I submitted an online order and then quickly realized I couldn't wait, I would be better off just going to pick up my items for purchase. I called and not wanting to be THAT annoying customer who expected their items pronto, told the employee I can just go to the store and pick out the items. However, he said no worries! And he proceeded to look up my order and said they'd have it ready soon for pick up. What excellent service. His name was Francis. Unfortunately, they were out of the size of cat food I needed, but he helped me find a smaller size. My dog, Buster, has been getting his nails trimmed here for over a decade. He has had a heart murmur for his whole life, he is 15. Had an appointment for today. The groomer called me yesterday and inquired if he was on medication for his condition. I informed her that he was not. She said it was ok to bring him in for his appointment. Imagine my surprise, when I'm told they now will not trim his nails. What was the point of the phone call? Thank you petco for wasting my time I've always tipped the groomers 100%, now, I will no longer waste my time at this establishment. read more

Came in here with my service dog and the manager was dismissive and uneducated in service dog laws. I told him what the ADA states and he was still not having it/eyeing us the whole time. For reference: All they can legally do is ask if the dog is a service dog and what the service dog does. They only time they can ask you to do something else is if the dog if out of control or a danger. (Which mine was not.) Have never had a problem until today so I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully they take this time to learn because not every service dog team is going to be comfortable speaking up. :/ read more

The groomers at this Petco really do a great job with our dog. She gets nervous and hates having her paws touched but they are patient and manage to get her nails trimmed and buffed nicely every time!! I feel bad that I don't remember the groomer's name that worked on her last time but I will try and update this post. read more

My favorite Petco! This location is the largest I've seen. Great selection of items for all animal types. The dog section has a good variety of toys and accessories depending on the holiday. The hamster and small animal section is also much much better than other pet stores I've been to in the area. Lots of toys and accessories to choose from for small animals! The employees here having always been super friendly! They always ask if you need help finding anything and answer any questions I have when looking for something specific. I can't say enough about grooming at this location. As usual I had a very happy experience this morning. Clayton, the manager, and his assistant went above and beyond to help me out. They have cared for three of my Min Pins, and always go the extra measure with my very nervous dog. Went in to buy a fish here today 12/20. We have some tanks from previous fish and went in specifically for a glo fish. I was grabbing my supplies, rocks, food, a little statue and then walked over to ask for assistance getting a fish she gave me hella attitude. After asking a few times for the fish and her consistently denying me I told her that it was okay, I'll just grab a betta. She then proceeded to follow me around the aquatic animal aisle and harassed me about fish. I left with nothing. So disappointed in this location. Really sad for just moving to this area and this is my local store. Safe to say that we will be canceling our loyalty card and taking our business elsewhere read more

Got my puppy groomed here. The employees are helpful and extremely understanding. This was the first time my puppy was ever getting a haircut, so they were patient with his experience. They let me know that the haircut would last an hour to three hours depending on the puppy and how comfortable he is. I really appreciated that. Store Layout: Overall, the layout is organized, clean, and bright. This is probably one of my favorite Petco's to go since it's so easy to find everything. It's never busy, and I really love their selection here. The aisles are ginormous. There's so much space for you and your puppy to walk around here. I love it! Overall, I would come back here if it were a little closer to my house. I came here to get my puppy groomed because it was an emergency. If I'm ever in this area, I'll be sure to stop by! read more

Had an amazing groomer who left which I cant blame her. After she left had an appointment for middle of December. Petco called and said they had to cancel appointment and pushed grooming to 3rd week of January. Showed up to appointment to be told groomer/manager called in sick. Manager called next day and told us the soonest appointment was end of February. I asked for discount on grooming and was told they cant do it as everyone is in the situation of being short staffed. They are right but most businesses would make it right when screwing over a customer multiple times. Six years. Grooming every two months for two dogs with tip. 2k a year. They dont care. Another review for PetCo but this is the one in Fair Oaks. Ladies in the front were very nice and helpful. Store is packed with pet products and everything neatly stacked. The only thing this store doesn't have is fish, birds or rodents, but that's ok because I only buy bunny food. On this visit we bought grass for the rabbits and it was on sale from $10.50 down to $6.99 (great price). Excellent service at this Petco and definitely 5 stars from me. I've come in several times and I'll summarize each trip in the following: First visit-got super worms and all of them were dead in the container, so luckily I looked and had to check through several on the shelf just to find living ones. Second visit-a couple weeks later, same thing: mostly all their super worms were dead. Third visit-should have just given up coming here after the first two times, but on the third visit they were out of super worms, and had one cricket container left. Thought I would change it up and get some fish. After standing in the fish area for a few minutes, an employee came by and helped the people next to us, then for the next 9minutes wouldn't make eye contact or even acknowledge us to where I could ask for help. She just kept talking away to the other person. Finally, after she was done helping the family, she just walked away. When I told the cashier, she didn't even really respond or offer to help. They have cool stuff, but won't help you buy it. read more

My local PetCo has *the best* groomers. (I might be biased, but it's true.) I would not trust my babies to anyone else. Clayton and Guadalupe are marvels, although everyone working there is amazing. My elderly Shepherd would not let *anyone* cut his nails, even the vet. But Clayton spent so much extra time to make him feel comfortable that he became the only one Mikey trusted. I am a foster mom for hospice German Shepherd rescues and the staff here put extra love into every dog I bring to them. I cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond. Customer service here fromm everyone is always great! I did 6 weeks off training here with my malitpoo and Zack was AMAZING! He really knows what he's doing. My puppy learned sit, down, stay, walking on leash, and potty training. When she got old enough he suggested i take her to the groomers there, said to request Stephanie. She was AMAZING as well. It was my pups first time so I was really nervous but she reassured me that everything would be fine and any issues she'd call me. + she really listened to everything I wanted as far as the cut went. Less than an hour and a half later she did a complete makeover on her. She looked and smelt soooo good. & my puppy was so happy. I will definitely continue to do any/all services here. read more

Today I came in looking for suggestions for my senior dog who needs to gain weight but is grain free and picky! Eric (dog trainer) went above and beyond to find several different solutions for me. He made sure I knew that Petco had a return policy in my pup didn't like the new food. He also recommended the new wellness program and how it might benefit my fur baby and my wallet. Petco is not the cheapest option in pet supplies. I actually worked for Petco while I was in college (yeah, yeah...we sold pet dinosaurs back then...har har..) , and they trained the CRAP out of us...it seems that some of employees still get it, but some...I don't know if they have any freaking clue what they are doing. Most fall somewhere in the middle, but are willing to ask someone else for you if they don't know the answer. They have started carrying more of the "ultra premium" brands of food than back my day, which is great. The two things I like about this locations are: 1. The dog wash station. For $12 we can take our beast in to wash her in a tub about waist height. The shampoo, brushes, towels, air dryer and cleanup are included. Just make sure to bring your rabies vaccine records with you! 2. The Rawhide Bar. Mix and match a bag of rawhide chews to keep your pup interested! read more

Visited this local gem to purchase some needed supplies for a new puppy. While filling my cart this lady keeps walking around rudely telling people we need to leave because they're closing soon. I acknowledged her and said I'd be up to check out in a couple minutes. Again, she comes around letting everyone know they need to close and everyone needs to get out. So... I understand you have a set closing time, but if I'm there to buy things in your store, why are you pushing me out? I spent $600 that night only to feel I should have spent it elsewhere. Last time I checked PetCo is a 'for profit' company and also a business based on customer service? That night I didn't see either of those things when trying to spend money there. I get you close at 7pm, so don't let others in, but the people in the store should be able to shop. I work in restaurants, if you show up to eat 20 min before we close, guess what? You get to eat your entire meal, we don't just kick you out as the clock strikes closing time. Just food for thought. I like this store. The staff is helpful, and knowledgeable! I met one employee who gave me good recommendations on cat food for my senior cat with a sensitive stomach.
