I made an appointment online for a pet grooming. I received a phone call the Sunday prior that I needed to bring my rabies vaccination record (his shot had expired since his last grooming). I show up at the appointed time with my dog and rabies vaccination record only to be told they could not accept it because it was not type written (it was a three part form filled out by hand and signed by a veterinarian along with his license number). The rabies record was from a reputable dog adoption and vaccination clinic in our community. My dog had current licensing which you cant get with an expired rabies vaccination. I asked to speak to a store manager only to be told he was "on break". Unhappy customer and you cant make the time to explain your policy, apologize, anything??? An assistant manager came, but she had a cell phone up to her ear because she was on hold on a call. I called Petco corporate offices when I got home to get an explanation of their policy. They were happy to take my name and number and call me back in 24-48 hours. Wow! If you look up poor customer service in the dictionary there will be a picture of a Petco store. Not sure how groomers are paid, but mine is spending the next hour twiddling her thumbs, not receiving a tip and my dog still needs a grooming. Guess Petsmart gets a try, read more

Our family has had such a wonderful learning experience with the most kind and patient "teacher" Larnell, the knower of all fish things! (Well that's how we refer to him anyway). We've gone from a 2.5 gallon tank to a 55 gallon tank in less than a month - only having the confidence to do so because of Larnell. We've been treated with respect and kindness not to mention utmost professionalism every time we've visited this location, some times twice a week to check water quality. Every question has been answered and answered correctly! A very important factor when building an aquarium such as ours. Although Larnell was not directly involved with the adoption of our new cat (same location) if it weren't for his awesome attitude and enthusiasm for his job- we would most likely had found another fish source and would never have met our cat (adoption weekend). I can assure you shopping at this store and meeting the friendly staff here is, was and will continue to be a true blessing for our family. Thank you Larnell for all your help!!! read more

Visited this Petco last night, because my son was itching to walk around, so I agreed. We decided to purchase a beta fish. Having had beta fish in the past, I knew what I needed and he chose his fish. The price on the shelf advertised $3.99 for the betas and he chose one he liked. Got a tiny bottle of water purifier (because I wasn't sure if we had any at home) which was $4.99 and a small jar of food for $2.99. Upon checkout, the beta rang up at $12.99. Apparently that was some fish. Probably it did a song and dance and dishes, but I wasn't paying $13 for a fish. I told the cashier it said $3.99. She called for assistance and the fish expert lady advised me only a few were $3.99 and some were even as much $20. My son chose a $3.99 fish... Their prices were ridiculous for these fish! When I got home, I realized I still had a HUGE bottle of water purification drops I had bought from Elliots and the price tag said $6.99. So Petco is seriously gouging their prices. I also realized that a tiny 10# bag of shavings was $10 there, and I had just gotten a 50# bag from Kens for $8. They have some really cute dog clothes, but the sweater I liked was $19.99. $20 for a tiny dog shirt? This place is so expensive. I will never set foot in here again. 2 stars instead of 1, because they do animal adoption here. read more

I usually shop at petsmart for all my pet needs but this one was closer to my house so I decided to give it a try. I went once and never going back again! They have the worst customer service ever!! I didn't get the guys name but he was some fat dude (sorry only way I remembered him) he was walking past me and half assed asked me if I need any help finding anything and I asked him yes I need help finding something for my dog to chew b/c she goes through chew toys fast. He rolled his eyes and walked his way to me. Immediately I'm like oh hell no but I decided to give this guy a shot maybe he's having a bad day. He continues to lecture me on how maybe my dog is bored and isn't stimulated enough, so I told him ok well what do you recommend I do or what toy can she be entertained with mind you I also told him I have 4 other dogs as well. With the biggest attitude he continues to say that it doesn't matter if I have ten dogs or a big property it's my responsibility to stimulate them and pay attention to them. I don't know what kind of training these people at petco get but they need to get a class on customer service because I came at this guy nice and had the patience for him!!!! Which is usually the other way around his attitude makes him give this petco a bad rep. I will never return to this store again it has the worst customer service, everything is overpriced compared to Petsmart and at least I know at petsmart they would NEVER give me thhis type of treatment. If I were you guys I would just make the drive to go to petsmart sorry petco but this is a terrible store. read more

We buy our dog food here. They have the Blue brand of dog food. The store is always clean. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of fish for fish tanks. They also have hermit crabs. read more

They had me waiting at aquatics for a long time with no employee ever coming to help me. The cashier was nice and kept calling for someone to come help me but no one ever did. After the third time asking her i just decided to call the store so i wouldn't have to walk to the front anymore. After waiting for a long time i just decided to leave and try again tomorrow considering it's the only pet store for miles. I like coming here because the staff is very friendly and helpful. Every time I ask where an item I'm looking for is located they not only tell me but they walk me to the aisle that it's on. The store is kept clean and stocked. The dog trainers are accommodating and patient. My now 1 1/2 year old American Bulldog took puppy classes and learned some great obedience training. When I bring my dog shopping with me I'm allowed to get a treat from the dog bar. I also like that they have an adoption program for both cats and dogs. read more

I really like this particular PetCo. Their prices are pretty much average for this type of store but they do carry a pretty wide range of items for different kind of animals. The thing I like most about this PetCo is all the staff are super friendly and seem to really like animals. I brought a small dog I rescued from the pound in, they made sure I had all his shots (which I did), the helped me find a collar which fit and put it on him and they have an awesome machine there to make a dog tag on the spot. I am one of those people if you show me good customer service I will always return. read more

The customer service at this location is horrible. We went in to do the dog grooming and the girl told us they were booked for three weeks, we weren't in a hurry so we booked anyway. They called us the next day and told us they had an opening for the next day and for the following Sunday. When we arrived to our grooming appointment the lady told us she couldn't take our shot record because the vet had hand written it and she was too busy. We also payed for the puppy classes and every time we showed up they were cancelled. We decided to get our money back but were told we could only get store credit. Celes the cashier was extremely rude she kept saying snarky comments under her breath and told us if other customers came in she had to help them first. The store was empty at the time by the way. After reading some of the other comments it seems that I'm not the only one who has dealt with bad customer service here. I will not be returning to this store. read more

I went to this petco yesterday and I was looking at the Betta fish. I was just looking around and wasn't planning on buying one. This lady that works there came up to me and told me you can't buy a fish unless you are 18 years old. (I am an adult and older than 18) Mind you I didn't ask her any questions; I was just minding my business. I was offended by this and I was upset that she was assuming. She just saw me looking at the fish and she came up to me and told me this. I don't remember the lady's name but she was an older lady and was tall. She was rude and didn't have a reason to tell me that I had to be 18 to buy a fish. read more

Very friendly male employee in fish section but when you get a female employee they don't know how to answer your questions! Last visit I got an employee who thought she was the fish police! Rude with an instant attitude and short tempered replies and had to fight with her to have purchase an algae eater! My tank is none of their business! I can not believe how irresponsible the groomers are at this location. They have a hard time figuring out if the dog is female or male. Every few months we bring our lab mixes in to have them groomed, the male gets a bath and brush and the female get shaved. When I call in I tell the groomer that I want my female shaved, and my male washed and brushed. She states ok just like the last three times, I said yes. So my wife drops of my dogs, with their collars clearly showing which dog is which, also one dog is black the other is chocolate. So she goes to pick the dogs up and they shaved the wrong dog. How can they shave the wrong dog, the black female was to be shaved, the one with the thick coat. But they shaved the Chocolate male with the very thin coat. I don't understand how they can screw this up. So what do they say, the switch the paper work. how can you switch the paper work, we have two very different dogs. They didn't try to accept any blame, and had my wife pay the full price. Once my wife called me and told me, I told her that they need to waive everything because of their screw up. once my wife talked to the manager, she still only offered a discount and not a full refund. I had to call the manager and demand a full refund. So finally agreed to that, but instead of having someone start working on my dog, she wont be available for another hour and a half. This is the 2nd time they screwed up, the first time they painted my males nails after I told them to paint my females. This is the last time I will be going to that location. read more

I bought three neon tetras from this Petco and one died 2 days later. (I have not bought neon tetras from Petco for close to 2 years now due to their hassles with returns). I took the dead fish and water back to Petco initially for an exchange. The staff said I need to have the fish in one bag and the water in another bag. This was never explained to me when I bought the fish. When I bought the neon tetras this time, I noticed there was already one dead fish in the tank, but I decided against my better judgement. Today, I saw several dead fish at the bottom of the tank so I think it's best I get a refund instead. Then the older grey straight hair lady who looks like the manager at the register gave me a hard time about how I exchanged for fish before and this would be the last time. It is outrageous. If they take better care of their fish, maybe the fish would be healthier. Why is it always the customer's fault? That is why I have reservations buying neon tetras from Petco. Btw, my five neon tetras from PetSmart I bought over a year ago are thriving in my tank still. Overall, terrible customer service and return policy. Will never buy another fish or live animal from this Petco ever again! read more
