This is a great locally owned store that has been in Kingwood since almost the beginning! The owner and his wife are usually at the front desk to help you, all the staff are so friendly and always greet customers when they walk in the door. Their prices are as low as any of the big chains or even the online stores. We get our dogfood there as they carry the big bags we like. What's more, they have loyalty program where you get a free bag of food after so many purchases. They have a large selection of toys and treats. They also offer grooming although we have not used that service yet but it seems popular. read more

This was my first time using Pet Ranch's services. The woman at the door instructed me to drop off my dog, which I was having groomed, toward the back of the store. A sign on the wall said extra charges would be added for dogs with fleas, matting of hair, and difficulty handling. My dog had neither fleas nor matted hair nor exhibited behavioral problems; however, the charge for a face clip and ath was $67.00, twice the price I paid in Houston. My dog's face was not cleaned under her left eye, and the clip was not short enough. Overpriced, and the job of washing/grooming was poor. I was not allowed to pick up my dog from the groomer myself, and when they brought her to me, her collar was too tight around her neck. I will not return to Pet Ranch; my animals are too important to me. read more

The lightweight and fleece they have my Fur-Babies really like when they get cold/or want that comfort. They "treat bar" area, which is what I call it, is always nice because it allows you to try out different items without buying a bag of them. We heard about the city of Kingwood hassling the shop over some flags they're using to celebrate their 40th Anniversary in business AND that they re-opened after Hurricane Harvey hit them hard. So we decided to pay them a visit to buy some supplies for our new puppies and support local business. Super staff (Meagan & Bernice) were so very nice and very warm with their greeting as soon as we walked through the door. Megan took her time to find out what our pups were and how to fill an obvious need we had in their care. We walked through the entire store listening to her advice and buying what we needed. Want to know why we'll be back? Megan's obvious compassion and care when it came to our new babies...you don't get that sort of service with PetsMart or Petco. We'll be back for more supplies as needed, but don't be surprised if we just stopped in to visit and chat with their super nice and caring staff. We drove 43 minutes to this store just to support a small business and when we left with everything we needed, it was us that felt as if we are now fully supported - keep up the great work and incredible attitude, Meagan. This is SUCH an awesome place to browse, buy Science Diet dog food, shop for treats and pet toys, and take our little toy poodle to be groomed. Lori is awesome and does an outstanding job on our little boy! She is simply the best! The owners are also some of the sweetest people you would ever want to meet! They are helpful, kind, and just an incredibly loving couple! I always feel great when I go in there. Everyone always has a smile and such helpful, service-oriented attitudes! I have been doing business with this store since 1989 and have always found the staff and owners very friendly and helpful. A great selection of food and accessories for dogs and cats. They have started carrying things I asked for over the years. This store beats the pants off the big box stores in the area for knowledge and service. The groomers are very good, but you have to book a month in advance since they are so busy. I have found this with most of the good groomers. Lorie is great and our dog always looks great when she is done. I always support local ownership, until they mess up. This store hasn't messed up in 20+years. read more

I usually don't give negative reviews, but I was so disappointed with the way my Airedale terrier was groomed at the Pet Ranch that I felt compelled to say something. It was the worst job anyone has done. Really shocking. The groomer made no effort to clip the dog following the distinct features of the breed. It looks like the groomer just ran the clippers over the dog, shaving her the same length. It's just a buzz cut. Completely unprofessional. It kills me to pay $85 for a job I could have done better myself. A friend recommended the Pet Ranch, but I will never go back. read more

This is a small, locally owned pet store that is stuffed floor to ceiling with pet supplies. I am agog at how they got so much into such a small place. The people who work here are really nice. They have a great selection of dog and cat foods, including high end natural foods. They can even track the food you buy so that it's easier to shop there. They participate in vendor's frequent buyer programs too, so you can earn free food. I like that they're a local shop and that I'm helping my local community by shopping there so I don't mind paying a little extra when I go there. Give them a try. read more

I have been purchasing my dog food from Pet ranch for a while now and I have to say the store is always stocked with what I need and want for my pets. However, the customer service lacks. the might be one or two people that are nice and helpful but the other several older ladies that work there are always short and come across rude. They act as if you are inconveniencing them. There has been an older gentleman there from time to time, who is super nice and helpful. I'm assuming the owner. But anyhow they should really replace the older women who clearly don't care for their customers. read more

I usually never go here and now I remember why! The owner was working the register the day I stopped in and tried to sell me a 50$ pooper scooper. Really? Is it gold plated? The owner helped me source quality car harnesses for my dogs, not the flimsy ones available from the big box stores. My 90 lb. meth lab broke the big box store model on first use, whilst the one Pet Ranch recommends is still in use over a year later. I live really close to Petco, so they have been getting my business. But today they informed me that the dog food my two older dogs rest, they no longer carry (Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind for large breed). So looking around I found Pet Ranch carries it. It is literally a few more dollars than petco, but if I buy 10 bags, I get one free, and they track it for me! They showed me where it was, and carried it to the register for me. So I asked for a new collar in a certain configuration I could not find at Petco or Petsmart, and they had it! Cheaper than the other two also. So then I asked for a bag of puppy food, also few dollars more that Petco, but it is also buy 10 get one free, but I have to track the purchases by saving the recipients in a little envelop they supplied (blue buffalo large breed puppy). They also carried the large bag to the van to help me out. They were so nice, it was refreshing. They will be getting more of my business from now on. It's worth the extra 5 mile drive. You have to love mom & pop shops with that kind of service. If you have pets, and live in the Kingwood area, I would give them a try if you hadn't before. read more

HORRIBLE. The customer service used to be great, years ago. Currently, every one of the employees are rude and treat people like they are idiots. The groomer knows nothing about customer service and tried to argue with me last time I was there, all she cares about is getting a paycheck. Pet Ranch is a small business with a big heart. It is rejuvenating to find a business that still values customer service the way Pet Ranch does. Unlike PetsMart or Petco, Pet Ranch it is obvious that they are there to take care of their customers. Each time I walk in I am immediately greeted and politely asked if I need any assistance. And never again do I have to fight with getting those ridiculously heavy and awkward bags of dog food into my car; the Pet Ranch employees have not only asked but insisted on carrying the food to my car with each purchase. On top of the premier customer service, Pet Ranch offers a customer loyalty program, where after you purchase 7 bags of dog food your 8th bag is completely free--a great perk when you are feeding four bottom-less pits like I am. Though their other pet products are mildly more expensive, their dog food prices are equivalent if not better than your larger pet food stores. All in all, I think Pet Ranch can be an essential tool to any pet owner. read more

I take my dog to get his nails trimmed here- the girl who does it (don't know her name, but she's young) is always really nice and doesn't seem bothered at all when I walk-in with my dog while she's got other dogs to work on. I don't really buy any merchandise here except occasionally a couple bully sticks for the dog and some cat nip for the cats. I can go to a box store closer to home and pay as much if not a touch less, but the box store doesn't care if I come there or not and they don't notice that I don't go there. The Pet Ranch ladies are all really great, yes even you Bernice! They are always warm and welcoming and helpful if we have questions.
