So Saturday I go to get dog food before the cold winter mess arrives. The mess wasn't to get here till Sunday around 10am. I get there to the store only to be told can't come in and shop cause we are closing early cause of weather. Employees said were only here for online orders. Employee says we have to stay whole time cause we don't know when people will arrive to get online order. Makes no sense. This review is more about the Puppy training than the store itself. I have shopped at this store for our pets a bunch and the service is always friendly and helpful. When we got our new Boxer Puppy, I knew I wanted to be able to send her to dog training. I chose this location for its proximity to my house. Nichole(?spelling) was the person who walked me thru the setup of the classes, the info over the phone and the training itself. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. Every time we met, she had treats for our puppy and a schedule of what we were going to go over. She gave homework, and encouragement to the kids to continue the training at home. At the end of the training, Luna (puppy) got a certificate, and a bag full of yummy treats. Overall a great value and I will definitely be back for puppy 102!!! Thanks Petco!!! read more

Sure, they will gladly sell you a mass-bred pet, but they provide little range of healthy products to support them. The location is rarely thoroughly stocked and often poorly-staffed. The two stars is due to the polite workers, although they are not very knowledgeable about most of the items they offer. I am so upset, I can't even articulate how horribly the grooming department has screwed us over. My husband came in to drop our Pomeranian off. He had a full coat of fur and the groomer was asked to keep his mane and chest full and fluffy and just clean up around his butt so he wouldn't get anything stuck in his fur back there. My dog came home completely shaved. Any groomer should know to NEVER shave a Pomeranian. His fur will likely never grow back the same and now he isn't safe to go outside in these winter temperatures. My husband didn't know what to do so he paid and left and we are out $50 for this cut that has likely done irreparable damage to our dogs coat. If I wasn't currently crying, I would be on the phone with management but I can't even look at my dog let alone speak to someone about him without having a meltdown. Just had a bad experience with Petco in the grooming dept. The employee was rude, with no skills to resolve issues. It took me 45 min to drive there and even after speaking with the manager still got no resolution. Many of today's corporations take advantage of their customers and I totally felt disrespected and taken advantage of as a customer. I spent 100s of dollars in this store but never again. Took away 3 stars for grooming. One star for the vet tech who gave my dog her shots and one star for the cashier who was extremely nice the day before today. I called to schedule an APPOINTMENT at 1pm for my dog to be groomed. Now typically when you set an appointment anywhere, it means you will be seen at that time right? I guess not here. My dog was there 5 hours??? I took her in and the lady started sighing "ugh it's gonna be a long day" then asked me what kind of dog I had. She wrote her down as a corgi, I have no idea why. My dog is a mutt, but she's extremely fluffy and has a chow chow tongue. She told me shaving her was not an option. Ok, fine, so I chose the option to have her undercoat brushed out. It's the reason I brought her, she's shedding really bad this year. I asked her to please not cut her fluffy ears, fluffy numb tail, or fluffy feet (they are so cute and unique). The lady took her to the back and told me it would be 2 hours until they called. I was hesitant to leave my dog because nobody seemed too happy working there. I'm not saying everyone should be jumping for joy at any job, but damn everyone looked so annoyed. I took the risk against my intuition and I regret it. $70 and 5 hours I could've been working later (I make my own hours), I finally got my dog back. The cut was the exact opposite of what I wanted. She's still shedding all over the place and the only hair cut was on her feet/legs/tail. I won't be coming back here ever. Should've listened to the other reviews and my gut about the grooming department. Just don't do it. read more

We have been buying various pet supplies from this location for a while without any problems. Yesterday we visited with the intent of purchasing fish for my son's aquarium... I have never seen so many dead fish in my life!!!!! It seemed like there were at least two in each and every tropical fish aquarium. They weren't busy at all so they didn't have time to clean the dead fish out? Really? And then there is the question of why there were so many dead fish. I'm no expert so maybe that is normal...we just don't know it because everyone else cleans out their dead fish regularly. There are two Petsmart locations near us...not as close...but it is worth the extra few minutes. read more

1st time taking our 2 dogs to Petco for grooming. From booking an appointment via phone, to getting our dogs groomed everything sucked BIG time. Our puppy is traumatized , they took more than half a day to groom our tiny baby(12 lbs) and ever since she came home she would not stop shivering. She would not let us touch her ear and showed distress, woke up screaming in the middle of the night. We had to go to urgent care the next day only to find out that her ear has been nicked and became an infection. She was put on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. She has been groomed by mobile groomers and she did so well. And our older boy, who is the most gentle and understanding baby ever , was banned from Petco. We were told that he did not stand the entire time and so it will be a safety hazard if he ends up sitting on the clippers. So they declared him unfit for their salon. We always took our older boy to PetSmart on univ blvd and his report card always states how he was such a good boy during the groom. The reason they gave us is bull shit! The groomers are extremely busy, understaffed but it's no reason to treat the salon as an assembly line. They should not take on more appointments than they can handle and make sure they really take care of their real customers(the dogs). We were baffled at how bad and reckless they were with the dogs. It was just unacceptable. We 100% regret trying Petco (Stonehill,Pflugerville)for our dogs. Our dogs are traumatized and will be scarred for a long time. If you love your dog even a little please please please do them a favor and DO NOT take them here. If not a great service, our fur babies deserve atleast a humane service. read more

Something is definitely wrong with this Petco -- The cat adoption area (which all Petco's I've been to have) stunk to high heaven -- clearly not kept clean. Several of the tanks in the aquatic area had water that was positively murky. Our normal groomer couldn't get us in until December so we decided to give them a try as they had openings. Our little Bella, a Shih Tzu turned out beautifully, even down to the request on the shape of her face. Poor Bentley not so well. A pure bred Pomeranian, I showed a picture of the cut we wanted, called a puppy cut. We wanted him a little shorter due to the wet weather. Even picked out the cut length based on Petco's display board, I picked the length in the middle- not too short, not too long. When I got the pups back I really didn;t realize how short it was until I got home. The guy had put Bentley's harness on and due to both pups and chaos of leaving the store, it didn't click. When we got home and for the next 2 days, Bentley has been acting very weird. He has been very quiet, lethargic and rubbing himself on the carpet a lot. He seems, sad. Last night upon further inspection we discovered that he has severe razor burns all across his belly and near his private parts, and he is extremely uncomfortable. It would be one thing for the guy to have told us, hey Bentley moved and I cut him a little to close. BUT NOTHING!!! Terrible service, terrible communication. WE ARE VERY UPSET. This location is the closest to our house and most convenient, this is the main location we visit. The employees are nice but sometimes hard to find help and it seems like the check out line is always out of control and there is never two people to help check out. My main reason for the low rating is that almost every time we buy our dog food (Blue Buffalo Wilderness) there are always bugs and what look like webs in the bag growing. This last time we returned the bag we were told that this can happen to any brand if it sits on the shelf too long. I do not know who is at fault, the dog food brand or petco for not moving stock when it goes bad or gets "old". We have switched dog food and hope to have better experiences going forward! read more

Not sure about this Petco. It is very close to my house, but oftentimes I will opt to drive to a better pet store further away. You can never find anyone to help you. They use the people who are suppose to be on the register to help you on the floor. Sometimes there is no one to check you out. Sometimes there is not one to get you crickets or fish. And not just for a minute or two. Staff seem demoralized. One of them is an outright grumpy old man. I will not even ask him for things anymore, as I don't want the attitude that accompanies any of his "help". Store itself is rather small and cramped... I've been going to this Petco regularly for at least 5 years. I mostly use this place as a grocery store our pets. Most of the staff is nice enough and will answer any questions. But after today I will no longer go there. I went there to get some crickets and asked an employee for help. He told me that he would be right over and help me. I waited for over 20 minutes and he never showed up. While waiting another worker grabbed crickets for a couple other customers who came there after me. I was going to wait till she was done and ask her for help but at that point I'd had enough and just wanted to leave. I was told that his name is Jeff by a couple other workers. This is not the first time this guy has done this to me this year. He's the worst. If it weren't for this guy I'd give this Petco 4 stars. read more

Poor Fred was in desperate need of a grooming. It was bad. He was offending himself, the poor thing. After canceling an appt with a local shop and being scared shitless by horrifying reviews for another local shop we decided to take him by Petco this morning to see if they could fit him in. Honestly we typically shy away from these big chain store groomers. So many times it seems that they have 19 year olds with lime green hair and facial piercings grooming the dogs. No offense to people with green hair 19 year old with piercings, but it doesn't exactly scream professional or experienced (the age). ANYWAY, the two ladies working agreed to fit us in, thankfully. Patricia, the groomer, did a great job. There were a few spots that were uneven, but his hair looks a billion times better, he smells great, his nails are trimmed and rounded, and he came out a happy boy. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the $60 bill. We've taken Fred to nice, independent groomers all over the Midwest and never paid more than $45. There was an additional fee for extra brushing to get his undercoat cleaned up, and a fee for rounding off his nails (we agreed to it), but I still feel like $60 is a bit steep for a 14 lb pomeranian. In the end though we feel comfortable with these ladies which is very important. I'm sure we'll be back for Fred's next grooming. read more

If I could put zero I would. Apparently kids can not use the restroom. It's only for employees use, due to covid rules. When I asked for an exception I was told to stop being rude etc etc. I refuse to support a business that turns away a 7 year old from using the restroom when employees are allowed to use both restrooms at any time. If that was not enough it was closing time, they will have to clean them anyway . More than frustrating. I would recommend going anywhere else. Besides they are overpriced, you can find a better deal online and have the luxury of using your restroom in the convenience of your own home. read more

Frustrating that the few times over the last few weeks I have gone there for shopping for my new puppy they are out of what I needed. The Furminator today was mostly all out with the exception for small breed dogs. The glass feed/water bowls were out or the drop in container they go with had minimal selection, the crates, beds, and the list goes on. This is a good place to stop at if you need pet supplies, but I don't think I could ever adopt a pet here. Their cat adoption area is awkwardly in the front by the registers, and they always look so sad and bored. It's kind of a depressing walk of shame by the registers. I feel like it should've been put in a different location to get better traffic; while pet adoptions can sometimes be impulse-driven, I can't think of anyone that would want to get one as they're checking out at the register. Other than that, the store is clean, stocked, and organized pretty well. I've always seen employees meandering around, but they do make a point to ask if you need any help with things. It's a small store so they don't have a lot of selection on some products, but I do really like their "natural" pet food area. Although not typically impressed, i have for the most part been satisfied with past grooming services when taking my previous dog to be groomed at Petco. He passed away last year and we recently adopted a rescued small poodle mix. We took her to be groomed at the Lakeline location and they were nice and prompt and treated my dog great. My dog did fine there. Last week I scheduled a 3pm appointment for a full groom and cut service with nail buffing at the Pflugerville location as it is closer. I spoke with the gal who would be grooming my dog and told her she was a newer rescue that had been groomed at Petco once before but a different location and she did very well, although she has anxiety. (Doesn't like to be alone). She proceeded to give me a good time to bring her in at 3pm. My 17 year old daughter dropped her off. Two hours later (5pm) she gets a call from the same gal I spoke with and asked if she's ever been professionally groomed before. Which AGAIN my daughter answered yes at Petco. She went on to explain that she just went to take her out of the cage and start with her paws and my dog "went crazy" and tried to nip at her. So they no longer want to give her a cut and would just bathe her. My daughter then immediately called me. I called the gal and asked why my dog would be sitting in a cage for two hours before she even started? She was silent for about 15 seconds and then apologized and said they had a lot of walk ins come in and are short handed. I asked her "so your telling me you took walk ins before your appointment and made my dog sit with her anxiety for two hours before starting?" Meanwhile I can hear my dog barking non stop in the background. This is NOT typically her behavior. She is extremely loving and if anything shakes if she gets scared or has anxiety. I received no call to let us know they were behind.. No call to ask if my dog would even still be able to handle the bath at this point given her behavior. She was CLEARLY tremendously stressed out ESPECIALLY being left in a cage for TWO HOURS. At that point I told her not to do anything and that my daughter would come pick her up. When my daughter got there the gal saw her and motioned to another gal to bring my dog out. The girl that brought my dog out asked my daughter "so what's wrong?" which really just irritated me more because she knew what was wrong and to be asked instead of just apologized too makes it more offensive at that point. Aside from that my dog jumped into my daughters arms and was crying. She got her into the car and my dog wouldn't stop whimpering and crying loudly which she has never done before for any reason. She ***updating 3/8/19*** I was contacted as a result of this post and spoke with a very nice manager who was apologetic and wanted to make it right and recommended we try a more experienced groomer Lupe and assured me she would be the right person to have groom my dog based on my dogs needs and offered to have her do it at no charge. After giving Nala some time hoping she wouldn't remember the experience we went ahead and booked an appointment with Lupe. She was great! Was caring and patient and understood the needs of my dog. We remained there and watched this time and at one point Nala freaked out when she went to cut the hair on her rear end. Lupe stopped and picked her up and hugged her and calmed her and then she let Lupe continue. Nala did great and so did Lupe. I appreciate that Petco made it right with us. Thank you! read more

I have gone to Petco for dog training with Kayla for two sessions (12 weeks) and both my dog and I enjoy our time in training but tonight pissed me off. While in training with another client the store Manager, Nicole, interrupted our PAID session to tell Kayla as soon as she was done to help out at the registers because she, Nicole, was busy. Kayla said she would and continued on with our class. Nearing the end of our class another employee, Jacob, came in and told Kayla that Nicole asked her to hurry up and finish so she could cover the register. First of all, I'm a PAYING customer. Why should my PAID service be rudely interrupted and cut short because the managers can't staff the store accordingly! Second of all, NEVER speak to an employee like that in front of a customer and Third, realize Kayla is with a customer so she can't leave one customer to attend to another nor should she! Manager, Nicole, was rude and disrespectful. I don't want to shop at a store that treats not only its customers but its employees like they are shit! I will NEVER give this store my business ever again! I took my Pomeranian puppy to be groomed - I specifically said, "bath, brush, sanitary trim - DO NOT CUT." When I picked my dog up, he was shaved!!! I was shocked! I did receive a refund, but the damage has been done. Anyone who has Poms (and anyone who grooms them) should know you don't shave them. Never mind that I specifically said NOT to! On my way home I called the store and spoke to the manager of the grooming salon. Not only was she rude and argumentative, when I argued back, she hung up on me! What kind of customer service is that?!? So I called the manager of the store and explained what happened, but he didn't sound too interested anyway. This is not how you run a business! Furthermore, when I dropped my dog off, the groomer informed me that was her last day and said if I liked her work to come see her. Apparently, she is starting her own business in downtown Pflugerville. Just a warning, STAY AWAY. Don't know her name, but she is an old lady with shaved hair. I have 2 dogs. I picked this store because it is so close to where I live. The first time I took the dogs in for grooming, everyone was nice enough and they did a good job, so I took them back a second time. At this visit, one of the staff (groomers) got on to me because my youngest dog was barking and she didn't like the way I handled him to get him to be quiet (I didn't do anything abusive!). She basically chastised me in front of everyone in the front of the store and my fiancé for the way I interacted with my own dog. Well... I let it go, although it upset me, and was going to call back for a 3rd grooming appointment. Never in my life have I been treated so rudely. First I was put on hold by the grooming dept. for so long that it re-rang the main phone. Then, I was put on hold again. This time, it disconnected me after being on hold for some time. Still, I called back. The 3rd call to the grooming dept. started with "Oh, it's you again" when I identified myself, and ended with a "Well, we just don't have an appt. available for both of your dogs, you'll have to bring them in on different days." Needless to say, I hung up and called a different groomer, at a different pet store (not another Petco). Even though it's farther away, I will take my dogs there, rather than be treated so poorly again. Maybe they're better now that they've been open longer, but I'm not willing to find out. read more
