You want someone who your dog feels is a part of your family. Laureen of Wag A Doodle is that person. I found her because of the other yelp reviews and was shocked by her prices. She came for an orientation the same day I called. She talked through our concerns, went on a walk with our Shepherd mix who had issues pulling, and set up a schedule for the next week. By the next day, I had a copy of her insurance forms. It's been a month and we haven't looked back. Laureen is there when we need her at a moments notice. When my husband's car broke down, she was at our house to walk Grace. When we went on vacation, she took Grace to her home so our dog wouldn't feel left alone. She has helped train our old girl to stop pulling while on a walk and even sends videos and pictures of them playing! We love Laureen!

Vader (our pup) was a quick learner and we started the structure at home, but we wanted to help him out with extra training. So we reached out to Prestige K9, and the response was very quick and the phone call to discuss what we wanted out of training was refreshing. We had him boarded over Christmas and new years, even with the holidays the results show - Vader is very attentive, listens to his commands, and is still the fun field lab we dropped off! All of our friends and family are impressed, and we are now those dog owners where people ask "how did you do that" - prestige did it! Do note you still have to keep doing the stuff at home in your routine, but we are very impressed and I would like to note Javier and especially Ally for how well they worked with Vader. We did our first follow up with ally and she is great, she brought out her dog to help Vader train with distractions and they got to play a little. This is where you want to take your dog people! We couldn't take him in public. When we'd have to take him to the vet, he would pull so hard (90 lb pitbull/ American bull dog, so he pulls HARD) that he would choke himself and make my hand hurt from holding the leash, and he would SCREAM/ bark/ cry when we wouldn't let him go up to people and dogs. He wouldn't tire out. He would do that the entire time. It was stressful as all heck when we'd have people over to our house. He would jump all over people, knock over small kids, non stop licking people, etc for about 15-20 min before calming down. If we kept him crated when people were over, he'd scream the entire time (I'm talking HOURS). It was extremely stressful. We did the 2 week board and train program with Christina. I'll be honest, because his issues seemed more like personality issues rather than not knowing commands, etc. I was a little nervous that our biggest concerns wouldn't be fixed. Him sitting, laying down, walking on heel, etc would be nice and all, but really what we needed was for him to be able to CALM DOWN around people. Lucky for us, we got the best of both worlds! My husband and I are blown away by the change in our boy. It's truly day and night. We picked him just one week ago. Yesterday I took him to the local Farmer's Market. He walked at a heel the whole time, not pulling toward any of the other people or dogs. We also spent multiple minutes at a time in a "sit" or "down" position just watching. This used to be a scenario where he'd be going crazy trying to get to everyone, but he remained calm for the whole 45 ish minutes we were there. Shortly after that, we had 2 new-to-Wesley friends come over to our house. I placed him on his cot before they came in the door. He jumped up once, but after I placed him back on it, he remained there and didn't move until I allowed him too. I thought for sure after I let him off, he'd run over and jump on his new friends. But nope! He walked over and let them pet him, but remained calm with all four feet on the floor and didn't lick them like crazy. He spend most of the afternoon just laying near us but not demanding attention like usual. He even stayed by himself quietly inside, while we were in the backyard (another first, he always wants to be where the people are) A total transformation!! Not having him for 2 weeks was definitely tough but Christina sent us multiple pictures and videos every single day, letting us know how he was doing and just showing us his cute face. She was quick to answer every question. You can truly tell how much she loves dogs and what she does. When we picked him up, we spent about 2 hours where Christina taught up how to use the e collar and worked on some training with us and Wesley together. The only thing I'm disappointed in with this training is not doing it sooner. I am in awe of what my boy learned at almost 6 years old and I truly cannot recommend Christina enough. It's been over three months and I can officially say, she has become our best trained dog ever! I am so glad I made the decision. I have never experienced ongoing training that includes classes throughout the week on a flexible schedule. Because of this flexibility, training has easily become part of our routine (we go about 3 times per week). She was able to figure out a way to get through to them and help me learn how to manage two different personalities, ages (senior & an 8yr old) with one having limited abilities and the other running/jumping/hyper. Issue 1) walking them.. sadie the eight-year-old was very energetic and wanted to run or walk very fast. She tended to pull a lot. Sansa The senior, 12-year-old girl walked slowly and very close to me to where I would keep tripping over her so I needed her to learn space. Kristen admittedly said this was difficult to have two very differing dogs and one person walking both of them especially since I have physical limitations myself with struggling from fibromyalgia. She set up an appointment for us to go to A walking trail and worked with us on that, and additionally another issue Sadie was having. Issue 2) when I would take Sansa and Sadie for walks on the trails that were busy Sadie would often bark and spin in circles when a bike would ride past us. I wanted help with this behavior. Kristen was able to find a way to help subdue her reaction. Issue 3) One of the people we live with is very obnoxious and the dogs bark at him every time he enters the room. They don't do this with any other person. I asked her to come to my home to evaluate the situation. She nailed it right on the head what the problem was. She spoke with this person to give him insight into how his behavior was affecting the dogs. Her ability to get through to not only the dogs, but people as well is amazing! He actually heard her! He is a very difficult person to talk to so I was impressed! She also helped trained us to not reward them when they barked at him (which I didn't realize I was doing by letting them stay on the couch & petting them.) I thought I was calming them, but she pointed out it's rewarding what they're doing. So now I get them off the couch when they bark & treat them when they don't. This helped quite a bit. Not only is she knowledgeable but she is very upbeat and positive. She is very sweet and takes her time with you and the dogs. I highly recommend her and we would hire her again! Back in July 2022, my husband and I decided to adopt a 9-month-old American Staffordshire Terrier from the SPCA. This poor guy was malnourished, neglected, and, we assume, abused. Despite his difficult past, he remained the sweetest and most endearing pup you could ever meet. However, due to being confined to a kennel for most of his early life, he lacked impulse control, had no understanding of proper dog manners, and became easily overwhelmed by the mere act of being outside. After encountering numerous false starts with trainers who lacked confidence, insisted on weeks of teaching him his new name (which he already knew along with a few basic commands), or relied heavily on negative reinforcement, we were starting to lose hope. Fortunately, a friend recommended Coffey House. Recognizing the need for both our dog and ourselves to be properly trained, we opted for the day-train program. From the very first session, we witnessed a remarkable improvement. Of course, he wasn't perfect overnight, but after completing her day-train program, attending additional classes, and committing ourselves to, as of now, 7 months of consistent work, we finally feel confident taking him out for walks and running short errands. We can now walk past other dogs without experiencing the previous meltdowns. It's hard to put into words how much progress we've made since that initial phone call, when we had almost given up hope of ever being able to take our dog for a simple walk. Not only is Kelli exceptional with dogs, but she is also an incredible person. I especially loved how positive Stefanie's attitude was and how you can tell she's very compassionate with dogs - it was really important to us that any training we use with our dog is structured that way.
