For my money, living in Tucson and having access to some excellent, affordable ranges, the only appeal would be ease of full auto permission. Not worth the drive up, there are not a lot of permanent structures/ amenities...and membership is expensive.

My brother previously had attended this course and highly recommended Arizona Home Defense and Virgil. I called and spoke with the instructor, Virgil, who was able to get hubs and I booked into class the very next evening. yay! We showed up and Virgil had everyone's paperwork set up, so we could start filling everything out for the background check and fingerprints before class, which was awesome so we wouldn't have to sit there after the course to get everything done. The course itself was great -- short, sweet, to the point. Virgil gave us the information quickly and thoroughly covered required materials. He has a lot of experience/knowledge in guns overall and has a great sense of humor, however, if you offend easily, wear earmuffs or quietly bleep all the f-bombs in your head while he talks. I, personally, thought he was hilarious and the f-bombs didn't bother me (military guys use it 17 times in a sentence with 25 words, haha). After the course we got our fingerprints taken and were on our way, completed paperwork in hand (YOU have to mail the paperwork in for the CCW card but all instructions are included with your packet). I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to take a CCW class... you'll thank me later that you didn't spend an excruciating whole day training on material that Virgil can deliver to you in one evening.

Huge shout out again to Scott and the team for going the extra mile and making sure we had a great experience. Highly recommended and will be back.

July 12 visit. A wonderful place! I went with my family of various ages, teenagers and adults and…read moremy mother; and we were all able to have our own lanes to shoot, we had our own guns, but also we were able to rent other guns. We shot targets for an hour and it was amazing because we enjoyed learning new things and I was able to show my family some techniques that they don't know as they don't go to gun ranges to try out new pistols in New York City. My reason for the 4 stars is... it just would be nice if the staff would offer a quick little safety reminder of Tips to people. Even start just some basic guidelines on the rules of the facility, not necessarily how to shoot a gun, but how to be safe in the space; that way, you don't have to be spoken to, but more importantly, it would be a nice addition just to feel more comfortable. Finally, the gentleman who checked us in was attentive, knowledgeable, and a delight. I would definitely do this more when I have guest come from out of town who have never had this experience.

My husband took the Carbine 1 class on Friday Sept.16 2022…read more He's been shooting for around 30 years and this was his first training course! He said he was nervous when he first showed up, not knowing what to expect . After meeting the other attendees (Both had already taken this class with Oz,but wanted to refresh their skills) he said he felt at ease. Oz, the instructor, was great. He offered my husband some items that he didn't have in case he needed them. After zeroing the firearms, they practiced malfunctions and did some simple drills. Oz is a great communicator and led the class at the perfect pace to absorb the material. His take away from the experience is now he feels he has the tools to practice and become more efficient at handling my rifle. He highly recommends taking a class from Oz. When we are back in the winter, he will definitely be taking more courses from him! Karin was awesome as well! Thank you Oz and Karin! Joel was super happy when he got home and told me all about it!

Thankfully, everything worked out great for both of us. My boyfriend loved it, and it was such a great fun and learning experience. The owner went through everything in detail and helped guide us along the way. They had the outfits to accommodate our sizes. I'm usually 16-18 (5'4) and the pants fit perfect which is nice not having to worry about that. Parking is a bit small, but I don't imagine you would have a hard time parking and the business is tucked away in the back. If this type of thing genuinely interest you, I don't see you being disappointed with your experience I would warn that doing this during the summer, the experience is held in a garage type and it's pretty warm. Even tho we are offered water you're so focused and having fun it's easy to forget. We both run warm and it would have been nice to have a much cooler space to move around in. My favorite thing is, at the end The owner really took his time to get some fun and incredible shots of us and I just really felt that wrapped up the experience so well for me. The thought he put into it is just really sweet. We look like we are coming from the purge or a zombie apocalypse, lol I hope you enjoy yourself as much as we did

From the moment we started, Michael was clear, direct, and incredibly helpful. He explained everything in a way that made it easy to understand, whether you're brand new or more experienced. What stood out most was how encouraging and honest he was. His feedback wasn't just generic praise it was specific, constructive, and genuinely designed to help us improve. And when we did improve, he was just as excited as we were. That kind of energy makes all the difference. This experience goes far beyond the activity itself. It forces you to communicate clearly, trust one another, and stay calm under pressure. For families, it's powerful. For marriages, it's eye-opening in the best way you quickly see how you handle stress and how important strong communication really is. And for teams? It's invaluable. It highlights leadership, listening skills, problem-solving, and collaboration in real time. Honestly, I don't know why more companies aren't doing this regularly. It's one of the most practical and engaging team building experiences we've ever done. Whether your group is small or large, this is something every team can benefit from. Strongly, strongly recommend AZ Tactical and if you can request Michael as your instructor, do it. You won't regret it!

Mike starts out with the philosophy of the Warrior Mindset and then shows how every aspect of life should be approached with this mindset.
