I am very disappointed and will never shop here again. I like shopping local for food when I can for my dogs and cats but it is more expensive but I was willing to do it because they had a promotion if you bought 12 bags of food, you got one free after careful keeping track of my bag of food to make sure I could get the free one when I went in after buying 11 bags to buy 12 and get one for free. They didn't honor the deal and they said that some of them were expired. This is not ok!! Pretty shitty to let you buy all that food and not honor their own promotion guess I will just go back to buying online but it's too bad that my business wasn't worth honoring their own deal. read more

Well not only do they have everything I could ever want or need to wash my black Aussie mix, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They keep the bathing stations really nice and clean and have an assortment of different types of brushes Combs clippers along with an assortment of really great grooming products... There are 5 self serve dog baths available and at only $17 you're provided combs, shampoo, conditioner, towels, aprons, and a clean and efficient space to bathe your pup. Staff is super helpful and even has treats available if your doggo needs a lil pick me up during the service. read more

Went here to give my pupper a bath. It was quick, convenient, easy, there's no time limit, and it's cheaper than typical groomers! My pup loves water but hates bathtime and usually tries to escape and soaks everything in his path. He's also very picky about his groomers so dropping him off with professionals is a challenge. We go to Sbarkles for many different reasons. We have a 12 year old lab whose mobility is getting worse. We take him there to bathe him. We are able to get him up the ramp and in he tub. So easy! Today I brought my 4 year old doodle in because they had a vet on site, Dental Monkey, and they do cleanings every last Wednesday of the month! What a great experience! Appt was at 12:30. Brought him in at 12:20. Completed a tiny bit of paperwork and they took him in! 45 minutes later he was done with a pearly white smile! No anesthesia used! Quick and easy! Our vet insisted he had gingivitis and they, of course, wanted to knock him out to do that. Well this was so much easier and way less expensive. He just had a little tartar build up! Our Neighbor told us about Sbarkles and we decided to check it out today. After all it was my dogs birthday and it was time for a new dog toy and a treat or two. I've walked past this place so many times and never checked it out. Turned out to be a nice place. There were so many healthy dog treats and I noticed quite a nice selection of dog food. And best of all a nice selection of dog toys. Nice place to buy gifts for my dog loving friends. The owners were attentive and personable and gave our little birthday dog a nice treat. So I go into the store to check it out. Seems like a nice place. They ask if I need any help, I said yes, I was looking for a certain brand of dog food, when I told them the Brand and that I usually get it in Orangevale at the feed store, I was told it was a lower quality product. They did everything they could to switch me. I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about this joint. Thus, I left with no food in hand. The woman who helped me was so sweet! I was able to come in around 6:10PM to use the self-serve dog wash. I have a 58lb puppy, so I called ahead of time to see what is the latest time that I can come in to use this service. She was so nice over the phone and was even nicer in person, we felt very welcomed and not rushed at all. They had 4 different shampoos to chose from, a blow dryer, many different combs/brushes, and the woman even brought me extra towels and a conditioner! All of that for just $15! It's understandable that they want you to arrive by a certain time in order to use the self-serve dog wash. You need to keep in mind that they need to clean up afterwards, so arriving close to their closing time is rude on your behalf. I will definitely be returning here! read more

I was washing my medium sized dog, had her tethered on a short leash in the tub, when another customer brought his large German shepherd up to my tub. The dogs went at it. I got bitten. I was very upset, bleeding and left in a hurry. One of the employees came out to my car bc I left her collars behind. He suggested I come in a wash my wounds and make sure the German shepherd had rabies vaccination. I told him that he should keep other customers' dogs away from the tub when someone is washing their pet. He was rude as he defended the event that he did not witness. The owner was incompetent too. This is a wonderful little boutique pet store and dog wash. They have a ton of great little dog products, a wide variety of dog chews and bones and an impressive selection of high-quality dog food. I took my dog here for the first time for a bath. I had been taking my dog to groomers before but she always seemed terrified and a little traumatized when I picked her up so I decided to start washing her myself. I've been exploring different self-service dog washing places around the Sacramento area and tried this one out at the recommendation of a friend. The store is very clean and well organized. The staff were very friendly and showed me how to use the bath setup and where everything was. I thought the self-service dog setup was great. They have ramps to get the dogs up and a nice elevated bathtub for washing. They had plenty of combs, brushes, towels and cotton balls (for the ears). They also had 4 different types of shampoo and conditioner. A big blowdryer was also provided. I looked at yelp reviews for this place before coming in and I have to say I'm a little dismayed at the negative reviews saying the wash is too expensive. It's $15 for a wash. That's reasonable. This is a locally-owned small business, they have to pay rent, pay for water, shampoo and conditioner, cotton, they pay to launder all the towels, electricity, etc. etc. There are hardly any small businesses like these left these days, I am much happier giving my money to a place like this over a big-box like PetsMart or Petco. I don't think $15 is a lot to pay considering all that is provided. Support your local businesses people! I think they also will wash your dog for you if you don't want to go the do-it-yourself route. Overall, great little place. I will go back. read more

Writing this review after my 2nd dog wash. Because my yellow lab goes crazy in any store especially one with dog treats, I left him in the car to pay first. I told the friendly lady that it was stressful bringing my dog, but I'm hoping after a few more times, he'll calm down. The nice employee was very kind and thoughtful bringing us conditioner and reviewing how to use the wash. I went in to use their self-service dog wash. I called ahead of time to make sure that it would be open, and the staff seemed really friendly on the phone. This made my decision about where to take my pit who *hates* baths a lot easier. More on that below. The staff was really helpful in showing me how to use the station as I'd never used one before. Well, when my 70+lb baby wisened up and realized where he was and what was about to happen, he planted himself flat on the ground and refused to comply, even for treats. The staff saw what was happening and graciously helped me get him into the tub (they did most of the work tbh for which I'm very grateful!). I'd absolutely come here again if I'm ever in the area :) read more

I went to Sbarkles this morning to pick up some raw food for my dog. I have been here before and liked it ( I had only stopped in for the self service dog wash in the past). This time, I was greeted by the owner and had no idea I was in for such a great experience. We talked about the benefits and importance of feeding raw, and he was the most kind and down to earth owner I have had the pleasure of doing business with. He has a true passion for animals and is well informed of animal health and education. Along with that, he went above and beyond to provide genuine and excellent customer service. I'm very happy to say I will be making this my new place to get all of my fur baby's food and supplies. We've taken our dog here a few times . Always so welcoming when you first walk in. They have EVERYTHING you could imagine to give your dog a bath and they explain things so nicely. There dog food selection and treats selection is out of this world. Today we took our goldendoodle and again it was a warm and friendly environment. The set up makes everything seamless. You can, indeed, wash your dog in the finest fashion, without having to do 2 laundry loads of wet, dog-haired clothes, rags and towels. They have everything you need and it's clean, clean clean. I buy all of our food here. Well, some food i buy next door at Trader Joe's. I buy all the food here for our dog. It's healthy and I trust the recommendations I get. I am not the kind of pet owner that wants to feed my dog that stuff on the shelves at my grocery store. While it may be fine for some, I don't trust the larger manufactures of pet food to put a healthy recipe together that has my pet in mind in addition to looking after maximum profit. And, the big box pet chains are horribly overpriced. The selection of other stuff for your pet to play with and chew on blows away everywhere else you'll try. It's quality stuff.
