I visited a friend the other day and stopped in to Petco with her. I'm not from the area and am a big fan of tarantulas and regardless of what pet store I'm at I usually gravitate to them. So I see they have a handful of tarantulas and I want to get one. I flagged down an employee who sed only the manger could help me with the animal. Ok never had that problem anywhere else but ok. So he says he'll be right with me... we wander and wait for almost 20 min. Manager comes over and says I see you're interested in getting one of our tarantulas. I say yes and he proceeds to say "unfortunately we are done selling animals for the night and that I'd have to come back tomorrow". I literally was like are you joking?! He sed no I'm not I just used the last of my time to help someone with a hamster and I have to tend to the animals in the back befor I run out of time. It was only 7:15pm. They close at 9pm. I asked if someone else could help me. He sed no because no one there is trained to handle the animals. (I've quite literally purchased animals 10 min before closing and someone anyone has always helped me) I asked if I could purchase the tarantula and then retrieve it on my own if they unlocked and gave me a box he sed "Sorry no we don't allow that" (Again I've done it befor multiple times-sometimes because an employee was terrified of touching the spiders) So I leave annoyed and confused and kinda ticked off that I waited when I was told I was gonna be helped. Didnt think I was gonna be back the next day but there I was picking up dog food bright and early with my friend and we stop in again. I walk up to Franco and ask if he could help me out with the purchase of an animal. "No problem" he says. Another employee helps me with filling out paperwork and Franco asks if I have the proper set up. I let him know I'm a keeper of Ts as I call them and he lets me know he's the general manager. So I ask him some questions regarding the day before. I told him it would've taken not even 5 mins to collect the tarantula cause at that very moment the employee who helped me with paper work came back in less than 5min with the T I requested and sed she was so calm and cooperative. He apologized for the employees rudeness and lack of customer service aswell as for me having to come all the way back out (I live near west la). Customers beware. Ever since manager La Shaan left, this Petco grooming salon seems to be falling apart. I was nervous about booking my dog's first appointment without her regular groomer. Before scheduling, I spoke with Samantha, who reassured me that she remembered my dog and knew how her previous groomer always groomed her. That gave me enough confidence to book. On the day of the appointment, I spoke directly with her and we specifically agreed not to shave my dog down. I asked for about an inch off all over and explained that I understood if her underside needed to be shaved because I had felt a few mats there. That was the only area I expected to be shaved. Instead, I picked up my dog hours early to find she had been given a full buzz cut. The only fur left was on her tail (which still had mats) and a rounded "dome" on her head. There was no blending, tapering, or feathering just harsh, blunt transitions between her body, tail, and head. I was honestly shocked. After processing what happened, I called to speak with a manager and hopefully find a resolution. I ended up speaking with Franco. Rather than trying to understand my concerns, his responses felt dismissive and argumentative. He repeatedly asked questions like, "Is that okay, or is that not okay?" when I simply agreed to wait for a callback. He told me someone would follow up within 20 minutes, but that turned into well over an hour. When he finally called back, I was told there was nothing they could do because I had supposedly "agreed to shave her." WhenI specifically emphasized that I didn't want her shaved down, only trimmed by about an inch, except for the underside if necessary due to matting. Samantha had even tried to convince me to shave her beforehand, and I clearly declined. Mistakes happen, but what really disappointed me was the complete lack of accountability and customer service afterward. Instead of listening or trying to make things right, they dismissed my concerns. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this grooming salon. Save yourself the disappointment and take your pet somewhere that values communication and stands behind its work. read more

I placed an online order for some turtle food and when I arrived my two item order was not fully fulfilled but after some negotiation we got it fixed and I was on my way. I wish the online app gave better inventory because I would've made that same order elsewhere. Now I have to place another order soon to make sure my turtle has food before he hibernates for the winter. They have all kinds of things for many different pets but I didn't wonder around. I was there for a pickup for my ordered goods. The have a large parking area if you want to check them out. read more

I came here to pick up some stuff for my betta fish and when I walked into the fish section I was honestly taken back by how awful some of them looked. There was one who was completely deceased and had already floated to the bottom of the cup and another one who couldn't even swim due to how bloated it was. I kept walking around and found a big tank full of assorted fish and when I looked closer there was a rather large dead fish who had gotten stuck in the filter sticking out. Also the crickets were in a big trash can and the mesh they have covering the hole was open. This place is disgusting, I couldn't even pick up the things I needed because of how disturbed I was. Since I was going to be closer to this location I decided to pick up items at this location. I did an On Line pick up order and the young girl that helped me took a personal phone call cursing at the person saying the F- word. Totally unprofessional! I was completely undecided on which kibble to buy when I was trying to choose between 3 brands, and an employee around the corner of an aisle was kind enough to notice and offer his help. He was patient enough to talk me through each brand and get to know the food I had/was giving my pup. He was super knowledgeable, transparently informative, and gave honest feedback on brands that were more higher in protein, that changing foods too much can hurt a dog's digestion (which I had no idea), & how and why Costco's kibble is as cost-effective as it is since I was curious about that. When I asked him his name, his name was Robert, and later as I was checking out, found out he was actually their store's Manager. No wonder! read more

Horrible experience! As soon as I walked in the door, I saw that the cashier line had 8 people in it. DMV atmosphere. I asked the cashier was there anyone to help me find a specific product and check to see if more of another product in the back since the shelf area was empty. She replied there are 2 others (associates) on the sales floor. I walked around and finally found one individual. I showed him a picture of the product I was looking for. He barely wanted to take notice of the picture I was showing him and told me that all sprays are on aisle 34. Shampoos were on aisle 34 not the product I was looking for. Since I was getting zero help from any of the employees there, I decided to go on my own expedition and find what I was looking for. 20 minutes later I succeeded and found "Spray & Go". While I was paying for my items, the cashier explained to me that there was a special going on with online ordering and I abruptly stopped her. I told her that I will be shopping online "Amazon" from now on since I get more help, more professionalism and an eagerness for those online companies to retain my business. Desiree failed to show for a private puppy training class. She not only didn't show, she also didn't attempt to contact me to let me know she couldn't make it. Jesse, the store manager, was apologetic when I called and issued a refund (that I had to go to the store to process - he forgot). Unfortunate for the store, as I was going to register for a 6 session private training class for my puppy, following the introductory session. It's a loss of revenue for the store of several hundred dollars, but maybe that's not a big deal for Petco. read more

The service here has always been on point and everyone has always been so nice. We came here to pick up our online orders a few times, customers could choose curbside no touch pick up option during this time. Since we wore masks and gloves so we just went in to pick our orders up. They limited how many customers to go in on a Saturday but not a Sunday the other time we went. Store workers all wore masks and gloves at all times, they were pleasant and helpful too. Glad to see the store was fully stocked and workers were asking if anyone needed help the entire time. I've been coming here for a while and also noticed the groomer using their phones while doing other dogs. However I still trusted when I shouldn't have. Please be aware, my poor baby got 9 stitches after THE groomer CUT my dog! This is unacceptable. She still charged me like nothing happened and when I was looking for money to tip her, she said "oh btw your dog had a scab that fell off while I was giving him a shower!" She did not take responsibility for cutting my baby and I can tell this happened when she was barely starting because she didn't finish the cut I'm sure she was busy tying so hard to stop the bleeding. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY FOR VACCINATIONS OR ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH VETERINARY TREATMENTS. Took my puppy of 8weeks for his 2nd doses of vaccines along with his paperwork showing he already had his 4 weeks vaccines. They gaved him his shots and said they will email me his record. Upon receiving his record I checked it and these unprofessional people gave him the 4 weeks vaccines again. Next morning I went to a REAL pet clinic and they told me that Petco has gotten so many complaints for their lack of communication with the animals record. Believe me i told then the so called "Veterinarian" was on the phone during the whole appointment talking about her party and the guests. No wonder it's a 10min appointment. Never again... read more

Let me preface the story by stating that this is on the so-called professional lead groomer. We had never had an issue with getting our dog bathed here. They always seemed to push the vital care plan but I always managed to respectfully decline. Well this last time they really scared me enough to make the payment. Not only was I not given a wrong estimate, they called me within 5 minutes of leaving my dog behind and saying he was so seriously matted that they were going to shave down completely albeit when I was there, they said it was unlikely and they'd try to use oils. Well I highly doubt they did because they waited for me to drive away to call me. I do have to say it was the lead's fault because as soon as we went in, she immediately said "he's getting a shave down" we are not going to brush that. I had no issues the month prior with the other girl who took her time and left him beautifully. This one answered by saying "I've been doing this for 22 years." Ok well I didn't ask how long it took you to go to dog grooming school and earn a BA I mean a certificate. I was asking if it was necessary. Jeanette or Janet I believe was her name. She should've taken at least a ethics or any public speak course for that matter to learn some soft skills. They managed to suck $168 out of me and pushed vital care on me. I will be reporting this to the BBB and other consumer agencies. They are too lazy to groom them and opt for shaving. Why charge me an extra $45 for extra brushing time if you shaved anyway? STAY AWAY from here if you intend to have your dog's hair cut. This store lacks inventory, usually have to order pick up for the store in La Habra or online. Came here this week for dog treats and calming aid for my little one. First they didn't have much to offer and the brand that usually works was sold out. The treats I buy for my cat were also sold out yet online the store offer for pick up. I brought my dog here for their mobile vet services. My dog was up for her shots. They staff at the register was nice. The only reason for the two star. But the vet that was working with Vetco, Dr.hall, was extremely rude. And very condescending. The way she spoke to me was unacceptable. I tried to remain calm but the more she spoke in her rude tone the more irritated I got. Eventually I threw attitude back at her. I refuse to go back. I called to see if I could get my follow up appointment with a different vet. I was told that they rotate and she can't guarantee that I will not have Dr. Hall at the next visit. Definitely cancelled my appointment and found a different vet. She needs to learn how to speak to people. We are not the expert. Nothing wrong with the store it's self. But the Vetco was the most stupid experience of my life and an hour of my life I will never get back. I did a walk in for a 4 month old puppy. I do not own the dog, the parents asked I take him in for vaccinations. I filled out the forms and when it was my turn they asked how long I have had the dog for. As to which I answered about 8 hours. I was turned away and told I have to have a dog for 7 days before getting him vaccinated... he's not sick, normal stool, normal eating, normal breathing. So now I need to look elsewhere last minute when we just need a quick shot. This should be at minimum stated on their website or verbalized to me before I waited and filled out forms. read more

Worst experience!!!! Came here to look for a new tank for our gold fish and my daughter wanted a new fish so we found one she wanted. The associate who assisted us said he would not sell us that fish and that it was not going to happen.
