At other places she comes home anxious and unsettled, but that has never happened here. The staff truly cares about the dogs, and the personalized updates they send are thoughtful and reassuring. We love that they keep the number of dogs small so the environment never feels chaotic or overwhelming. Every update shows Frankie looking relaxed and genuinely happy, and she always comes home healthy, calm, and in a great mood. It's completely worth it for the peace of mind when we travel. For the past 5 years, A Bark Idea has been such a special part of Summit's life--and mine. :) I've been bringing my Golden Retriever there since the day I brought him home, and he has truly grown up with Cami and Kelsey and the Bark Idea Team. I honestly can't imagine those early years (or now) without them. What means the most to me is the complete trust I have in their care. Even when I've been traveling for work in other countries--literally on the other side of the world--I have never worried once. I always know Summit is safe, loved, and having the very best time. And he does have the best time--he still runs in with the same excitement as he did on day one. (I cried that first day when he was just a pup and it was my first time leaving him, but Cami hugged me and told me he was going to be just fine and most happy there - and those words are still true to this day!) It's truly his home away from home. My Toula has been with A Bark Idea since she was NINE WEEKS old (she'll be 3 years in December!) and it's been such an amazing place for her! She is so well-cared for and EVERY SINGLE PERSON that works there genuinely LOVES your pup!!! Toula went through training when she first started and we still practice at home all the time. She's such a good girl and has very good manners! When I have to board her, I know I am leaving her in the BEST environment and care. I can go on vacation (or have surgery!) without worrying about her. She's not crated and just walked a few times a day. She is playing with her buddies (human and furry friends!) and living her best life! The locations are clean and she has NEVER gotten sick or had an injury. Toula spent the day in MDR; I'm trying to figure out how to get her there (at least once a week!) given I work/live in the South Bay. Five stars does not adequately communicate how special A Bark Idea is! We have been taking our giant breed, nine-month old, 100 lb. Leonberger puppy, Oso, here since he was three months old. It was so important to us that we find a place that would teach him not only the best manners, but love him as much as we do. Cami, Justin, Kelsey, Alyssa and the gang are truly our extended family. They care for Oso and all the boo's like they are their own fur babies. From boarding to bath time and all the puppy school training - we would be lost without them. We adore that every day Oso is with them - we get photo updates on how the day is going - and video examples on how to reinforce the training that they worked on at home. As a big dog family it was so important to us that Oso learn not only socialization skills with other dogs (especially smaller breeds - which is basically all of them :) - but also customized training. A Bark Idea's positive reinforcement approach to training ensures that trust is established early on in addition to the creation of a safe space. We really wanted to like A Bark Idea from all the great reviews, but we found it to be a mixed bag. Our dog went through the puppy school and has done daycare there. He did love going there and playing with the other dogs, it was great from a socialization stand point, but the training was minimally effective. The puppy school was great in that it is customized to whatever you want them to work on and they would send videos of the training they did. But we found that the training never really translated to our dog's behavior at home. They worked on having him not bark at new people, and it seemed to work on the training videos but he would still bark at home. We wanted to work on brushing his teeth but the farthest they got was getting him to touch the toothbrush with his nose/mouth, not actually letting us brush his teeth. Maybe we just brought him in when he was too old (9 months old) but for how expensive it was, we didn't see much of a difference or change in behavior at home. The other mixed bag was that our dog got sick several times when he was going here. From giardia, ear yeast infection, to some other bug that made him really sick, going here was the only place he was interacting with other dogs that he could've gotten it from. He would also sometimes come home soo sweaty and dirty -- this is understandable given that he seems to be playing all day, but it was gross and made us concerned that he wasn't getting enough rest/sleep as a puppy. The last thing was that he would come home with visible scratches! They were scratches in places that he wouldn't have been able to reach himself like his back. When we asked about this, they said that it's normal and expected that scratches happen when dogs play together, but I'm pretty sure the previous puppy school we took him to did not allow that kind of behavior between dogs. I felt bad and didn't want him to keep coming home with injuries. I'm pretty sure he picked up some bad behaviors here too like nipping at our friend's dog's ears when she clearly doesn't like it, which has made it hard to have play dates. This wasn't something he did before attending A Bark Idea. The hours for daycare can be difficult since they don't do daycare fri-sun, only boarding, and pickup is at 6pm, which can be hard if you're working until 5:30. I wanted to add this more nuanced review since it wasn't a raving success like we had hoped. I do think it's still a nice place and the staff are friendly, but it didn't work out for our dog and I would hesitate to bring him back here unless we were really in a pinch. read more

My daughter has a service dog (Lola) that isn't able to go to school with her. She still has a LOT of puppy energy and gets bored and anxious when she isn't working. She also LOVES other dogs and missed the daily interaction of her classmates at the training ranch where she did her SD completion. By the time my daughter would end her days at school, Lola would be unfocused, would heighten my daughter and they'd BOTH be disregulated and anxious. A Bark Idea has been a godsend! Lola loves the ENTIRE team! Being a service dog, it is important to us that Lola has close eyes on her and is not in an environment that derails her teaching. A Bark Idea delivers that above and beyond our expectations. I receive updates every day on how she is doing with frameworthy photos accompanying them. Every time I pick Lola up, she's happy, calm and ready to work. It's a much better pairing with my daughter. Finally, I love the idea there is a big part of Lola's life that is JUST for her. I think we all need that. Dogs are no exception. Her relationships with the team and her daycare buddies are SO important to all of us. We feel so lucky to have found A Bark Idea! Our 9 month old pup, Daisy, started when she was about 4 months old and A Bark Idea quickly became her second family. I cannot think of a better place for puppy training & daycare. We recently rescued a puppy and were in desperate need of some direction. Cami & Kelsey have made the whole process so much better. I've had dogs before, but never a puppy. Within the first 24 hours of my puppy Ollie arriving home, I started to question my decision to get a puppy. I searched online for any resources that could help me and stumbled upon A Bark Idea. Kelsey was quick to respond and provide some helpful tips before we could get Ollie in for some Board and Train. A Bark Idea uses "pawsitive" reinforcement training -- no ecollars or prongs here! After two weeks, Ollie came home adjusting well to his crate, potty trained, and knew all his basic commands (Sit, Come, Place, Stay). Since his first Board and Train, Ollie has gone back for Boarding, Daycare, and even MORE board and train sessions. Now our Board and Train sessions are completely customized focused on areas Ollie needs some help with. Case in point-- Ollie is now 7 months of teenage fluff. He's been regressing a bit at home and really trying to push boundaries and house rules. He's also suffered from extreme anxiety in the car (we've had several vomit, pee, poo incidents driven his anxiety). Kelsey and Cami were able to help Ollie so much that today, Ollie no longer drools in the car. He literally chills in his seat, calm, focused, and follows all commands (even gives me high fives!). At home, Ollie's become more confident. He now wanders to his playpen and entertains himself, when I'm busy. He's following commands again and just seems like a much more well adjusted puppy. literally not the same puppy I dropped off-- it's been 4 days and he's still the most polite little boy :) A Bark Idea is such a great place-- Ollie loves it so much, he rushes in without looking back at me... ever. I cannot recommend A Bark Idea enough. When you choose a business to help train your puppy, you want to find trainers that will love your pup just as much as you and this is that place. Cami, Kelsey, and Justin have so much love and compassion for these dogs and it shows. Even before my pup started at Happy Puppy School, I had an open line of communication with A Bark Idea while I was crate training, which almost broke me, but they helped me through it and helped me with my confidence that I was doing the right thing and it would get better each day. AND IT DID! I chose to put my puppy in Happy Puppy School and it was so worth it. I chose the 24 lessons package and each day, I received a video message of what they worked on each day so I could practice with my pup. You really have to understand that the work they do with your dog at school, you have to come home and practice with your dog because they need to learn to listen to you too. The socialization that the puppies get at school is so important, not to mention, the amount of energy they expend all day makes it easier at the end of the day for you! A Bark Idea has been like a family to us since we started bringing Benny to Happy Puppy school. This was our first time adopting a puppy (previously had two older huskies) so training was very new to us. We knew we wanted to work with positive reinforcement trainers which is how we found A Bark Idea, and they have been amazing! The facilities are cleaned regularly and were safe enough for Benny to meet other dogs/puppies to get socialization in during his first few weeks. Benny also received incredible attention and love from the staff who regularly sends us pictures of our cutie. This review is long overdue, but Cami is THE GREATEST! I met Cami in January 2019 to discuss a board and train with my labradoodle puppy Tofu. I was going to be gone for 4 days and was super nervous about leaving her. Cami came over to my place to meet Tofu, and get a general understanding about what I was looking for and to just meet the puppy before agreeing to anything. Tofu LOOOVED her. While I was away, Cami kept me updated with what was going on and would send me photos. When I returned and Cami dropped her off, my puppy was like a brand new puppy. We recently moved to the west coast. One of the things we were most nervous about was finding a new daycare for our Australian Shepherd, Tuwa. Thankfully we found A Bark Idea! I first heard about them online and the moment I learned it was run by certified positive reinforcement trainers, I had to reach out to them. This was really important to me especially after we had a bad experience at another local place where we saw dogs being punished for healthy play Since Tuwa's first temperament test, she has stayed a few times for overnights. We never worry when she is there and are so thankful for their picture updates and how accommodating they are with our requests (giving Tuwa medicine, special sleeping arrangements, etc) We can tell how much they love the dogs and Tuwa definitely loves them back. In fact, any time we're there to drop her off, she scratches at the door because she's so excited to be let in. One last note -- daycare here is definitely more expensive than we've seen at other places BUT it is SO WORTH IT for us to know Tuwa is well taken care of. I can't thank A Bark Idea enough for being the best dog trainers and doggy day care I could ask for! I rescued my little guy Pickles at 8 weeks old and he was super fearful of everything. He started A Bark Idea Puppy School at 11 weeks old and the rest is history! The first few times I dropped him off he was shaking and scared (separation anxiety), but that quickly changed. His third day of school he was wagging his tail as we pulled up to A Bark Idea, jumping up and down at the gate and when he was greeted by the team at the door he didn't even look back at me. He loves training with Cami and Kelsey, as do I because let's face it, the humans usually need more training than the dogs. Pickles has learned all basic commands and more, leash training and how to socialize with other dogs of all ages and sizes. They've helped Pickles to gain confidence as he gets older and taught me ways to work with him on my own. I also recently boarded him for the first time and he did so well! I wouldn't trust anyone else to watch him overnight. I love getting all the updates of Pickles hanging with other pups and I mean just look at the photos, I'd say that's a happy little guy! After bringing my puppy home, I invested in training, training and more training. unfortunately I didn't know about A Bark Idea's puppy training program and found them only after I needed a place to send my then 8 month old high energy Benedoodle. I called them in desperation and left a message. They called within 8 hours and let me know they would love to have my hyper puppy and to bring her the next day to try out the daycare. Needless to say, she was a perfect fit and has been attending 4 days a week since. She absolutely loves it and gets so excited as we drive up to the front door. Where to start?! Cami is AMAZING! She has a very deep understanding of dogs and their many behaviors, habits, and temperaments. Within only 2 private sessions, our 4 month old pup is picking up commands and learning SO quickly. She has given us, as dog owners, the knowledge we needed to set the right pace with training our pup early, ensuring he grows up with a strong understanding of what it means to have "puppy manners"! First of all, let me just say Cami is AMAZING!! My friend who was supposed to watch my 3.5 month old puppy got sick TWO days before I was supposed to go out of town for a wedding. So I was calling around scrambling to find someone to watch my baby when I found Cami! She was so sweet and even came by my house to meet my puppy (Lila) the day before I left. While I was gone, she sent me text updates with pictures/videos multiple times a day on how Lila was doing! She helped Lila with her crate training, sit, stay, lay down, "go to your bed" and so much more.
