This is for the grooming department. The rest of the store seems like your standard Petsmart. We just took the dog in to get a haircut. The usual place we take him to in the area was booked for the weekend. My sister dropped him off and when she did, she told them specifically to shave all his hair at the same length, to make sure to cut the hair around the ears because it always gets matty otherwise and NOT to give him a poodle cut. Well, guess what. They managed to give the dog a bizarre haircut and now he looks like an alien. The hair cut is some cross between a poodle cut and an afro. I don't think they cut the ear fur at all or even trimmed his nails. On top of that, they called us at some point complaining about the dog's behavior. Now, the dog's kind of a brat and can misbehave sometimes when we take him to the groomer. However, apparently they required three people to hold down a tiny dog with short legs. And even with all of those people shaving him, they managed to ignore a tick that was under his leg. There are also some huge scratches on his face that were not there before. This is kind of a problem. We're putting in a complaint for this. read more

Today I went to this petsmart store to buy a couple of algae eaters for my fish tank. My 9 years old son was interested in some other goldfishes too. But the young lady with tattoo simply refused to sell any to me because she said she didn't feel comfort to sell any of them to stay with tilapia fish that I have in my fish tank. What is wrong with Tilapia? I don't understand. Does she know anything about aquaponics? I feel offended because the service was rude and arrogant. Stay away from this store. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I took my dog here to get groomed last weekend. I dropped him off first thing in the morning, expecting to get a call back a few hours later to pick him up. I did get a call a few hours later, but it was inform me that he did not feel like getting his hair cut today. I have 3 problems with this: 1. It took them three hours to realize this? 2. Although he would not behave enough to get his hair cut, they were able to give him a bath and a brush and then charge me $40 for it. If they can't do all of the service I requested, don't do any of it. 3. I picked my dog up, stopped by Wal-Mart on the way home, bought some hair clippers, and proceeded to cut his hair as soon as we got home. Yea, he was a little unnerved while getting clipped, but I was able to cut his hair using only a leash and a pair of clippers. They had pet clippers, grooming tables, and experience at their disposal, and yet they were not able to cut his hair? I can understand that it may take longer or be more difficult to cut a puppy or my specific breed's cut, and that not all groomers may be up to this challenge. All I ask is that if you are one of these groomers, only accept the clients that you know you can handle. I can think of a lot better ways I would prefer to spend my weekend then running back and forth to PetSmart to pick my dog up after a three hour bath and brush. read more

1) The staff seem pretty nice and helpful. 2) They have the stuff I want. However, my friend was checking out the birds and noticed a sick bird at the bottom of it's cage (the other birds in the cage were "stressed out" - I know NOTHING about birds, but she's had birds all her life and can tell, I guess). She told me "that bird's dying, I'm going to go tell someone" and she walks over to a staff member and lets them know. The staff very quickly comes over, takes a look and immediately calls someone from the on-site vet clinic over to get the bird. A new guy comes, gets the bird out of the cage, into a box and walks into the back. We were impressed with their quick action. But then, about 10 minutes later, my friend walks to the vet to check on the bird (she was worried) and was told that they never brought the bird into the clinic. Sad face. read more

I don't have a problem with this store in general but I do have a problem with the grooming department and the Banfield inside. I've taken my dog here at least a couple times for grooming but after this last incident I am definitely not taking him back. The first couple times I took him here they did just fine but this last time...I don't even know where to start. When I got him back, I noticed it was a little red around his groin but nothing too bad. A couple hours later though, he developed major major razor burn on his scrotum and the day after we got him back I noticed he got FLEAS!!! He definitely did not have fleas before going to the groomers and he had not been around other dogs or any other new areas so it has to have been from the groomer. We called the grooming department and they told us to bring him in to the Banfield inside the same PetSmart so we brought him in. We first took him to the grooming department to have them take a look and they said to go ahead and take him to the Banfield so we did. Little did we know that we would be there for 2 BLOODY FREAKING HOURS!!!! It took about 30 min for us to actually get into an exam room, another 45 minutes for the vet to walk in and actually look at him for all of 5 min, and then another 30 min for them to take us out of the exam room and prescribe my dog antibiotics for the slight infection he got from the razor burn!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really tempted to post a picture of the injury they did to my dog but I'll refrain since it really isn't in a very appropriate area. After all that, we still had to argue with PetSmart management for like 20 min to get them to pay for the $150+ vet bill for the injury that THEY caused to my dog! I would not have brought my dog to their vet in the first place if they hadn't told me to bring him in!! At first they kept saying they weren't positive it was their fault!!!!! We finally got a vet tech to say that yes they caused the injury and PetSmart should pay for it. Never again are we taking our dog to this PetSmart's grooming department. I will not subject my dog to the same injury that he suffered here again. He was seriously traumatized to the point where he was submission peeing and he NEVER does that. read more

This review is for the grooming department. I took my pomeranian here last week. It was easy to schedule an appointment on the weekday, and it took almost 2 hours for my dog to get completely groomed. I usually get the grooming package, which includes the shampooing, ear cleaning, face cleaning, and haircut. I pay the extra $11 do get his nails ground, rather than clipped, because people have told me that it's better for the dogs. He was actually ready to be picked up in an hour and 45 minutes, which is the fastest my dog has ever gotten a grooming at any Petsmart location. I took him to other Petsmarts, around the Bay Area and in southern California, and they always take about 2.5 hours to get him completely groomed. My only qualm is that when I picked up my dog he had a little nick by his groin area. He's had that happen to him before at other Petsmarts, so I don't know if maybe my dog is just sensitive in that area and just moves around a lot, making it hard to avoid being nicked, or what. Anyway, the staff was really nice and service was quick. I don't know if I'll return to this location since it's a bit of a drive for me. I may try other Petsmarts before I go back to this one. read more

The groom service at this store has a rude woman working there. I walked in and she started barking at me without even turning to look at me! When she turned to face me she was wearing children's boots, had rainbow hair and was waving scissors like a round piratess. Then she chastised me for being a few minutes late. And when I mentioned my dog was nervous as she had been to the vet, she waved those scissors again and gleefully told me I would have to wait at least a week between going to the vet and grooming! Turns out there are a lot of places to get my dog groomed. I won't be back to let that roundclowngirl anywhere near my dog. read more

This review is only about their dog training classes. $119 for six weeks of classes, sounded like a good deal at first. However, that "deal" means nothing when the person teaching the class knows about the same as I did after a 30 min search online for basic puppy obedience training. Class #4 was an enormous waste of time as the trainer did nothing but let the dogs play for an hour. I did not pay for an hour of puppy play, that's what dog parks are meant for. I paid to learn how to effectively train my dog to obey basic commands and to teach her how I want her to behave. Please, save your money and take your pet to a professional who SPECIALIZES in dog training. Some kid earning $9 an hour is not nearly qualified enough to train you or your dog. read more

I have been to this PetSmart three times this week to purchase fish. The first time i went into this store (a little past 6 pm) their employee told me that the fish section is closed and under observation because of infection. I found this hard to believe so the next morning i returned and was able to purchase 2 angle fish. Today i returned and wanted to purchase the other two angles i was looking at the previous day. I walked up to what seemed like a manager based on what she was wearing and asked if someone could help me in the fish department, Jessica responded in a very aggressive tone that all animal departments are closed and no one can help us despite having multiple employees on the floor. In no way did i deserve to have been spoken to the way Jessica responded. I am so disappointed with this location. They treat this store like a McDonalds broken ice cream machine, it doesn't make sense how a pet store can just close down their main department every night before the store actually closes. read more

I take my dog for grooming here, they do well.. except his nails don't look like they were trimmed. He also gets an uneven cut 3/5 times on his back. Whatever, it's not so noticeable when his hair grows out. Whenever I buy feeder fish from this location, (I buy about 20-25 a time) about 5-7 of them die within the first 2 days. always. When I buy fish from Coleman or McCarthy Petsmart, ALL the fish stay alive. I don't buy feeders from petsmart very often, I usually go to King Aquarium. read more

My son & I came here about a month ago. He wanted a bird to replace his 22-yr-old cockatiel. My son is 29. He saw a green-cheeked conure and that was that. We discussed the purchase. I reminded him that the bird will probably out-live ME and that he needed to remember that this is a loooong term commitment. There was a woman hovering nearby. When she saw that he was going ahead with the purchase, she offered advice on a local avian vet. After we left - I got the feeling that she was possibly the breeder trying to be sure the bird got a good home. So - if you're reading this; be assured - your bird is loved and being well-cared for. You must have loved and pampered her a lot because she settled in quickly. In less than 2 days - she was running the place:) She has a huge aviary on the screened back porch - a table play pen that can be carried to any room and another cage for bedtime. So she's hardly ever alone. Inbetween - she's either being cradled in someone's hand, playing with one of her ka-zillion toys or sitting on the arm of a chair watching TV with us. So - I guess I can say, when you're going to spend $350 on a bird - it's good to get a healthy, happy bird at PetSmart. read more

With my newly adopted kitten, Zoey, I am always searching for items at various pet stores. This was my first time in this store, and though it was a good-sized store, I didn't see a very good assortment of toys for Zoey. They do have the usual assortment of cat litters and litter boxes, along with many different cat scratchers and cat condos. I combed the isles for Zoey's current food, Science Diet, which she likes a lot. The prices seemed about the same as Petco and definitely higher than Pet Club. I suppose if you have a dog, fish or birds you might enjoy this store, but I found it not to be to my liking. The staff at the store were polite and asked if I needed help, so that's a plus. I would give this place a 3.5 stars if possible. read more

This place is all right, they generally have anything you could need, and if you're a petperks member you get great discounts. My beef is with the vacant and never there staff. Any time I've ever tried to get help with the fish / plant section of the store, I end up having to chase some cashier down who pages a surly and reluctant 19 year-old who takes 45 minutes to get my fish. Sometimes they even use their hands to grab the fish! I got ghost shrimp once and the person dropped and left one on the floor--even after I pointed this out. Yikes! I get it, they're probably being paid minimum wage for a less than thankless job, but please don't try to talk me out of "mixing fish" or whatever lame excuse you can come up with because you don't want to do your job! I'm more than capable of handling the fish I'm about to purchase. It's pretty much hit-or-miss with the staff here, if you see someone attending other customers make sure you get their attention... flail your arms wildly and point at the fish, ANYTHING, otherwise they'll disappear into the mirrored-window office and you'll be stuck in no man's land forever. There is, however, an older blonde woman who works in this department who is always agreeable and AMAZING. read more

This review is for the groomers. I took my dog here today for a nail trim. He only needed a slight trim which I thought would be OK. I was watching him through the window and heard him yelp in pain. When I walked in to make sure he was OK, blood was running out of his paw. I conveyed to the girl that if she wasn't comfortable trimming his nails then she should not have started to trim them. Needless to say, I was very pissed! His paw is still uncomfortable hours later. If you love your fur baby like I do then do not take them here. read more

My problem with PetsMart is that booking an grooming appointment must be done on-line and their booking interface software is difficult to use. Plus it uses acronyms, such as CHI, without explaining what that service is. I used to always bring my little Maltese here for a bath trim and nail cutting, and I could book an appointment over the phone. No longer. So I am now going to a grooming service that much easier for me to book an appointment. read more

I made the mistake of telling the clerk that I needed a fish for outdoor use in my greenhouse. He got all uppity and wouldn't sell me any of his. I've got a whole school of his cheap feeder goldfish already that are 5 years old and breeding happy. I just need something that's tropical, doesn't mind living in a puddle, and loves to eat live mosquito larvae. Any of his beta would have been perfect. Dude may know fish, but he don't know squat about aquaponics. Referred me to a "specially" fish store across town. Jerk. As this was my dog's first time at this location, they asked for a proof of rabies shot. No problem. Luisanna was the groomer who did a wonderful job, and my dog was ready to be picked up at the time promised. $45 service included bathing, shaving, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and teeth cleaning. read more

There is been a shortage of my dog's canned dog food. Because he has allergies and health issues I can't easily switch his foods. It took a long time to find a food that works. I called to several stores in the area and this location had it. An employee Christine set aside all that they had for me to pick up. When I got there she went out of her way to find another store that had some. She had a manager pick up more cases in a location that was near to her house (very far for me to drive) and had it transferred to their store. I'm so thankful that the employees here went out of their way to help me keep my pup happy and healthy while the food shortage continues. I will keep coming back to this location! read more

I don't ever write reviews good or bad. I feel that karma and the steady loss of business due to poor service speak for themselves, but after two very disappointing visits to the groomer at Pet Smart in a row I felt I had to try to save others the frustration I've felt. The first visit was to have my dad's dog groomed. It was a return visit for a pug nose dog and should automatically have been scheduled for an express appointment. Per their policy they don't kennel pug nose dogs. Upon dropping her off I was told it would be three hours, not express but not too bad. They had her for a full 6 hours. My father is elderly and in marginal health. He spent the entire day worrying about his dog due to the delays and lack of communication. Unacceptable!! The second time, about three weeks later, was an appointment for my dog. My wife made an appointment a week and a half in advance. When I showed up for the appointment they had nothing on the books for my dog and said they couldn't take him for another week. In both cases the person at the counter was very unapologetic and borderline rude. She is a young asian woman with gray/purple hair. The person managing this department is clearly not capable. To have these kinds of mistakes happening with regularity and having a staff that has zero customer service skills is a clear reflection on the leadership or lack thereof. I would avoid this location for your grooming needs. read more

Maybe sometimes, in the wintertime, probably January, I met this lady who had a golden retriever walking her dog in downtown Campbell at the Farmer's Market on a Sunday morning. I have a special place in my heart for golden retrievers because my dog is one. They all got the same look when they pant. They look like they are twinky dink dink * smiling *. No kidding. Check it out for yourself. Naturally, I approached her and petted her dog. This dog had super long hair and was extremely soft. I asked her about how she was able to handle the dog hair and keep him cool during the summer time. The stray hairs, she shrugged and said she just had to deal with it. The heat during the summer, she responded with, "A Summer Cut", which was, in her words, a haircut for dogs that don't normally get haircuts and need a shorter cut for the summer. Long story short. The normal Petsmart that I go to, which is the one off of Coleman Ave in San Jose was way too booked up. I took my dog here for his first Summer Cut along with a bath. I picked him up at 9pm. I took one glance at him and moaned...he looked like he gained 20 pounds. It looked like they took a hachet and did a chop chop chop randomly whever there was long length hair. He looked real funky. I tried to stiffle my laugh. I guess it's better for my dog, so that way he doesn't feel as hot. But, I Do Not like A Summer Cut on my dog. I am all out for the natural look. Because my dog has natural curls in his hair, one guy at a dog park even asked me if I took a curling iron and curled his hair. HAHAHAHA......you've got to be kidding me. I know people can have their dog's toenails painted and hair dyed different colors, but really...would someone take a curling iron and curl their dog's hair? read more

Nice store! Good selection of products. We had a positive experience here. We saw that crates were 25% off, but that was online only. Since it was online only, we showed it to the manager, who also applied it to our purchase even though it was an in-store purchase. We saw some of the staff play with the dogs while the owner shopped. Overall seems like a very nice store! The cashier was nice and chatted with us as well. read more

This is an older building it definitely shows that in the floors the walls The employees do go out of their way to make sure everything is clean and very nice and well stocked. We will come here to pick up that treats some pet food couple toys but nothing more than that if you're in the area we do recommend stopping here to get your essential needs for your wonderful bit. read more

This is where I get stuff for my cat...litter, food, treats, supplies, toys, etc. They have what I need, & it's reasonably priced. So, I go probably about once very month or two & stock up. When I have time, I like checking out the birds, rodents, & cats, even though I can only handle one pet for now--just looking! They have a section of horse stuff at this store too, which I'd never seen at a Petsmart before! I guess no one owns horses near the other locations I used to frequent.
