This is for their grooming dept - I just had my doggie groomed by Eileen at this location. Because it was her first grooming since I rescued her a couple of months ago, I was very concerned about her experience. When I dropped her off, the girls there (Jennifer, Eileen, and I can't remember the rest of their names but there were at least 3 others) immediately rushed to gush over my nappy pooch. Her tail was wagging at light speed and she immediately jumped into Eileen's arms. I was instantly comforted by the greeting and knew she was in good hands. Eileen promptly called me 2 1/2 hours later to let me know she was ready for pick up. When I got her, she was happy, bouncy, clean, fluffy and looking extra sassy - complete with a diva bow on her head. She immediately pranced around to show off her new do - and she smelled like spring. There were 2 ladies who told me they were going to take her home when asked which dog they were there to pick up because she looked so cute. I had a $10 off coupon so the total cost came to $29 - I will definitely return here for her future groomings. All my fears about chain store groomers have been put to rest by this experience. read more

Terrible customer service, I accidentally called a different store after I needed to cancel an online order and they told me to call this store which the order was sent to. When I spoke to the manager he told me he didn't need the order number and would just cancel it for me without even asking what it was that I ordered or even for my name. So for all I know he could be canceling other people's orders. I repeatedly tried to give him my order number and he refused to listen telling me I was wrong when I had the email confirming my order in front of me. Overall terrible service read more

As many of the reviews below say... do not groom your dog here! I recently got my dog groomed here in part because it was less expensive than other groomers and they had availability. Everything seemed ok when I dropped him off- they were friendly, and they asked what I wanted his cut to look like. When I picked him up, he seemed like he couldn't wait to leave. They said they were only able to trim 3 out of his 10 nails because he got scared (although another groomer managed to do it well last time). Once I got home, I noticed that his chest was so shaved that I could see all the skin underneath. The next day it got worse. He started having major stomach issues, with a lot of diarrhea and blood in his stools. The problem continued to get worse, until I decided to take him to the vet two days later. Our vet said that he had "stressed induced colitis," and that this was causing his stomach problems. He told us that our dog had likely been so stressed out and traumatized by his haircut at PetSmart that he had gotten sick. I then had to spend $145 on the medicine and veterinary care caused by his $50 haircut. Overall, PetSmart may be cheaper than other groomers, but it is not at all worth it. Spend the extra $20 or so on another groomer and you will not traumatize your dog and it could save you some money in vet bills. read more

I called the Campbell store (#71)) and found a very RECEPTIVE manager willing to help me. She sent over one of her employees with a new tree (she'd emailed what she had on the floor). Showed up here to buy children some fish after they worked very hard to earn the privilege of owning them. on Saturday, 10/8, the guy behind the counter said they weren't selling fish without further explanation. He said to come back "next week". Arrived on 10/16 to pick up fish. Kids fell in love with a zebra fish but when we went to check out, guy at the counter said they weren't selling fish because they didn't have enough staff as someone was sick. He said come back"tomorrow". Came back today after a very hectic schedule. Most apathetic employee I've ever seen is hunched over in a hoodie not paying attention to anything but what appears to be her phone. Another employee sitting lazily next to her in checkout line. I asked for help with the fish and she said, "I don't think we're selling them after 8". I asked why there was no sign explaining that. She obviously could have cared less and went back to hunching over lazily doing absolutely nothing with not a single other customer in the store. I run a business, and would be so embarrassed if these people were on my staff. They can't be bothered to do any job, especially anything that involves getting up and moving. The groomers here are good and have always done a good job on my dog (a morkie - maltese/yorkie mashup). The bath comes with some key services - sanitary trim (butt shave) & ear cleaning for $34 on average. Nail grinds are $12 more. read more

My purry furry is pretty damn picky about what he eats so I can't buy just anything - and they do have a large and well stocked selection so that works for me. DO NOT USE THE GROOMING SERVICES..... make sure you do your research. I've used petsmart grooming a few times but this last time was the icing on the cake. My poor dog now has patches of missing hair. She did not cut him evenly. My dog is a toy poodle now he just looks like a homeless rat. The groomer had the nerve to say " if you want to me to fix anything, I'll be here tomorrow." I'm like are you serious. What are you going to do?!? Glue extensions on him. Gtfoh. Don't get me wrong, I can deal with a low cut but my dog patches of bald spots!!!!! Oh yeah, let's not talk about his nails... still long and cut at inconsistent diagonals. So frustrating. The do boast a huge variety of pet food, snacks, toys, clothes, accessories and other pets. I'll come here mostly as a last resort because of the prices. Very bad, My dog went for a grooming session there and the groomer did a razor burn near his private area and didn't even tell us. He behaved very differently and refused to get up and go for walk for eat anything. Then I notices he was in pain and called the vet. Vet found out that there was razor burn. I told them to Petsmart. after that my dog suffered for 7 more days to get fully back. So watch out! read more

Anyway, he started talking to her like an adult, asked bunch of questions, clarified some concerns that my daughter had and at the end he recommended a hamster (one a bit bigger than the last that we lost). Thank you Tommy ( I believe that was your name) for your professionalism and the attitude towards my daughter. She really liked you. Curbside pick up is horrible here not my normal pet smart . I usually go to Coleman but I by accidentally ordered her . FIRST OFF the curbside pick up was not working . THEN WHEN I CALLED , they didn't answer . Then I had my boyfriend go in and they said I need an id to pick up my item. and the man giving me my item stated that it says on my email that I need an Id when I checked it didn't say that . I come to this store often and usually have the best experiences, but today the woman in front of me was trying to exchange/return a plant the manager Jessica was really rude and aggressive with her in stating that their policy is live things needs to be returned to the store they are purchased at the customer said she understood but that the Almaden store had made an exception before the manager Jessica again very aggressively told the customer she didn't have to do what the other store does. I understand that stores have policies but they also have policies on customer service and the way that this woman treated this customer was really shocking and rude and I just couldn't believe that she acted that way she wasn't nice or pleasant or apologetic at all she was very blaming of the customer and matter-of-fact about how she just had to go back to the other store when as a manager I feel you shouldn't be petty like this or be rude and it would've been very simple to just make an exception and return the $12 plant. chill out Jessica it doesn't effect your personal bank account if you make exception and provide good customer service. read more

I got my daughter a bearded dragon for Xmas. She's been asking for one. The guy at the store said to setup his cage first . He literally helped me shop and picked stuff out. Told me what I needed. Well, then I Find out I waisted a fuck ton of money. He told me to get the wrong UV light. So I bought the light AND lamp. Bearded dragons can't have sand. He gave me sand. He told me to get a specific basking lamp. Wattage was not nearly hot enough. The tank was too small. He said to eat pellets everyday. Which isn't good. Said to get my baby bearded dragon mealworms which they can't really have because it's hard for Them to digest. I had to spend SOOOOO much extra money. I'm so broke. But obviously I'm gonna get my bearded dragon what he needs. I've spent about 600 on this lizard thanks to your employee. Talk to your staff about learning what these animals need instead of just guessing. My boy was sick because he didn't have the proper temps and UV. And was feeding him food he couldn't digest. I'm not happy at all! Also, don't get crickets from here. They are usually about dead by the time you get home. read more

Just like any other Petsmart the animals look kind of sickly and they're often out of what I need. This pet location is less than a quarter-mile from my house which is why I still come here. On one of my last visits I purchased the last bag of my rabbits preferred brand of food, and to my dismay when I open the bag it was full of moths and spiderwebs. When I took it back to the store they simply exchanged it for me and I paid the difference for a new bag of food, but I was just disgusted by whoever stock the shelves and did not check the expiration date or notice if the package was opened. As for the rest of the store, their animals look like half of them may be sick, but it's a pet smart so I'm not surprised. read more

We paid $50 for our 60-pound dog to get washed and furminated (undercoat deshedding). I'm pregnant on bed-rest, but my husband and I usually tag team the dog cleaning every few weeks. I called the day before for a reservation. They couldn't tell me the price because she's a mutt. Whatever. They ended up charging us $51 including a large-dog surcharge. Since when is a dog that fits in medium-size everything eligible for a large-dog upcharge? Lame! The worst part? They barely washed her and barely deshedded her. She came back home trailing fur like a dandelion in the wind. And, she's not even a hairy dog-- she's got a short coat! We called the next morning to bring her back to re-do it since they clearly did not earn the $51 we paid. They made excuses, but my husband brought her back and demanded she be redone. We brought her back home knowing they did very little, but that there was little else these neophytes could do about it. Tonight is 2 days post grooming and my husband brought the deshedder to the park with us. We weren't surprised that he raked loads and loads off from her undercoat without any effort. I swear, this was the biggest waste of $50 that I've ever had! Seriously: highway robbery. read more

Even by PetSmart standards, this store seems a little more run down than most of their locations. It seems like most of these big chain pet stores popped up in the 90's and they haven't bothered renovating any of their stores since that time. All appearances aside, I still patronize PetSmart because they have what I need for my various critters. The people that work here are always very friendly and helpful, and most of the people in the fish and reptile department are knowledgable about the animals and products needed for them. My wife and I recently had to get rid of a makeshift turtle pond that we built on our patio and we have several refugee fish as a result. I called this PetSmart location and asked if they could take several fish off our hands and they were more than happy to help us out. Although they couldn't resell our fish, several of the employees called dibs on some of our more fancy specimens and promised to give them good homes. Maybe they should do what all the old Safeway locations did and add new flooring and dim the lighting a little. A facelift every two decades certainly couldn't hurt! read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at the groomers. When I arrived, they turned me away because the dates on my dogs vaccinations sheet did not indicate whether or not she was due or the date was when the shot was given.. which is understandable, but my dog is only 1 year old and the date written was before she was even born. I tried explaining to them that it didn't make sense, but they still denied service. As I was walking away, they found another document from the envelope I gave them that states when she got her rabies shot, which seemed to be all they needed.. I told them that Luna needs her nails trimmed, her belly shaved(she's a chow and it helps her stay cool), and to SHAPE around her butt and legs. I'm assuming they heard me wrong because they ended up shaving her butt. Now her butthole is very visible and always looks like it's staring at you.. I was really disappointed at that because it does not look good at all. They also did not shave her entire belly. She has 6 nipples and they shaved from the center nipples and below.. I didn't realize that until I got home, but am not going to bother going back. read more

Used to go here. Don't anymore because of the horrid customer service. There were always long lines, even in the middle of the day, but the day that broke the camel's back was when the store manager came up to "help". He says, "I can take you over here miss". I go to his lane and he has to spend a few minutes logging into his computer. Hmmm, the people behind me in the other line are now at the front. Then he tells me, after ringing me up and me holding out the cash, to run my atm card through. "I want to pay cash." "You can run your card through or you'll have to get back in the other line. I don't have cash in this drawer." Hmmm... this might have been helpful information before you rang me up and the 100 people in the other line already went before me. What might have been more helpful is if I had received this information in a way that did not make me feel like the bane of his existance. I don't usually put a $4 tab on my credit card but that day I did, just to get the hell away from petsmart and never come back! read more

Is it possible to give negative stars? I am never coming back to this Petsmart location ever again. This review is for the grooming department: Dropped my dog off at 345pm for a haircut only. At 445pm, Petsmart calls and tells me that they're unable to cut my dog's hair. In addition, they said they washed him because he pooped, but he doesn't smell any different when we picked him up. This is the worst part -- How dare you even charge us $25 to say you washed our dog when you really didn't. And did we ask you to wash the dog only? Ridiculous for $25. Lets start from the good to the bad. Good: Appointment was available when I needed it . Pet's haircut turned out well. Manager was responsive. Bad: Made an appointment for 1pm in the afternoon... I was told my 6 month old Maltese would be ready from 2-3 hours. At 3 hours i called to check (since i have plans in the evening and would need to pick him up ASAP) and was told he hadn't been touched and that it would be 1 more hour... My question to you, Petsmart, is WHY do you ask us to make appointments to hold puppies in kennels for that long... when you are not going to get to them in a timely manner? So far I am not impressed and will be finding other grooming salons. . As this is my and my puppies first grooming experience, i was not made aware of the process. I had to ask how long it would take and then assume i was leaving him. All of this information should be made available to new "puppy parents" dropping off their new pets. When i spoke with the manager, he comped the bill to 50% off. I let him know that the cost was not the issue and that I was more concerned for my puppies first time at the groomers. To keep him in a new environment for that long was not necessary for a 6 month old puppy. Not impressed at all! read more

Plusses: decent selection, fair prices, and everything I bought here was new (and not previously returned and re-shelved as some places do). Some of the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Minuses: they don't carry all brands (exclusivity agreements, I imagine), and they are understaffed at times (you may be waiting for some time if you want to buy a critter of some sort). Some of the staff is not very friendly or knowledgeable. And yes, I realize that the "staff" issue seems contradictory, but actually it's not. Some of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and some isn't. It's a bit of a crap shoot. Sometimes you will run into employees who REALLY know their stuff, and then the whole experience becomes an unmitigated pleasure. I could really take or leave the pet store part of this particular store, the staff is always nice but a bit hard to find if you need something and they're out of stuff alot of the time. That said. The grooming department here is fab. I have a shih tzu who's kinda antsy about getting his hair cut, not a yappy spaz or anything you just need to take a bit longer w/ him and be gentle and he's golden. The staff here always take the time and keep my little guy lookin good. I've taken him to a few upscale "salons" and they've charged me extra for having to take the time to work w/ him or just flat out given him shitty cuts and said that if i want it done better to get him tranqulizers from the vet! none of that here. just pretty puppies. read more

I took my toy poodle here for a groom on Aug 6 and left in tears. I wasn't going to even Yelp about this because the salon manager was such a sweetheart, but I feel compelled due to the numerous family members, friends, and random people walking their dogs that have either commented (negatively) or just plain busted out laughing looking at her. She looks like a bald rat. I get my dog groomed at the Petsmart in Modesto on Sisk all the time and she comes out beautiful (she even struts her stuff) , but when people come near her now she literally hangs her head and tucks her tail in shame. The groomer Henry was extremely rude, snide, and unprofessional. So much so that I called 10 min after I dropped her off so that I could pick her up. (I was told that she was already started, so I went through with the groom). All bad. The upside of this experience is that the salon manager was a doll and herd me telling the cashier about my terrible experience and came out from a conference call to speak to me. She listened and tried to rectify the situation by telling me that she came in soon after I dropped my puppy off and was present for the entire groom and that my puppy was handled with absolute care. As a consumer (and a caring pet Mommy) I did my research on this Petsmart by checking its grooming salon on yelp (decent reviews) and visiting the Saturday before her groom to meet the grooming salon staff. The ladies I met there were so nice and I'm frankly disappointed that I'm writing this, but my overall experience with the groomer and the terrible cut she has to live with until her hair grows back get this store one star. read more

I was just faced with the most unfortunate event in this place. My luck a racist is a manager in this store. Orange headed man in his 40's with long carrot color beard didn't give me his name as he is supposed to. They incorrectly charged me 6.99 instead of 3.99 after waiting in line for 15 min. I realize it walking to my car and had to return back to the store while being extremely late to an appointment. I let the girl in the front know and she apologized and asked me to go get the difference from cashier. Of course at this point there is another long line and I just had to get my $3 back that was charged by their mistake. I ask the lady in front of the line politely to go ahead of her to get my different back and she lets me. The manager comes to me and condemned me to go to the end of the line. I tried telling him that I am only getting my money back and he repeatedly tells me to go to the end of the line with hearing me out. At that point I went back to the end of the line and returned everything. Later I hear another colored customer arguing with him foe his money back on another return. This man needs to be fired and let Pet smart keep their customers happy. This is the reason I buy 80% of my goods from Amazon Costco and Target. I am happy these business are closing one after the other. read more

You can find just about anything you need for your pet here, even for horses. They have a large selection of food, supplies, medicine, toys, carriers, and other items available here for cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, horses, fish, guinea pigs, and other small animals like that. If you get a Pet Card, you can save money on some of the items you buy. If you forget your card, just give the cashier your number for the discount. If you really value your pet, it's for the best if you spend a few extra bucks on food for them since they need to eat well too to stay healthy. Think of it this way, would you feed your human kids cake and ice cream and other junk food all the time? If you're sane, no. So, why feed your pet cheap food? Sure, you'll save some money at the time, but once your pet gets sick, you won't be saving any money by taking them to the vet. Prolong their health and their life the by feeding them right and taking care of them properly. I recommend coming here on a weekday early if you can as they're usually short on cashiers. Today there was only one there and about six people in line. They really need to hire more cashiers, especially now for the hectic holidays. Also, there is a vet place inside the store that is separate from PetSmart. Grooming and dog training is available at this location too. Parking is plentiful at this location. Dogs are welcome inside. Just have Fido do his or her business before you go inside if you're a dog owner as I once saw a big piece of poo in one of the aisles, gross! That's just rude! read more
