Before my wife and I found Desiree's Cloud 9 K-9 Dog Training, we were at the end of our rope, facing the reality that our beloved dog Appa may not be a part of our future because of his severe reactivity. We had been to a very well-regarded board and train facility that turned him away within the first hour of what was supposed to be a day-long assessment because of the aggression he was displaying toward their staff. Although Appa showed my wife and I nothing but love and affection, any outsider was perceived as a threat because we were unable to properly socialize him to other people because he was born during the first few months of the pandemic in 2020. Appa's behavior was preventing us from having our friends and family over and making us question whether or not it would be safe for us to have children. After 3 weeks with Desiree in Davis, however, Appa was a new dog and our lives have vastly improved ever since. Appa is not a food-motivated dog, so my wife and I struggled to train him as a puppy because we didn't know how to train a dog who didn't want treats successfully. My girlfriend and I came to Desiree with an unusually difficult dog (Bailey) who was aggressive towards my girlfriend (her primary owner) and some strangers. Before we even began the training, Desiree had multiple long phone conversations with us about what we could expect from the training and gave us several referrals (who all took our calls and sang Desiree's praises). Desiree also checked in on us frequently via text to see how things were going, and repeatedly offered (and did) come out to our house for visits beyond the scope of the original agreement. Desire did all these things because she wanted the best result possible with Bailey, and it showed. Third, Desiree is a consummate professional who provides a high-level of service to her clients. Not only does Desiree generally provide more than what we originally anticipated, but she also is super responsive and always available. Any issue we had, Desire would respond via text almost immediately, offering extensive advice and videos demonstrating techniques we should implement. This also goes for her client-only boarding she provides, which has been a godsend for a more difficult dog like Bailey. At bottom, Desiree and her behavioral dog-training service was 100% worth it. I've had my dog back from Cloud 9 and Desiree for two months and our life together has been changed for the better. I'm a first time dog owner and didn't know what to do when my dog was reactive to strangers - barking, nipping, growling. Before I gave him to Desiree for her 3 week board and train he needed to be a leash on the house, and introducing him to guests was near impossible. We were both stressed and it felt impossible to train. Desiree gave me the foundation and communication system to work with my dog, and then worked with me to make sure the transition from her to me was as seamless as possible. I did her three week board and train and then she brought my dog back to me and worked with me for half a day to teach me his new lifestyle. I live 1.5 hours away from her, and she came over no less than 5 times in the first three weeks I had my dog back, and texted or called often to answer questions. I'm now confident in myself in managing my dog, and have been able to introduce him to new people, places, and things that I thought would be impossible for us.
