Took my dog here to be groomed for the 5th time, when we picked her up they said she was too scared to do nail grinding so they didn't do it however they still charged me to do it(wtf). Then when I got home I realized my dog was favoring certain paws as if she was suddenly in pain which is when I noticed that during the grooming they had severely cut thru the quick on several of her nails which were now bleeding. All in all do not take your dog here for grooming and if you do be very observant when picking him or her up! I had to pay roughly $300 to take my dog to the vet all said and done to stop her infection on one of the claws. read more

I was sent a coupon for a free bag of Science Diet dog food, I came in and attempted to use the coupon. As I was checking out the coupon only took off a portion of my dogs food, they proceeded to take me through 3 steps of validation and when everything checked out that I was who I said I was (Checked my ID), the coupon was sent to my pets mart ID, and I pulled it up through my email all for the store manager it didn't work. Instead of overriding it in the system they told me that there was no way to verify that I wasn't a scammer (Yes I'm black). Periodically i feel the need to blow some money on my cats beyond the usual expenditures for food, litter, and tune-ups. I look at cat toys and catnip and feel joy at the thought of them writhing on the floor after getting stoned and then freaking out in the pursuit and conquering of a new toy. Petsmart has a great selection of cat stuff. Last time i purchase a long feathery boa on a stick and laser pointer for the cats' amusement. For my golden cat's ailing ears i purchased some naturally derived ear miticide. I almost adopted another cat there recently, a big handsome dude who was found roaming around empty lots. Man, that would've been another burden on the household i don't need right now, but i was SO TEMPTED. I filled out the application and everything. I'm glad the processing of that application takes a couple of days, because it gave me time to come to my senses. I'm better off to avoid looking at cats when i have to go to a place like Petsmart. It's just too tempting, almost impossible to resist. Anyway, this is a fine place, if a corporate chain, and i recommend you go there for pet needs. They also have an in-house veterinary and grooming service about which i've heard good things. read more

While it is a pet store and you are always in for sticker shock, I have always liked these stores. Add on the fact that theu stand by the products that they sell. I had a bag of puppy food opened and my vet wanted me to feed a different brand. They generously offered to give me store credit in order to buy the food I needed. Typical Petsmart. I stopped going here after finding Pet People. I didnt go there for such a long time until I realized its cheaper then Petsmart. Not to mention you can order your pets food fresh from the company. But this review is for Petsmart right? The doggy classes are helpful but not the best by far. Id like to believe we're getting past the hype of doggy training classes and realizeing theres a much easier way to train dogs that just makes more sense; of course Im taking about Ceasar Millan. All you really need is his book and save the time & money from going to these classes...they don't really work once you leave anyway. You need to train yourself before you can train your dog. Ive watched these classes before, so if youre the type of person you wants to know what theyre like here it is...theyre classes are mainly basic (sit, stay, come, down), and all they really teach you besides these basic commands are facts like "did you know that 10 years ago the most popular family dog was the Pitbull?? Yeah..the pitbul was bred to be a family dog before the poor people took them and made them fighting dogs...' and then everyone looks shocked and I just laugh. I have a pit so it wasnt really a shock to me. And things like "the most common family dog now is the bulldog (everyone thinks lab)" and then "did you know that the dog that bites people most often is the lab?" Again...shocked people, thinking it was the pitbull and me giggling in the corner. These classes are for ill-informed people who have NO experience with dogs and have NO idea what to expect when owning one for the first time. The trainers...well lets just say I have no idea where they went to school and I can honestly say they I knew way more then them. I'm not someone who generally brags but I could have done a much better job then that guy. The only class I would recommend the puppy class, and only to new puppy parents to help with the basics and potty training & the blessing of crate training! (which should NEVER be used as a punishment..only as their den). The food selection here is monstrous and really confusing unless you know what you're looking for. Please dont fall for the dog food adds & hype ..like the grain free or gluton free diets...its not natural for dogs to be on these diets. It's about your individual dog and what they need...not what your neighbor feeds their yorkie or what uncle billy feeds his blood hound. Your dog has their own unique needs so you wont be doing your lab any good by listening to anyone else's advice except for your vet. Tip...anything you find in a grocery store is crap and really unhealthy for pets. Also, more expensive doesnt mean better nor does it prove higher quality. Beware of words like 'holistic'....they mean nothing. Dog food companies will say anything to consumers in order for you to buy it! Whatever the food fad is now for people dog food companies will find a way to market that to your pets. Corn isnt horrible for dogs as long as its ground up so dont fall for those add's saying corn is bad either. It just shouldnt be the #1 ingredient...meat should be. I don't want to push any labels but I will explain myself by saying that I feed my dog Blue, not because of the media (or those annoying workers that stand in the isles trying to sell product) but because my dog does well on it. I feed her a wet/dry mix of wilderness duck and canned freedom; wilderness because it has the most meat, most vitamins & minerals, and most beneficial fruits & veggies and canned freedom because of flavor, moisture, meat content, and it has veggies that my dogs likes (sweat potatoes) without adding extra grain into her diet. SO yes, I feed my dog a partly grain free diet but not because of the media hype, but because when mixed with wilderness it creates a perfect mixture that is amazing for my dog. I honestly don't believe there is any dog food out there is a perfect for any dog...which is why I mix mine. And BOY does she LOVE it!!!!!! hahaha. I couldn't switch her food even if I wanted to. But enough of me going on and on about crap that doesn't matter. Petsmart is great for new pet parents as long as youre informed and know what youre looking for. Prices are only beaten by PetPeople (when doing a direct comparison); a can of Blue Buffalo free is $2.50 at Petsmart and $2.17 from PetPeople. Her 24lb bag of wilderness dry is $53.99 at both places. PetPeople has a better rewards program and sells me far more fresher foods too, making my husbands wallet much happier which is really all that matters in the end. read more

We adopted a dachshund mix from the shelter a few months ago, and have been searching for a regular groomer for her. She seems a bit skittish about grooming, so I took her to a couple more expensive salons hoping if I paid more she'd have a better experience. After a traumatizing cut, I ended up at PetSmart to give them a shot-and I'm so glad I did! Megan did a wonderful job taking care of my girl, and didn't push her too far past her comfort level while still making her look great. I will definitely be returning again and again. read more

Normally I'd go to a Jacks or Aquarium adventure for fish and fish supplies. But the guys here, especially Kyle, are great. They're knowledeable, friendly and honest. I have 3 fish tanks, one of which is 60 gallons. I'm pretty "into" fish and have no problem buying fish here. The tanks are usually clean and i havent seen any dead fish floating around like at other places. They have a bunch of brands as far as fish supplies go too. I also have two cats. Cat food and litter are usually on sale. Plus, this location has banfield. The staff is friendly and the vets really care. This petsmart really puts the animals first. The only reason I wasnt able to give it 5 stars is because the lines are usually long. read more

I have found great pet accessories here including outfits for my dogs to dress up for my wedding. The Banfield veterinary service is convenient and helpful. A few months ago I took my English Springer Spaniel Barkley in for his first non in home bath. ( We had a coupon and wanted to give it a try) I called before hand to make the appointment and ask a few questions. I was a little put off by the exchange with the groomer that answered the phone, she was not friendly and seemed to be rushing me and had an almost annoyed tone when I was asking questions. When we got there for our appointment we walked in and were immediately asked to go back out into the store as there was an older dog coming out and they didn't want Barkley in the way. Again a little off putting but I ignored it. We were assigned a groomer Paige who I actually really enjoyed, she was the best part of this experience and did a really great job with Barkley's bath and paw trim. She even stopped me on the way out because she saw me looking at brushes for him and showed me what the best options would be which I really appreciated. Besides the rudeness I received from the rest of the grooming staff the other thing that caused me to rate this experience a 2 star was the fact that it took 6 hours to complete the service. I was quoted 4 hours when I got there which I already felt was outrageous for just a bath and paw trim/nail trim. It was not even a full groom. I called after 4 hours to see how everything was going and yet again was greeted with rudeness, felt rushed and that my concern was a nuisance. I was informed that I would be contacted when he was finished. Two hours later I finally got a call that he was done. Needless to say I will not be returning for a full groom. Other than the fact that I really enjoyed Paige and she did a great job with him I was not satisfied overall with the grooming staff or the amount of time it took. read more

Wish all stores had a staff that was this helpful when coming in to shop! Myself and my pet red fox "Vixie" went in to get a name tag on the engraving machine, they not only sold me the tag, but helped me with the machine and placing the tag on her collar! While I was there I also got a scratching post for my cat "Bushy". The post was very well priced and what a deal! They helped me to the front of the store with it and even helped me load it into my car!! I would give them 6 stars if it was possible!! This is the worst place to have your dog groomed. My daughter took our Shih Tzu to be groomed and they hurt/traumatized her. She needed medical attention and had to be sent to their Easton office for veterinary care. The company paid for all of the services however, the incompetence and trauma my dog experienced is inexcusable. Please do not ever subject your pet to the inexperienced groomers at PetSmart. read more

I went to Petsmart to sign up for the Banfield Pet Program. What a mistake! I thought this would be a reputable wellness program for my adopted scottie. I agreed for them to deduct approx. $40. a month and after a yr. I felt it was not profitable and I opted out. Since they said I had been in for a visit a few days past the year mark, that I would have to pay for the next year before I could cancel. When explaining I had met my one yr. obligation, they refused to let me out of the program and kept calling to collect and ended up sending me to collection and reported on my credit report. Just a warning!!! Stay away. I feel so violated and now can never recommend anyone going near the store. To bad you cannot trust the "Petsmart" name or store. read more

For eleven months now I have been asking the Polaris Petsmart to carry a variety of Chanukah toys for dogs. Last year the store carried one tired loofah toy. On a monthly basis, I asked the managers to carry more Chanukah toys the next holiday season. Usually, their response was, "We only get what corporate sends us." I asked for the corporate number and emailed and called the office in Arizona. Unfortunately, I never received a response. Today when I shopped at Petsmart, the same tired loofah toy that they carried last year was the only Chanukah toy for dogs. On the other hand, they had so many different Christmas toys for dogs that I could not count them. I guess even Hobby Lobby does a better job of celebrating diversity than Petsmart does. read more

I always go to Petsmart for all my pets' things. I live in Cleveland, but then I was visiting family in Columbus and needed a few things for my dogs. When I was checking out, there was an older gentleman in front of me. As soon as he left and I came up, the employee (A younger man with blonde/brown hair) started talking into his little shirt microphone to the employee next to him about how bad the old man smelled and how annoyed he was that he was working. He went on and on about the customer RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. He didn't even say hello or anything. I will never return to this location if management is going to let their employees treat customers in that way. How horribly rude. read more

Grooming SUCKS. Took my Golden in b/c he needed groomed and I was short on time (around Thanksgiving 2014), even though I had read negative reviews. "How bad could it be?", I thought. They cage dried him because they claimed he was afraid of the dryer. I use the big dryers at Mutts & Co when I groom him myself with no problem. Not that big of a deal, but don't bullshit me. Worst thing was that where he was slightly (and I do mean slightly) matted behind his ears and under his front legs, whatever tool they used to remove the matting (I was told clippers, but don't believe it) left raw spots that actually bled and scabbed over later that day. Some of the groomers seem to truly enjoy being there. Others act as though you have inconvenienced them by bringing in an animal for them to groom. I'll never go there again. I'd rather lose four hours of my life grooming him myself than take him there again. read more
