Breakfast is served all day, coffees are refilled faster than you can ask for one (looking at you, Mr. Pink), and milkshakes are spun the old fashioned way. From the iconic neon sign to the lively wait staff (who are certainly characters), Pete's is definitely a Denver institution. And the food, contrary to many other wannabees along Colfax, delivers. We (group of 5) came here after doing an escape room. It was just after 10p on a Saturday so naturally, it was busy. Luckily, not too busy yet as we were seated within 5 minutes. However, the table they were going to seat us at was still dirty. Ok, no big deal as they are busy. Our server was nice, but not really attentive while we there because it seemed that she was busy smoking with others in the back where they left the door open and cigarette smoke wafted in the entire time we were there. I ordered a french dip and the beef was so dry that it seemed like I was eating jerky. My friends meals were just as disappointing. While we were eating, we noticed tables opening up, but the employees just walked by them without cleaning them until a party came in and they needed the table. When we went to pay up front, there were 3 employees who were either on their phones or talking to one another showing one another things on their phones. They saw us but decided that their phones were more important for the next 3 minutes. I am a Denver native and have grown up going to Pete's Kitchen and have always loved it, but after this visit, I doubt I will return. read more

Cute diner moment! We randomly came to Pete's kitchen, as we were driving by and they had ample parking. When arriving we were quickly seated by the door. We waited a bit for someone to take our order and bring us water. We got our food and they were pretty decent portions! I had the BBQ burger, which was pretty good - very Smokey. Overall, it was a great experience but it wasn't bad. There were a couple of people walking in from Colfax asking for change and yelling at times but they didn't distract from the food, they sorta just came in and out. I've visited this restaurant a few times in the past year. Typically, the service is amazing and the food is on par for the price. However, I would like to express my concerns for how this place operates when it's 24/7 on the weekend nights. It takes a really long time to receive my food and the team running the restaurant was extremely rude. I don't see this as a reflection on the team but rather management. Please know that your establishment does get high volume in the after midnight hours and your scheduling should reflect that. The happy quick serviced team during the day turns into a overworked frustrated team during the night hours. I really hate to write this review but seeing the workers struggle to even remember what tables food goes to along with the drooping eye bags is just heartbreaking to me. Please fix this. read more

Super disappointed in the last two visits at our beloved Pete's Kitchen. We have eaten here for over 30 years and it was always quick, efficient, consistent and GOOD. This was our staple where you could always count on to be entertained and filling and yummy. I'm not sure what happened - but it took us 35 minutes to receive our food. I received my coffee after ten minutes. We ordered two chef's specials and the over easy eggs were so runny and raw- I couldn't stomach it- the hash browns were good- so that's nice-- and I actually ordered French toast with it and the insides were stone cold- I did get a refill of coffee which was nice. I'm not sure if the waitstaff is undertrained- or just didn't care- and also the woman who was at the cash register was either really stressed or decided she hated her job and could barely look up from her adding the sales on the calculator tape-- We sat down at 835 pm and had the food delivered at 910 pm and ate what we could and didn't receive our bill until 940 pm. Had to wait at the register till she calculated the sales and finally we were able to leave. The last experience was similar to this time. I think we need to put a Hard Paise on this place and believe me- we loved Pete's since I can remember and there is no love lost now. read more
