I had a family emergency a few months back and had to find a place for my new puppy for a week. I called and called everywhere within 70 miles of me. No one care about my last-minute situation...until I called Happy Paws. While they couldn't get my dog in last minute, they listened to my problem and tried to help out any way they could. Fast forward a month to a family vacation...I booked with Happy Paws (45 miles from my house) because they were so helpful and actually cared. Not only is there location PERFECT, my dog, Bo, LOVES IT there. I think he is actually sad when he comes home. Since then, he has stayed at least 3 more times and has a whole bunch more booked. I was so impressed with Happy Paws Kennels! Sooooo clean and such a professionally run outfit! Employees were friendly, kind, and attentive. This was the first time my dog had ever been boarded and he has (as a rescue dog), a lot of fear-based aggression. I typically bring my dogs to Waghotels in West Sac for boarding but they did not have room which left me scrambling to find a new place. After a google search, I found Happy Paws Kennels in Dixon. PAWSITIVES: 1) They are much closer to me. 2) since I fed my dogs the Costco Salmon food, I did not have to give them anything, they fed from their own supply. 3) They were booked into an business class kennel (30 sq ft on the inside) where the inside is a temperature controlled room with an additional 60 sq ft of outside access 4) They had their own bedding, did not have to pay anything extra for it or blankets. 5) ALL of this and the total cost was UNDER $350 for 4 full nights with a 10am pick up on the 5th day. 6) They upload pictures of your little nuggets from their stay. 7) Their website is actually easy to navigate after you log in. You can upload updated vaccine information, see if any of the require vaccines are expiring, update any of your pet information, add a profile pic of your dogs, you can even pay them online. Our family loves Happy Paws! They always have space available when we need them and their prices are very reasonable. They even offer a military discount. Our pup is a big boy at 80 lb of pure energy. He's a shepherd mix and comes home pooped from all the exercise they give him in their big, spacious run. They also upload pics once in awhile so we can be sure he's having a good time during his stay. Their facility is clean and well kept. We recommend opting for the bath on pick up day. Our pup always smells great and his fur is soo soft when we pick him up. He even gets a cute little bandana. Happy Paws is awesome! read more

Best experience! I loved getting photos of my pups playing and having fun. My pups came home clean and even their bedding made it home and it was LAUNDERED! I can't say enough about the friendly, accommodating staff who genuinely care about animals. They played with my pups, gave them treats and administered meds. As usual with dropping off a pet at a boarder, I was hesitant but Happy Paws had great reviews so I decided to try it. When calling, they were extremely kind, patient, and helpful with any and all questions I had. I was traveling in the area but couldn't have my dog at night so they allowed me to take her out in the daytime for play and then return her during their pickup and drop off hours. They even offered bathing before returning her to me. She was soft, fluffy, and even got a bandana! I loved it. I will use them again in the future if I'm in the area!! I love Happy Paws! My dog loves Happy Paws Kennel. This place is just what My dog needed. It's safe and clean environment and they have a great play area. My shepherd is 19 months old and has a lot of energy. Here she gets to play with other dogs her size and swim in the swimming pool. Sometimes she just runs in through the sprinklers. Nicole one oof the women that work there sent me pictures of Willow (my pup) in the kiddie pool just relaxing. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. They come out when you arrive wearing masks and take the dog to her kennel. after they get settled its play time!! I will start by saying I have elderly dogs and was very specific on this point when I used this kennel They were an uncomfortable alternative to my usual kennel that is absolutely the best but had a waiting list during the holiday I am very concerned about the condition my dogs were in when I picked them up Their beds were soaking wet and filthy My min dachshund was shaking and disoriented and both dogs have diarrhea That really pisses me off since I brought their food I also brought a bag of treats neither of which was returned to me and yet there should have been extra My other kennel always returns the unused supplies The huge red flag should be they will not let you into the kennel area I'm sure I can imagine the condition by how bad my dogs and their bedding stinks They have been completely wiped out and sleeping since I picked them up. We needed to board our four (spoiled) dogs for the first time when the whole family went to Disneyland in October. My sister (who used to work at kennels and groomers) selected this place and I'm glad she did! Everyone was super nice, our dogs were happy and healthy when we got home. Having the fires again this year reminded us of what great service we received here last year when we evacuated from the fires in Santa Rosa. We received excellent service on a couple hours notice and were not even charged. We were worried that this years fire might have impacted them but they are safe and still helping many others that had to evacuate. Super nice and caring people. Recommend. I had the amazing opportunity to deal with a young lady Palomar who was great!! First of all I take my dogs and hairless cat to them anytime I have work trip. They are amazing and treat the guests like their own. But back to the young lady who helped me today. My dog half pit got out she is a sweetheart but may be intimidating to some. Long story short I was asked to produce shot records from 2 years Ago and she did it in 5 min. Our almost 2 year old German Shepherd has been coming to Happy Paws almost 1 year now. We are frequent travelers and Uschi stays here often. From overnight to 3 weeks - and she comes home every time happy loved and well cared for! The staff and owners are all amazing and love my dog! They are very accommodating at fitting us in last minute and extending dates when we've had family emergency! It's nice to hear how much your dog is loved. We just picked up our dogs today. Not only were they filthy dirty and smelly, but my 16 month old German Shepherd bitch came back 8 pounds lighter then she arrived. Since they smelt so bad we brought them to the groomer. All over my bitch's legs urine came off, leading me to the conclusion that she was living in her own feces. Her coat condition was awful, and being a performance dog keeping her coat in top condition is my priority, but clearly not theirs. My bitch also has sores on her paws and hocks, from who knows what. They've picked up bad habits while they stayed there, such as now my bitch is barking at other dogs. She is also pulling, nothing a little extra training can't solve.. But I mean who wants to progress backwards in training? Not only that, but I brought a bag of my dogs' expensive toys, including a Kong. They said they can't find them, they're "lost". That is 40 dollars or MORE down the drain. As a person who shows dogs in conformation and obedience I can say that my dogs were not taken care of properly, and we will not be going back. read more

My recommendation for boarding is Happy Paws hands down! We have been extremely pleased with this facility. 10 acres of lovely property in Dixon, so always a lot going on and the dogs are never bored with all the sights and sounds. The spaces have heat and A/C, and Happy Paws goes above and beyond with sanitation processes. We researched thoroughly, and visited on a Sunday unannounced. We were welcomed and given a tour. We were impressed by the fact that the staff knew every dog, their personalities, their needs, and even the cars of their owners when they drop them off! We don't board our other dogs (we raise service dogs), so we were ultra-cautious with our search as we need a safe and fun place for our pet dog at times. The staff knew we were nervous our first time there, so they sent tons of photos. Our pup rockets out of the car at drop-off and never looks back! If your dog has medical needs, this is not a problem. The staff is dedicated, compassionate, professional, and truly takes ownership of their four-legged clients while they are there.
