Pete's is an institution! I have been going here since I was a child. We went on a Sunday morning and we were greeted with diner delicious aromas, a warm and friendly environment, and despite being busy, a warm welcome. We were promptly seated, ordered and food came out as fresh as can be and super quickly! You cannot beat the prices. The turkey melt and fish fillet sandwiched were cooked to perfection, the bread grilled with butter to absolute perfection. Both sandwiches were mouth watering good. We left full as can be, and only paid 30$! The fries were crispy and fried goodness. Pete's has a lot on the menu and everything I've ever tried has always been delicious. Pete's was really good. Plenty of seating, private parking... prices are on par with the times. I got the vegetarian omelette with an English muffin. Delicious! And they make their own hot sauce. SO good. The servers weren't necessarily rude, but it did feel a bit like... just unwelcoming. I mean.. what can you say about Pete's? It's a Denver institution. This diner has been around forever and is well loved by all. There is a line every weekend out the door for seating, but it moves pretty quickly. You can usually find a seat at the counter too if needed. The breakfast burritos is usually the fan favorite and its my standard order. It's smothered in green chili. The chili could use some heat, but it's really the combo of bacon, eggs, crispy potatoes in an extra large tortilla smothered in chili with more cheese that does it for me. The service is always friendly and you see all walks of life in here. I've spent many nights after the bars closed getting a burrito to soak up some alcohol. Every visit makes me feel nostalgic and a little homesick for my youth. Glad to know Pete's is still serving up the goods! read more

We came here at the suggestion of my friend who now lives in Denver and we were planning to meet up after 20 years! She said it was a Denver staple. We got there and the place is an old fashion diner that has been around since 1942 and I would guess their cash register is original. It was super old and very cool. Nothing fancy here but it just gives you the warm feeling of nostalgia while you're there. The service was friendly and quick. Ben ordered the corned beef hash and I built my own omelet with sausage, mushrooms and cheese. It came out amd tasted as expected. Pete's Kitchen is a place I've passed by many times and the nostalgic sign gives it away from the outside what kind of place it is. How can one not love a diner vibe every now and then? Forget the bougie once and a while and get to choose from a huge menu, get a big plate of food, and pay half the price as you would at a pricey place. But, also realizing there may be fewer scratch-made items, and more Sisco stuff, it's all a give and take. My friend was going for a soup & salad, but they didn't have soup for the day for some reason. However, they had a couple of chilis! When pondering green or red chili, the server asked without hesitation if my friend wanted to get a taste of each - now that's a diner! They would *never* offer that up in a "regular" restaurant. We both got the chance to taste them (I personally like mixing them together - hah). She went with the red and a greek salad which looked wonderful when it came out. As much as I wanted to be healthy, I was really craving something hearty and one of my go-to's is a good ole patty melt, so that's what I went with. Inside they have one side as the "diner side" seating and then a sort of extended, covered patio side on the other. There aren't alcoholic beverages, so just know that before going in case you're in the mood for an adult drink, but there are several booze providers in the area that you could go after Pete's! I had a hankering for gyro-amazing food and was looking to P's D to satisfy my cravings. I ordered the gyro salad, and my D W ordered the gyro sandwich with side salad. Pete's D came through with a delicious monster size salad, with loads of gyro meat (oh-yeh) piled on top, and pita, plus tzatziki sauce on the side. The Greek dressing that came with the salad was Greek enough for me to want to smash a couple of plates on the floor ( the waitress wasn't cool with that).$ Q R codes are used to check out the menu for contactless ordering, and it was a simply beautiful day to sit outside and eat on the side of the restaurant. Went during lunch time Thursday, got the cowboy burger MR with fries and absolutely loved it. They have such a range of options but can't go wrong with a diner burger. This is the first time I've been there post pandemic. I had the Fish & Chips, my friend had the Mexican Hamburger. He enjoyed his meal as well. We got there about a hour before closing and I think the waitress was a little frazzled. She took our order, and started to walk away, I mentioned to my friend don't you want a coffee or something, he ordered a Diet Coke, and I was going to ask for one as well, but she walked away. Now during the meal she check on us a couple of times. Halfway through the meal, I hear the cashier tell the waitress that she needs to close out the register. Now this is a good 20 minutes before closing, the waitress came over and put the check down and let me know I needed to pay now, as the cashier can't leave until we are settled. We left about 10 minutes later, said thank you to the staff up front, tried the door, it was locked. I asked the cashier, and she said she told me to use the other door. She must not had been very loud because I couldn't hear her. This would be a 5 star review, but as you see a few things knocked it down to a 4. Maybe if I were to try again, when there not in a hurry to close, my experience would be better. read more

The Special was the breakfast burrito--we didn't read that it was smothered but no matter, it was still pretty good. I've heard about Petes before but never made it in until now. It's a fun little old school diner that really takes you back. Service is good, menu is huge and food is reasonably priced. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted. I felt bad because the server came by a couple times before I was ready to order - the menu is quite expansive. I ordered a combo with eggs and added a pancake- why not? I asked for the eggs to be over medium and the toast to be heated but not toasted. One egg met my definition of medium, the other was kind of undercooked- even the white was a little runny. The bread was also over toasted in my opinion but then I looked at someone else's and it was much darker so maybe that's standard. The pancake was HUGE and fluffy and the potatoes were amazing, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Server was constantly coming by to refill the coffee and although food came out quickly and she handed me my check, I didn't feel rushed. I suppose if you are really hungover & are in the area, then this might be an OK choice, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. There is an overall feeling of being unclean. The menus, salt & pepper shakers etc. on the table felt like they have not been wiped down in quite some time. The floors were pretty dirty with crumbs etc. My coffee had a weird taste and smell, like it was made with dirty water or their coffee pots were dirty, Our food, pancakes, eggs & hash browns all had a strange taste as well. Almost like the flat top has not been cleaned in a very long time & so our food all had remains of years of other foods that were made before. Our server was really nice and kept checking on us & that was the only reason I gave a 2nd star. I would certainly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

The fries here are really something else! We've been talking about trying Pete's Kitchen for months and finally stopped in for a late night dinner. Awesome neighborhood vibes here and love that there is a parking lot. We got the chicken kabob sandwich and an order of french toast. The sandwich was good, although an absolute mess to eat (pita was broken in multiple spots and could not be picked up), but the fries were crispy and delicious. The french toast did not have much flavor at all and was pretty disappointing. It took us quite a while to get service. Once our server came over, she apologized and insisted she grab us some fountain drinks on the house. We are typically water people, but obliged. The fountain drinks (oj and a dr. pepper) were not drinkable -- tasted like straight syrup -- but we did not care since they were free. The next morning, I realized we were absolutely charged for the fountain drinks (~$7-8), which is why our bill seemed so high for two entrees (bills are not itemized). I called Pete's Kitchen to ask if they could confirm what we were charged for and to adjust the transaction from the card swipe less than 12 hours prior, and they said they could not do anything. It may have been an honest mistake, but rubbed me the wrong way, since a customer really does not know what they're paying for without and itemized receipt, and we would not have gotten drinks had our server not insisted.
