I can't believe I am only adding a review for My Dog Spot. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know any of the employees by name but I can say that all the employees have a great attitude. They are very accommodating to scheduling appointment (for those with 3+) dogs. They are great with foolow up calls or texts. I've never been unhappy with the services. read more

I've been going here for about 2 years now. The last time was so bad for my pup. She came home with some cuts, sha had so many scabs on her bottom. Her tail had a cut. It got infected we had to take her to the vet. From so much licking and biting the area she ended up with a bald spot. . This happened about 2 months ago. I wasn't going to leave a review but figured this would help someone in the future. The picture I'm posting is a couple of weeks from when it happened and healing. read more

I took my Dog to get groomed a few times. At first everything was great but the last time I took him. They butchered him. He had hot spots on his belly area and anal area. I had to rush him to the vet and get ointment. It was terrible. I didn't bother to call to let them know because I was going to blow up but I thought potential customers would like to know that the services offered are lacking. I've never dealt with such horror before. My dog is traumatized! Poor baby was super itchy, scaly and horrified! I don't know when they went south but they sure did. Lastly, the staff is not very welcoming. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. This place went DOWNHILL after Ryan left he was great with my dogs. When I last went it was before a dog show and they had me bathe and blow dry my own dog because they wouldn't have the time to that. that's FINE I did. I dropped him off and everything was okay. When I picked him up he was acting weird and VERY sensitive of his tail and butt. Mind you we have a dog show the next morning that they know about. His ears were awful with a cut right down the middle. Moved his tail placement back 2 inches. (which is bad for showing) and cut the hell out of his asswhole tant and his balls. RIGHT BEFORE A DOG SHOW Luckily my friends at the show helped me fix the cut before I got into the ring but when I went to talk to the new owner whatever her name is Apparently he was dirty which is why he didn't look great. If he wasn't cleaned why didn't you say anything to me at drop off he was bathed less than a day beforehand and at the show my groomer friends said he was. CLEAN. I DONT recommend unless you want crazy prices. And a dog that comes back cut up with an awful haircut 0/10 read more

My dog looks so shiny and clean! Love Arielle's work! She does such an amazing job at getting my dogs clean and smelling so nice! We brought her our little "stink bomb" pug and I feel like we have a new dog! Our lab mix gets so excited too! And that's saying a lot because she's a big cry baby when it comes to grooming. She feels super comfortable at "my dog spot"! She's gained a faithful client! read more

I have been like 7 times to try to make an appointment, but nobody picks up. So I walk all the way with my dog, thinking maybe they take walk ins, but when I walk in, they don't do walk-ins and they make appointments I tell them that been calling them a lot if possible for a appointment. I understand your full book for today for the schedule. I get it. But at least pick up the phone a phone and tell me that your book will help me with the next appointment availability that would be easier and more professional to do so. read more

You can tell so much about people by the way they treat their animals. That being said, I need to spread the word about My Dog Spot and the caring way they show towards their furry clients and people. When I first brought my pups to them, they had recently gone to another groomer. Charlie was so scared, I didn't think he would be able to stay. My other dog, Lulah is more calm and accepting of those around her. I got a call to come pick up Charlie, shortly after I dropped them off. When I arrived, it was explained to me that we should try Charlie again, another day. I was impressed. They do not force any pet to undergo grooming if they don't want it. Well, folks we tried again and guess what? Charlie fell in love with the staff! Nuvea, Ariel and EZ have become my pups friends. Lulah also gets a kick out of the cute ribbons they put on her (as soon as we get home, this little cream puff destroyes them) Needless to say, My Dog Spot is the only groomer my family uses. It's so comforting in today's world, that you can leave your furbabies in a clean, safe, loving environment where they will receive the best care. read more

We came by for the first time today because everything else was closed. We are grateful for you guys for being open. We loved everything about this groomers, great service, really friendly.. but upon arriving home we noticed our dog's (English cocker spaniel) nails were cut uneven and cracked, we asked for a trim and now most of his hair is shaved off-extremely uneven. I don't care about his haircut, his hair will grow back.. but disappointed. I would recommend this place for a clean rather than a cut. read more

I use to LOVE this place. But ever since Ryan left it has turned to a DUMP. Yup. Seriously would t take my enemies dog here. They cut your dog to pieces because they must be using full blades or just NOT paying attention to what they are doing. The customer service is trash too. Do not go here. Not worth it. To top it off, they raised the prices by 100%. So a basic bath that use to cost me $60 is now $120. Same requested service. Same dog. Double the price and 1/10 of the actual service I use to receive. Really wish I knew where the old groomer went so I could get a decent groom on my dogs. read more

Ive used this place twice. I used the app to fill in my dog's needs while I was boarding her. It did not update in their computer. Two employees told me that it doesn't work. Because she takes several medications, when I dropped her off I made sure they had it down correctly. I got a call back that day with medication questions. They had completely wrong information. I called the second day to see how she was doing. I was told someone would call me back. Not a word until the next day. Of course they told me she was doing great. They told me she was playing with the other dogs during group. I immediately knew that was untrue. She does not like other dogs. I will never use this place again. read more

Extremely disappointed. I just moved to the area so I needed a new groomer for my dog. I found My Dog Spot and the first available appointment was a week out, at 8am. I booked the appointment and on the morning of, I left my house at 7:30am (I always arrive on time to an appointment). At 7:35am, I received a missed call from My Dog Spot. I called back but nobody answered, so I assumed it was a mistake. I arrived and waited outside of the location 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment. Nobody showed up at 8am, so I called twice for an update but there was no answer. I then noticed that I received a voicemail from My Dog Spot stating that my appointment was canceled because the groomer was "sick" and that the earliest date to reschedule was 2-3 days later. I didn't see this voicemail notification because I was DRIVING to the appointment. It is very inconsiderate and extremely unprofessional to not give clients a reasonable time frame when canceling/rescheduling appointments. 3 hours have passed and I still haven't received a call back. My time is valuable. I coordinate to make sure that my dog is taken care of and dropped off/picked up, ON TIME, regardless of my busy schedule. I would've been understanding if this cancellation was the day before, or at least an hour before my appointment. But a 25 minute cancellation before an appointment is too short notice. I don't believe that this groomer is really sick, or else this situation would've been handled differently. I will never return to this place. read more

I have taken both my dogs(fur babies) to Ryan. The first visit was okay. After we picked up our dogs we noticed when we got home that my dog Han Solo was cut right above his left eye. Ryan had cut to close, and my dog got an infection and he caught the kennel cough. But my husband and i figured that it was an accident, as some groomers cut to close at times and kennel cough sometimes our fur babies can catch it. "WORST GROOMER EVER!!!!!!!! AVOID MY DOG SPOT AT ALL COST! When we picked up our dogs the second visit Ryan's son was hitting our dogs with a SWIFFER stick, in front of Ryan, who said nothing!!" The second visit WAS THE WORST ONE!!!! My dog Oni has a skin tag on his right elbow that Ryan noticed the first visit, so he avoided cutting the tag. The second visit he cut the tag by accident and left the hanging skin on, but put quick stop on the cut. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, my dog Han Solo, was cut several times on his right back paw. Han got an infection and we rushed him to the vet, in total the veterinarian cost about $140, with two prescription of antibiotics. his foot was so swollen, red and puffy. AS FRIENDLY AS RYAN MAYBE, WE HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!! THIS WAS LIKE A NIGHTMARE. read more

Ryan and his wife are wonderful at what they do! They care about the dogs & the parents. They are clean, super friendly, professional & accommodating. I've been brining my fur-babies for a while & they always do a great job. They are caring and gentle in how they work with the dogs. I've been to previous groomers that have hit the dog on the snout & I mentioned it to Ryan. He agreed that that is uncalled for & they never treat a dog that way! He really tries to take his time with the dogs so as not to hurt them. I highly recommend them; I'm a dog sitter & even take the dogs I babysit there! https://www.dogvacay.com/pro/Cristinasdoggypack read more

Our fearful adopted dog, Feta, had a very hard time with people. We even went to another groomer before My Dog Spot who told us our dog was aggressive (she was fearful). The team here not only took the time to get her comfortable, she now is comfortable enough for us to give her baths at home! We moved last year but still bring both of our dogs here because we love the staff. Highly recommend supporting this small company, they take the extra time for your pet! read more

Been taking my dogs here for years. I went in August and they said Ryan no longer worked there. The employee helping seemed scared of my dogs and felt like they were going to bite here. I heard her say it when I was there in August. I had never seen here there before so maybe she was newer who knows. Ryan always handled my dogs with care and gentleness and they were never aggressive. If your employee is giving vibes of being afraid I'm sure dogs sense that. Sadly, I will not be returning after all these years. read more

I took my first dog to this location and when I picked him up both his eyes were flushed red. Ryan said it was from the soap. My mom and I left it alone and took his word for it. The second time I took my second dog, when I picked her up her left eye was BLOOD SHOT RED AND HER EYELID WAS SWOLLEN!!!! She was so shaken up I've never seen her like that before. We were loyal customers of My Dog Spot for over 14 years after rescuing our first dog. She had trust issues and we liked how gentle they were with her. We developed a good relationship and we were there every month like clockwork. We had rescued another dog who became the regular customer after our older dog couldn't handle monthly grooming anymore. In 2018 we moved farther away but we still drove to La Mirada every month. After Ryan left, the feel of the place changed but we remained loyal for a few more months. The final straw came with the treatment of my elderly dog who needed special handling during a quick bath. She had mobility issues and I spoke to Ariel prior to bringing her in to be sure they could handle it. She knew my dog very well and confirmed she would let her lay down and make her as comfortable as possible. It sounded implied that she would give my dog the bath herself. However upon arrival one of the workers walked over to take my dog from me. She was pulling on the leash and practically dragging her to the back. My dog couldn't keep her balance. I kept asking her to stop pulling my dog the way she was and she scowled and pretended not to hear me. Another worker heard me and saw me getting agitated. She asked what was wrong and I told her that the other lady was not handling my dog properly. She went to the back to say something and came out carrying my dog saying she would be giving her the bath. She didn't lay her down or make her comfortable like I was promised. I never saw Ariel and I really regretted putting my dog through that ordeal. That was our last visit to My Dog Spot. I found a groomer close to home for my younger dog. This was over a year ago but when a 14-year customer stops coming in I would think the establishment would want to know why. read more

I had an appointment at this location. I arrived and noticed the business was closed. A signs on the door said that staff was feeling unwell and were closed for the day. No one had the decency to call me and simply say they couldn't or that they had an emergency. I messaged the business via Yelp and the owner simply stated he had a family emergency. I understand completely (emergency's come up) What I didn't understand was the unprofessionalism. Why not send me a message to let me know? There was no "sorry for the inconvenience next wash is on us" or "here is a discount code". read more

Yesterday was my second visit to this groomer. I was happy with my dogs first visit...and then yesterday happened. Business as usual; dropped off my dogs, went to pick them up and then it happened. The groomer/owner had not noticed I walked in. I stood at the counter for less than a minute when the dog he was grooming nipped at him...nothing hard, just a "hey buddy don't brush so hard" kind of nip. Then the groomer hit the dog on the head, with the brush twice and proceeded to scold him "You will never do that to me again." Followed by a tap on the nose. It broke my heart. I instantly wondered whether or not he'd done this to my dogs. Our four legged friends deserve better treatment than this. They can't talk the way we can, thus deserve as much patience as they give us. I will NEVER go back and shame on you! read more

This is the 2nd time I have brought my dog into the shop. The first time I was really unhappy because they shaved all of my dogs hair down. Practically to the skin. I though maybe they misunderstood the type of cut I wanted. Today I brought my dog in for a 2nd chance cut. The same thing has happened. These people are very LAZY!!! $35 for a cut when all your getting is a shave with the clippers is HORRIBLE. and it was not even cut evenly!!!! They didn't even clip my dogs nails.
