I've been to several gun stores in north Phoenix but they all seemed cold and distant, not caring if you bought anything or not, and certainly not caring if you had any clue about what you were buying. Jeff is the go-to guy there at CCG, always willing to help a customer. When he sensed I was new at all this he took the time to explain things to me, and helped me understand my options. I was at the range a couple days ago with my Glock 17 and I wound up getting a live cartridge stuck backwards in the barrel. I racked the slide a couple of times hoping that it would drop out on its own, but that didn't work. Now it's a major problem, not to mention the imminent danger. I called around some local gunsmiths and found the guys at Cave Creek Guns to see if they could fix this. George (the owner) said no problem, come on by and he'll take a look. Was searching for some time for a particular and limited firearm (P229 Legion SAO). Hesitated on calling Cave Creek Guns due to me living quite the distance from them. Cave Creek Guns ended up having it, so I made the trip. Upon arrival, I was helped by Bud. Even though I knew exactly what I wanted, Bud was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. There was another gentleman working as well, but I did not catch his name (owner/boss?). Anyway, Bud and Cave Creek Guns made me feel comfortable with their knowledge and customer service. I ended up leaving with more than I originally came in for too, thanks to Buds help. While their shop is not the largest, they do have a selection that could accommodate everyone (entry level to high end). They even had ammo stocked in these crazy times! I needed some TruGlo Night Sights installed on my G19 Gen 4. So I looked up the tools and steps necessary to do the change up. Tools, too many to list (and pricey) and steps seems a bit tedious especially if you don't have the right tools. So I decided to look up a GunSmith. And I'm glad I did. Found these gentlemen on Yelp. Not only did install the sights same day with a few hours but the price so ridiculously low that I won't even mention it. I walked into this store in November of 2020 with my family with the intent to look at some guns, and within a 5 minute period, an employee who was handling a gun behind the counter had pointed it directly at a number of us, numerous times while carelessly showing it to another customer. The lack of regard for safety was absurd and we couldn't believe it was happening. Both a male and female employee did this while showing weapons to customers. What a fantastic place! These guys are great! George one of the owners I assume helped me out today with my AR 15 mis firing issue I had with a rifle I didn't even buy from them! He helped with an o ring I took out and suggested it go back in & he had one in the shop. He then inspected the AR 15 & said the upper & lower fit was not as tight as should be from manufacture so he suggested if still having FTF ammo issues on all new ammo I should call the factory CSR & send the gun back since it is only 9 months old. George was great I just walked in today for help, never charged me for his time or the o ring. I plan on having them be my go to for all my gun issues! They are honest & very helpful! I visited this shop for the first time today to inquire about their gun smith services and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they could accommodate my request free of charge. Because of this, I decided to purchase a BTE free float hand guard that George had put on and ready to go in under 45 minutes. All said and done I paid much less than my research had made me anticipate and I am really glad I came in. Other shops would probably take one look at an inexperienced guy like me and see dollar signs. Not here. These guys were extremely helpful, friendly and honest. Went to a few places to see about getting a self ripped screw removed from a red dot. Another place quoted me $60-$80 and said if I wanted it done the same day it would be double. Called Cave Creek Guns and they quoted me $15-$20. Took it in and they removed the screw and remounted my red dot for $20 and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Ok so I stopped by and spoke to Josh, very knowledgable. The next day I came by and asked Josh to put my 16" 300 BlkOut upper together for me. I brought the parts in and in no time he was done. He even cautioned me that the adjustable gas block that I purchased from a high end supplier is probably gonna cause issues. Walked in expecting to leave my Colt LE for at least a night to get my castle nut unstaked, buffer tube and end plate swapped, and have my new assembly restaked. Other customers were already being helped but it took only a few minutes before I was approached and asked how I could be helped. I explained what I needed done to my rifle and without hesitation the gentleman who was assisting me uncased my rifle, separated the lower from the upper and took into the back to get straight to work. He came back 2 minutes later with my reassembled lower and did a quality stake job on the castle nut in that short time. Best of all, he told me he wouldn't charge me a single cent. The employees at Cave Creek guns are nothing short of skilled professionals and that's why this will be where I take all of my firearms in the future. I HIGHLY recommend this shop due to their quick and quality work, even during the pandemic when anything firearms related is running wild. Also, it is worth mentioning that as I was getting back into my car happy with the service I just received, 2 fully uniformed US Army soldiers unloaded their rifles from their trunk and walked into the shop (I would most likely guess they were taking their rifles there to be worked on as well). All the more reason to trust these guys with your firearms if soldiers who depend on their rifles for duty are taking their weapons to them as well. read more
