really made my morning. Thanks for employing great people like her! read more

I made an appointment for my dog, when I arrived the lady who was supposed to take care of her saw that she was a lil scared ( who wouldn't it was her first bath in the grooming salon) and proceeded to tell me that my dog looked too anxious and that she didn't feel comfortable taking care of her, I asked her if putting her on a muzzle would make her feel better about taking care of her and she said that she was not allowed to put a muzzle in a dog while bathing her, Petsmart should hire more capable groomers!!! Mind you my dog is a kid size dog less than 50 pounds it should be something that they deal with on a daily basis... and if your groomers just don't want to take care of the customer like they should then you should evaluate better your employees and the type of customer service they are providing. My dog has been here twice now. The first time, right after she got bathed, they neglected to pick up another dogs blood off the floor of the main lobby, and my dog stepped in it. When I asked if they could clean her paws off, they refused saying it would cost me more money. The second time, after more than an hour, I received a call to pick her up because she was "not wanting to go in the water"; typical for a dog. When I went there to pick her up, the groomer claimed my dog had bitten her. Keep in mind, my dog had never bitten any groomer, nor person. When I got my dog back, she was shaking and had her tail between her legs. Do better Petsmart, and treat your doggy patients with more kindness. read more

Went mid afternoon on a Saturday and all but two little furry hamsters were adopted. Great for the hamsters not so much for us. Store was otherwise typical of other pet smart stores busy with those coming in for supplies and the groomer was at work with several dogs. read more

This petsmart is TERRIBLE! They never have crickets but I had to go because my chameleon was out and petco was closed. Petco is way better about their employees and crickets!! We rang the doorbell to get crickets and she came out(she because I didn't get her name) I asked for 30 crickets and she kinda raised her voice and said "WHAT?!" I replied with 30 and she started getting them out. My boyfriend tried to talk to her but she didn't reply when she got the crickets out and slammed the cricket box and handed it to me aggressively and walked into the employees only room and I said "thanks" and she did not say a word only a raised voice saying "WHAT!?" If petsmart wants customers we do not need to be treated terribly by a petsmart employee like get ahold of yourself it's petsmart! I have been to this Petsmart oh so many times in the past 10 years. They have a nice variety of things you may need for all your pets. They have several pet events going on here. I have visited Santa Paws and gotten pictures with him and my furry friends many times. They also had a pet birthday party here once, and will do kids crafts sometimes. They offer dog training classes, host adoption events, and have a vet. I like the rewards I get by being a PetsPerk member, but have been coming here less often in the past 6 months because I found the same dog food cheaper at PetCo. I also like that they help donate to charities. They were also super helpful when I recently got a kitten. I got her from the Denton Animal Shelter, and they gave me a new kitten coupon book. Awesome! Everyone is always friendly at the counter and asks questions about your pets. They always ask if I need help carrying my dog food out. If you need help finding a product, it's sometimes hard to find someone to help. They're quick to open more registers when it gets busy too. Pets are always welcome here too, so it's fun to bring them to get what you need/want. read more

This a review for the GROOMING Department, which I would've given 5 stars to, until this last visit. I never write bad reviews, but animals warrant it, so here goes: Jasmine was the best groomer EVER. Very kind to animals and all-around excellent. After several years, she's no longer there. So, I took my dog to Kyla. Kyla did an okay job (I wasn't expecting the fur equivalent to the Sistine Chapel - I'm genuinely easy to please). But around my dog's neck was a weird ring of hair. She looked like an old man with a beard, while the rest of her was shaved. Kyla did not remove her collar for the hair cut! Even if I were paying a dime (and not $50), I would expect a haircut that doesn't require I get out scissors at home. I could not talk to Kyla about it because she was conveniently on a lunch break as soon as my dog was done. Never have I not been able to talk with the groomer right after! And it's a shame, because Kyla seems very sweet and did a decent job (besides bestowing my pup a beard). I am happy my dog seemed at ease when I picked her up. That's really what it's about. Which brings me to Amber, the primary reason for the low rating. Amber was grooming a dog when I picked mine up. She has no business touching dogs and I pray she doesn't have any of her own. I was standing at the counter when the dog she was working on yelped and screeched. Amber had her hand clenched to its chin, saying repeatedly, "you will not bite me." It was excessive and almost like she was trying to show off to her coworkers. It was sad and unnecessary. Even if that dog did snip at her, the dogs are positioned on the table so that the groomer is in control. Being rough with it as punishment was not Amber's place and it shows she has zero concept of animal behavior. I stuck around a few minutes and the dog seemed fine (and incredibly sweet). Honestly, Amber probably just nicked it and it reacted like any creature would. In conclusion, Kyla's fine, Amber's not and I miss Jasmine. I'm sure there are some excellent groomers here, but I don't care to find out. Not if they allow coworkers to be cruel to dogs. read more

PetSmart in Denton was my favorited pet supply store for years. Today I went in for supplies and the STENCH of cat urine as POWERPOWERING! I had to hurry to get what I needed and get out......... The entire store smelled awful. If this condition continues, the Health Department should be the next stop. I drive 45 minutes to get home and that stench of cat urine stayed in my nose and throat all the way home. Deplorable! read more

Oh the Wide World of Petsmart. I bought my second cat here (I have only two - I'm not at Cat Lady status just yet, thanks) and she is the love of my life. Yeah, I have a favorite - dont judge me. I was prepared to spend all day going to shelters and pet stores and decided to hit this store up first. And she was everything I wanted! Her name is Cosette (ok, so I'm also a little obsessed with Les Miserables) and is tres jolie! I did a fair amount of pet-related shopping here when I lived in Denton for their cat tree contraption, water bowl fountain, scratchers, toys, etc. (Wait, I think I just instantly got closer to Cat Lady status sharing that I buy all that crap for my cats - damn.) And I MUCH prefer the Petsmart to the Petco. Petco always smells, has very little selection, and the employees were always rude to me for some crazy reason. But Petsmart is always clean, bright, readily stocked, etc. I actually applied to work there but had to rescind because of my then-beloved eyebrow ring and their policy against facial jewelry. I'm from out of state and was trying to find a temporary groomer while visiting the Dallas area. My grooming appointment was for 12 noon and waited for three hours for my dog to get done. It took for me to get ticked off after I walked in after three hours for them to finish my dog. The manager tried to smooth it over with all the steps. Bullshit. Don't care. I paid $50 for them to give my dog a bathe and clip her hair. 1/2 hour tops. Not impressed! Will not return. I will wait until I can make it back to my home town. read more

I came here last Sunday to get my aquarium water tested. Had the BEST help . Went back today to have my water retested. Waited in the fish area for 15 minutes looking around before asking for assistance. My favorite petsmart cashier called For assistance for me and I waited another 10 minutes, no help....she paged again... Another 5 minutes... No help. So we left. Even though I saw plenty of employees walking around and an employee helping someone with a hamster the entire time. I like this petsmart but think ill be taking the drive over to the next town to check out their service. read more

A pet store with pretty much all you need for many different types of pets. I go there for my cats and they have the good quality food and items for their special litter box. The prices are on par with other stores. I haven't used any of their services, but they offer Veterinarian services and grooming services. They have some exotic animals like lizards and a few smaller snakes. They have rabbits, gerbils, hamsters and mice. The had a decent selection of fish as well. The last time I was in they set-up a small dog adoption area in the middle of the store. It was a fenced off area that customers to play with puppies and dogs up for adoption. They also had a few adult cats for adoption. Staff is always helpful when they aren't too busy. My only real complaint is some times they seem under staffed and checking out can be slow.
