They always have stuff wrongly marked with sale price and when you to pay they said it was the wrong product. Even that it was marked where they were, their mistake not mine. But they also don't honor the price marked on shelf . So you end up paying lot more for something you took because it was "on sale". Happened to me more than once in this establishment. Employees even get rude not knowing what to do and blaming each other for the mistake. read more

We brought in a double coated dog who had quite a number of tangles in her collar. And instead of working with it and cutting them out, they just HACKED away all the fur around the neck of the dog. There is no rhyme or reason to this cut, it is chopped, unbelievably uneven, and she looks like a freaky giraffe now. I would never bring my dog into the shop ever again. Groomers need to be fired. Customer service is bad, they smile in front of you, once you turn, they talked about the Customer, I brought my puppy teddy bear, they just shave her body, they didn't show me that she got a lot mat, they just said she got some mat, and I remembered that I brought my puppy at vet,and I asked if she got some mat, and said not much, that's how I found out that my puppy don't need to shave, I am not going back to that place again, ever. read more

I decided to give this place 1 more chance. What a mistake. I went in for a grooming. They jacked up their rates and didn't tell me until after the dogs were finished. I understand raising your rates, but you need to let your customers know before they book and complete the service. Shady business and I will never return read more

My poor puppy was TRAUMATIZED after her grooming session here. This was her first full groom as she has done a puppy cut before. She was with the groomers for over 4 hours and when we picked her up she couldn't wait to get out of there. The groomers never mentioned anything other than that she was wiggly since it was her first cut. Upon pickup she seemed fine but when we got to the car we noticed that one of her paws was bleeding. She was shaking the entire way home. When we got home, she was scratching herself with her paws and the bleeding got worse, she was gushing blood everywhere! Took my yellow lab to PETCO groomer on 7/8/19 to have the furminator treatment done due to my lab shedding excessively from the hot temps. I picked him up, he appeared to be okay... it was until late that evening, he barely slept, was pacing all night long and was very lethargic the next morning and refused to eat his breakfast. I assumed he just was tired from the grooming and maybe was a little stressful on him. I came home from work later on 7/9/19 to him even more lethargic. I immediately took him to the vet, they ran several labs on him and it was found that his blood cell count was high which indicated a bacterial infection.. after three ER's later and 8 hours later, he was admitted due to his lethargic behavior, 106 degree temp for fluids and antibiotics. I thought I was going to loose my five year old lab Jakey.. he spent the night in the ER and was diagnosed with post grooming furunculosis. This is caused from either dirty water at the groomer, the groomer using excessive force on brushing him and a dirty brush.. $2700 later, a day off work, I will NEVER be getting my pups groomed here again. Be very cautious.. waiting to speak with corporate to see what they can do about v.. Spoke with corporate-- they are taking care of the entire vet bill and also provided our dog with a care package.. read more

While I do go there for snake, dog, cat, and fish supplies and food, the way they treat their animals is cruel. The other day I saw 6 ball pythons in just a 30 gallon tank, which is incredibly small to hold 6 ball pythons, that all look to be around 1 year old. You should only have that many in a tank when you want to breed. They had more empty tanks, and they need extra space. The goldfish treatment is a whole different story. read more

I took my Peke Bernie in for grooming and got a fantastic job by Laura. Bernie has been diagnosed with an Adrenal tumor and his coat looked terrible coming in. But he was looking beautiful when I picked him up a couple of hours later. Can't thank Laura enough for the job she did. read more

We take my dog here to get groomed all of the time. He's a 120 pound golden doodle so I can't imagine that it would be easy. Every time he comes out, he looks phenomenal. The girls at the grooming area love doing what they do, you can tell. They're always smiling and playing with the dogs. I feel comfortable and reassured that my dog is taken care of every time I drop him off here. I give a big thank you to this Petco. Thank you for taking care of our Buddy! read more

Just left the South Elgin Petco. Took our dog in for nail trim that we have been doing for 3 years. They told us they would not take her until we had updated the rabies information. We told them it was done in June. They wouldn't accept our word. One groomer spoke up and said we could call the vet but the Pink Haired girl said "I'm not taking the time to call" in a snotty attitude. She came across like we were an inconvenience to her. VERY bad customer service. They could have said we'll take her now but next time please update the information. We take our dog in every 6 weeks to get her nails trimmed. Why were we not told last time about this? NEVER going back. They lost a long time customer. read more

Great staff... when you get in the door, somebody is already greeting you offering if they can help you. They inform you of the 60 day return policy, open or closed bag. They educate you if any questions. And so far everytime i come in, every staff has greeted me with a smile. So far they are the only one that carries my dog food brand.. read more

This review is for the Grooming Salon... There is a great staff of groomers working at this location. They really care about the dogs! I dropped my 2 dogs off this morning, both badly needing grooming and one of my dogs being very old, with health/skin issues. I felt like they really listened to my concerns, made suggestions and made a thoughtful plan to clean her up keeping her health in best interest. The salon is clean and well kept. The staff was thoughtful and caring. My dogs looked amazing at pick up, and even have a pep in their step after their haircuts! :) read more

Good store. Friendly staff. Plenty of selection. My cat is a picky eater, and I find that their selection of cat food allows me to change her menu on a regular basis to keep her guessing. But they have plenty of other things here as well, and I love looking at their star wars-themed toys. read more

We got to petco today when there was only 15 minutes left till closing time. The people working there were soooo sweet and caring! They continued to help us out and give advice even past they're closing time! Such a friendly place! Shout out to Stacey! She is such a wonderful person! Also there was a cashier there( didnt catch his name) but he took out his phone just to help us google answers. Felt really nice to see people love animals and enjoy their job as much as them! This is strictly for their grooming. I brought in my 2 year old ShihTzu who I brush everyday. He HAD gorgeous long hair but his legs were matted bc of the snow/winter. I explicitly went on the ground and showed the groomer what I wanted done to my dog. I said "DO NOT cut his facial hair or his head" I just wanted his legs dematted. I came back to find he was completely butchered! I was devastated. I said "I told you NOT to touch his face!!" His gorgeous mustache and beard were gone :( The groomers response was "I'm sorry, we are just used to doing that". Apparently she did not listen to my EXPLICIT instructions. I had to leave. I called the manager later that day who said they would give me a refund but I am still so upset, I cannot step foot in the place (nor will I ever). Now my poor dog is yelping in pain, not running or playing and just acting strangely. I am taking him to our vet tomorrow and I am getting my own grooming certificate to groom him myself from now on. I will not allow this to happen ever again! read more
