Comfort food is my jam lately, and Athenian offers this not only in their food, but atmosphere and service. The people of Athenian make us feel like family. To top that, the food from appetizers, main courses, and desserts, everything hits just right. I love it here; the food and the people. Thank you for always be on spot with delicious food and even better company. Happy New Year!!

Just back from a greek island cruise and wanted to find a great greek restaurant nearby that had the feeling and tasted authentic to our recent overseas experience. The Athenian was definitely it. To start the ambience is wonderfully done with a lot of care in the decor. Enjoyed a glass of greek white wine which I highly recommend experiencing. And they played background greek music which set a fine mood. A family run business the menu for lunch was a good selection of greek specialties. The chef's platter gives you a marvelous sampler of greek items. As others note the quantities gave us a big togo box even after a masterful attempt at eating everything. And to top it off, the baklava was homemade and delicious! Only possible disappointment was the gyros meat and chicken pieces from the Souvlaki were dryer than expected. We'll be back for a dinner to see if that's consistent preparation. Definitely recommend a visit!

What a fun place with great food and a friendly staff. Walking into the dining room felt like what I'd imagine a small Greek restaurant in Greece would feel like. It was very welcoming and the kitchen smelled so good as we walked by. Nico was our server and he was very kind and made us feel welcome. They have great lunch meals and the prices are very reasonable. Everything on the menu looked delicious and I was so happy with my mousaka! I plan on returning soon!

Easily my favorite restaurant in the Denver area. I always look forward to coming here, and I can't wait to come back soon after I leave. This was my first time to bring a daughter here, and we enjoyed everything we ate. The saganaki is a delicious treat and perfect for two people to split. We each ordered the Grecian platter for our entrees. Dolmades, gyro, spanakopita, and tiropita are all delicious. With five triangles of spanakopita and tiropita, it's maybe a bit too much filo dough for me, but it was all yummy and filling. My daughter got the hummus as well, which was fantastic. We tried the baklava for the first time. Unlike the saganaki, it wasn't easy to split and ended up being kind of messy. Tasted good though! Service is really a highlight. You can tell it's a family-run restaurant, as many different people will greet and check in on you during the meal. And everything comes out fast too. As I've said before, it's more like eating dinner at a close family friend's house than it is being at a restaurant. Just can't say enough good things about the Athenian. While I wish they were closer, I don't hesitate to drive the 20 miles to get there.

Even though this is in my neighborhood, I have never tried this family-owned restaurant and am glad I did. We stopped in after attending a funeral service for a friend's father. Our waitress was kind and very understanding. She paced our meal out so we could debrief and enjoy our appetizer and drinks and put our entrees in later since meals are prepared quickly. She said, "I treat my customers how I would like to be treated." The trio dip was a good sampler with hummus, spicy feta, tzatziki, and plenty of pita. Lunch is served until 3:00pm. I chose the Chicken Kabob Salad which was very filling with tender chicken breast served over a Greek salad with homemade Greek dressing and more pita and dolmades on the side. Multiple Greek busts and statues adorn the walls and shelves to transport you to the Greek Acropolis.

Staff was very friendly and the food was very yummy and filling! Nice seating and decorations around the restaurant and the food felt very authentic. We got the mousaka and the lemon chicken, both were delicious! Definitely coming back in the future.

I had some visiting friends come into town for lunch. So Athenian came to mind. I believe one of the nicest restaurants in Aurora not being a chain restaurant. I ordered my usual kitchen gyros sandwiche and lemon rice soup. I have to say though the gyros are filling and tasty I do love the soup. The service as always is pleasant and their Greek ambiance is always pleasant to see. I think I see something new each time as there are many hidden gems. Mind you this is the restaurant that cooked me a meal after closing because the closing times were incorrect online. Though I told them not to. They did anyway. Forever indebted.

We had great take out from the Athenian Restaurant. The ordering was super quick over the phone and once we arrived our food was ready to go! Our gyros were very good and there seemed to be a large quantity of meat and sides. I'd definitely go back for the great portion and taste! The only downside is that the prices are quite high for a take out meal. It was good food wise but not sure the price matches for a takeout meal. Overall, great service and great food!

Ordered takeout and it was speedy! Food was delicious- authentic, healthy, and way more than I could finish in 1 meal. Def going back!

The Chefs Platter was perfect for two people. Fresh quality food. Definitely Greek sized portions, we needed a to go box!

Great food. As close to dining in Greece as you can get in Denver. Awesome service. Fresh food. Will definitely be back.

Best falafel ever. Funky, old school ambience. Haven't eaten a lot here though. I read their Greek salad's the best so I'll try that next.

The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The food is fantastic and the portions are generous. Prices are very reasonable. We shared the Baba Ganoush to start. This is pureed, baked eggplant. Here tahini and pomegranate molasses were added. I am not a big eggplant fan, but this was phenomenal. The presentation was gorgeous with the puree spread out beautifully on a large dish, topped with olives, paprika, parsley, and a very generous dollop of delicious olive oil. An outstanding version of this dish. We received a large plate of very fresh pita triangles to go with the baba ganoush. These were great. We definitely used them to scrape every speck of eggplant off that platter! We both ordered the Gyro Plate. The gyro meat was very authentic, extremely tender, and very flavorful. The plate included a large tower of savory rice, a rich tzatziki sauce, a nice side of silky hummus, some pickled vegetables, and more pita. Another delicious offering and a huge portion. We also had soup as the entrees come with soup or salad. My friend tried the lentil soup and said it was flavorful and tasty. I had the tomato soup which was hardy and richly-flavored. This was a great meal. There's a pastry case with a choice of many Middle Eastern desserts. My friend selected several to take home and we staggered out of the restaurant with lots of leftovers that will make a delightful lunch tomorrow. A wonderful experience.

Plastic plants and bathrooms located behind storage shelves along with a view of a liquor store across the parking lot don't make for a romantic setting. The salad was crisp and tasty, the saffron rice was delicious, and the grilled chops were downright wonderful. Overall: 4/5.
