Upset is an understatement. We have had our dog boarded here quite a few times, and while there were some things we weren't thrilled about, he always came back fed and happy. This last time we boarded him at Pet's West (during the holidays) was so incredibly upsetting, I'm not even sure where to start. Our dog is essentially our child, which is the case for many pet owners, and we always make sure to drop him off with more than enough food, thorough instructions, and we make sure he has his bed from home so he feels comfortable. We typically always call to check on him, which was no different this past trip. We were told that he was doing great, loving play time, and eating great. We were happy to hear that and felt at ease. When we picked him up, we quickly realized that he did not have his bed for the entirety of his stay, and he was literally covered in scrapes, scratches, and a large "gash" on his side. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I was livid to find out that he had missed TWO meals. We had left an extra bag of food (as always, just in case) and he had not yet been fed for the night when we picked him up, so he should have only had two bags of food left. He had four bags left, which made zero sense. He either wasn't fed twice, or given another dog's food twice? I understand that having a lot of dogs, especially around the holidays, can be extremely overwhelming, but you quite literally have one job: keep the dogs healthy, safe, and fed. My husband and I tried to have an abundant amount of grace and tried to understand what could have happened, but that all went out the window when we called to notify the owner about how our dog was treated. He was immediately defensive saying it was normal for dogs to come back with scratches, and that sometimes dogs don't finish or eat their food from the previous meal, so they do not give them more food for the next meal (which makes zero sense to me). I can tell you that in the two years of our dog's life, he has never ONCE missed a meal, and he has never ONCE had an issue with eating while being boarded/traveling/etc. if you cannot manage a certain amount of dogs, or make sure they don't get attacked, don't board that many dogs at once! we never received any semblance of an, "I'm sorry", or, "I will take all of this information into account to better our customer experience". Lastly, our dog is fully up to date on all of his shots and check-ups, but we have never been asked for updated records or anything of the sort, which leads me to believe that there are plenty of dogs there that are unvaccinated. I have attached some pictures to show just how horrible he looked when we got him back (some of the scabs had fallen off when I gave him a bath). Whatever you do, just do not take your dog here. I'm mortified to think about what else my dog endured for a week.

My poor little guy after his stay at PetsWest

My dog still has anxiety from the boarding experience he had at this facility. They used to be a great place for everything and you could trust them to take care of your animals like they were their animals. Now I firmly believe if you let the new management/owners take care of your animals you just don't care about your animals. Sorry, I'm at the vet getting my dog a checkup and he is still so scared to even go with the vet techs to get his weight it's just sad. He was never like this until he stayed at Pets West Aledo. Keep your fur babies far away from this place until they get an owner that cares more about animals and less about overpacking the house to make an extra buck.

First time getting our puppies groomed and Rene did a great job! They went in looking like shaggy rugs and walked out looking like puppies. I will definitely take my puppies back to get groomed again.

Puppy's eye at pickup after 8 days boarding (no call to notify of a change received)

My dog spent 8 days boarding here. After promising to send pics and videos, we never received any. They are also supposed to wash your pet if they board for a week, which they did not do. We called to check on him 3 times and was told he was fine each time, but then when we picked him up he had an eye infection (red eye draining yellow gunk). When complaint was raised with them, they showed no concern, even suggesting the eye infection "could have been preexisting " (it was not, but if it had been they shouldn't accept dogs with visible contagious infections). If I could give negative stars I would. A staff member even told me when I called to complain that they had more animals than expected and didn't have time to check on them as often as they usually do. Ultimately, we should have been told that when we went to drop him off, and should have gotten a call as soon as his eye started getting red (it's in their papers when you sign up). They have declined to offer any sort of reimbursement for the boarding. He's been home 2 days and still not eating much so he may have to go back to the vet again from the poor care received here. The saddest part is they really had a terrible uncaring attitude that this happened.

Tired and happy dogs coming home from Pets west

We bring our 2 very high energy dogs (Shepard/lab and malinois) here often for boarding and day care. The pups always come home tired and happy. We just wanted to say that Colton is SO great with the dogs. He knows how to handle them and communicates well. All staff is good, but he is our favorite.

If you are looking for a top-notch place to board your horse, I strongly recommend 4 Hearts Ranch…read more I have boarded my horse here for four years, since its prior existence as the historic Wills Ranch. Hallie Martin and her excellent staff have spent the last 2.5 years bringing this venerable property back to life, and I could not be more pleased with the services provided and the vast improvements and renovations that continue to be made. My horse's stall and run are beautifully maintained. He always has fresh, fluffy bedding and plentiful clean water from his automatic waterer. His hay and feed are top quality and are stored safely. He is turned out daily, weather permitting. The multiple turnout pastures are huge. Proper herd management is a priority. Hallie decides where each horse goes to create the best possible herd life for every equine. The entrance gate is secured 24/7 with a keypad lock. In addition to providing wonderful care for the horses, Hallie wants her boarders to enjoy the gorgeous property as well. She has cut trails through the ranch, which also boasts a creek and large fields for good runs. The large indoor arena is well-lit and professionally leveled. There is an outdoor arena as well. Boarders can relax in the cozy lounge. In-house trainers in multiple disciplines offer their services to help you and your horse meet and exceed your performance goals. Hallie is responsive to the boarders and truly looks after our horses as if they were her own. Her horses receive the very same care given to the boarded ones. One afternoon my horse was acting a "little off" in the pasture, and she stayed with him until I could check on him. He turned out to be fine, but I rest easier knowing she and the staff are keeping a close eye when I can't be there. If I have a question or an issue, all I need to do is bring it up to Hallie or Assistant Manager Laura, and I get a prompt, pleasant, professional response. When an issue arises, Hallie and her staff respond immediately. The ranch is beautiful, but the health and happiness of the horses are the top priority. Speaking as an owner who requires full board, I firmly believe my horse would not be any safer, happier, or healthier anywhere else besides 4 Hearts. 4 Hearts is blessed with many long-term and newer boarders who are happy to call 4 Hearts their barn home. The ranch has a consistently high occupancy rate. If you are considering boarding your horse at 4 Hearts, do your research. Take the opportunity to visit with some of the good folk here. Talk to Hallie. More importantly, talk to your local vet. Talk to your farrier. They know the facility and the owner and can give you unbiased feedback. Bonus: there are friendly barn cats and gorgeous peacocks to add to the welcoming atmosphere. This is a very happy place for horses and boarders alike.
