We finished up puppy training with Carolyne. It was so much fun that we have signed up for intermediate training and I think we will keep going. Carolyne is very knowledgeable about different breeds. I went in to purchase a Guinea pig and a cage. I wanted to see the Guinea pig I was purchasing but instead was talked down to by a store employee. She was very aggressive and persistent over nothing. We asked her name and of course she didn't know it. One of the Guinea pigs was bleeding and clearly not well. While others were very under weight. She had an argument of covid not being able to see the animal we were interested in. We pointed out that it is all contradiction since u touch the animal after purchasing. She then talked down even more and caused a scene. We pointed out her unnecessary behavior and she ran away when we asked her name. We were never rude to her so it was uncalled for the way we were treated. The cashier said she was new and didn't know her name yet. First time getting our dog groomed here and they cancelled on the day, and didn't have anyone else there to groom him. We had to reschedule two weeks out as that was the only time they had available so he was way overdue for his cut. He had some mats on his ears but nothing crazy. I have never seen where a groomer is so lazy they shave ALL the hair off of the ears. And he's a toy poodle! We will not be coming back. Thankfully they refunded all our money. First remove racial employees from your staff. Second, be able to give a definitive diagnosis of the problem and any other issues that may exist with a persons animal. I listened to how thorough the doctor and staff was with certain people. And just uncaring with my pet's situation but had no problem charging me $450.00 dollars for the visit and I still had to take my pet to vet for a better and more conclusive diagnosis. THIRD, and worse of all to be racially profiled by your doctor's by asking if we gave or if our pet may have gotten into our "weed" (marijuana). They said they didn't care if we do that kind of thing they just only see this kind of behavior in animals that may have ingested some. But, told us they have never seen a case like ours, but yet they ask about our pet ingesting weed. I told this accusation to my vet and he couldn't believe someone would be so racially stupid and a doctor at that. Beware of the groomer named Sharon. I have heard SO many terrible things about Petsmart's grooming, but have continued to take my 4 year old yorkie and even my yorkie before to Petsmart Cedar Park and Georgetown for the last 13 years. I am not exactly a grooming snob. Today was the last day! I am not even sure how to shorten this nightmare. I had to wait 15 minutes to get in the door due to the new "one family" rule, which was fine, even though I was nervous that they would cancel my appt. Then, noticing a groomer deathly afraid of a black lab before me, found out she was my dog's groomer, once I got in.... Her name is Sharon. Once in, Sharon ran her fingers through my dog's skirt, and immediately told me it would be an extra $8. This has NEVER happened with any groomer that I have gone to there, AND he had NO tangles! I told her that was crazy and that there were no tangles. She argued with me, and said I would have to pay the $8. I then told her that I could purchase a brush and brush him (which he did not need) in seconds for cheaper than that, and she told me that I didn't have enough time and that my appt. would be cancelled. Realizing that she was serious, I told her she had to be kidding (about the time and cancellation), and that if I hadn't had to wait 15 minutes, I would have had plenty of time to brush him. She gave me 10 minutes, so I went out, brushed him, and was back in less than 2 minutes. At first, she wouldn't wait on me, and then she finally came up to the counter, took my dog, ran a flea comb wide brush through his hair abrasively, made it through 3 or 4 time until she created a matte, and told me it was still going be $8. I asked for a manager. The manager was able to brush my dog fine, and questioned Sharon. Sharon still refused. The manager told me that if I had purchased the Top Dog, that would explain why I had never been charged before, because they used a special conditioner. I told her that I purchased the Top Dog online, as that is what I always get. Another groomer showed the manager how to look it up on my account, and sure enough, I had the Top Dog. The manager, then a little frustrated, told Sharon to just get this done. Sharon Refused, so the manager took up her side, and said that they just would not be able to do it without charging. I took my dog, and will never return. I understand that help is obviously hard to find right now, but Sharon, with the help of the manager, will kill their clientele. read more

Horrible service, these guys will do anything not to groom your dog. 1st they would not groom my 8 year old , 8 pound Yorkie because they did not believe my shot record that shows his rabies shot is good for 3 years, they said shots don't last 3 years, i had to have my vet to call them then they said my Yorkie who has 15 missing teeth would not cooperate. So they flagged my account without even talking to me . I only found out when I logged online to book the next appointment and it would not allow me to. I had to call In. I was hoping to get my puppy groomed and washed, but it was really $80 for a bath and a minimal trim to sanitary areas, foot, and eyes as well as shaved ears. They did nothing as far as cutting the rest of the dog. I did not get a good feel as soon as I told the groomer that it was the puppy's first cut. She pretty much threw up her hands and said she would not do the cut but would try. After three hours, she called to say the dog was ready and I had to ask what all services were performed. When I picked up my dog, it was awful. She shaved the ears completely but left the long hair on the head. The dog looked awful. The groomer claimed that my dog didn't like the grooming and was biting her. I had a previous bad experience here and thought I would try them again. I would suggest seeking somewhere else. I've waited a week to calm down before writing this review. Here's what happened last time I took our dogs in to be groomed: We have 2 small dogs: a Yorkie and a Yorkie-Poo. My wife called in a grooming appointment the day before Thanksgiving and arranged to have both dogs groomed for $43 each. She told me to skip the expensive nail-grinding. They have groomed both dogs several times in past. I work from home and took my lunch hour to take the dogs over. Big line of people & dogs waiting at the grooming counter. I waited with everyone else. When they finally checked me in, I was asked to sign / initial some papers and what they had listed for charges was like this: Dog A: [Grooming]: $43 Nail grinding: $24 Dog B: [Grooming]: $50 Nail grinding: $24 So, I had not problem whatsoever with the increased ($50) charge for our Yorkie-Poo. She's a bit bigger than the Yorkie, maybe she had some "matting" they said, etc. But when I told intake guy to take off the $24 nail-grinding charge, he started hemming and hawing and telling me it's what they had had in the past. I couldn't see the relevance of that. Then he started saying the other [grooming] charges would be more. I also couldn't understand that, but wanted to get out of their as quickly as possible. So I just accepted it. Still it was taking a while and I started thinking about what he had said. I started to become confused as to why I simply couldn't have that line-item removed. Why couldn't they simply skip the $24 nail grinding? Just skip it. I asked again quietly, why couldn't we just skip or eliminate this 1 line-item for each dog. I got some kind of weird response about how the first line-item would end up increasing because there was some hair-matting on one of the dogs, etc. So that's 2 times I asked the same question and got an incomprehensible response that was completely unrelated to nail treatment. I continued to wait patiently as the other customers cleared out and then I asked one more time and I expressed my frustration calmly using polite language, "I'm a little frustrated because I just don't understand why we can't simply remove this line-item for each dog." "Sir, I'm just going by their history." "No don't. Don't go by their history. Just take off this line item. No $24 nail-grinding." He called over the supervisor who began to explain, again, that the grooming would cost more because there was some matting on one of the dogs etc etc. Again, they were trying to jack up the price of the grooming each time I asked them to remove the expensive nail-grinding from the work order. And each time the excuse they used had to do with cutting of the dog's hair ... nothing to do with nail-clipping vs. nail-grinding. Finally after all other customers had left, I felt it was appropriate to speak frankly, even though I was GREATLY out-numbered. I said, "You know, right about now y'all look like a bunch of con artists to me. Each time I've asked you to remove this $24 nail-grinding line item you immediately start trying to jack the price of the other line-item [grooming]." "Well yes, sir, there was some matting in the dogs here behind the..." "Yes, but what does that have to do with nail-grinding. I'm just asking you ... telling you to remove this item and you keep making empty excuses..." Then the intake guy says to his manager, "Let's just give him his dogs back..." And so they proceed to try to kick me out. Me: "Wait, what's going on? You're kicking me out? Because I called you on your con game?" Manager: "Well sir, you're raising your voice and making my employee uncomfortable..." "I'm not raising my voice ... I'm raising a valid concern and you're trying to kick me out. I don't know what your reasoning is but from MY perspective this looks clearly like a con game you are playing. I've taken my entire lunch hour and waited in line here and now you're going to just kick me out because I've raised a valid concern? No, that's not right." In the end, they agreed to groom the dogs only for $43 & $50 + taxes. But what a miserable experience it was to get the dogs taken care of. I never EVER want to see those smug, cheating faces again. In my reasonable opinion, a lack of education and experience on the part of these groomers lead to this situation. They simply are not training in proper business ethics or how to treat customers in a decent manner. I'm fairly certain some of the groomers there are talented and reasonable people who know how to treat customers. Unfortunately, the groomer who checked me in and his manager are not among them. For you talented and decent groomers who work there: Turn this into your own opportunity: Break away from this establishment and start your own grooming business. We haven't had great experiences but they haven't been the worst. We are always over charged for a mediocre job but convenience wins out. Unfortunately, the day we needed them to be on time, they send our groomer to lunch in the middle of our appt. Why schedule the appointment if your going to go to lunch during the job I'm paying you for. It's very frustrating. We won't be back. We have had our dog groomed here before, multiple times. However, the last two times they have been trying to hose us with a 'matting' fee. We pay the higher price as our dog is large, but she is never matted. She is indoor and has no tangles or anything resembling being matted. I imagine its a new extra fee they intend to charge people who wait for the coat to grow out more than an inch. We will never go back to a Petsmart that insists on nickel and diming. read more

It saddens me to write a negative review, but I really feel like I have to echo what some other reviewers have said regarding the unethical business practices of the PetSmart Grooming Salon at the Cedar Park location. I dropped my 8 year old maltipoo off today for a grooming and nail trim at 12:30pm. He has been groomed at various PetSmart locations his entire life and we have never had an issue. When I dropped him off, I told the intake groomer that my dog does not like being put in a kennel, but is not at all dangerous. He will actually close the door himself, but will then bark about it. There is no actual aggression, just language, ha. The intake groomer laughed when I told her, gladly took him, and told me it would be about 4 hours. Let me also say that I was holding my 3 month old infant during this interaction...more on that later. Almost 2 hours later (2:15pm), I received a call from the grooming salon. I just assumed that they had finished early and he was ready to be picked up. No. The groomer proceeded to tell me that every time they tried to put my dog in the kennel, he began "attacking" them, so they would need to do an "Express" service and that it would be another $11. Are you serious? First, he wouldn't even attack a fly, but that's another story. It would be one thing if they had called me 5 minutes after I dropped him off and told me this, but 2 hours? What have you been doing for 2 hours? If he was truly attacking you, I feel like you probably would have called me earlier! The woman on the phone could not answer any of my questions and kept shifting the blame to her supervisor who was unable to come to the phone at that moment. I agreed to let them finish his grooming and decided to deal with the extra fee once I picked him up. When I picked him up from the salon and told them I would not be paying the extra $11 because I did not in fact receive an Express service, I was immediately referred to the manager, Danielle. Cue my 3 month infant full on losing his mind...just needed to set the stage for you. The manager insisted that I would need to pay the $11 because they had to keep him out of the kennel after the service. I asked the manager to please explain what the Express service was. She explained that it is a 45 minute-1 hour grooming where the dog is not kenneled and the owner picks him up immediately after he is finished. I calmly asked, "Is that the service that I received?" She said yes. So I laughed and explained that I most certainly did not receive that service. It was now almost 3:30pm, 3 hours after I had initially dropped him off, and that I was not even informed about the need for this service until 2 hours after I had dropped him off in the first place. I told her that I fully understood the need for this kind of service and would have even gladly paid for it, had I been informed initially or even immediately after dropping him off. She continued to maintain that they did the express service and could not seem to understand her contradiction. I finally had to emphatically state that I absolutely would not be paying the extra fee and just stood there staring at her while rocking my screaming baby for her to take off the charge. While we were leaving (mind you I was trying to maneuver opening a door while holding a dog and pushing a stroller and was not offered any help), I was told that they would be making a note in his chart for next time about the need for the express service. I replied, "Don't worry. There won't be a next time." This franchise is absolutely trying to rip people off. After reading so many similar experiences to my own, I am shocked. We will not be returning. read more

The staff here is so helpful and friendly and most of them are quite knowledgeable about the products they carry. If you need to find an item they are happy to help you look and give suggestions if you need them. They are not quite as cheap on items as you may find online but if you're wanting to see it in person or looking for something right away give them a try. read more

I've walked into this location many times and there has always been only one or two staff on the floor which is one sign that this Petsmart isn't great. Also, my most recent dog (who died a little while back) was usually adored by the pet hotel staff, but the last time I went to go pick her up, the workers said that she was being banned because she was "picking on other dogs and being to aggressive". Pepper (my dog) was never agreed I've but the sweetest dog ever. I was quite surprised. The hotel conditions are not great either. I saw very large dogs in little tiny cages crying and sitting very lonely. It was really sad to look at and I don't think I'll be coming back here. read more

This is an update to my previous review that was a 5 star. My favorite groomer Lyric no longer works there. I went in today to have my same dog groomed and had Sharon as the groomer. Before I walked in I noticed that my appointment had extra charges on the appointment WITHOUT EVEN GOING IN YET. When I arrived she was not friendly. Looked at my dog said she needed to shave him completely whatever the case may be. The dog was scared of her and she didn't even friendly approach him. She aggressively lifted his tails and ears flicking them. Completely bad energy then told me she would charge me an extra $30. The money part isn't a concern because I've spent money on him and every visit I pay for upgrades. Going once a month for 3 years I was not expecting this type of treatment. I grabbed my dog and said forget it and quickly walked out. When I reached out to the manager by phone she said it was my fault. Horrible customer service. Now I am going to look for another groomer. Most likely have to go private and local because every time I find a groomer at Pet Smart that I love they end up quitting or getting laid off. Real bummer. If the manager knew how to handle situations she would have offered to comp or discount and insist on having somebody else help me vs saying oh well it's your fault. read more

I took my puppy in for his first shots at Banfield and the Staff was nice but PetSmart was disgusting. Hair balls everywhere, dry pee along the walls and benches, I went to sit down and the amount of filth under the shelves made me sick. I have been taking my dogs to Banfields for over 10 years and this was the first location that made me reconsider wanting to use a Banfield vet. I didn't even want my dog to sit on the floor. Needless to say he had a bath before coming back into the house covered in other animals hair and pee. If it's still that filthy for our next visit I will be traveling to a further location. read more

I took Diamond to get a pawdecure lol the lady at the front was nice! she complimented diamond right away about how pretty she was... Then Lyric came out(beautiful name by the way!)! It was apparent that she was training her because she was "tellin'" her proper protocol...It one of those out of the way bad attitudes, ooo the tone of voice I can here it now. Thankfully she pulled through where it mattered most... as far as the job she did, it was adorable.... she's was much better with my dog than her co worker, of course my diamond bear was being such a good sweet girl even with the spooky drill but she was baby talking her like she was her own... She was doing a really good job... thank god. Once I saw how she was treating the "trainee" Lyric, I can tell ya got a good heart... but you owe your co worker an apology... you shouldn't speak to people that way in general. It is physically and psychologically easier on everyone. Stay away from this Petsmart and be sure to run the other way if Dr. Emily Crews is your Veterinarian. I brought my dog there today to be seen on an urgent bases. Instead of Dr. Crew coming out to go over what was done for my dog, the Vet tech came out to provide me an overview. When I questioned why my dog was being given Rimadyl again since she already takes that medication daily, she couldn't answer the question so I asked to speak with Dr. Crew. I found Dr. Crew's attitude to be abrasive and rude. She gets offended very easily when she is caught in a lie. Her way of dealing with that was to deflect from the issue and then accused me of being abrasive. I shouldn't have to ask a doctor to come out and tell me what she did when it involves a procedure on my dog that she sent home on an antibiotic, new pain medication and a ointment that need to be applied to her wound. read more

Just picked up both of my dogs from grooming at the Cedar Park on Whitestone location. They both looked wonderful and smelled even better. The groomers were both really sweet. My dogs each had a different groomer; one was Ceirstyn and the other was Ashley. I would highly recommend both of them to groom your dogs. Thanks ladies! Leah was the manager on duty both times I came to this location in Cedar Park. Every.single.employee. that worked 6/29 evening shift was sooo helpful and kind. I realized late on Sunday I was out of my Labs Blue Buffalo. I spend $60.00 a bag every 10 days at this store. Ran up there and arrived at 6:04. The door was open so I ran up and asked the young man at the door if I could grab a quick bag. He said "I can't she'll kill me and pointed at a young lady about 10 ft away smoking a cigarette and so I asked her. She said nope. I looked in and saw 5 people still in line to be rung up. So I told her I shop here every week and I have to go out of town in the am on a trip. Please just let me grab a bag I know exactly where it is. She said Nope. Dropped my dog at 1PM for a 1:30PM grooming appt. No call to pick up by 4:30PM, so we stopped by. Our dog had been in a cage for 3.5 hours and had never been groomed. Groomer who checked our dog in did not recognize her name and said "it isn't my fault". Groomer who was assigned her 1:30 appt denied any knowledge of what happened. Manager unable to address the issue. Entire place needs some adult supervision and training. We will look elsewhere. read more

I am not one of those over-the-top pet people who go off on a rant at the drop of a hat. I've always been a guy who thought pets were okay... for someone else. I've recently found that is because all of the pets I have ever known were either dogs, which I *personally* didn't care for, or for cats who happened to be living with owners that didn't really keep things clean. So please look at this review as someone who has just come to realize that he likes cats, and was a relatively new customer in the pet world. I will probably not ever go to this Petsmart again, and I have contacted the corporate offices about the cleanliness of the adoptable pets. I have already contacted the Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) where these cats for adoption come from, too. My daughter and I were looking for cats to adopt, and we were getting our new home set up with litter, toys, etc., so we stopped by this Petsmart on our way to the Humane Society of Williamson County. Since these were adoption pets and not from 'pet mills' we took a look. We asked to see two cats, and they both had an overwhelming urine smell. I went to your store twice on 15-July-2012 (2pm and 8pm) and both times the animals were stinky, so you aren't really keeping things clean. The two people that helped us didn't seem to notice, or care, and shrugged when we mentioned it. The comment was something along the lines of, "yeah, they just came from the shelter." I had concerns about the welfare of these animals, and I was hesitant to go to the Humane Society of Williamson County if this is how they take care of their animals. What a surprise I had when I found out every single animal at HSWC was clean, and well cared for. Since the cats I just looked at had just arrived it must be the conditions at Petsmart. I mentioned it to the staff at HSWC, and they got a slightly nervous/angry look and admitted that they knew there was a problem and they were trying to work it out with the management. I understand the tough spot HSWC is in because they need to find homes for these animals, and adoptions through the retailer works. Now listen to me, Petsmart. I know you are facilitating the adoptions because it is a point of entry to a new pocketbook. It has backfired - I'm taking to Facebook, Yelp, Twitter, and your website to express my disgust at the urine soaked cats you are attempting to adopt out. I took my dog there because of the good reviews - one groomer in particular. The first time I took her she was about 7 months old and they did a great job. She came out happy and looking good. A couple of months later was a different story. Same groomer, but nit the same experience. I booked online and she called to change the time and told me I should have called - she'd have never booked my labradoodle so late in the day. I offered to change days but she said no just come earlier. When I got there I was told first, she's no longer a labradoodle. She was the first time, but now she's a golden doodle and will cost extra. That should have been my first clue. Then I was told it would be two and a half to three hours. After 3 1/2 hours I went back to wait - it was over an hour. I watched through the window and was disappointed in the way my puppy was treated. She looked fine, but was more $$$ than expected and the groomers attitude was really disappointing. Obviously she was unhappy about having to groom her so late in the day, but I really wish she had just rescheduled rather than taking it out on her. read more

When you have two huskies that shed enough hair each week to make another dog out of, grooming is a pretty regular occurrence. We keep coming back to Petsmart because they have been the only place to do a consistent job each time within a reasonable price. You can pick whatever level of cleaning you would like. Sometimes we just want basic baths with brush outs, and other times like yesterday they needed the whole enchilada with nail trimming and teeth brushing as well. You get charged by level of what's being done which is nice. We paid $70 per dog yesterday, and had it been the more basic cleaning it would have been closer to $45-50 per dog. Make note that price is for large dogs, it might be cheaper for smaller ones but don't quote me on that as I'm not sure. The last time we had mobile groomers out we paid over $200 and were left with wet dogs and nails that were still too long. But this time everything was perfect. Nail length was just right, they were smelling good and super soft. It was worth every penny. And the women in the grooming department here are so nice. They give you report cards when they are done which inform you of any areas to pay special attention to on your dog as well as to document what all was done that day. Its also nice that if you are in the middle of something when they call to let you know they are done, they will hold your dog there until you are ready (within reason obviously). read more

Despite the awful lot of bad reviews here I decided to take my dogs to Petsmart. Book an $87 haircut @9am with Joseph E, he says it will be $112, in a low voice that I barely heard and when ask why the upcharge he says, their hair is too long and need to be brushed and scissored before the actual haircut. WTF . Never heard of that. "they will be ready in about 3-4 hours" Fast forward to almost 6 hours, never called or notify of any issues however my dog had a bloody nail, bit of blood clotter still between toes, back paw. They did not mentioned a thing, I assumed that's why it took them so long because they wanted the bleeding to stop. Picked her up and he only said, "she was so good" Understand things happen, but not telling the owners, hiding the info and upcharging is wrong. Do better! read more

I stopped to buy my son's cat some food, a toy and a cat tree. Before I even entered the store there were 4 dogs in cages outside of the store. A worker was charging at the dogs with a squirt bottle in her hands and they would stop in fear when they saw her. The dogs were obviously excited to be outside with so maybe people walking by. Her behavior toward the dogs was hostile and she yelled at them and squirted on in the face! I was upset by this and asked a worker inside the store if she should be yelling at and squirting the dogs that way. He told me "that's how it's done, how to train them". I was very upset by his flippant attitude especially since he works for a pet store! I went to the cat section of the store to look at cat trees. The signs were unclear which ones were on sale and which were not. I found an associate to help me. She wasn't any help. She had no idea what the signs meant and which were on sale. She disappeared for several minutes and finally returned with a price gun. After finding out that only 3 were on sale I asked her about food. I was told that they no longer carried the food I needed because they lost the contract. At this point I was done with the store. Dog abuse, rude associates and an associate that didn't know her products. I went to Petco where I found everything I needed, for a better price, was greeted by 3 friendly associates when I entered and was giving immediate help and advice by knowledgeable associates. Next time I will skip Petsmart and go to Petco only! read more
