On 8/20/2023 at the Petco on 522 Sawdust Rd, Suite C1 in Spring, TX 77380, my family had the worst experience ever at a location we had long patronized.  A grooming employee and management (Adam, specifically) seemingly lied to cover their butts. My stepfather had brought in our 2 older dogs for a grooming appointment and was waiting to be acknowledged behind a customer who was waiting for her dog to be finished. The groomer working on the other dog tersely told him they would not groom our dogs that day. She did not look at the computer for an appointment nor ask for or provide any details. Meantime, I received a notification that the appointment time had been pushed back. My stepdad left the store and came home, explaining what happened.  Confused, I called the groomers to clarify whether our dogs still had an appointment and could be serviced that day. The groomer who answered said yes, although they were shortstaffed at the moment, and she asked if I wanted to keep the same time. Still confused, I asked if that was the case, why did they just brusquely turn away my dogs without checking the appointment or giving an explanation. She struggled to answer so I nicely requested to speak to a manager. Suspiciously, this handover took quite a while considering the size of the store. When the manager answered the phone, he suddenly claimed that my docile, ELDERLY AND ILL dog bit another customer's dog. Preposterous claims since 1) they agree old and not aggressive towards dogs or humans, 2) my father was there handling them the entire time as the other customer happily pet our dogs while hers was being groomed. Nor would they furnish CCTV proof or provide our contact info to the customer they claimed said this (he said they "had no way to contact her" and give her our info.) Another lie because every grooming customer must provide a contact number. Also, they only claimed this after I called and asked why they abruptly turned us away. Neither the customer in question nor any personnel mentioned this when my stepdad was AT THE STORE or when I first asked about the appointment. After calling CS, I got the impression the rep couldn't care less. And, although I requested a callback from a supervisor, I have yet to receive anything besides a worthless NPS survey. I've been getting our dogs groomed here since 2016 and was a Vital Care member. Unfortunately, the service quality and revolving door of groomers who are actually decent and caring have both gradually gone downhill, but the location was convenient.  This fabrication to cover for unprofessionalism, however, was the last straw. read more

Do not sign up for the petco vital care program. This is an absolute scam. We were never able to use our points and contacted IT multiple times to try and help us. they refuse to cancel our membership as it auto renews for an entire year!!! You have been warned. read more

I had a great experience at Petco's grooming salon. My dog was extremely comfortable with the groomer, he even wanted to stay! Even with a no call no show groomer they still managed to get my puppy out on time. I recommend this salon! read more

I have been going to the Petco on Sawdust in Spring for about 8 years. I have continued to go in spite of the fact that the rewards program is useless and they continually change groomers. However, in the past year they have a new manager in the grooming department. The prices have increased. They are now insisting on charging me for a LONG HAIRED dog even though my dog does not have long hair. When I pointed this out to the manager as I arrived for my pets grooming appointment today, he got nasty and rude. He told me to go someplace else and told the girl at the desk to take my pets appointment out of their system. I have never had anyone treat me with such disgust and be so obnoxious. I will never darken their door again so long as he is still there. read more

My wife was waiting on the ferrets to come in to possibly get our son one for his birthday but the manager "Tony" was extremely rude to her. When she tried to tell him that we had been on a waiting list and that we were told to come in to pick one out but apparently they don't have time for that. My family will not be using that store ever again and that really sucks because we became friends with everyone there over the years. Sad to see a good store ruined by a bad manager. read more

Took my German Shepherd, lab mix here. New dog know they're prone to shedding and wanted to knip it in the butt as fast as possible. Took Thor here and they had him for a good three or so hours. They had different payment options depending on what you wanted done. I picked their de shedding with a bath and teeth brush option. Costed $100.00. When I went to get him the lady who worked on him said they got as much hair as they could and used a shampoo that helped the undercoat continue to fall off and I should brush him again in 48 hours or so. Which made me uncomfortable because it's like if I'm paying y'all all this money, why do I get I dog that's not only going to shed worse even if temporarily but then now I have to pick up the slack on my personal time. Not much of a "de shed" Needless to say shedding got worse when I picked him up. I had washed everything when I thought he was gonna come back better. Trying to be productive cleaning my house of hair. Now everything's worse. I run around constantly for well life. Today and tomorrow are my off days from work and I can think of a million things I'd rather be doing than de shedding a dog who's under coat seems to never end in the heat of summer... These guys really need to pick up the slack and at least have a curtesy visit after the shampoo or whatever does it's thing. This is why I don't like when vets or anyone brings your dog back behind closed doors and or you're not there. You have no idea what they're ACTUALLY charging you for, for all I know I paid $100.00 for them to simply pet Thor for three hours or use that shampoo on him, let him dry then pet him some more til I picked him up. Or just keep him locked up neglected idk. Either way when you want to relax and focus on other things being in the heat doing something you already paid to have done. Not ideal. Get it together Petco! Seems they're all about the money because obviously if they did a follow up appointment it means another new dog couldn't been for them to steal $100.00 or even more dollars. So yeah I'm annoyed and there's furr the size of a 1 and half year old bigger dog floating around outside my apt. BEST part is I'm not even done there's still more hair. Had to come inside because Thor and I were getting too hot. Now I have to wait til night or wake up at the butt crack of dawn if I want us to be more comfortable finishing this..... Wow, very disorganized, incompetent, and what a lack of service. The Grooming Dept. is uncaring, and totally inefficient! I brought my puppy in to be groomed and was 10 minutes late with my appointment, 1:00 p.m. resulting in them turning me away for the weekend! I would give 0 stars, but YELP, in it's infinite wisdom, won't allow it. LoL. I'm an easy going guy, but, these folks are plain, lazy, and uncaring of the customers plans. The treats-by-the-pound section is always well stocked when I visit this location, and they sell several package sizes of puppy poop bags! You can schedule a nail trimming at the grooming station for about $10.00, and buffing the nails is only three dollars more. http://www.petco.com/petco_Page_PC_groomsalon.aspx I feed my three puppies Wellness brand puppy food. Unfortunately, this Petco location only sells the four pound bag-- but you pay $17.00 for that tiny sucker! I went in to grab a few things for my new marine pet. Walking around the fish isle, the new employee, I didn't catch his name but he was very helpful. Said it was his first day but even then he went the extra mile looking stuff up for me! I wouldn't have known it was his first day. Cut to checking out, I decide against a small item because I realized it didn't fit my needs so I handed it to an employee at the register named Angela, she slammed against the table, after that she threw it (missed, then got upset she missed? Idk, not my problem). Upon checking out she asked rudely if I wanted to make an account, with that display of character I said "no thanks", I wasn't inspired. After which she took my cash and gave me my change, just told me to grab my items. I said I needed a bag, she gave a HEAVY sigh and eye roll and obliged. It was TWO items plus my receipt. Seriously ma'am? I already saw a bad review for her then checked my receipt, and there's the same name. Idk what to tell you, train your employees better to appreciate their job. read more

This is the most overpriced pet store I have ever been in. Seriously several dollars more for so many items. If you have the red laser app on your iPhone scan the merchandise before you purchase it. Usually I leave though because they don't have the selection of products I'm looking for. There only two positive features this store offers IMO. First one is the low cost vaccination clinics on specified weekends and the second feature is that they have pet adoptions on the weekend. read more

Great store with friendly, helpful staff. Alex is a fantastic trainer. If you want results with a lot of love for your pup, I highly recommend Alex. Pippin has completed Puppy Levels 1 and 2, and we can't wait to get started with more classes. Unfortunately, she can't continue with puppy play time on Saturday and Sunday as she is now 6 months and older puppy/dog play is no longer available. I did a quick stop to use the facilities as I was traveling alone with my pug puppy.. I was quickly offered to take care of my puppy while I used the facility. The staff was very cooperative, friendly and very helpful. I felt assured that I could leave my puppy in good care for a few minutes.. I also picked up some treats and the cashier was very friendly and courteous. I am so glad I was able to find a Petco with such friendly and courteous staff. read more

My issue is not with the store but with one of the ladies in the grooming department. I called asking if my puppy an get scheduled for an appointment today due to an incident he had. If they did not have room or time they could of said no but they said they could. When I brought my puppy there, one of the ladies, who was unprofessional and improperly wearing her mask, was making comments like my dog getting groomed was an INCONVENIENCE to her... I went on to show his show his shot records due to this being his first time here.. instead of reading the records properly because she did not want to groom my dog in the place... She told me that my dog have been to the vet once when his digital record obviously shows two different dates. Then had the audacity to say my dog may get bitten by another dog that's why the right about of shots is so important. Why would my dog be close enough to another dog to get bitten. now I have driven 20 mins away to another Petco location that have taken the time to read the shot records properly. Customer Service or COVID procedures is not a priority at this location and I want others to know. read more

This is an excellent store with many employees who are very helpful an knowledgeable. I always see a manager on the floor helping. It is also great to see them supporting local homeless animals with frequent adoptions too! read more

They refused to price match an item from Petco.com that was on sale so I drove another 15 minutes to the Petco on Kuykendahl and got exceptional customer service there instead. I would recommend people go to the Petco on Kuykendahl instead as that store is more updated and has friendlier staff. read more

I am speaking towards the associate that works in the grooming department specifically to Angela that attended my dog for a nail trim service if your going to give a negative feed back and negative comment towards my pet please your job is to cut hair or cut nails. Please don't tell me that I do not know how to take care my dog saying that I don't know. Because you do not know my dog been struggling with allergies and been giving different medication for his skin. My dog is 9 years and going to be 10 and he's has a lot of health issues as for he's becoming blind because he's old that I have taken him to different vets and nothing have improve. So please focus on your job and don't tell me because saying that I can't afford for medication. So next time ask a question and don't say that I should be ashamed of myself. I went today to get my dog full service bath and groom and upon checking and i went to the cashier area asking the cashier if he could check if i do have some cash rewards on my account , asking him if he could check it with my phone or pals account but he immediately refuses to check it for me and said i have to provide him an email. I told him that why is it when i am at conroe petco branch the cashier always been helpful but here in sawdust they only choose their customer whom they wanted to help probably because im brown skin , the lady customer before me is white holding a LV wallet , the cashier helped him and offered her to check her points using her email or phone number but why is it when it ismy turn the cashier easily refuses to check my rewards. I forgot to get his name but i can still remember his face . The only reason why i go to this branch its becausemy dogs knew the groomer. And so far i love their service. read more

I did not know the first thing about goldfish until brought home two from the carnival . Shayn was so helpful and explained everything we needed to know to start our goldfish Aquarium. Sure, I could have purchased all needed items cheaper at Wal-Mart, but I would not have gotten the information I needed to have a successful first aquarium! Was very happy with our purchase . Just went in here (Friday afternoon) to see what freshwater fish they had available. There was a dead fish in most of the tanks, and some had multiple. Many of the fish had ich, and at least half of the tanks had fish that had become stuck to the filter intake. Very poor job at quality control here. I wouldn't risk contaminating your existing tank with any of these poor suckers. read more

This place was huge compared to the petco near my house. They had a huge selection of reptiles, pets, and fish. Their fish was very very well taken cared of. We ended up buying 4 betas. The problem was that we didn't see any workers at all while we were there until we got to the cash register. I wanted to check out this created gecko they had but no one was around. This a review for the salon and not the store. The salon is horrible- whoever answers the phone is a wicked witch and should be FIRED. Extremely rude and unprofessional and acts like you're stupid for asking the usual questions (how much, when do you have appointments available, early drop off, etc). I ended up just hanging up on them because they were that RUDE. I would never leave my dog with them. Go to Petsmart instead they are much nicer and are always great with my dog! About three weeks ago I bought a butterfly male betta from a different location and realized that he was developing fin rot. I started treating him based on the research I did online and it wasn't working. I went to this location to speak to their fish expect Shayn who was amazing. He was extremely helpful and really knows what he's talking about. I would have gone to the petco closer to me but the fish expert there isn't as friendly as Shayn was. He gave me a lot of advice on how to treat my fish and what medicine I should try. So far I see some improvement but not as much. This is only the second day I have been treating him with the medicine so far but at least it's doing some good. If you're looking for fish advice I highly recommend coming here and talking to Shayn. read more

The store is small and cluttered. No associates make their way around to offer help and they're grossly overpriced. Save your self some major frustration and big bucks and just go around the corner to walmart instead. Walmart had the same products for literally a quarter of the price. I have taken three dogs to Katherine for bathing and grooming, and she always does a great job. One was a real terror as a pup, and K lovingly managed to give her a full groom the first time (we would have been happy with a face trim!). Alex is #1 for training! We have finished AKC Good Citizen with one dog, and he is helping us train two others. We hope to have all of them as therapy dogs. The first one has passed the test and is doing therapy work! It's a little out of our way but well worth the drive. You can tell they both love dogs, and our dogs love them...we even have to take the oldest one in occasionally just to see her buddy Alex! read more

I wish I had read the bad groomer reviews previous to taking our new rescue dog there. We there, because we love that store, and are in there often. However, this is the first time we had used the grooming services. The girl at the desk had plenty of attitude and continuously interrupted us when speaking. She didn't want to hear anything you had to say, just kept saying to tell the groomer, but when the groomer came up finally, she wanted control of that conversation as well. At that point, I wish I had followed my gut feeling based on my first impression. The groomer proceeded to upsell us to $75 from the original $39 we had been quoted. "Well, we will have to do this and this..." etc. I am not sure what the original $39 covered, because it seemed to be nothing the way she was selling us on services. Since he was a rescue and was still a little scared, we had asked that he not be caged and were promised that he was being taken straight back to be washed right then, however as we were leaving, we saw him caged. :( When we came to pick him up he wasn't finished after 4 hours and we had to wait another half an hour. His cut was a real hack job. It was much shorter than we had asked for, and very uneven. We have been fixing it ourselves for 2 weeks. We keep finding another clump that needs to be evened out. His tail was a mess we had to completely reshape it. To add insult to injury, she had put this crappy cheap ribbon around his neck that we had to cut off... like the kind you get on a really cheap flower arrangement. Now for the worst part. We gave him a bath last night, and he is MUCH whiter and fluffier than he was when he came out of the groomer! We are wondering if she even washed him at all! That was the worst $75 I have spent in a while! I will not be going back! read more

Returned to have her bandage it, and get a refund and the manager blamed it on my sister and I for waiting to cut her nails so long. What happened to the customer's always right?
