I came today for an appointment with vetco for nextguard (flea treatment) the guy checking me in was so polite and even updated my information for easy access. There was practically no waiting and I was then assisted my Dr. Dylan (vet) who was very polite, professional and friendly with my dog. His helper Brandon was also very professional and friendly. Since I had such a good experience with vet I decided to do the walk in grooming and paid for two services and the groomer was amazing. I will be back to book a bath and cut with this groomer. He was gentle with my dog and listened to all my concerns. This experience exceeded my expectations and hope others will not hesitate to bring their pets to this location. read more

I brought my 17-year-old dog here for grooming and I am extremely upset with the experience. Before his appointment, I specifically explained how I wanted his hair cut--his usual poodle-style haircut--and made it very clear that because of his age, I wanted them to be especially gentle and careful with him. What I got back was completely different from what I asked for. They shaved his body and legs extremely short, cut down the hair around his head and ears, and even shaved his entire tail. What poodle haircut involves shaving ALL of the hair off the tail? He barely looks like the same dog. I understand that sometimes adjustments have to be made because of matting or other issues, but if they felt they could not do the haircut I requested, I should have been contacted BEFORE they made the decision to shave him this drastically. Nobody called me to ask for permission or explain that they needed to completely change the haircut I requested. What makes this even more upsetting is that he is 17 years old. I trusted them with my elderly dog after specifically expressing my concerns about his age and asking them to handle him with extra care. Seeing him come back like this was heartbreaking. And somehow, they still charged me for the grooming service. I cannot understand how you can completely disregard what a customer specifically requested, shave a poodle from his body down to his tail, and then charge the customer as though the service was performed as agreed. I have photos of how my dog normally looks after grooming versus how he was returned to me, and the difference speaks for itself. This was absolutely not the haircut I requested or expected. A continued awful experience - bad communication, uniformed staff & terrible customer service. Against my better judgement after a previous not so great experience Previously I have tried the "walk in" service they offer online & on the menu in store. They however don't actually offer same day or drop in appts for any service. After then being told I had to make an appt but couldn't make in store, I needed to make online. Rather confusing and frustrating. When I brought my pup in a few days later at 7A and was told she would be ready By 1P. I called to see if she was ready for pick up and told she wouldn't be ready for another 2 - 3 Hours. Against my better judgement after a previous not so great experience I booked an appt on a Friday, when I called they offered to bring my pup in later that afternoon or on Sunday. After making an appt for Sunday, Receiving multiple text messages, and email confirmation. I just received a phone call 3 hours before her appt saying they are refusing to take her, based on "a note" in the system that I was unhappy with the previous visit and they would not provide service. If you would not like my business - I am fine with that. But I would suggest you tell that to a customer at the time as your "notes" are inaccurate from my perspective. It's a heck of a way to try and keep a customer. When I asked why I was able to make an appt if you did not want my business, I was told it was an error on their part & they shouldn't have taken the appointment. While I tried to give them another chance for their mistakes which they clearly admitted to me. Rather than make an effort to wow me, make things smooth and keep a customer. They elected to refuse service. There are many ways for this to have been resolved and this is not one of them I was looking forward to being impressed by giving them another chance. I bought 13 items of cat food , by the time I got home checking the receipt I was billed for 14 items . And some items that I was told on sale at adiscount price is actually not and was billed as regular price .. I have 2 jobs and to go back to the store to argue would means I have to do undertime at work the next day which is more hassle for me..... maybe it's my fault for not checking but if they keep tricking customers this way .. this is NOT a good store to go to.. so beware to those who will come to this store .. The employees get five stars. I am only a retail customer there so I've never used the dog grooming, but they are usually friendly and competent. But they are understaffed and put in an impossible situation. I don't know what it is at the store, but every single transaction takes so unbelievably long. Every time I want to buy something one of the cash tills is jammed up with the cashier on a telephone over a customer issue. Somebody is returning something. Someone has a problem with their rewards account. Someone's phone number doesn't work. There's always some enormous issue and it takes so unbelievably long compared to even other Petco locations. I don't know if they can fix it. But really avoid this place at all costs. read more

I never had a bad experience until today. I called the store asking about the status of an order placed over the Petco app (1 order was about $10 and the other was over $90) I knew the $10 order was ready for pick up but noticed that the $90 order was "still in progress." So I called to inquire about it. When I tried to explain the situation, Tisha was being rude and did not give me a chance to explain my situation. When I asked her about the second order she said there wasn't one. However, the payment had gone through. Before I can explain, she interrupts and keeps repeating that the order is done. "It's done. It's done." I tried to get clarification on whether she understood which order I was inquiring about but she kept interrupting and stated she had other customers. While I can understand that it might have been busy, there are other ways to help a customer over the phone. There's another review about this employee that I would definitely considering reading. Took my dog for a full bath and cut that was 80$+ , they barely touched her fur, she looks the exact same and they were supposed to trim her nails and she came back with them being the exact same length. Never coming back to get her groomed. The most they did is wash her. Not worth the money. Ridiculous. After checking in, I was told to make my way back to the clinic. As I approach the office, I call out to confirm that the room is ready and the vet is completely confused. A vet tech comes and says we need to get on the scale outside of the office first. We get the weight then a pair of clients that checked in after me enter the vet office. Nobody says anything in terms of instructions for next steps. I'm outside of the office confused. When they retrieve me, it's instantly apparent the vet is nervous of my dog. She flinches are her barking/whining as we enter the office and ended up unintentionally poking her twice with different syringe needles. I've been taking my dog here to get groomed for the past year. They always tell me my dog is doing good when he's getting groomed. I think they tell me that so they can get a tip from me. They never tell me anything about my dogs behavior while he waits almost 3 to 4 hours to get groomed. If you take your dog at 1, your dog won't be done until like 5. I tried making an appointment through the app and a message saying "Based on your dog's personalized needs and previous appointment history, please call your local Petco grooming salon to reschedule or rebook an appointment". Which is very unprofessional on their end because I always ask about my dog's behavior when I go pick him up. They never advised me about any situation that happened with my dog while he was groomed. They just made it seem like he was the best dog ever when I went to pick him up. I don't see why you would add that message to my account when you don't even advise the dog owner to his face when he pick up the dog. Avoid this Petco at all cost they will lie to your face. My dog is a Belgian Malinois sweet, super friendly and can be very hyper. Upon arrival, she immediately starts off with "we are very busy today" and I said "okay but he does have an appointment" -- she replies "yes I know but if he becomes stressed and starts pooping and peeing in the cage and chewing the cage, we wont be able to groom him". So I replied "has he ever done that before?" and she replied "NO?" and I replied "so why would he start doing that now?" She replied well I'm just letting you know if he does we will not be able to groom him. I then replied, "well, what would you like for me to do? Do you want me to come back on another day after I made an appointment for today?" and she said "YES" I said, "but you don't have any appointments before Christmas" she said "well I'm just letting you know that if he starts getting stressed, we're not to groom him" and I replied "well why do you think he would be stressed to the point where he would pee and poop in the cage and he's never done that before? he's never chewed on a kennel - he's used to kennels - he's been in a kennel since i rescued him at 3 weeks - he's used to other dogs he had a brother until the brother died two years ago." JILL replies, "I just wanted to let you know so in case I have to call you in an hour to come get him" .... I left my dog with her and but i never exited the parking lot and less than 10 minutes later, I get a phone call, not from JILL the groomer, not from the manager, but another groomer by the name of SOPHIA advising that my dog was too stressed for them to groom. So I asked her "are you the manager?" She replied "NO" -- I replied I need to talk to the manager, the manager should be calling me -- the manager got on phone snd stated the same -- so it was clear that JILL THE GROOMER just didn't want to do my dog - she didnt want to put the extra effort in to groom a dog that is hyper but not destructive or dangerous - he's been going to PETCO Anaheim Hills since he was old enough to get groom (he is now 6 years old) and HE HAS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN ANAHEIM HILLS so clearly its JILL THE GROOMER @ PETCO REDONDO BEACH because when the manager was handling him we both agreed he was calm so obviously my dog was feeding off of JILL's FOUL ENERGY -- one thing about dogs and especially my dog he immediately picks up on your energy in particular "your energy towards me". If you are my genuine friend, he wont bark at you he will, in fact, rub against your leg and sit next to you BUT if you are an enemy or pretending to be my friend and you are not, MY DOG KNOWS and he will either bark, become hyper and if he senses you are a threat to me, his hair will stand up -- once he lunged at a guy who months later ended up causing intentional damage to my car. Long time Petco customer and have never felt so insulted by Manager willy. I showed up for my grooming appointment time early, as instructed by the email and text sent to me. The manager told me no one is available until my appointment time, so I should come in at that time. I explained that last time I showed up at my scheduled time the groomer told me I have to show up 10-15 mins. prior to my appointment to check in. Manager willy then laughed at me and called me a liar (his exact words) and told me "no one would tell you that, only if there's a line and there's no line so no one would've told me to come in early. " If manager willy paid attention I said the last appointment had the groomer told me this. Extremely disappointed in manager willy's unprofessional attitude and to call a customer a liar is absolutely unacceptable. I will not be returning to this location until there is a change of management or at the very least retraining employees on how to interact with customers. read more

Was a manager) she was above average with friendly, attentiveness and helpfulness. The last time I was here was in November 2007. (I'm pretty sure of this because that's when I got my very first dog - Flash - and my go-to at the time for pet anything was this store.) But that didn't last too long. In all honesty, their prices are just way too high for everything. I found other outlets for Flash's needs - mostly online, really. Flash passed away last year, and one year later, I adopted another puppy. Although this hasn't been my go-to for over a decade, it's the only place I know where I can get a dog tag STAT. I came through specifically just for that. Luckily, they were having a Thanksgiving weekend sale, so I ended up with a few toys ($2 for $5?!!? SCORE!) Hm I tried this location again vs going to Healthy Spot. Unfortunately the same thing happened w/ the same food that my dog usually eats (Honest Kitchen). This also happened when I purchased Purina Pro. The kibble is discolored (pale cardboard brown vs deep bright with carrot/orange bits) and my dog's excrement have been sludgy. I was told by an ex employee that they do not throw away expired food (may or may not be true). I think they either restamp their expired food OR they are buying from a cheap counterfeit source. Placed a same day delivery order with this location. The delivery should have arrived by 6.30 pm. At around 6:30 I checked the status of my order it still said processing. Called the store the gentleman ask me my name and said the order was sitting waiting on Door Dash to deliver it. I found that to be kind of odd because as I was speaking with him, I received a notification from Petco saying the order was ready. Ask him for the number to door dash. Placed a call to door dash as I was asking them why my order hadn't been picked up and delivered. I was informed they hadn't received anything from Petco to be delivered to my address. As I was speaking to door dash, the rep informed me they just received it and a driver was on the way to pick it up. Less than 5 minutes later, I received a txt saying the driver was on the way. If I could give this place zero stars or a -1 star... I would. Where do I begin? Upon my arrival normally most pet stores I go to they greet you. I never got a greet once I entered inside. My appointment was for 10:15 am I was there at 10:14 in line, but the front desk receptionist was assisting another dog/pet owners. That dog urinated and pooped. He was not a fan of the vibe/energy that Those stylists were giving him. Although pets cannot speak, they do know vibes. That was my sign right there and then to not take my dog here to be groomed. I'm standing in line for about a good six minutes. Finally someone comes to assist. No good morning/ greeting no apologies for the wait just "what's your dogs name?" I gave him my dog's name and he asked for his vaccination. I gave it to him. All of a sudden he starts to say how long did I have my dog? I replied "about 11 days now" and then he says "oh they usually require for a dog to be with their owner for at least a month before getting groomed" I I told him "well why wasn't that on the website? Why wasn't that stated when booking you they send endless text messages on the appointment, but nothing specifying what they require?" Pure BS if you ask me. My dog is an anxious dog I mean go figure, I just rescued him, but he's a good dog. The attitude from the stylist and his nonchalant demeanor made me just refuse the service all in all. No sorry for for the inconvenience. This location is Petco's Customer service is pure TRASH. Dog owners if you can go to another Petco, I however, ended up going to a Petsmart and they took great care of my dog with no problem and no complaints. Shame on this Petco! Came by here on my way home to return an item I got from another Petco last night. Mind you this was a brand new toy that would not turn on (it is supposed to spin with batteries- tried 3 sets of new batteries and it did not work). 1) Staffing: all the posts about staffing are correct. When I got to the line to return, there was only one person there and she spent the entire time just talking to one customer. It wasn't until another coworker noticed and stepped in that the line started moving again. Even the coworker turned to her like "what are you doing over there?" 2) Service: when I finally got to the front to return the item, I was told that I would not get the full price back for the item because I used PAL REWARDS. That I would only get half of what I paid back. I had to question this because Pal Rewards is supposed to be cash that I have to my name. I even had to say "so you're telling me I have to essentially pay for a broken toy that I am returning?" She finally understood what I was saying and called a manager. To the cashier who really did try to understand and the manager, they tried to resolve by crediting me back. The compromise was that I would get it credited if I purchased something. Resolved right? Wrong. I went to get cans of food, and the manager looked and asked if I can get dry food instead. No, the cat only eats wet food.. what about litter? No I don't need litter. Manager proceeded to say they won't be able to do it, that it would be difficult to do with cans of food. Directed me to call CUSTOMER SERVICE to try to get my money back because they can't refund me. I was told that I should use my pal rewards on things I intend to keep- UH EXCUSE ME?? I intended to keep this toy and its not my fault the toy DOES NOT WORK. 3) False Advertisement Placement: then, to make matters worse, the cans I grabbed which had a sign right under them listing for sale- did not show up on the cashier as on sale. Manager asks me to walk over to the aisle to show. I go over and they pointed out these are not on sale because the signs say its only for the bigger cans. I told her thats incredibly misleading because its literally right under the entire row of cans I took from. She moved the sign. The fact that I can't even get a refund for a toy that came broken is insane, and then to top it all off with this entire experience has been an annoying experience. Lesson learned: Stick to the La Tijera location where you can get full refunds or just charge back your credit card rather than come to this location. read more

Take for instance just today I receive very indepth and useful information from the Aquatic specialist Jose! He took the time out to explain to this NOOB EXACTLY how to cycle my new freshwater tank, he told me the best method to use...and he did MORE than the countless videos online failed to do for me...he gave me STEP by STEP instructions on WHEN and HOW to check the levels!! And thats how I personally preform best in any new endeavor I know NOTHING about....Hey just flat out TELL me how to do it!!! I've got NO shame is saying I don't know what the Hell I'm doing!!!! This Petco store offers a wide variety of products. Although the parking lot is chaotic, the staff inside are all very friendly and knowledgeable about everything, showing great love and care for animals. Especially Elisa and Eric, their patience is like that of angels, never failing to please every customer. They go out of their way to help customers find everything their pets need and provide excellent service. If any issues arise, they are exceptionally patient in assisting customers in resolving them. I am not a big fan of Petco, as I mostly shop online, but the staff at Petco are just so friendly and warm that I now visit them every day for my pets, vets, grooming and pets supplies.
