I have repeat order for my dog food. I changed the date on Friday. Monday, I was told they could not find any food so it's been backordered. The Omaha store has the dog food, but they can't find any place. This is terrible. I thought they would be better than Chewy.com, they are not. I get my orders within 2 days not a week. The use of inappropriate language in front of guest, talking about guest holding up the line, stating Petco doesn't know what the Hell they are going since we can't seem to staff the store and if it wasn't for him they would close. This Petco location continues to go further and further down hill. There are a handful of good, kind employees like Mari (who is a treasure to this world) at the register and some of the pet care people but other than that this location has no redeeming qualities. The store is constantly a mess with palates all over, horribly maintained fish tanks and dried dog urine all over the isles. They even employ people in management positions who were FIRED from their number 1 competitor. The entrance to the store constantly wreaks of urine from customer dogs peeing (which happens but regularly cleaning would keep the odor under control. Clearly that isn't happening) The parking lot is a disaster, and has been for a long time. Drive careful because there are loads of potholes. Petco is responsible for managing the sidewalks outside of the store but the company they have hired to clear the parking lot and sidewalks does such a poor job that as I was leaving Saturday I saw a woman in a motorized wheelchair on the sidewalk with only one leg having to try her best to shovel out a path so she could get through. All the other surrounding businesses had clear sidewalks. Thankfully I was able to get out and shovel for her. It had been 4 days since the snow storm and the weather was beautiful out. There is absolutely no reason for such poorly maintained sidewalks that a disabled woman was having to try and shovel it herself. The management team should be paying attention and if their parking lot maintenance company can't get out there then a manager should be getting out there to shovel so that the community and customers can safely navigate the parking lot and sidewalks. I really enjoy chatting with people like Mari when I come each week to buy dog food, cat foot and crickets but until this store gets a major management change and remodel I will be limiting how often I frequent this location moving forward. read more

My dog, Roger, has attended three dog training courses at Petco, located on 72nd and Dodge (Fundamentals, Advanced, and the Good Citizen Caine course). Steve the trainer is the absolute best! He is extremely knowledgeable and has a deep love for animals, especially dogs! His methods work; he takes the time to ensure Roger is comfortable and that things at home are going well. If I could give this specific Petco location 0 stars I would! Please do not take your pet here. I took my 4 year-old indoor female cat (extremely friendly) here for a blood draw because I sensed that she had a UTI. The vet techs were extremely rude from the beginning and seemed as if they had zero empathy or affection for animals whatsoever. After they brought my cat back from a blood draw she seemed extremely distraught, which seemed fairly normal considering the circumstances. They said that they wouldn't get the UTI test results back right away, but asked if I would like to just proceed with antibiotics just to get a head start on things in case she tested positive for an infection. I said yes- these vet techs had no idea how to even give an injection. They had me hold her down and had to repeatedly poke her to the point that she was screaming, and ended up pulling the needle out and spraying the injection of the antibiotic all over my human arm and t shirt. The tech then left after saying said she needed help because I "couldn't control my cat". She then brought another tech with her, and they held my Cat down extremely aggressively, and again had to stab her several times with the needle before they even gave the injection. I started crying because I saw how distraught and scared my Cat was, and I have never witnessed her act like this while we were receiving an injection before. They offered zero apologies and were not kind or sympathetic. Horrible energy! The animals can sense it too, just don't go here! read more

If I could leave a zero rating I would. I took my chihuahua puppy to get her nails trimmed. This young girl was working back there and she took my dog in the back after telling me to go walk around the store. So I did for a few minutes. I then came back and she was yelling at my dog to sit still and to stop it! Her back was to me. My dog was terrified!! She got done and brought her back to me and basically threw her on the counter in front of me. I was sostunned I didn't know what to say. Took the dog and was walking out and my dog had diarrhea on the floor. She was terrified! Gwt her in the car and looked at her nails and it didn't look like she did anything!! Never ever ever again. I went here because I had a free wellness check and before they give you any medications or treatments they HAVE to perform tests which range from 30-250+ dollars EACH. That does not include the overpriced medication they prescribe to your pet. I do not recommend going here for vet purposes. What's the point of seeing a vet if they have to perform expensive tests to know what it is? I think a doctor should be able to have some idea since they went to school for this field and are considered doctors. If it's something serious I can see why it is necessary to perform tests but for minor things?? Is it that necessary to charge hundreds and hundreds of dollars for very minor problems?! read more

Took our shih tzu to get groomed & told the groomer don't touch ears or tail. Well, her tail looks like a rat & she clipped 1 ear & forgot the other. My girl looks lopsided. Shih tzus have dark tips on ears. She has 1 now. Didn't say anything as I figured it was too late & if Taylor wants to know why she didn't get a tip, that's why. Went here today to see what the difference was between here and PetSmart. My verdict is here the dog toys are a few bucks cheaper, the dog food and treats are the same to me in price, they do offer discount card also just like pet perks at PetSmart where you give them your phone number at the checkout and you get points and you get Emil's so often on coupons as well just like pet perks. Yes you can bring your dog as well as long as it's on a leash. Customer service is very friendly as well just like PetSmart to. Great thing about this place is not busy at all so you have no long lines to wait in. It's a clean place as well to smell of pets. read more

I've been to Petco in the past and I have to say it has really gone down hill over the years. I wanted to get soft paws for my cat (those are little plastic caps that go over their claws) so she'd stop scratching herself. This store had them in stock so off we went. It absolutely smells horrible in here. Now look I understand it's a pet store and whatever, but if you go to PetSmart for example, it doesn't smell like rotten animal feed/dog poop when you walk in. We found the item we wanted, although their organizing was a little weird. The only cashier seemed miserable and wasn't super friendly. Oh and make sure you compare their online price to their in store price. This item was $13 online and $22 in store, after saying something the lady looked at my phone and then changed the price. All in all I doubt I'll be back. You can get this item on Amazon cheaper and without the dead things smell of going to Petco. read more

Generally, I'm not a big fan of pet stores. If I need pet supplies (cat food, litter, etc.), I can easily get what I need at the grocery store and not have to deal with all the odd smells and odd people with their pets in tow. That said, Petco does bring in adoptable kittens on most Saturdays. Over the years, I've added two kitty members to the family thanks to this. So I suppose this location does have a soft spot in my heart. The staff has always been nice/friendly. Prices seem the same or even slightly higher than Target or No Frills. So, come here for kittens on Saturdays but get the rest of your pet supplies at the grocery store. read more

I am a huge fan of any store that allows you to bring your dogs inside. My dogs are better behaved than most people's children, smell better, and only cry when something significant occurs, such as Timmy falling in a well. Petco has a wide range of pet food and supplies. They also have a dog treat buffet, which is essentially a way to charge people more for dog treats without packaging. Pure genius. On the downside, this location is chronically understaffed. They're lucky the store isn't robbed regularly, because I think you are as likely to see another person on the moon as you are to see a store employee at the cash register. You can pretty much count on not having anyone available to help retrieve fish, reptiles or answer questions about products. read more

I really like the locally owned smaller pet stores like Green Spot and Pets Earth best (haven't tried Long Dog Fat Cat - yet) but I like the size of the "big box" stores like Petco and Petsmart for actually walking around with my pet. Between the two I prefer PetSmart, it just seems a little bigger and brighter, but Petco is a nice option, too. I especially appreciate that they do not sell dogs and cats but rather work with local rescue groups to adopt out animals. I know that Midwest Dog Rescue Network where I got my dog from is here periodically with foster dogs for adoption. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews but this was by far the worst experience I've had at any Petco location, I normally shop at the location in West, Omaha and haven't had any issues at that location. I had gone in to grab some fish food and possibly some supplies to set up a new tank and I was close to this location so I decided to stop. I've set up tanks before and knew that I'd need to wait for the tank to cycle to put fish in and what I needed but I had some random questions about certain products. The aquatic associate was rude and clearly not in a good mood, she was very sarcastic and talked to me like I was stupid the entire visit. She was also not very helpful with answering my questions. I am unaware of her name but she had purple hair. She should not be in customer service with the attitude she has. I ended up going to the Pet-Smart down the road. I will not be returning to this location. I really hope something gets done about this. I found out the associates name was Hali. I hope that she gets talked to or the situation gets handled. read more

I decided I was going to give an aquarium as a Christmas gift one year. But I wanted to make sure I had everything to help her set it up. That means whatever water treatments, accessories . . . just EVERYTHING so all we had to do was to go out and pick out the fish to put in the tank. Not only was this little young punk ass staff rude and dismissive when I asked for assistance in this endeavor, two of the little teenaged or twenty something tricks found something funny about my asking for them to do their job in assisting me! So I left the cart with everything I was going to purchase in the middle of the store and headed for the exit. I saw this pasty woman standing at the front of the store and asked her was she the manager. She said she was so I registered my complaint with her, and told her I wasn't EVER coming back in that store again. She offered a half ass apology, and equally half assed offered to help, I said NOPE! Take my business elsewhere . . . AND I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK SINCE! MY MONEY IS GREEN TOO!!! This is in regards to their grooming services. We have taken our Shih-Tzu/Pomeranian mix dog here twice now and while the grooming has been done well my concern/issue is with the fact that all of the people working in the grooming area smelled heavily of smoke to the point that our dog actually smelled like smoke when we took her home. Considering the fact that part of the service we are paying for is a bath and to have her cleaned I definitely don't want to bring her home smelling like smoke, especially since I am extremely allergic to smoke. Unfortunately, despite the good haircut, we will be looking elsewhere for her next grooming appointment. read more

I recently realized I much more prefer Petsmart over Petco and before I didn't think I had a preference. I do find this location to however be a less than ideal Petco. The store itself seems to have an underlying dinge to it. Nothing seems bright and shiny and clean. This store is conveniently located so I will continue to shop here but I will try to schedule my trips otherwise to other locations. OMG! This place is well the opposite of tidy and clean. The saltwater tanks have algae in them the fish look unhealthy. The fresh water tanks look so filthy I didn't want to even look at the fish. We didn't have a proper thermometer to take her temp. We called just about fifteen minutes before closing to see if they might have a thermometer. They did! I was visiting my family with my dog from out of the state. I visited this Petco because my dog, a poodle mix, needed to be groomed. When the groomer was clearing the hair from my dog's ears, she pulled all of the hair at once and left my dog with an injury!!!! The ear got crusty where the injury was, and it was painful and irritating for my dog for a long time. My dog who is very docile and calm screamed in pain. I was very upset about how my dog was treated, and she had to be treated for her injury in her ears. I will never take my dog here for grooming. read more

Had our two West Highland Terriers in for grooming on Sunday. Had been here before with favorable results. This time there was only ONE person working to do all the work. Both dogs grooms were not good. Head and faces really shaved. Nothing like a Westi should be. The groomer said that our oldest dog had pooped and peed in his kennel which is TOTALLY unlike him. So something must have been going on to get him that excited. Both dogs were very anxious to get out of there when we picked them up. Today, they are very lethargic. There must have been some sort of incident. My thoughts are that having only ONE person staffing a grooming salon to wash, dry, trim, groom and do customer service is total irrisponsible and poor business practices. Needless to say, we will not be using them in the future. read more

Took my Yorkie in for a groom and the groomer cut my Yorkie hair bald. It did not look like my dog. My dog usually goes every two to three weeks at PetSmart to get groomed and I decided to come here. So I dropped my dog, Macee, off at 1230pm. I was in the neighborhood again around 230 pm and stopped in to see if she might be done. Before going in, I stopped over at Petco to do some shopping. The entire time I was there , I heard my dog barking. I don't kennel her, so I sure she was stressed. Well, now I am stressed so I go over to get her. The gentleman that I spoke with said that my groomer was at lunch and that Macee wasn't done yet?!? I wanted to grab Macee right then, but I left and waited to see how this was going to play out. I got a call at 345 pm saying she was ready. I was there in ten minutes. They couldn't find my paperwork. I had to point it out on the counter. I went and paid while they grabbed my dog. ounce I got her in the car, I had to roll the windows down because the deodorant they used on her smelled so strong I couldn't breathe. I had to bathe her again when I got home. they couldn't have possibly brushed this dog of mine for 15 minutes. Hair still everywhere. Why drop the dog off at 1230? Explain the process? My dog needs no grooming! Bath, dry, nails and a brush takes 3 hours? I won't be back. I will pay the extra for peace of mind at a competitor. I should not have listened when someone told me I was paying too much. You get what you pay for. I would never put her thru that again. All because I really just need her nails clipped. I just love the service i get at at Petco when my 2 big hairy dogs are brought in for bath time, the Staff there knows me and dogs, what i want done, my dogs are never afraid like they have been at some other places, they have even bought lunch for my Rottweilers before, lol. The dog trainer was phenomenal and i have no complaints there. However, the GROOMING salon was terrible and this was their 3rd chance in improving my opinion of them. First time, i went and overpaid for their service and was highly under-impressed with the bath and grooming of my old English sheepdog. He is 84 pounds, extremely lovable, a very easy going pup. I was just expecting more for the price i paid and they didn't do a bandana or anything to show he was freshly groomed like a lot of other spots do. The scent was so strong he rolled in poop to get it out of his fur. Thus, i brought my pup back for a second wash but this time changed the package so it would be more appropriate for the services and quality. They said it was more than i expected because of his breed. 12$ more than it should've been. So i paid anyway just because i need the job done quickly. When i came back for my pup he barely looked like he got the "face, foot, and fanny trim" that i paid extra for. This was in addition to being over charged "because of his breed". When i had more time on my hands i called to make a third visit where they did refund the extra money i had paid but said in the future it would be more expensive because of his breed. We compromised on the cut of my pup's facial hair and i shopped around while the cut was performed by the MANAGER. let's just say he mangled my dog's hair. It is completely sideways and crooked and uneven in every way. The manager (Matt) brushed my dog out in front of me very roughly and rushed like he wasn't concerned for the way my dog felt. I was also skipped on a promotional they were running when i came in the second time and was overcharged, so they had to fix that but they didn't have the large breed option that my dog needed so we settled for medium and ran! Will not be returning even though i like April, one of the groomers. Horrible customer service and no value for your buck. 1/5 stars. read more

I have had horrible service with Petco Omaha Nebraska, in the past and swore I would bite return to thier store. My son over fed or fish and In return i recieved a gift card. Two days later I go to the Petco and asked if I could get a refund for the card, in whole or in part depending on if i found something in the store. The manager was called and i attempted to explain to him what i explained to a associate. While explaining to the Manager, he interrupted me saying "Whatever" several times, he gave me dirty looks as I spoke. Although he was able to verify the card had its funds and there was never an attempt to use it he treated me as I stole it. Asking repeatedly what I was doing with it. Dale went out of his way make me feel unwanted at Petco. He literally turned his back and walked away from me as I was speaking. I reached out to management who kept saying they would resolve this. And that I wouldn't be able to refund the card. The waited a out a week to tell the couldn't do anything. If your a company that won't refund for your product. I won't do business with you. It speaks volumes when a company steal your money through these gift cards. The understand that it is likely that I have to spend more than 50 to get full value of my original money invested. It's a shame that corporate greed is still acceptable. They never spoke to me via phone the would only text me. As a person of color I get tired of mistreatment by the Dale's of your companys. How can you expect Me to spend my money with your business if you're manager treats customers as trespassers. This is the exact reason I stop shopping with them originally. Currently, they have a female panther chameleon that has metabolic bone disease. You can tell she has the disease because of the bowing in her legs. A panther chameleons legs should be straight with no bowing. MBD is caused by lack of calcium. A chameleon can only absorb calcium through proper unfiltered uvb lighting. Petco has this female listed for $399. If you do research on female panthers you know they only list for about $100 - $150 and the males are $300 and above. Back to the condition of her, this poor little chameleon will never heal and probably will not live as long as she could of if she would of had a proper diet and lighting. Further damage can be prevented by correcting her diet and lighting. I feel so sorry for this little gal. read more

I don't usually write reviews unless they're good but I am very disappointed in the grooming at this Petco. I took my dog in for his first professional grooming and requested , and paid for the extra deshedding. He came back shedding as much, itching and full of dandruff, or dried soap. I'm still brushing the dry soap off of him a month later and his ears have been bothering him since the grooming. I thought he would get a deeper clean, but he still smelled bad too. THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had at a dog groomer. Took my dog for a 10 am appointment and was told they would be done by noon. At noon, they had not touched him. At one o'clock they had not touched him...( did not think about it at the time, but now wondering if he sat there all day with no potty break). I had just adopted him and asked them to bathe and groom him. When I finally got him back AT FOUR O'CLOCK!!! they had taken it upon themselves to give him a flea dip. He had an allergic reaction to the dip. The groomer implied that it was my fault he had the reaction since I HAD brought him in with FLEAS. She demanded I take him to the vet immediately for a shot of steroids as only this would take care of the issue. I took the dog home, bathed him myself to remove the insecticide from his coat and skin, then had to complete the grooming as they had not clipped his paws, his ears (cocker spaniel) and had not lifted the ears to clip the neck and shoulders under them. HORRIFIC experience for myself and my dog. I WILL ABSOLUTELY NEVER DO BUSINESS THERE AGAIN!!! read more
