I wanted to wait to write this until such time as we had multiple pets have multiple visits. This review is primarily for the purposes of grooming but I was appreciative for the friendly greeting I received each time I went in. Our dogs usually see Tara - she puts with our A-hole Maltese (inherited from my mother-in-law), as well as my mom's mixed breed fluff pup. She is awesome - does a great job, friendly and accommodating. I honestly cannot say enough great things about her or the job she does. I do want to mention that ALL the ladies (haven't seen any guys there yet) at the grooming salon are really nice and helpful. They even helped my poor mom to her car (with her dog) when she came in herself but couldn't handle her dog (or find her car...yikes). They were sweet and helped her out and I am EXTREMELY grateful. Groomers have a rough go - they deal with a lot of different people with different expectations and it's hard to meet some of those. But my experiences here have always been great and I highly recommend it. read more

My poor experience is specifically with the adoption coordinator at Citrus Heights Petsmart, Michelle Lee. My family and I just lost our dog to cancer and we weren't looking to adopt another pet, but happened by the cat adoptions at Petsmart while shopping for our other dog's food. We fell in love with a 2month old Scottish Fold named Artemis. We saw her once, went home to think about it, and then returned the next day to see she was still there. We inquired with the volunteer there, who told us to text the adoption coordinator, Michelle Lee. Michelle was very short over text, but encouraged us to put in an application. So we did. We still couldn't stop thinking of Artemis the next day, and we were getting more excited about what a good fit she'd be in our home. So we returned to the Petsmart to visit her. We met her foster mother, chatted, and learned more about her. The Foster mother was so lovely. She told us that adopting Artemis out had been "hard because of Michelle" then hushed as if she would get in trouble for saying even that much. Other volunteers also exchanged knowing glances. Nancy then reviewed our application, said there weren't any other suitable candidates, and encouraged us to text Michelle to set up an appointment to adopt Artemis the next day. Nancy also assured us that because our application was in, and that it was the only one, that Artemis would be on hold for us. They pulled her paperwork for us. We had every reason to believe she was on hold for us. We texted Michelle who did not respond for over an hour. So we went home. When she did text me back, she asked us to "go back adopt her." So we started to go back and then she started calling me, frantically, texting for me to answer the phone. I answered for a brief interview, answered her questions seemingly to her satisfaction, and she again, suggested she was fine with us adopting her, but she needed to call the volunteers at Citrus Heights. Ultimately she texted me back and said they would wait for a vet evaluation since she'd been sick recently and then "let me know." At no point did she indicate that we were not approved to adopt Artemis or that she would be going back on her decision for us to adopt her. The next day I sent a text asking how the vet appointment went and was ignored for two days. I sent another text and Michelle told me then that they were still deciding on a family and completely denied that she told me she was ours and to go adopt her. I pushed back and sent screenshots of our conversation and she just maintained that "there is a lot of interest" in Artemis and other volunteers "have no idea" what they're talking about. Two of my partner's decided then to visit the shelter and speak with Francie, the office manager, who I'm told was absolutely wonderful and compassionate. Shoutout to her, for being so lovely and kind. She'd arranged to have my partner's speak to Michelle in person to find out what exactly had happened. When Michelle arrived to the shelter an hour and a half past her designated shift time, she was apparently unable to be accountable and made several excuses for her behavior, including that she was over stressed and grieving a personal loss. She denied making statements she had made over text to me even when confronted with screenshots. Ultimately we learned that Michelle lied to us and had adopted Artemis out to another family. There was nothing that Francie could do to make things right. I do not recommend adopting from this agency at Citrus Heights, while Michelle is the adoptions coordinator. Please go instead directly to the shelter or to one of the other Petsmart/Petco Locations. You will be met with grief, as well as confusing, disorganized, discompassionate, behavior. read more

I will never take my little girl here again... I made her appointment for 9:20 and I walk in and I was immediately concerned because it did not look like any other PetSmart groomers I've been to in the past. This place was cramped, the check in was in the same room as grooming and it was filthy. The staff were not friendly and just immediately put on their leash and took her back without letting her adjust or get to know who was even taking her. I have never been to a groomer that doesn't greet the dog and establish trust first. Then, she says it'll be 3-4 hours because they're busy so she will be in a kennel which just didn't sit well with me. At that point I already said we were never going back. At 1:30 I get a call (so it's been over 4 hours at this point). The groomer calls and says that our pup is half done. She didn't like the blow dryer (which I warned them about. She just becomes deadweight and tries to hide because she's scared). But because she didn't like the blow dryer, she said they put her back in the kennel and let her air dry in there. My poor baby!!!! Then she said she'll go on her lunch break and hopefully she'll be dryer then she can finish! She's finally done at 2:30. I pick her up and oh my god it is the most botched hair cut I have ever seen. Random long hairs all over, her tail wasn't even touched. And I'm sure she didn't get water the whole time there either because she drank almost 2L of water when she got home. Our pup shows her anxiety by becoming deadweight and doesn't like to be touched by people she hasn't established trust with. I am stunned that this is an acceptable standard for PetSmart. I will never bring my baby back here. read more

This PetSmart location has steadily declined in customer service over the years but this was the final straw for me. Had a coupon for a discount on grooming and thought it would be a good way to check out the service so I could have a convenient backup established for when my usual groomer is booked up. From the moment I walked in with my golden retriever it was clear that although I had an appointment and there were only two other dogs there, the grumpy employees here didn't want to groom my dog. I was given attitude, and they made comments before I was even checked in with several reasons why the service might have to be cancelled. Seriously? There was really a bad vibe - like they had just argued amongst themselves before I walked in, and I should have just listened to my instinct and walked out. I unfortunately decided to go through with the service since I was already late for another appointment. An hour and 15 minutes later I was called to tell me that because my dog was drooling they wouldn't groom him and to come and get him NOW. I then found out he had been locked in a cage the moment I left without any part of the grooming process started at all. That is unacceptable stress to put on a pet. After being treated like this today, PetSmart just permanently lost a customer in me. It was a mistake coming here and one I will never repeat. I will drive out of my way to avoid this store and recommend you do the same if you care about your pets. read more

When I checked out this evening, I mentioned to the cashier that there was a sick parakeet in the cage, shivering, fluffed, and hunched on its perch. I said I think it was sick and he said they were just checked on and they are fine. I have raised birds all my life. I can recognize a sick bird when I see it. On sunday I checked for openin hours it said 8am so I went to store. A man went in before at 8am so I went in. I grabbed 3 small items and went to cashier, there was another person in line ahead of me. I hen i got to Cashier she informed me that they don't open til 10am. I told her That checked hours she said it's only for groomers. She allowed me to purchase my items and she asked for donation but was incredible rude about me even being there. As walked approached the door it was not automatically opening she hollered to me I had to open it myself much was very difficult, i am older and have arthritis but she made no attempt to help. The will never shop there again. She was rude and disrespectful. It would take only a minute to help me. I used to be a loyal customer but I wouldn't recommend that store to anyone. read more

Unfortunately do not take well care of there birds, and ignorant to the care of some birds. I went there today and spotted an albino tiel, i let them know she had a bit of feces on her beak, and no food in her bowls, she begun eating her feces. Immediately got bad looks, side eyes, and no further kindness with customer service :(. This shop has given me issues in the past selling me a sick conure as well. My experience with the cashier who is young was that she threw away my gift card that had a remaining balance still left on it. When I went immediately back to her to let her know that I think she still has the card she totally denied. It looked in. The garbage can said it wasn't anywhere and just kept helping customers I kept standing there and finally I said well I'll look in the garbage can and it was sitting right in the garbage can She could at least be honest and at least say she was sorry because that was pretty bad. It made me feel like I'm the one that lost the card or something. She never did apologize. It's pretty much stealing when you don't return the gift card to the customer when there's money still on it. Instead, she just chose to ignore me and make me feel like I wasn't in the right. Got up to the counter and already had my hands full, told the woman I needed to go grab a bag of prescription dog food real fast. She was very irritated and told me that I needed to have all of my items ready next time because she had a big line. I asked if I could apply discounts that I had on my app and she was very mad because it didn't match the number she had typed in and had to rescan my items. Just made me feel like I was unconvincing the entire store and I left feeling horrible. I unfortunately need to buy this prescription food to keep my dog alive but I really wish I could never come back here again. :( read more

This has now become my go-to shop to shop for our 6 year old Seal Point Ragdoll Kirara and I couldn't be more impressed with their quality, customer service and wide selection, including grain-free! Her favorite is the Tiki Cat grain free Chicken Craves and After Dark, it has fresh meat and high moisture to keep her hydrated! And of course treats, the Pure Bites are only 1 ingredient and completely grain free! I also buy the 40 lb Dr. Elsey's Veterinarian Recommend cat litter since it's hard clumping, low tracking, low cost and more natural ingredients! Anytime we move she always finds her box, especially if we get their Dr. Elsey's Cat Litter Attract! I would highly recommend shopping at this location, their rewards program is great, the staff are very sweet and helpful and they even host adoptions for adorable kitties and sell pets here too! This is my go to place to shop for my dog. I got nearly all of her puppy supplies here except her bed. I felt the beds here were a bit expensive, and found my puppy's bed at Marshall's. I also love the grooming service here, my puppy was still a little nervous but for her first in store grooming session ever the staff treated her very gently and took things slow. Jas was her groomer and explained how to properly trim her nails at home! My puppy came out squeaky clean! read more

I have adopted animals twice from this pet store. I bought a crested gecko last month which ended up being sick and dying so I got a new crested gecko from Petco which I still have and is very healthy. I recently gave them a second chance and got a bearded dragon and once again SICK! And possibly will die as well since I spent all my money on her set up and can't take her to the vet until I get paid. On top of that they keep 5 bearded dragons in 1 tank which they could kill each other same with the geckos and every other animal but apparently they can keep the hamsters separated but not reptiles. I have a sick kitty who's been having teeth issues since December and Taryn has been absolutely lovely. She helped me find food that wouldn't hurt his mouth. Every time I come in (which is way too often) when Taryn sees me she asks how my kitty is doing, and it means the world. Went looking for some fish and supplies. Found dead fish in EVERY TANK. One tank had more dead fish then alive. No care what so ever for the fish in these tanks. Will NOT get any fish from here even if I was gunna use them to feed my bigger animals. Only person was the cashier that couldn't leave her station. If I could give a negative review I would. Today I witnessed the store lead not able to do her job and had a CHILD climbing up a ladder to do her job!!!! Another customer was going to video what she had the child doing and told him "there's NO recording in here". Knowing she would have been caught, with her face on camera, not preforming her job. This place has gotten worse the last 2-3 months. They obviously need someone in her that can run a store. Shouldn't be too hard with only 2 people that actually are working. read more

Made AN APPOINTMENT FOR 10 am to have my sister's dog groomed. We ARRIVED 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO OUR APPOINTMENT. Apparently we were assigned to Jas C. for the grooming but they couldn't be bothered to show up. The gal that was working tried to tell us that our appointment was for 10:30 but she was wrong and even then they didn't have the staff to handle us then because the other employees chose not to show up either. I guess they can just text it in these days and choose not to work and honor commitments. Meanwhile I stressed a poor old dog out that was in desperate need of a bath and toe nail trim dragging her down here for NO REASON! The staff were rude and uncaring. This was one of the worst experiences I have had. I have other pets but I sure won't shop here ever and certainly no grooming. You want a picture? Audrina, the dog trainer, is the best!!!! She is very observant and aware of all of the dogs and their owners, providing the best service possible. She has a true, natural love for dogs, which is totally evident. She cares as much about your dog as if it were her own, and will go above and beyond to make sure that your dog as well as you are comfortable and cared for. She is amazing! I could go on and on, but will stop at saying that I'd it were not for Audrey, we would probably not have followed through with our beginning dog class. We just started intermediate with a different trainer, and she was there at our first class to introduce my dog to the new trainer. Her thoughtfulness, service and integrity are what makes a place like Petsmart great. She has inspired me to only use Petsmart, and I love it. Thank you. read more

Do not let Chelsea from the pet grooming touch your dog. I wouldn't trust her at all with my pet. From the moment I walked in her customer service was horrible, super rude and said she was busy doing something and wasn't able to call the vet for an updated rabies. Totally fine so I call while I'm on hold with the vet..she is just sitting there staring at me. She obviously wasn't busy just too lazy. It's time to take my boy dog back who is super scared she puts the leash on his neck and leg and starts dragging him . He doesn't wants to move. I told her she needed to carry him but she said it was store policy he needed to walk. She continued to keep pulling him and dragging him, I finally grabbed by dog and said I wasn't going to allow him to be dragged: I picked up my dog and left. I would never trust Chelsea to trim my dogs nails let alone take him in the back with her. I WILL NEVER GO BACk THERE AGAIN. People please be aware and look out for your pets. read more

I took a class for my dog and was so pleased with the training I had to mention it. The training was done in a way that when I was done with the class I felt like I truly had the knowledge I needed to train my dog. I've taken many classes before and my dog learned a lot but in this class I learned, Thank you John for your patience with my dog that was so afraid of people and other dogs. Pretty disappointed in the fresh fish display as well as the knowledge and customer service provided by their reps and manager. I went into the store at 6:15pm on a Tuesday to purchase a gold Inca freshwater snail for my tank. Multiple tanks had dead fish in them. Every snail was deceased and just laying on the bottom of the tank. In another tank there was a snail dining on a dead fish on the bottom of the tank. Both the cheek, and the MANAGER, stated that they had just received their fish shipment and they 'probably came like that'. Are you kidding me? So you leave the dead ones in there? As shown in my pictures, those snails have been dead for a long time. One shell is almost worn completely from being in the water for so long. I informed he manager that I had taken pictures and would be sending them to corporate. The manager asked for my name as I was leaving the store. Not sure why that even matters. I will never buy anything from ANY PetSmart again. Boo. read more
