I have been to the store several times and compared to other stores, customer service is better at this location. Employees ask if I need help and follow through with the help that I asked for. As for the Pet Salon, my dogs had a few groomers there. They are all nice and professional. One issue with Petco is that they don't allow customers to make an online appt. for nail-only service online. Petco's website says it's a walk-in service but the salon requires an appt. I have to call the salon and leave a message so that somebody can call me back to schedule a nail-clipping appt. Many times, I didn't even get a callback. What a hassle to call back and forth for a simple appointment. Then one day, I happened to talk to a groomer named Ren and complained about this issue. She was very friendly and understood the issue. Ever since then she always responds back to schedule my dog's nail clipping appt. Ren goes above and beyond and has a customer-friendly attitude. That's what makes me come back to this Petco Salon. Of course, she's gentle and loving to my fur babies who hate nail trimming. I will be coming back to this Petco location. read more

I went to Petco on Meridian Ave. on Wednesday (6/19/19) and witnessed a groomer mistreat a dog. It was approximately 2:10 p.m. The dog (white with curly hair) was yelping and moving away from the woman. Some dogs hate grooming, so I was not immediately alarmed. Then I saw the woman grab the dog's leg and give it a hard, sharp yank to pull the dog back to her. The female groomer had straight, brown hair that grazed the shoulder and a thin build. She was talking to a blonde woman while grooming the dog. I reported what I saw to the assistant manager, and also called Petco's corporate customer line to report it. I left my name and phone number with corporate, and was told the store manager would follow up with me. I have not heard from the store manager. Obviously, the manager does not care about the treatment of dogs by their groomers. read more

We visited Petco Meridian today afternoon to vaccinate our 1-year-old Labrador. The vaccination team at Petco Meridian consists of: a. One older lady wearing a white coat like a doctor b. One younger girl named Connie c. Another younger girl (I don't get her name) with super long painted nails (at least 1 inch long) on all her 10 fingers. Nope, I am NOT exaggerating. I know dimensions. It is really at least 1 inch long. I am an engineer. After check-in with Connie, we are now waiting our turn when the girl with long nails approaches us. It turned out she wanted to test our dog-friendliness. Due to COVID-19, our dog has not been socialized, so our dog moved his head away when she tried to put her fingers (and super long nails) in front of my dog's mouth. She right away concluded that my dog is NOT friendly. I told her, I guess our dog is not familiar with a stranger, and the long nail girl, with her cynical tone, said a word, "INTERESTING," and walked away. I decided to ignore it. Then, Connie (the other girl) asked us to bring our dog for weighing at her counter (our dog weighs 103 pounds today) and then explained all the vaccination pricing plus the heartworm medicine. Connie was trying to upsell their "packaged service," which I understand, and I agree right away for the over $350 vaccination with heartworm medicine. For the heartworm, she said blood samples need to be taken from our dog feet, which we are ok with, but suddenly... Out of nowhere, the girl with the long nail approached us again, this time with 2 muzzles. Without any explanation why, the long nail girl just ORDERED me like she was my battalion commander, telling me to put the muzzles on my Labrador, and she gave me very small muzzles. I then realized that this girl with long nails worried my dog might bite her, which I understand. I then observed the small muzzle and said to her politely that this muzzle was too small for my Labrador and asked for the larger muzzle that she had on her other hand. But again, with the "IN CHARGE RUDE TONE," she told me, "Put the small muzzle first, and I will give you this larger one (she have the larger one on her other hand) if it doesn't fit. So, I decided to try the small muzzle because I just wanted to get this vaccination done. But when I bring the muzzle near my dog's mouth, I now clearly see that it is way too small for my 103 pounds Labrador mouth. The smaller muzzle's total diameter itself is only about 1.25 in. It's really a muzzle for a small dog. However, what makes me upset is that inside the surface of the small muzzle, there is a YELLOW STAIN about 1 in diameter, basically covering the entire lower part of the muzzle. There is no way I want my dog to wear a DIRTY YELLOW STAIN muzzle even if that muzzle fit, and in this case, even an uneducated person can see that it just won't fit. This made me really unhappy, so I placed the small muzzle back on the table and took the larger muzzle from the long nail girl's hand, and I told her, let me just use the larger muzzle because the smaller muzzle just won't fit and proceed to put the larger muzzle on my dog. But before I could even start, Connie said, "SIR, you cannot take away things from our employee's hand like that"... It's like I am stealing a precious item!!! I am like... wow, so now I am a "SIR" right after this long nail girl being RUDE to us from the beginning, which Connie also witnessed. Then, the long nail girl needed to feel in charge again and said to me: "I CAN SEND YOU HOME IF I WANT." That just did it for me !!! Ok, long nail girl, first of all, your school's principal might send you home many time due to your bad manner when you went to school but remember here that WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMER. A customer that your co-worker (Connie) was just up-selling with all the products that cost over $350, which we agreed to buy. So, in response, I said NO, WE WERE LEAVING and told the long nail girl that she was RUDE. There is no way I am spending $350 dollar to be treated like that by long nail girl who wants my dog to wear a TOO SMALL YELLOW STAIN MUZZLE !!! Once I went outside the shop, I felt that I still needed to explain the logic, so I went back into the shop and said to the long nail girl: MY DOG IS a 103 POUNDS DOG. CAN YOU SEE THAT MUZZLE IS WAY TOO SMALL? The long nail girls yelled back, saying: I WANT YOU TO USE THE SMALL MUZZLE TO MAKE SURE YOUR DOG WON'T BITE ME. Now a LOGICAL EDUCATED PERSON or at least a TRAINED PERSON will know that a muzzle that is too small will not be able to hold the upper and lower jaws of the dog's mouth... I mean, it is just simple logic. So we need a muzzle of the right size. Instead, long nail girl gave me a DIRTY YELLOW STAIN WAY TOO SMALL MUZZLE. Since we are in a COVID-19 situation, Would a logical HUMAN wear a USED mask that had been used by many people before and have saliva or, worse yellow stain on the inside surface of the mask? I don't often leave negative reviews, but when I do they tend to be scathing. That's how I'm feeling about Petco Dog Training and especially the trainer Lori. Let me preface with my Pup Thea who is high energy and quite the handful. Lori was quite confident that she could take on the pup and convinced me to sign up for her class. When we showed up it was a different story. Lori was judging us to the point where we felt uncomfortable. It clear she has knowledge, but her objectives seem to be to validate her knowledge rather than connect the dots. Her suggestion after the first class was that we should leave the class and send our dog to doggy day care. Then I had to call her after the class to basically beg her to give us a second chance. Unfortunately the next week our dog had surgery and needed to miss the next class. I asked her for the class homework and she refused. The next class I came by and asked for the homework (dog was still unable to join) and she said her policy is to give homework only to dogs who attend class. That was the final straw. If you want to train your dog, look elsewhere. Waste of time dealing with this opinionated lady who can't get out of her own way! read more

Shoutout to the new groomer Vickita! She was very welcoming and she did an amazing job on my babygirl. She even put little accessories on my baby that nobody really does anymore. If I could recommend a groomer, it would definitely be her because not only did she do an amazing makeover on my baby, but she also signed me up for a program where I save nearly 30 bucks every time I come in for grooming. The fish selection here is amazing and they didn't look crowded or unhealthy other than the fact that I saw the guppy tank munching on a dead guppy corpse.... They have people all over the store, but apparently only one reptile person. Unfortunately for us, that person decided that running aimlessly through the store pretending to be busy was a much better option than helping any customers even though the other employees repeatedly called for help. Literally couldn't get any help after waiting 15 minutes. Some employees have been here for over a decade and they are the nicest, welcoming people I've ever known. Even to call me by name when I walk in. I again would give this store 10 stars if I could. Steven, Natalie, and Ashley have been here the longest. Be sure to ask for them when you are in, or if you have any questions about any of the animals. This review has nothing to do with Petco. Petco is a great store! This review is for the Vetco clinics inside Petco. I have 2 pups that I have scheduled 4 appts since Jan 2023. They send reminders, they send confirmations, they send paper work to fill out ahead of time. THEN the day of each appt I had scheduled they send a confirmation early the morning of the appt and then a bit later receive a cancellation text. What the heck. I can understand maybe once, but 4 times. Come on, get it together. Both of my dogs now are late for vaccines, one is late on Rabies, the other heart worm test and meds. I have even called twice and end up talking to some associate that could care less...Vetco has lost my business and I will not refer. This Petco is very close to my house, and I wanted to get some winter gear for Rocco, since some of his sweaters went missing during the move. We walked the half mile to this Petco, and it's definitley a bit older and run down, but very spacious and has everything a typical Petco has. BUT, was very dissapointed with their lack of selection of doggie clothes. However, the groomer there told us she saw a Christmas themed sweater that would fit Rocco perfectly, and it did! A reindeer hoodie for $5 after all the 75% off. I feel other Petcos have more employees helping out customers though, as when I had originally asked the cashier if there were any clothes, he replied no, that the section I was in was the only set of doggie clothes. We were fortunate to have bumped into the groomer that gave us her card for future grooming visits. read more

I am a Petco shopper and this review is based on this particular location and my experience... I was so surprised to see that so many people gave bad reviews for lack of service and absence of help. Well let me tell you - show up 30 minutes before they close and they will follow you around so that you will leave! I walked in to pick up a couple of things a half hour before closing and so many workers asked me if I needed help finding anything - to the point where I didn't want to shop because I felt they were pushing me out. I also noticed that anyone else who walked in after me got the evil eye. It's unfortunate that people don't want to work up until the time they're supposed to but oh well, I'll just hold off visiting this location and go to the Petco on Saratoga Avenue where everyone is friendly and helpful anytime of day. read more

I went to this Petco a couple of days ago. It had signs all over the front saying to wear a mask and everyone I saw entering or exiting had a mask, so I thought it would be safe to shop there (my husband and I are high risk and I have been avoiding stores). Inside the store, the employees I encountered on the floor were wearing masks. When I got to the register, the only register open, the cashier had his mask pulled down under his chin and had his gloveless hands all over his face. I stayed back about 10' and when he waived me forward I pointed out that he was not wearing his mask. He responded by putting it up over his mouth, but not covering his nose. He did not sanitize his hands. I asked if there was another cashier that could wait on me or a manager and he said "no". Bye bye, Petco! I won't be coming back. read more

Went to Petco grooming for my 3 month old, 2 pound maltipoo to get a TRIM. Made an appointment with Angelica and told her it's her first time and that I'm nervous to leave her. She took out the hair length book and I chose the longest sample. She agreed and said it would be a 1/2 inch trim and that she likes to leave fluffy dogs fluffy. As soon as she greeted my puppy she was adoring how much of a fluff ball and did an analysis of her hair, said there's some knots which I agreed to but could be brushed out which was the point of me making the appointment. she said she'd keep her waves. Appointment started at 11 and she told me to come back at 1:30. I stayed around a bit out of nervousness to peek through the window but they took her to the back where I couldn't see. I come back at one and she tells me that she had to go one level shorter to a level 4 (which was still very long on the booklet) because of her mattes but after having already shaving her. She then tells me she needs more time and to come back in an hour, making it 11-2:30. I come back then and she still isn't done. I wait until 3. A FOUR HOUR APPOINTMENT FOR A BUNNY SIZED PUPPY. She is shaved like a rat and lost all her precious puppy fur when she agreed to keep her long still. I paid in full and in tears told her nicely that I would've wished to keep it longer. Even with the short hair though it was SO UNEVEN AND CHOPPY. And why FOUR HOURS. Didn't cut her long nails and my puppy was SHIVERING to the point where even with a sweater I had to buy her, she was too cold to go outside to pee and would opt to doing her business inside. I cannot believe how awful it has been. Look at the before and after picture and tell me how anyone could have it in their heart to shave her all the way down to her skin on a 3month old. They go out of their way to greet you and ask if you need help which I feel is uncommon at stores like this. If I could do zero stars I would. sadly this place has zero compassion for its customers. I spend a lot of money at this location and today was in there when my toddler who is potty training needed to use the restroom. She isn't able to hold herself for very long because she is just a toddler. when I asked where the restroom was, the guy said it's closed to public due to "covid" which makes zero sense! wouldn't you want people to wash their hands? When I explained my daughter is the one who needed to go, he was very rude and shrugged his shoulders and said I dony know what to tell you. Also covid is over, we are in an endemic area it's all restrictions ending. Places continue to use Covid as a way of being lazy, they don't want any to have to clean the bathrooms anymore and the customer service that once was us no longer existent. Basic pet supplies, employees have no knowledge of pet nutrition or how to recommend a dog food. I came in looking for specific brands, Origen, Canidae, Nulo and wanted some information on brands they carry. My dog is extremely picky and does not like most kibble that I've brought home. So trying new foods all the time isn't really great for the budget. After speaking with two people about my situation and what I was looking for, no one in the store could help me. I hate to give bad reviews, but I do when I get terrible service, from the manager of the store. I had come in lots to get food and items of all sorts from them, and I know that their online prices are always cheaper and they price match usually. So when I walked in today, I already knew I wanted to get a few fish that were special and they were out of stock on them online (GloFish, $35/5 fish instead of $10 each. I wanted 10 fish, so $30 savings). I wanted to make sure they price matched the fish though, so I asked the cashier when I walked in and he confirmed that they do price match as long as it's the Petco website. Great. He was also nice enough to call overhead to have someone meet me there to assist with getting the fish. Going great so far. I started talking to the lady that was helping get the fish (took about 15 min or so for her to get all 10 of them), asked her about the fish and the price matching, and she said it shouldn't be a problem, they can do it when I get to the cashier. I get to the cashier, same one I talked to when I came in, and he started ringing me up. He had some problems so he called over another cashier that helped show him how to do the price match and enter it into the system. SO HERE IS 3 PEOPLE ALL GETTING ME THE PRICE MATCH WITHOUT AN ISSUE. Right before the cashier finishes, the manager walks up and asks if he is price matching live animals. We confirmed it was live fish, and she said that they can't do that and that I would have to pay full price! After 3 people have confirmed that I can do it and were helping me, she stops me at the last min and says that I can't do it. I had a horrible same day delivery experience. Like awful. But the same day delivery is fulfilled by DoorDash, not Petco. I made an order, & I didn't receive some of my items. Called Petco, spoke to the manager on duty Steven, & explained what happened. He said I understand your frustration but the order was picked up by DoorDash & now the store only had one box of my litter left. He suggested I reach out to DoorDash because they were the ones who picked up & delivered. But he also said hey I just checked. & we only have one box left & I can give you that if you'd like for the trouble. So I asked him to save it for me while I contacted DoorDash. He said no problem. Called DoorDash who told me to contact the store back cause they couldn't do anything to help me. Long story shortened, I ended up going down to this store & spoke with Steven & let him know I was currently on the phone with DoorDash & they were trying to contact him. I showed him my order receipt & the photo proof that the dasher took clearly showing (or actually I should say not showing) my missing items. The entire staff we dealt with (I apologize I don't remember the two other helpers name but a guy & girl) were all super patient & willing to help & understood the frustration for all parties. In the end they all went above & beyond to make sure I was taken care of even tho the fault was not on them. This kindof service is so rare these days so I just wanted to take the time to praise this team!! We really just needed some dang litter for our fur babies & the employees working this evening did an amazing job making sure our fur babies were taken care of at the end of the day. I can't say the same for DoorDash. Be nice to your retail workers. They go thru hell & back & don't get paid nearly enough to deal with all the bull crap they get dealt. Thankfully, the Corporate Petco phone number got me to someone who cared. I bought a pair of Youly Silicone Dog Boots, size XL, for my still recovering service dog who just had arthrodesis. I live in Fremont, OH. My dog's amazing surgical team and staff at the Metropolitan Animal Hospital are in Akron, OH. I was at the Wadsworth, OH Petco on one of Willow's re-check visits and saw the silicone dog boots. Never did it occur to me that these couldn't be exchanged at some point if I guessed the size wrong. I mean, if they didn't fit, and she never wore them, nothing is going to go wrong with a pair of silicone anything! Well, except when you take the boots back to exchange them, and it's past 30 days... and you get two very unelpful humans who are using store policy over their brains. Neither the associate, nor their manager, would budge. NO! We CANNOT exchange these, even with the original box and a receipt. This brand, YOULY, is a Petco brand. So, I left the store and returned to my car with the boots. When I opened the box to retrieve my 4/9/22 receipt (it's now May 30th, 2022) so I could call a Petco number... No receipt! I walk back in the store and ask the cashier if she'd kept my receipt, she said, Yes, and handed me my original receipt. What the heck!? What right did she have to keep it, unless she hoped I wouldn't notice and then I'd not have any leg to stand on when I returned home without it. The lady at corporate, Cheryl, did ask to speak with the manager, but got no where... so she gave me 3 digital coupons worth $15. The boots were $19. I will never shop at Petco again. Use some common sense people! If you've never heard of The Pickle Story about how to give great customer service... look it up! Bad reviews, and bad vibes, cost way more than a simple exchange of XL yellow silicone boots for L, teal green size. Wish I had taken a look at these Yelp reviews before trying out the grooming services for our family dog. Our dog came back shaved down and became oddly lethargic and essentially stopped moving (just sat on the couch without energy). Freaked out thinking it was something he might have eaten or an internal problem, we then noticed that his genital area was completely red and irritated. We took him to a vet, who said he had a skin infection likely caused by cuts in the skin in a very sensitive area. It's almost certainly as a result of the hack job grooming job where they shaved the poor dog without care and nicked him badly. We've never had an experience like this in over 5 years of grooming. What's worse though is they should have informed us if there was an accident or the dog had been hurt. read more

Holy cow! I usually don't shop here, but for convenience sake I stopped... WHY??? I'll attempt to keep this brief, but ohhh my... First, I needed help, and was talking to my mother on another aisle asking her if she can locate what I'm looking for. The manager was on my aisle and right behind me... NOTHING.... no big deal. I found what I needed in the end on my own. Then I get my purchases and go to the register, where I am met with some sort of Ice Queen. I have never felt so unwelcome in my life! (not even at my in-laws) I smile and try to pretend like I can't tell this woman doesn't want my business. So she rings me up and gives me my total... I don't shop here EVER, but something reminds me that they have a club card program. I ask if there were any discounts I could have received. I am informed I can be saving $10.... Hmmm, don't get me wrong, but considering the lack of customer service available in a completely empty store, you'd probably assume that reminding customers to use their club cards may be part of the job description. So she runs my card, and POOF I save the additional $10. THEN I get home, pretty shocked and disappointed that I was treated like some sort of leper, and I discover I was overcharged for my dog food by $6. I call the 800 number on the receipt. I was told I'd be contacted by a general manager. The rep has no clue when I will be contacted, does not know the name of the person who will contact me, nor can he give me an estimate as to when I will receive this call. I stopped in one night for some pet food, and to look over the mice. I stood at the mouse bin for at least 10-15 minutes before someone came to ask if I needed help. I asked a question which was briefly answered, and that was that. At the register, I was asked if I had a Petco card. I didn't, and I was not offered one. They seemed in a hurry to just get me out the door. I came back the other evening to again look at the mice. I stood there for a good half an hour waiting for assistance, but it never came. Several of the mice were missing bites out of their ears, and one had a rather large wound on its back. We left, never having gotten service or the chance to tell them about the injured mouse. Besides your typical hello welcome to petco.. Every time I come into this location it always takes them a long time to ask if I need help finding anything after I just spent 20minutes looking myself.. and when I do find someone to ask upfront all they do is simply point in the direction I was just in... Is it really that hard to remember where things are at in your store? It's not like there's an inventory like Safeway or Wal-Mart... Worst customer service ever idk if it is because they are short staffed, lazy, on drugs or what but I personally will no longer go to this location even if it means driving out of my way to get the customer service I expect especially since I've been going there for years! read more
