I am a relatively new resident and brought my sweet dog to Happy Dog Spa. Every month I reinforced my simple requests...no fragrance, no scarf. And specific minor trim according to the breed. Minor trim! The last visit my dog was shaved totally with perfume and a scarf. After 10 months, I had enough. Their answer was, oh sorry..the owner Kate will call you. Kate never called. Beware. I live out of town and was visiting my sister. Very unhappy with my local groomer so was trying to find a place we could use when we come visit every couple of months and HDS is perfect. They had appointments available the same week I called and did a great job grooming my young maltipoo, who I know is pretty antsy and still uncomfortable with the grooming process. Her nails are trimmed back beautifully, her coat is all an even length and was brushed out nicely and she doesn't have any nicks or cuts--very important to me as I don't want my baby girl hurt and even more afraid of the process in the future. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the girl at the front was kind of rude when we asked for a "puppy cut." My sister kindly dropped the dog off for me while I was working and when she told her that's what I wanted, the front staffer acted annoyed and said "that's not a thing." However, she did ask what exactly I was looking for in terms of the cut and they delivered. And she was otherwise nice, just a bit taken aback by how that request was handled. Be aware of where you take your pups for grooming. I took my Miniature Schnauzer to Happy Dog Spa in Corinth besides the Albertsons, for his grooming. When I pick him up he had something on his eyes. We took him back and the owner looked at it, they flush his eye and gave it back to me. He still had his eye almost closed. I called the groomer and she said that he was ok, I told her that his eye was almost closed and she said that it must have been outside (not more than 10 min passed since we returned). I called her and told her that I would need to take him to the vet as an emergency and she said "well that is up to you". Well let me tell you. 2 hours later and a visit to the Vet, 376.00 dollars in meds and examination, my dog had an ulcer in his cornea because of the abrasive effect of a liquid/soap. And I'm not evem mentioning the traumatic experience he is going through because we need to give him 4 different eyedrops every 2 hours. read more

*WARNING* I have used this business for the past year and I have not had too many problems, besides the Medicore hair cuts. I went in on 7/25/2023 to get my two dogs groomed. When I walked in two people came over to get my fur babies. One was friendly(most staff is friendly) and the other unprofessional. The only thing said to me when I picked up my pups were they had to cut ones beard short. My dog was whining on the way home. His eye looked irritated and I decided to monitor it. I had to contact my vet two hours later for an emergency appointment. Two abrasions are in his eyes. After back and forth the owner denied any responsibility and said it did not happen at their shop. I asked for compensation and they refused. All I wanted was for them to take responsibility for their mistakes. Now my dog is permanently damaged and as of now I am $400 dollars in with vet bills. Used to LOVE LOVE LOVE Happy Dog Spa... but I think they changed owners & a lot of their staff recently. In hopes that I was wrong I took my dog again today. The previous owners & workers had such a sweet, loving & fun environment. Now the environment is way more cold and not welcoming at all. My dog used to love the groomers and leave so so happy. The groomers would say how much fun they had with her and have great customer service. The new staff I've experienced is the complete opposite. They made sarcastic comments about how "wild" my dog is and the past two times my dog came out acting scared/sad/different. I tried this groomer on a whim and I'm so glad I did! They have great service, very friendly and can work with nervous dogs without getting all the dogs crazy. The groomers seems much more experienced than the young groomers (aka kids) at places like PetSmart. The price was really reasonable and they had no problems with my dog. It was easy to get an appointment, I called on a Friday and they had a Saturday appointment available a week out. It only took them about 3 hours to groom my dog which was very reasonable. read more

Started going there when we first moved to Texas from Ca 4 1/2 years ago. Had a great groomer that took her time and was so good to our now 10 year old nervous Toy Poodle. After she left down the line was an amazing groomer Bob who did a beautiful job and left there to go to PetSmart. I don't know if the ownership has changed during this virus, but they have young kids working. We had an incident recently where we took our older dog and our 6 month old Toy Poodle in, we got a call 45 minutes later to come pick them up as the pup had worms and they both had to go, they said it was highly contagious, they had been bathed and they started trimming the older dog, I asked the price since they only bathed them, the girl checked and said $20 each, when I got there they said $85. Originally they said they would "finish" the job when the pup was cleared and we would pay the difference. We paid the $85 as we couldn't go in and talk to the owner. Since then I've read many disturbing reviews and have decided to take our babies elsewhere. read more

Awful! Staff was arguing about the work schedule while I was checking out and paying. They cut my dog's hair wayyyy too short, shaved her all the way down to her skin! In fact, the groomer shaved her so short she developed a horrible skin irritation/had a horrible reaction. They had nicked her neck bad, too. I found out a few hours later that they had left soap and water in her ear, which she developed an ear infection from. So, they cost me $375.00 at the vet for antibiotics, ear drops, and healing ointment and all for her skin. She suffered for the next couple of months! Our poor beautiful Border Collie was in terrible shape. Don't take your dog here! It will cost you dearly! I'd give them negative stars if it was an option. Immature and unprofessional staff. Our little 1.5 year old Punky had only been groomed once before. I was very nervous about doing it again but her fur didn't seem to be grooming itself! After doing a lot of research I found Happy Dog Spa. I stopped in to take a look before booking and they were so sweet and able to take Punky in the next day. I dropped her off at 10 and Hannah was assigned as her groomer. Hannah met with the two of us and we agreed on the cut and services. Hannah was very kind and genuinely interested in Punky. They called at 12:30 and she was done. When I inked her up she was beautiful. Her fur is very sparse and not easy to work with. Hannah did an amazing job! Punky was very happy and felt great. After I called and complained to KRISTIN (the groomer), she had the nerve to pass the phone and say "I don't want to deal with her anymore". REALLY?!? Hmm okay. I'm sure there may be some good groomers there but that attitude means she should not be in any type of customer service position. I wish I would have listened to the other reviews before wasting $100 on this awful place. I took my dog on Friday and it was the worst groom I have ever seen. I took her somewhere else to fix it (because happy dog spa wouldn't answer their phone) and the groomer said it was atrocious and she NEVER would let a client leave her salon looking like that. She said her 3 year old could do a better job. I paid for extra services that clearly weren't completed and her actual groom itself was so awful! Her ears weren't trimmed, her anal glands weren't expressed, she wasn't deshedded (and I paid extra for that), her paw pads weren't trimmed, her ears were filthy on the inside, her sanitary areas on the inside of her legs hadn't been touched, and her front and hind legs had clumps of uneven hair. I called the salon and didn't get answer until TUESDAY, when the manager said the owner would give me a call back the next day. I got a call back and the owner had an excuse for every little thing they did wrong. Apparently, you have to ask for services to be performed, even though they are included and paid for. Makes sense. The owner had zero apologies for the disgusting "service". I'm sorry, but if that's how to run a business - you need to re-evaluate what industry you're in. I'm just frustrated and the owner had terrible service. She ended the call with "I will not be giving you a refund and my suggestion is to take your dog elsewhere, because you obviously had problems with your previous groomer too since you brought her here". Which is totally not true, I just got tired of driving her downtown when there are plenty of places near me in Plano. I'm so frustrated and annoyed, not even because she wouldn't give me a refund but that she's the owner and her service was awful and she didn't do anything to rectify the situation. They bathed him and blow-dried him which he didn't need all that much since he'd had a bath three weeks ago, and then they said he wouldn't let them cut his hair. Charged us fifty-something dollars for nothing. Now we have to take him somewhere else to get his hair cut. This place is a joke. read more

This place is so good! Their hours work well with my schedule, which is nice. We have a geriatric beagle and only come to the Happy Dog Spa to get her nails trimmed and filed. They always make time for her and are so loving and gentle with her. Their calm and competent demeanor puts Sable at ease. I normally remind them that she's old and has bad "shoulders", and before she had surgery she had some lumps that still can be tender. The groomers always manage to pick her up without hurting her. They talk to her continuously, which eases our dog's nerves. We try to get our dog's nails trimmed every four weeks, so the groomers do know us a bit and Sable knows what to expect but she still gets nervous - moreso as she ages. They always treat us both with kindness and respect. SO grateful!!! read more

I'm very picky when it comes to groomers because my dog is very anxious and it's worse with strangers. He doesn't let me bathe him so I wasn't sure if he would let anyone else bathe him. I use to take him to the big chain groomers but with the high demand for grooming they didn't have time to really get to know him. When I took him to this establishment I was hopeful that they would be able to groom him and also get to know him to make him comfortable. Now he's very anxious with other dogs and they were able to accommodate him which is a big plus for me. They were able to bathe him, clip his nails, grind them down, and even brush his teeth (another thing he won't let me do.) I'm just so happy with this place and my heart fills with joy when I see my baby boy come running out in a bow tie or a bandana. This is the only place I'll take him and I highly recommend this place. They know what they're doing and they know how to care for your pet. read more

They smelled good and felt clean when I picked them up. I asked for their glands to be done and nails cut short and her glands were still smelly and full and her nails are still touching the ground when she walks. The staff is friendly but attention to detail is not high priority seems like. I'll be going back to my vets office for baths from now on. It's more expensive but at least I won't be having to fix it the next day what they didn't do and I paid extra for. read more

I dropped my yorkie off to be groomed last week (Corinth location) and she got cut at the point of needing 3 staples. I had a bad feeling when I dropped her off and wish I would have listened to it. She's 8 yrs old and I know her reaction when I tell her she is going to "get pretty". She had only seen one groomer where we used to live and was always excited to see her. This was her 3rd visit to Happy Dog Spa and talking to her on the way there she whimpered and once we walked in the door was even more vocal about not wanting to be there. She doesn't usually act like that, but I left her for her appointment. They told me it would take 3-4 hours. I happened to be driving by 3 hours into the appt so I decided to stop in since I hadn't heard from them yet. The groomer came out and showed me that she cut her abdomen. She told me dogs don't feel pain like we do and she probably didn't feel it and to just put liquid bandaid or super glue on it. It was hard to see how deep it was bc it had so much blood covering the wound. So I got home and got a closer look and saw how deep it was and took her straight to the vet where she got 3 staples. We took the vet bill in a few days later and they did cover the cost of the vet bill. read more
