This is a big spacious PetSmart store with the expected toys, food, carriers, cages, beds; fish and small animals for sale- plus all the extras: grooming, veterinary clinic, and adoption center. Additionally they host cat and dog adoption events every weekend where area rescues come and set up. This was the reason for my visit; I came alone and went home with a large black cat. The checkout line was long but it seemed to be moving at a reasonable pace. Store looked pretty clean and easy to navigate. Very unhappy with the last groom for our dog. Dropped him off for a full groom, which included bath and brush. They called us to pick him up 30 minutes later. C'mon!!! You bathed, dried, brushed, and trimmed the nails for my double-coated dog in 30 minutes??? Now he's home and dropping hair everywhere. Any other groom that lasted at least 2 hours showed the results, and he was de-shedded. Let's face it. You brushed him a little and sprayed him with something then trimmed his nails. Total waste of our time and money. Tired of the hit and miss grooming at this place! By the way. The girl at the counter needs to stop thinking that she knows how to interpret breeds. I am very frustrated, maltreated, and disgusted with Petsmart Eastgate store in Cincinnati, OH in particular. This lady who claims to be a manager, her name is Amy and not wearing a manager tag intentionally speak to me in a high tone voice insisting their policy and insisting that I the customer is not having it when all I told the other personnel is I do not have the exact tank size. It can easily be delivered by we are very sorry but due to our store policy without knowing g the exact tank size we are unable to sell this to you but instead told me in a loud high pitch tone I front of other customers who refused to stay around bec she was embarrassing g me said No we cannot sell you this yelling to my face and staing these are creatures with life. ---I know that and care very much for my pets at home so to be told this is very uncalled for. As I was walking away she continued to talk loudly making it known to the store she can't sell it to just anybody. So embarrassing. Again, I did not insist but for some reason she came up assuming that. I turned my back and start heading out, she still kept talking. I CALLED petsmart. Customer service and reported it as soon as I got in my car, it's been over a week now and the promise of them getting back with me on this by phone or email did not happen. I'm really disappointed. This morning was my last and final experience with Petsmart Eastgate grooming. Called to say I was running a few minutes behind and they said ok. I arrive and they said they didn't talk to me that I was probably talking to their call center In Arizona. (Sounds like a whole lot of not my problem) & they can't groom my dog today. Called and spoke to the manager who said he would give me a discount. I told him that they said that the last time and I never received the discount. The staff definitely needs customer service training. I never leave bad reviews but my frustration level with Petsmart is through the roof! I don't remember what this lady's name was but the only thing I can remember-because I was so aggravated-is that she had long black hair. This lady was super rude and condescending the whole time I was in the check out line. She stated multiple times that "she couldn't wait til 9 o'clock because that's when the doors lock." She also got aggravated because the line was starting to wrap around the store because she couldn't figure out how to apply the discount to the items I was purchasing. Mind you- there was only one register open in the whole store... ON BLACK FRIDAY. Seems to be the average Petsmart. I was able to find all the items I was looking for. Some were better priced than other. I ended up buying the more expensive products rather than trying to drive across town to see if another retailer still had the items for less. Petsmart has a large selection of toys and pet food. Petsmart is good for one and done type shopping. Especially if you are getting a new pet, and need to get supplies for it quickly. Only one checkout lane seems to be open at any Petsmart I have visited lately. This location is no exception. Someone did ask me if I was finding everything alright. Although I don't come here too often, I would say things seem to have improved in some ways recently. Please do see my previous review about the contrast between online prices and in store prices, which I think isn't right. Recently when i've come here its been to simply bring my dog to pick out a toy or treat, and he loves socializing with all the people and other dogs. The staff has been really sweet to him. Keep an eye out for special events such as their recent free dog pictures with the Easter Bunny. Every Saturday they host a huge adoption event featuring various local rescues. DONT GO HERE all workers know nothing about animals! I bought four neon tetras from this location first night one died next day one then the last two the next I got them Friday the 21st and I'm writing this the 23rd. Not only those fish died the diases or whatever they had spread to my betta and one of my guppies my other guppy is now sad because he lost his best friend. The workers know nothing they don't care about animals this is just the only job they could land. A lot of dead fish in tanks, rats running in their feces, and bettas in small cups. Now I only have one fish and the tank I established for months before was contaminated so I had to empty all my fluval stratum and plants so I have to start all over my family loved the tank now we are all crying and wondeirng what go do with our last fish. I'm never returning to this location and my whole family will be writing reviews until this place gets down to one star. Sadly had to leave one star because that's as low as it goes. This pet store sucks if your needing a place to go I would recommend pet supplies plus on Beechmont or petco on five mile anywhere would be better than this store its terrible never visit. read more

I like the convenience of Petsmart but the prices are higher. That's OK because I always pull up a competitor on my phone. They always match. Sadly their website is cheaper than the store. They will match that too. If you order online and pickup in store you get another 5% off. I had to ask the store for the 5% because it didn't do automatically. We have gotten our dogs nails clipped for $10. usually wait for the $5 coupons. We also went to a dog training class. The beginning class was good. The intermediate one was annoying because it kept getting cancelled for low enrollment. We would show up the first day and they would change future classes. After 4 times of this we asked for a refund. The trainer was very good however. End of Christmas season sales are great. We got a bunch of dog bones for 80% off. Also can find a discounted toy by the register. read more

I'm here a lot and it doesn't matter if it's late in the day or they've just opened, the bathroom is always a mess, bags at the Oops stations are hit or miss. Same with the outside Oops stations. Shopping carts are all over the parking lot. I tried to gather a few by my vehicle but the cart corral was overflowing. Bathroom light has been out for months, there is usually a toilet out of order and the soap or paper towels are usually MIA. This is only the women's restroom. I have know idea how awful the men's is. read more

Third day today ~~ all three times were semi/satisfactory after learning lications of products. it's unfortunate that the lasting impression must be based on The extremely unfriendly checkout girl with single long braid, lacks general 'people skills' in servicing general public, who she 'signed up for' when taking the job. After checking out, not being thanked~~ 'have a nice day' or any other acknowledgment. I continued to be reminded of this persons's cool, attitude & demeanor, to the point of calling from my car , other friends to ask if they had ever gone to the Eastgate PetSmart Store? Right away, each had their own stories of why they hated this store, because the rudeness of experiences there! I was surprised to learn that it wasn't just me, but the same opinions of others. i vowed never to go back to Eastgate PetSmart, but glad to find there is a PetSmart in Newport Kentucky that happens to have good reviews! Have been taking dogs to Eastgate Petsmart for several years now. Until very recently I have been happy with the service my dogs received. Unfortunately that has changed in the past couple of months. When checking in a dog a groomer always comes out to check the dog over looking for matting, other things. They would tell you if the dog had matting that would cause them to cut the hair very short. However 2 months ago I took 2 dogs in, they were groomed and the bill included an extra $20 charge for each for matting. This was never disclosed up front, was told that it was due to "extreme matting ". I reluctantly paid it. Since then we have made a point of trimming any areas on our dogs that might be considered matting. The next 2 dogs went in and there were no issues. Today However was different. The groomer said our dog had matting and would need a cut to "10" a very short cut as they wouldn't be able to comb the matting out. When I picked Chase up the bill included the extra charge again for extreme matting even though his hair was cut very short. Was told they have to charge this fee now as corporate was cracking down on it. Chase's cut looks horrible! But more importantly this fee should be disclosed upfront when the groomer checks the dog over. They should tell you why it would be necessary, offer you the chance to approve the extra fee or cancel the appointment. It shouldn't be a fee just tacked on. Any matting can be labeled "extreme" if you know nothing about it and what makes it extreme. Very disappointed that this policy change has occurred read more

Terrible experience! Dogs treated like objects on an assembly line and roughly handled. Dogs howling from kennels in the "staff only" area. I paid $81.00 and when I picked up my dog, she needed add'l grooming, which I demanded they do on the spot. When I returned home, she needed add'l clipping. A very sloppy job! She was also ravenously thirsty and obviously did not have access to fresh water during her "visit". I will never, under any circumstances, use PetSmart again. read more

I made an online appointment two weeks out for my dog to get a complete groom. First off, the girl that was supposed to groom him wasn't there, even though the appointment was booked for her to to the grooming. So another girl asked if it was okay for her to do it. Its not like i had a choice after waiting two weeks, so I said yes. So just before the store closes, I get a call stating they were unable to finish his appointment. Not due to anything other than he moved his hind end ( paws ) off and on the table. He wasn't aggressive, just moving around. They have restraints at their stations, and I would think they would be trained for much more than a dog moving about. That's why they have restraints. end result was my dog was wet when they handed him back, the girl that brought him out was extremely rude and has no business working with people. End result I got the manager involved, she offered to give me a refund, I declined the refund only for the mere fact they might back on the girl. read more

We left our dog for an appointment for a bath and nail trim. we went back an hour and a half later to see how he was doing and they had not even started on him. The girl that was supposed to be bathing him was sweeping the floor and said she was just getting ready to go on her lunch break and then she would start on him. My dog Desert was always VERY nervous about being groomed but Christa at Eastgate Petsmart made her feel very comfortable! I will only request her! She does AN AMAZING JOB every single time I take my dog in!!! The shaves are always perfect and she always pays VERY close attention to detail!!! Desert's nails are always beautiful! Christa is SUPER friendly and SWEET! Desert is always so happy when I drop her off at the salon! As soon as she sees Christa, she wags her tail and gets so excited...I actually think she wants to stay when I pick her up, lol. If you need basic pet supplies this is not a bad place to go. But if you need your dog groomed run away as fast as you can. My wife and I took our dog there and expressed what we wanted, they did exactly the opposite of what we had requested. Understand dog hair grows back, but for 6-8 weeks our poor dog looked terrible.
